Could not be happier with the service they provided. They went out of their way to make sure that the repair that needed to be done got done right, but took the time to give me my options as well as tell me what needed to be done, what would be good to get done, and what I could live with for the time being and still be safe. We will use Tuffy Automotive Rockford every time!

Came in without an appointment cause I knew something was wrong. Though very busy, they looked over my car, told me the problems and got my car all fixed up and healthy again. Very great service, extremely nice people and made me feel very comfortable. Thanks to Ken and Doug and the very nice mechanic. ( dont know his name) and the very kind lady who took me home while they worked on my car. Thanks to all, you have my business forever and definitely will tell people to go to you!

This place is FANTASTIC! I just moved from NH and needed reasonable mechanic to do work we couldnt do ourselves. Sue answered my call and was quick to set my mind at ease and knew exactly what Id need. She sent me on to Doug and Ken. Each time something could be issue they called me every step of the way to ensure I knew EXACTLY what and why they may need to do certain things. They replaced all of my rear brakes lines even getting the fused from rust tire hoist to work and not have to cut off as I anticipated they would. I had called several shops but these guys were great not trying so sell me extras I did not need and did a full inspection of my newly acquired truck so I knew what may come up soon and later on. I cant recommend this place highly enough. They really did a fantastic job on a difficult job and they did it right. They didnt rush through and really wanted the truck done right. I did what extra work she may need (tie rods ends, stabilizer bar links etc) and she is going back there for tires, ball joints (with control arm)alignment etc. and its nice to KNOW they will take good care of my truck, they will make sure job done right and it wont cost me arm and a leg. Plus they guarantee their work as a natio al company. It was a pleasure doing business with these folks and will not be bringing my vehicles anywhere else. Thank you so much Sue, Doug and Ken. You are all rock stars who deserve a big fat bonus and raise for you attention to detail, communication and quality work. I was traveling to our summer vacation destination when we noticed a burning smell coming from our vehicle. When we stopped for the night, there was smoke coming from the engine. Having used Tuffy at another location for all my automotive repair needs, I thought I would try the Tuffy in Rockford. My expectations were truly exceeded with my visit to Tuffy. They got my car in quickly, found the problem, fixed it and had me back on the road again very quickly. Only a minor interruption before resuming our trip. Everyone at Tuffy was top notch in helping me in this situation. I would highly recommend Tuffy for your repair needs.

I needed to replace my muffler and the place I had been to before wasn’t able to schedule an appointment, it was only first come, first served. I decided to try Tuffy’s. I made an appointment, the mechanics checked out my vehicle and found several other serious issues which they showed me before I agreed to the work. The work was done, I have my car and it drives like it’s new. I will definitely used Tuffy’s in the future. All the staff were respectful to all clients and were able to answer my questions.

Have been their client for 2 years now! Not a single complaint against them. Always friendly and helpful. Best part is their price! We got a quote from a local mechanic that was twice more experience than Tuffy quoted us! Job done! Was fortunate to get my car to Tuffys to check a problem with my automatic brake system (ABS). Very friendly and understanding staff. They provided me with a shuttle ride home to wait for the repairs to be completed. They have the best auto electrical technician anywhere. He Identified and repaired the problem in less than one day. Very reasonable price for the work. They also worked with my (now former) extended warranty company. Will go to Tuffy Auto Services for all future auto repairs.

I stood in line for quite a long time. No one ever greeted me so said they would be with me. They werent even talking about anyones car just making small talk. I finally just left after it was apparent that no one was going to help me.

Very frustrating experience.. The shop closed early without notice on the day I was supposed to pick up my vehicle. They didn’t put the key inside the car or attempt to contact me, which left me stranded at their shop without a way to get into my vehicle. This is the second time I’ve taken my car to them for an AC leak, and all they’ve done is run a simple test both times and tell me that they’re unable to find the problem. I took it to the shop down the road, and they found the problem almost immediately. Incompetent work and unhelpful customer service. Will not be returning.

