Went here for lunch and the staff were lovely, very helpful, the shop Renos look greatBUT SO Disappointed to see that they are still serving all the food and drinks and straws in plastic!!! This would have been a chance to lead the way out of the 80s ! When we didnt know better or even care! There are so many better options and innovative ways to deal with this.If Farm Basket would promote itself as non- plastic cafe I am sure that would resonate well in the community and be a good marketing strategy too.The food is great but really, having to have it all served in plastic even when eating in is off-putting and frustrating.I really hope theyll address this because its just so bad on so many levels!

Tried today for the first time, recommended by my beautiful wife whos been locked away in our bedroom with Covid for the last 3 days. Hoping this new-to-me place would spring life back into my zombified spouse, I drove as fast as I could.I get back to the house and take out each of the individually bagged sandwich meals. The bags have been taped together with tape that one can only imagine a company called Gorilla Glue can make. Lacking Dwayne The Rock Johnsons muscular physique, I struggle to open the bags. Hearing my wifes hungry Covid moans from the upstairs bedroom, I started to get nervous. I fling open the junk drawer, pushing aside our Instant Ramen Maker and stolen Wasabi ramekins and find our one and only pair of scissors in the entire 8000 sq ft house. I cut open the bags. Im coming, honey, rescue is on the way.I open our bedroom door, hands shaking, unknowing of whats inside. Im greeted with a possum grin, shes knows whats in that bag. I lock the door behind me and go back downstairs to open my bag. Its chicken salad, tater salad, and a brownie.Lawd hammercy this chicken salad is Gods gift to Virginia. Theres grapes. Theres almonds. Theres just enough mayonnaise to make you not regret stepping on the scale the next morning. The tater salad is so good that saying its so good it makes you wanna smack yo momma is an understatement. You should go smack your grandma and ask her why didnt you have food this good growing up. Go on, call her.Lastly, the brownie. Lawd I done died and Im typing this in heaven cuz I done got da diabeetus. This sweet little brown square is enough to get them childhood cavities tingling again. Yo teeth gone be cryin.10/10 would recommend FarmBasket. Helped my wifes Covid and I found a nice, new place.

One of the most unique places I’ve ever shopped at. Interesting experience, yet lavish! I’d shop here again, esp for clothes for my kids (whenever I have some). They had the cutest baby romper with little blue whales printed all throughout the outfit. Im certain most of the items sold here are mostly local items, but I appreciated seeing imported items as well. Next time I visit, I’d love to try that French DiJon Mustard mixed with honey. Thanks for an awesome experience!

The restaurant in the back of the clean and richly-varied storefront almost exclusively serves sandwiches. This is a pretty solid business plan, as their sandwiches are delicious. I had a turkey and brie sandwich on darkened multigrain with (apricot? not sure) jam and lettuce/spinach greens to make it nice and light. It was surprisingly comprehensive in its taste profile. The jam complemented the mellow brie in conjunction with a good meat-to-cheese ratio to finish out a nice little gem of a sandwich.Only downside is that none of the sandwiches include a side or drink, and their meal deal, the boxed lunch, just gives you chips and a very, very small dessert (it took me 4 bites to finish my lemon point cake slice) with NO drink for $4 more. I got a normal bottled ginger ale for a not-so-great price of $3 bringing a single sandwich meal here to $14 before tax. Not the worst prices Ive ever seen, but not the best deals, either.

