Changed my car battery there. It was done, no complaint there. The disappointing part was to pay more than the quote given for the battery, as well as for the labor. Not professional at all. If you dont have any other choice, dont have high expectations, especially from Lou. Or better find another place to take care of your car

I brought my truck in for rear brakes and rotors and callipers they did it in a timely manner and a thorough job also at a fare price. I got a problem on a draining parasite in my car. It still cant overnight without get the entire battery drained out. The technician asked me $85 dollars to diagnose and told me that would be nothing. Since the beginning Loue, who was responsible for the diagnosis seemed to no care about my problem and said it had nothing. So in the 1st overnight the battery died. After get over there back again, he asked me some more time and guess what. He told me that the car started everyday with no problems. Once i got home at the first overnight the car completely died again. After more than 3 weeks i didnt get my car working properly. That was the most spend of energy, money and time i had in all my entire life with a mechanic. He used to ask me sometimes to go there to check something in the middle of the day when i was busy as hell in places more than 30 miles range. I do not recommend this place and trust me, i am the kind of person that hate doing that kind of review, but in the way the things were it just pushed me to make it! Now i have the car in the same situation and still need to start it all over again.

Today was my first time to Hub Starters & Alternators and they were a pleasure to deal with. They called and explained what work needed to be done and were completely upfront about the cost. When I had an additional question the person I was speaking with needed to find the answer and call me back. I received a call back in under ten minutes. I appreciated how thorough they were and most importantly that the price I was originally quoted was the price I paid.

I have been having my car serviced at Hub Starter for over 7 years. Lou and Brian are very, very honest, their prices are reasonable and they are very accommodating. When they say my car will be ready, it always is on time. The mechanics and staff are always knowledgeable and helpful. I have become a very loyal customer of Hub Starters and I highly recommend them.

Went in for a simple bulb change a couple weeks ago; one bulb change and the guy charged me $100 (they are $35 for a pair at AutoZone) then when the same bulb went off again a few days ago we brought it back in and this guy tries telling us we have tons of electrical issues. We tried asking what exactly the issue was and asked him to explain it but he kept cutting me off, raising his voice and telling me it was going to cost ALOT more. He got even more upset when I kept asking questions and told me he wanted to talk to someone else about my car... Horrible horrible man with no manners no tact and no Customer Service skills and belittling me which i can only assume is because Im a woman... Brian you are the worst individual Ive ever encountered and i wouldnt recommend your services for a junker.

Excellent customer service!My car failed its emissions test numerous times, Lou figured out the problem the first time he looked at it and fixed it that day. Most importantly, he explained things to me in clear lay English, offered options, and made suggestions before going ahead with any work.I would return to them for everything if they were in my neighborhood and will certainly drive the extra 30 minutes should my car have anymore major issues. They are nice people but I had a bad experience. They charged a diagnosis fees of $85 for air bag light and informed me that it cant be fixed because they dont have proper equipment. Well, if you dont have proper equipment you should inform me upfront.Without getting the issue fixed, giving $85 doesnt make sense to me.Before writing the review, I wanted to resolve the issue amicably but it was in vain and unprofessional.I also didnt find their service cheaper, its on par or more with the equivalent branded auto repair shop where you will have the surety that the issue will be fixed.For conventional oil change, they charge $40 which everyone does in $20.

I did this once already but must have done something wrong. Brian and his dad Lou are both stand up guys. Theyre friendly and professional. They recently replaced the engine in my car and have done several other mechanical work on my car and I never once felt cheeted or that they didnt know what they were doing. I most definitely would recommend them to anyone in need of mechanical work. Also, they sell a small selection of used cars hand picked by Brian himself for quality. Just dont try to buy the 06 toyota avalon. I want it. All n all good family, mechanics and honest people. Bret Fowler

I was referred to Lou at Hub Starters in October 2014 because I needed follow up and another opinion on work that was done at a nearby dealer the month before. The work at the dealer had cost me an arm and a leg and they recommended an equal amount of work going forward in order to avoid the problem from occurring again. I found Lou to be straightforward and practical. He told me what needed to be done but without a lot of excess that wouldve cost money I didnt have. Since then, Ive returned to Hub Starters for both routine work and things that needed to be addressed immediately. They have always fit me in to either take a look at something or to deal with a problem that would make driving the vehicle impossible. My interactions with everyone there have always been very positive and I expect theyll continue to be my go-to for as long as Im working in the area.

I brought my Charger to Lou 2 years back in hopes he would fix a racking noise int he engine. He installed used spark plugs and changed the oil, and sent me on my way. 30 minutes later the car died. Not only did they use used parts, but they didnt fix the problem and charged me 420.00.I brought the car to another place and I was told the bottom half of the engine was gone. I had to replace the engine, minus the 420.00 that was stolen from me by Lou.STAY AWAY. THEY ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY

Ive been bringing my Kia Optima to Hub Starters for regular maintenance and small issues for the last 2 years and would highly recommend them. They offer great customer service (MUCH better than the dealership), offer complimentary transport to my office in Malden (or the T) and pick me up when my vehicle is completed. If they find additional work that needs to be done - they will call me to ensure im okay with the work and the pricing. Their pricing is fair and work is always done correctly. They even double-up on the floor mats to keep my tan interior looking great! (thanks guys!). If you are looking for a local, reasonably priced shop with great customer service for your vehicle service needs - look no further!

I called Hub starter for a quote - to replace the starter on my car. The lady on the phone refused to give the approximately price for the service. She wanted me to have my car towed to the to takle a look first. This is a catch. If its too pricy I have to tow my car again to another place??. Other places gave an approximately estimate, except HUB. STAY AWAY DONT TRUST THEM.