I have used Tuffy twice within the last year and both times have sadly been very disappointing. My first time was to get an oil change and a full checkup before winter. I called ahead to make an appointment and asked how long it would take. They informed me 1-1.5 hours. I arrived on time for my appointment (9am) and was there for almost 3 hours. Made me an hour late for work. No explanation or apology for taking 2-3 times longer than I was told it would take. Also, a couple that came in 20 minutes after me, had their car done before mine was even driven into the bay to be started on.I gave them another chance today. Made an appointment for a drop off this time for just an oil change. My appointment for drop off was 7:30am. I arrived a few minutes early and there were already 4 people ahead of me in line to check in. Two of the people didn’t even have appointments and were just seeing if they could get in. Instead of helping the people that actually had appointments first, they still put those people in for drop offs. It was 25 minutes before I even made it to the counter to check in. I asked if there was any idea when my car would be done since I had an appointment today at 3pm. The lady at the counter wrote that info in red marker on my paper. I still had not heard anything at 1:20pm so I called to check on the status. My car was not done but the man on the phone informed me that the technician was at lunch but my car was set to be worked on next as soon as he was back from lunch. I asked if it would be done by 2:30 since I had my 3pm appointment. He said it’s next in line and will be finished as soon as possible. 4:35pm comes around and I still haven’t heard anything. No courtesy call to let me know it wouldn’t be done in time. I would have gone back and gotten it because it was a pretty important appointment that I had to reschedule. I called back again at 4:35 only to be told they hadn’t even started working on my car! I said someone told me at 1:20 that my car was next and (Doug) proceeded to tell me they had some issue with parts on other cars and needed to do the ones that were there or something. Again, no apology for the misinformation I was given at 1:20 and no apology for not having the courtesy to let me know they couldn’t get my car done by the time I needed. Oh and it still wasn’t done when I arrived at closing (5:30) to pick it up. Had to wait another 15 minutes. I will not ever go back nor would I ever recommend Tuffy.

Tuffy is THE place to take your car for repairs. Having lived in Rockford for 14 years, its been a struggle finding a good, clean, honest repair shop. Whenever we find one, within a few years, it goes sideways. Finding Tuffy was a godsend. Theyre always quick, fair, and clear about options. Their financing options are super helpful. I wont trust anyone else to repair or maintain my vehicles.

Tuffy is the one and ONLY place Ive ever felt relaxed and not feel pressure or distrust with their works. They did a repair for me over a year ago, top cover gasket, and it started to leak a little. While there for belts replacement I mentioned this to Jim and he said Did you know the work is under warranty? I can have my mechanic check it out and redo the gasket. Would you like me to do that for you?. I totally forgot about the warranty, 2 years, and Jim remembered the repair and come out with this. Have he not, I would have not known this. He cares and that was very nice of him to remind me. I am in good hand with Tuffy and know I am at the right place for FULL SERVICE ALL AROUND.

The staff is friendly, nice, and thoughtful. The customer service is excellent at Tuffy. I have been bringing my cars to Tuffy in Loves Park for about 5 years now. I had an issue with my tires. I left the service dealership and took my car to Tuffy. They were able to tell what was really happening with my tires and got the job done. I highly recommend this place for your auto service needs.

This is one of the BEST shops Ive ever visited.They are kind, thoughtful, courteous, professional and they get the job done quickly and with care. I am so thankful for them. They saved me and my mom as we were traveling and had a radiator issue!!

I was there looking to find hpipe for a 2011 mustang. Customer service was really good, although the mechanic was quite persistant on me keeping the xpipe (i know x is better for performance, but sound matters to me more). In the end, i got a custom hpipe installed. Now i have new axleback to go with hpipe and it sounds amazing. Cant believe how good my car sounds now.Im giving 4 stars because i felt i had to be persistent to get this hpipe. Services and work was otherwise great and i would recommend Tuffys.

My passenger side splash guard that protects my belts is held on by 2 10mm bolts. They are both completely rusted and one actually snapped in the frame. Took it to Tuffys, charged me $60 to bore out the broken bolt. They did that and put a snap on plastic replacement for the hole they drilled into my frame, didn’t bother to replace the other rusted bolt and then they zip tied the splash guard to my car frame. Now that I want to work on my belts I can’t because they zip tied the splash guard.Sure, I could cut it and take the guard off, but how is that considered quality work?Update:First and Foremost this is an 06 Hyundai Elantra. There are 2 and only 2 10mm bolts that hold this splash guard in place. To accuse me of mangling something is utter nonsense. To the point you made about being “unable to drill the other bolt” this is just a lie as well. The 2nd bolt near the front of the vehicle is rusted but easily removable with a socket wrench as I have just done so last night. I merely stated the lack of customer consideration to replace a $2-4 bolt while you were repairing a vehicle.Now, as a business owner, you have done nothing but spout false statements then retaliate against me as a customer by putting my personal financial problems onto a google review.If you are incapable of being a professional in response to a negative review then you should not be a public figure on the internet. Maybe this is why the BBB has rated your business as an F.

