Brothers Ken and Tim Nelson have built a successful business over the decades catering to local do-it-yourselfers just like me. They’ll answer your questions and offer advice even if you don’t buy anything. I also like the fact that they employ local kids in the summer and year round.Small neighborhood hardware stores like this are a dying breed. I try to support local businesses whenever I can, so I make it a point to shop at Rural Supply whenever I need anything for my home or garden. You should too!

This is a business I have been frequenting for 50 years. Ken and Tim are the two owners and you couldnt ask for more help than they will give you when youre looking for something. Definitely a Los Gatos five star business!

Rural Supply is a throwback to the hardware stores of my youth. I have been going there for years and have always had great customer service.Id like to share an example....Several years ago me and some of the other dads were changing out the lights on the Baseball scoreboard at LGHS and we needed an extension ladder...I ran over to RSH and found the ladder we needed, as I was checking out, the owner Tim asked me what I was doing, as we were talking he asked me how was I going to get that ladder back to the school...well, I hadnt thought about that and without hesitation he said Take my truck and flipped me the keys...now he didnt know me from Adam at the time but he loaned a stranger his truck to get the job done and gained a loyal customer for life!

The owner/manager of this store, Ken, is very rude and unhelpful. I needed assistance for trying to find something in the store today. You cannot imagine how rude Ken was when I was unable to find what I was looking for. I will never shop in this store again!

Ken and Tim and the rest of their staff are always knowledgeable and eager to help. Its an amazingly well-stocked small hardware store.

Got a chimney sweep brush and extension poles at Rural Supply.Also had keys cut on custom reproduction Ford Mustang blanks I brought in.Also got numbered drill bits.Great place and good help.Cant get these items at the big home supply stores.

Going to Rural Supply is nothing like going to Home D. Its a step back in time to when real hardware men knew their business and their customers. Not minimum wage generic employees with limited knowledge.While they do carry all the latest stuff, they also keep some of the older, hard to find items. That is key if you have an older home.True, the prices may be a touch higher than HD, but you can easily get specific advice to go along with your purchase. That is priceless.

One employee had no mask, two other employees had them pulled down below their chin. Absolutely unacceptable and disgustingly negligent. They sure arent protecting the customer let alone themselves. Wont be coming back here again, thats for sure. That how you catch covid.

Small but excellent. Surprisingly good selection for a small local shop. Excellent technical help too. If youre over 65, simply ask to receive a 10% discount on any purchase.

One of the last hardware stores with old-time service where you walk in and ask anything you want. For over 20 years Ive known Tim and Ken Nelson whove owned the store. Honest, trustworthy - theyll sell you what you need and talk you through the job if you need it. In addition to hardware, all basic needs for farm and rural living sold here as well.

One brother...taller...so nice. Other brother is rude and un friendly. Convenient to shop here because I live in town.....but I would rather drive any distance to avoid that rude man. I have heard this from other people but experienced it first hand today. Would live to rate one star but like one brother so 2 stars

If you need expert advice with your hardware and staff to watch your back, these guys are the best!!!! Tested many many times over!!! Hearing the same from my neighbors too!!!

The selection is incredible. Its so small but Im usually more likely to go here than Lowes/HD/etc... for something I really need . Also more likely to go here if I need help understanding or finding something. No place I know has an overall friendlier and more helpful staff that sure seems to GENUINELY WANT TO HELP you.

The owner is very knowledgable and ready to give tips on what i need to do/buy to complete my job. I usually explain my task rather than ask for a specific thing since i never know what the dohicky that fixes the whatchamacallit is properly named. Also perfectly willing to refer me to a big box if they dont have the part. The staff of mostly highschool kids (if you miss the owner) is more helpful than my big box experiences too. I always try here first.