Ive been to the Farm Basket three times in the past couple of years. I went again this weekend, and was surprised to see that the store and cafe looked almost exactly the same. For most places, this type of consistency is a good thing. The food from the cafe is excellent, and the boutique is carefully curated. However, the service and bug problem is atrocious.I will speak first to the lovely items in the boutique. Each time I have come, I have admired the choices in the shop. Everything is colorful and of superior quality. However, the clerks watch you like a hawk and come across more like security guards. You end up getting the impression they are deciding instantly whether or not you have enough money to be worth their time. When I came a few years ago, my mother-in-law (MIL) bought a purse as well as some kitchen decor, and the demeanor of the shop keeper was instantly more pleasant. Perhaps install security cameras instead? I know you take pride in your shop, but the customer service is very uncomfortable. The cafe has absolutely tasty sandwiches, soups, and desserts. There has consistently been a long wait for food. We wait in line on average 15-20 minutes to order, and the food can take anywhere from 20-40 minutes to be served. We are all okay with that because it is just THAT tasty. It is overpriced in a sense, but it can be chalked up to fresher/better ingredients and matches the pricing in the store. This last weekend was sadly perhaps my last visit. Previous visits have shown that the owners dont seem to care remotely that there is an abnormal amount of wasps flying around in the cafe near the roof, bees inside, and the occasional flies. I have been to many cafes, but not ones that welcome bees and wasps at an indoor seating area. Please note that I am saying it has been this way for years. This visit and last, I noticed people were avoiding sitting in the upstairs area which is closest to all of the wasps. We planned to sit outside to eat as it was a beautiful day, and planned to buy our favorite picks from the store after. While waiting in line to order food, a bee stung me. I dont know when it landed on me, so I guess my shifting in line freaked it out or something. The staff saw what happened but stayed silent, and in a completely lackadaisical manner asked for our order. Ignoring the fact that I had been stung. Seriously? I can handle being stung by a bee, but we have seen more empathy from customer service at fast food restaurants - especially considering that we spent about $75 in food alone. Thank God Im not anaphylactic. This is disappointing, and I dont feel like getting stung by bees, wasps, or any other sort of thing in order to get delicious food. Im glad you are supporting wildlife, but letting it live and thrive inside your cafe is weird and unusual.

To be fair, the place is quite nice, they have a lot of cute things to buy, from apparel to gourmet food items, and their cafe menu has good and healthy choices. Ive been many times and the food or the gift store never disappoints me.However, their staff is extremely rude and unwelcoming, you never leave the store thinking this time they treated me well. One time I went with my husband on a Saturday to grab some sandwiches. We arrived at 2:55pm not knowing that their kitchen closes at 3pm, although the place closes at 5pm. They told us their kitchen was closed in a no-smile no-sorry way. Surprising, specially by this countrys standards on customer care.I also usually buy a few gourmet sauces from there, at least once a month! Last time, I went with a friend to grab lunch and buy and I mistakenly took the wrong flavor. I went to the store today to exchange it (not even return it) and they told me they dont return food items, as if this was a bag of tomatoes and it had gone already bad or something. It had the seal on, their tag with the store name and the bar code and everything. Very disappointed.Ive been always bringing friends to it and coming back after all because I always think anyone can have a bad day, but this time it was one too many.

Food is good, but nevertheless overpriced. Noticed that a cook named Trey was verbally abusive and demeaning to the rest of the staff on a bi-weekly basis when I went there to eat. I do not understand how any business can tolerate that kind of treatment to its employees. Also overheard a lot of gossip while I was waiting for my food. I dont think the employees seem to understand that their actions should have consequences. I will not be eating here anymore and have been warning many other people I know to not eat or shop here. My company will no longer be getting orders for our staff from the Farm Basket as well.

I couldnt figure out how to change the poster from my son to me... so Im Carol Moorefield. I doubt that the anonymous poster will see this, but others will see her somewhat scathing review of The Farm Basket. Though it was 4 years ago, I wish the poster had posted his/her name. Why? Because when people hide behind anonymous, it tends to suggest a hit and run, pot-stirring, or troll image. I am sorry that persons only visit to The Farm Basket was not a pleasant one, but speaking anonymously takes away any opportunity for the store to contact an individual and seek ways to improve or correct. I have been coming hear regularly for almost 24 years. I cant find enough adjectives to describe my experiences! Let me briefly share several recent highlights. 1) There was a mix-up with orders, and almost everyone had their lunch except me. Debbie and Frances both noticed and immediately rectified the situation. 2) I really wanted an item for friends birthday and I was stuck in traffic. I called ahead, but missed the closing time of 5. I arrived at almost ten after, and they had stayed waiting for me. Does that sound like people who dont care about their customers? 3) When the refrigerators were down, I didnt know if I could get more pimiento cheese. Debbie saw to it that I did. 4) When I was there this past Saturday, the chef, Trae, overheard me say that I was a celiac. He came out and said that he tries very hard to keep salads segregated, but since they also use salads for sandwiches, he couldnt guarantee that crumbs couldnt be airborne. Does that sound like someone who does not care about their customers? 5) Debbie noticed that another regular customer was sitting right behind me. She introduced me to Ginger. I knew Ginger by sight, but did not know her by name. All these things have been done to/for others. I am definitely not an exception. I cant think of a more pleasant peaceful place to eat and shop! The Farm Basket: thanks for all you do!