I have asked several mechanics about my ball joints for about 2 years (very loud when going around corners and 45mph+) and everyone said they were fine. I went in to Tuffy’s to have a headlight replaced and they found that the ball joints were bad without me asking. The mechanics showed me what they should look like and what mine looked like. My car drives so much smoother now!

Tuffy auto services is the only place I will take my car for repairs!! I have been on several occasions, and from the moment you bring in your car....you recognize the fact that they have an ENORMOUS sense of integrity! Before they put a tool to your car, they take you into the garage and explain in detail what needs to be done ( while pointing it out on the vehicle ). They then detail what of these repairs needs to be done 1st 2nd etc. These folks ( from desk to service people ) are friendly, respectful, informative, and honest. You simply wont find better servicemen in the business. As a bonus, they are also free with coupons etc. to insure your business is not just welcomed, but APPRECIATED!

Amazing is all I can say!!! I was on my way from northern MN to NC with my 3 kids when my check engine light came on. I stopped at Tuffy right when they opened and they got me in right away. They also told me a few places i could take my kids to keep them busy as they were fixing my car. Sue gave us a ride and also told me to call whenever we were ready to come back. Their customer service is hands down one of the best i have experienced in a long time. we got back on the road and made it safe to NC and back home. Thank you so much!! It is a trip we will be talking about for a very long time.

Shady Shady Shady!! I went here to get a repair done (which they did incorrectly) and while my car was being serviced they damaged another area of my car when I noticed and asked them about it they offered no appropriate solution, in fact they quoted me a price for the repair. At this point I’ll never go there again. They have inexperienced technicians. You know when a guy builds something and refuses to read the instructions so it looks great but then falls apart bingo that’s the quality of work they do “SAVE YOUR MONEY.” and if this wasnt enough, he offered a quote printed out the paper work and then when I didn’t want to get the repairs done there he took the paper work refusing to give them to me 🤦🏾‍♀️.

Jim and Doug, will give you a great customer service. Prefer to drop the car to get fixed, otherwise have to spend the Saturday in their waiting office.

Went in with an appointment. Had a basic oil change. Was told I needed a new battery and wipers (stuff I already new and was going to change later that day). No talking down to me. No pressure to buy from them. No scare tactics. Just an F.Y.I. you need to get this done... so your vehicle is working at the best level it can work at. Nice simple service. A bonus... cheaper than the dealership. They also answered my questions clearly. I appreciate that. Keep it up and you will have a customer for life, that refers every person that asks, to your facility.

Took my Rav in to be looked at because it was leaking tons of water in when it rained. Hoped it was just a broken down seal or something. Turned out it was something they couldnt fix cause of a missing piece when body work had been done. They were super helpful though and I went ahead and got my oil changed. Doug is a great guy to chat with while there! Will definitely bring my car back for other needs. Great prices and knowledgeable friendly staff!

I would not recommend this company at all.The costumer service was very rude to me today when I was talking to the Manager on the phone and I asked him for a discount because I am a student. What upset me was that he did not say no politely he yelled into the phone, said that I was trying waste his time and then he hung up right in my face! When I was face to face with him he said I was trying to make a deal with him when all I asked was if there were any deals and discounts then he said that he doesn’t have time for me.

They are wonderful, honest and will help find a way to help you get the bill paid. Can not say enough great things about them.

This is my first time there to have work done on my car ... but so far so good and so far they seem to be honest .. I have had some bad luck with a car shop for the past year with that car shop not being honest fixing things that didnt need fixing and over charging because I am a woman. So I decided to try Tuffy so far I have had a good experience and will be using them soon again the only thing the receptionist ladies is not that friendly she acts as if your getting on her nerves and it shows and she does a lot of Sighing when your telling her whats wrong with your car and will not smile.. if I were to leave them that would be the only reason why because I hate giving my money to rude people and she is rude !!

