Very good place for those who love Dark Chocolate. They use 55% and higher for the amount of Cocoa in their products. Also, online availability if you dont have time to stop by the shop.

Amazing chocolates from a chocolatier who really knows what she is doing. I have been to Belgium multiples times and had a lot of their fantastic chocolate and Gail’s chocolate is just as delicious. I was lucky enough to be gifted a box of 12 chocolates each month by my daughters and look forward to the wonderful variety of truffles I receive each month. They are always packaged so carefully and arrive in perfect condition, even in the summer.

Great little shop for a quick chocolate craving or for a nice gift. The chocolate truffles are on the pricier side, but are so good in unique flavors.

Very disappointed. Online said they were open to in-person shopping. Had never been here before but planned to support a local business. Drove all the way in and there doors were covered and they were not taking in person but you could call in an order. This would be fine if you were an established patron but not good for a new customer. Hard to pay premium prices on an unknown commodity. Looks like the Grinch stole my wife’s Christmas chocolates. :(

I wondered over here last week because I happened to be nextdoor. My uncle had wanted chocolate. And I must say I am incredibly impressed with this place. They specialize in dark chocolate. And it was all amazing. Plus the staff was wonderful. I dont know how they get chocolate to taste so good.

This place, and these people, take chocolate seriously. Ive been acquainted with Gail for about five years now. She seems to always manage to have a team of great people working with her at the shop. Over the years, Ive consistently found the truffles to be as good as any Ive had, anywhere in the world, and Ive done my share of traveling. Flavors and ingredients are clearly the result of both art and science. Ive always felt welcome whether the people behind the counter recognize my face or not. The selection is broad, and free bites are usually available. This is as good as it gets. No wonder it has become a lasting institution in our city.

The people working here are Always so very friendly and helpful. I generally am stopping to get a gift for a hostess, or a thank you gift, or something that suits the bill for a gift for almost anyone. They have pre-packaged to choose from if youre in a hurry, else pick out what you want and theyll gift package it nicely for you.The chocolate is delicious and they come up with the most interesting flavors. Other people get them as gifts, but the person choosing needs to sample sometimes too, just to make sure : )

Ive been a customer for years and the chocolate is exceptionally exquisite and the service is top notch. I made an order for mothers day this year and was concerned that because of the quantity they produce this time of year that the product may be a little more mass produced. Mom sent me a picture of the assortment I ordered and its the most beautiful assortment thus far!!! Such a nice, cozy place. I went there during the holidays when they served complimentary hot chocolate, which was delicious. The chocolates were a work of art! I tried 8 different truffles and all of them were splendid.

Handmade chocolates, caramels, and candies. Unique blends of chocolate and other ingredients. The flavors are paired and layered incredibly well. A bit pricey, but the products are well worth it. The staff is friendly and very helpful.

The best chocolate I have ever had. This is my go to place for gifts. Their dark chocolates are sensuously scrumptious and very beautiful. Everyone always loves their chocolate. Several people have told me its the best chocolate they have ever had, too. The shop is generous, sharing free hot chocolate in winter and they put out samples of their creations that werent perfect enough to sell. Chocolates for kids in the shapes of frogs. Buddhas for your meditator friends, etc. Seasonal creations. Standard chocolates with espresso, jasmine, rose petal, curry, etc. So freaking good! I bring guests here as one of the must-visit spots in the city.

Im gonna be honest. This place is just fine. Not worth the hype.

The Gail Ambrosius Chocolatier stop allows you to spend some time as Gail herself (at least with our tour with #madisonfoodtours .  She had just got back from Peru on a cacao farm tour.  She let us know that Cacao trees only grow about 20° to the north and south of the Equator.  She insisted that the farmers she works with “are using sustainable practices and are paid well for their crops.” (learn about Gails world of Cacao).  Gail then spends some time with you providing you a bit of history of chocolate in the world today, how she views the cacao bean and the industry, and the taste – oh yes you do get to taste some chocolate.   I grew up the sweet taste of chocolate and lived in Belgium for some time.  I was educated today with taste and economics.  Belgium owns about 60% of the chocolate industry, and hence spends a lot of $$$$ to get us to believe they have the best chocolate.

Gail Ambrosius is the only chocolatier that Madison needs. They offer high quality, elegantly crafted chocolates that always taste amazing. The seasonal offerings are fun and interesting. The packaging is professional and makes for a beautiful gift. The staff is friendly and the shop is always clean.

Amazing chocolate. I would give them 5 stars but Im disappointed they dont deviate from dark chocolate. I would love to gift Gail Ambrosius to some of my milk chocolate loving friends, but they limit themselves to solely dark. This fact makes me perceive the business as a little bougie, but they do what they do well, I cant complain.

Had the priledge to experience this little shop with my daughter before I had to fly back to Texas. Had amazing customer service and the the chocolates was like nothing I have ever experienced. It was like each chocolate had its own story. So glad I got to experience this with my daughter, making memories to last a life time.

The Midwests Best Chocolate? Yes, it undeniably is...subtle, original, meticulous, and OMG. The new retail space says otherwise, samples no longer evident on a busy Fall football weekend, staff a bit uncertain, and the vibe of that smaller store across the street missing. Feels a bit like Whole Foods...sorry to say. Surely unintended, but moving the store was Big Mistake. Comeon, this is not what GailA was about! Still delicious, so please note this reviewer still gives the product an A, just not a plus.