I took my car to Tuffy for the 1st time. It was an excellent experience from beginning to end! The staff is kind and very informative. They went above and beyond by finding me coupons to get the price down. The loaner car was a huge blessing, they warranty their work AND give roadside assistance for a year! We have found our new auto shop!

Very helpful with information on payment plans. No one is prepared for major car repairs. They have multiple plans for helping you keeping your car in good shape. I can handle most emergencies except for my car breaking down then I panic. They help you get thru that.

Went here for a while, but it is apparent they only care if you are a walk in. Multiple times they were not able to service my car at my scheduled time because they had too many walk ins (their words not mine). They showed a consistent pattern of not calling after my car was looked it. I always had to call and check on it. The last two times they told me it would be done by a certain day and they did not have it done in time. I will not give them any more of my business and Id recommend you save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

Great first experience with this particular Tuffy Tire & Auto. Brought one of our cars in for their advertised oil & filter change special. 1st impression was good in that they had sufficient parking & the grounds were neat. The waiting room was also pretty orderly. Also a clean bathroom.I had an appointment scheduled for the work and they seemed busy. However work was done in a reasonable length of time with no issues.The technician did a brakes, fluids & tire check which I think is good as many people simply forget. He also reminded me of the transmission fluid maintenance schedule.Staff was friendly & polite... The technician & I talked for a bit & he seemed knowledgeable.I will return for further service when our vehicles need it.

Tuffy did a great job. They repaired my exhaust instead of replacing it. Other shops wanted to replace the entire exhaust but Tuffy fixed it for less than half the price. They put in two new parts in the exhaust and welded them in instead of replacing the entire pipe. They showed me what I need to fix now, what I need to plan to fix later, and what is still good on my truck. Ive got a couple of things to fix that I will be back to Tuffy to do. I really like that they showed me what was going on and gave me options. My exhaust is all quiet again and as a business truck thats important when I pull up to clients homes. Tuffy understands that I need cost effective options for my business and they work with me to find the best solution.

In short best autocare place in town. They Never pressure you, at All. They tell you whats wrg and its up to you what u fix, period. Tell cars if available or they pick u up and drop u off ( who else does that) life time pads. Road side plan just for using them. I could go on, but just go, you wont be disappointed.

I have entrusted our familys vehicles with Tuffy since they opened over 5 years ago! The team there are excellent and trustworthy without a doubt! They have done an excellent job keeping my boys 2001 Chevy truck alive and going for all these years and also put a new engine in my wifes 2001 Lexus! We have nothing but praise for Jim and his excellent team!

Im disappointed that I have to edit this 5 star review. We had some really great experiences here but then had an equal number of bad experiences which caused us to switch to Butitta Brothers. Hopefully you catch them on a good day!

Most amazing experience with a shop Ive ever had. Jim (owner) personal interest in the happenings of my car and the inspection of three that I was looking to buy. He made us feel important, and respected the necessity of having a safe running vehicle. They certainly go above and beyond any and all expectations. One of their mechanics even accompanied my mother to a local dealership to offer expertise on some that she was looking at (on her OWN TIME). I Will be making them my one and only mechanic from here on out.

Tuffy was excellent to deal with. Jim specifically was outstanding. I had a very unique situation where my car engine seized up on the side of a highway and I needed to get towed and Rockford was the closest town, so I had it sent to Tuffy to diagnose the problem. I am from Chicago and heading to a golf weekend in Galena. Obviously the trip did not go well because of the car, but Jim communicated with me the entire time by phone and worked to get my car looked at quickly because they knew my situation. If you have any car issues in the Rockford area, go to Tuffy for excellent service.

A part that was installed approximately six months ago he came defective. The Center replaced it under warranty at no charge. Wonderful people.

They had problems finishing on time and had to go back once, but having their warranty it cost me no extra money for all the extra labor and got to make sure it was done right . Id still recommend them to a friend

This is my first and last experience with tuffy. We were treated poorly by associate and after speaking to management he was not willing to help. After paying to have work done on my vehicle and having to bring the car back and wait in the parking lot for two hours to get it looked at because the problem is still not fixed is very disappointing. To have manager on phone refuse to except mistake made on their part is very wrong. To have my husband talked to like he was less than a person was extremely disrespectful and disappointing . You lost a customer in me.

They let you know what you NEED, what you might NEED, what you should be aware of and when work will be needed in the future. They are quick to identify repairs that are safety concerns when necessary. Their customer service and satisfaction is beyond reproach. I will continue to do business with Tuffy of Rockford for years to come. The last time I took major work to someone else I regretted it! I wont do that again.

I had app. for oil change at 11 AM 08 30 18but at noon my car was not in the cell. Appointment was behind more than 1 hr. It happens with my second car as well. They make app but not keep promises.It about Taffy loves park.

This was my first time visiting this location. I came in with an issue with my brakes and asked them to perform the on-car brake lathe service. The technician, Al, inspected the car and the brakes. After a test drive and then talking with me about the problem, he advised my against the service. He offered some alternate suggestion for the problem I was experiencing.The repair they suggested was something I could do myself, so they got the car back together and sent me on my way. I was really impressed that they took the time to inspect my car and provide an honest diagnosis. They didnt charge me for the inspection. I left feeling like they provided great, honest service. Be very careful here, i gave this place a second chance after alread having a bad experience here with my Navigator and brought in my chevy cruze to get an oil charge. After an hour I was brought back to my car to be told i needed new tires new plugs and they couldnt do the oil change until i purchased an oil plug through them for almost $50 because mine had one corner of the head rounded and their tech said the tool just slipped when attempting to remove. I could see the plug could easily be removed with an open-end wrench do to only one corner being slightly rounded n had a hard time believing a socket wouldnt get it. I asked the tech how do I know you didnt do that the tech replied why would I vandalize your vehicle? My reply was how come you didnt grab my attention when you noticed the rounded corner? The tech had no reply . They would not proceed unless i agreed to replace the oil plug with them which i can purchase at autozone for $5. Any way i took my car down the road paid a little more and got exactly what i wanted. I didnt mention the plug and guess what, nether did they.Whats really funny is i was so upset about being called a liar I pulled my vehicle up on ramps so I could take a picture of the oil plugs 1 rounded Edge n guess what the other company replaced it at no charge. Lmfao. Talk about going above n beyond.

Tried to talk me into unnecessary repairs. I was told I needed to replace my struts when they were only a couple months old.I gave them a 2nd chance and called aboit an oil and coolant leak. They wanted to run a computer diagnostic which is unnecessary. Was told to bring it in for an inspection. When asked about what that involved I was told to just bring it in. I asked again and finally dragged it out of the tech that it would cost $130 and up. I asked up to what 4 times. FINALLY was told up to $330 for a simple inspection. If you want lies, intimidation, and being ripped off this is the place for you!

I own 4 cars and each one of them has spent some time at Tuffy Auto Service Center. My 2007 Honda Ridgeline has had wonderful service each time I have stopped. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable, the waiting room is clean with plenty of things to keep yourself occupied and if you have to wait, they offer free rides to anywhere you need to go within the Rockford area.

Jim and his staff are top notch. I am so glad I found a reliable and knowledgeable repair facility. I have been a loyal customer for 6 years and will continue to trust them with any vehicle I own. A+

Above and beyond, literally. I had a meeting in Rockford about 10 minutes away and my ride fell through. So Jim, (a very hands on boss) gets me a ride from one of his employees. Oh yeah, AND they do a great job, was done ahead of schedule, and pointed out some minor issues with tires and told me about upcoming things to think about with the longevity of my vehicle.

I went here for the first time a couple of months ago with a muffler issue. Since I dont know the first thing about mufflers, they could have told me I needed the whole thing redone. But what they did was tell me exactly what was wrong and what it would take to repair....which was much less than I anticipated paying. They were friendly, courteous and quick! I will definitely go back for needed service in the future!

My father had me go there to get his tire changed and called for a quote on the cost. When I got there I were charged almost $50 more than what was told, which I wasnt aware of until I got home and talked with my dad. They didnt factor in some things in the cost, which may have been the mistake of an employee. We were also told it would take a couple of hours but it ended up taking nearly 5 hours. The man who drove us back to our house was very friendly and welcoming. The staff in general was really friendly and nice. When we questioned the cost when picking up the car they took time to explain it and break it down. It just sucks that the employee who gave us the quotes left out some of the costs. But besides that they had good customer service!

Justin kept me up to date on my repairs, Gina got me a loaner car so that I was not stranded. My car was fixed in 2 days and Justin called 2 days later to check to see that I was satisfied. Very impressed.
