This is my go to coffee place. They have great breakfast options and this weekend I bought some bread. They gave me the wrong bread I came in today 3 days later and mentioned it to them so I would know how to order better and I was given the bread I originally wanted. I love places like these with great customer service. Thank you guys will be back again and again.
Nice place. I like Turkey Sandwich and fries 😍 so delicious 👌 also chai latte and macha is perfect 😋
No WiFi available….that makes literally no sense
In the city, there is a really good restaurant. I appreciated how careful and professional your waiter was in his treatment of us. The food was also very delicious and appealing. Furthermore, the net cost was very reasonable. This is a must-see!
I’m not a fan of eating out when the food is easy to make at home. Over priced, for a small portion ($13 for this), but worst of all they were out of the home made potato bun this was supposed to come with, they offered a croissant, but failed to tell me they would still charge the full price for the croissant. Luckily I caught it and opted for the sourdough bread without an extra cost. The sandwich was still decent, but you’re paying for atmosphere. Watch out you don’t get charged extra for something. Go down the street to Bolt for a better experience.
Not much of a hidden gem at this point. Top notch pastries (esp. the laminated ones like croissants). Breads are amazing too. Get there early though as they sell out regularly!
They make a mean chocolate croissant- best Ive had in LA. Its more than a bar of chocolate with bread wrapped around it. The butter croissant is always crunchy, flaky on the out side and delicate yumminess on the inside. Occasionally Ill grab a pre-made tuna or prosciutto on a roll to take on a hike. One day Ill have to try something else on the menu :)
Surprise surprise! This beautifully designed bakery-cafe is the quintessential East Hollywood eatery.Gracious interior architecture, high quality kitchen instruments on display, and comfortable seating.Very popular for breakfast! 🍪✨I cant remember what that slice of cake was in the photo but it was doughy and delicious.
Stopped by here after the hollywood farmers market. Everything here is delectable!!! We ordered so many pastries and goodies that we didnt realize they had so many yummy sounding egg options! Next time. The mushroom cheese pastry was AMAZING!! The almond raspberry coffee cake was great. Hubs had the ham cheese and pickle sandwich which he devoured. We have a rhubarb financier, bluberry blue corn scone, cinnamon morning bun, citrus muffin and cheese biscuit to go.
Dan the owner is outstanding. Diego serves coffee with a smile. Im a big fan of their salads, sandwiches and pastries. I also love their bread. This place is worth checking out for coffee and a something to eat. A neighborhood recommend with a family feel.
I remember this place for before, well established Panos Pastry Shop. The owners years ago moved to Canada and the place was vacant for quite few years.New Friends and Family small snacks, sandwiches and Coffee servings eatery, was closed for most of Covid-19 interval of closure.I would not present it as great gathering with same attributes, as the name attribute, but for neighborhood of mine its an excellent, a little different place to sip coffee eat, read, or work online for a short time and finally to keep conversation, and its mostly family or friends oriented place indeed.RZED.
Incredible crossaint. Super flaky and tasty
I miss having coffee and a pastry here in person! We love to walk to Friends & Family just to pick up a pastry or a loaf of bread. I think that is really where this place shines—their baking! The croissants are the best I have found in LA, flaky and delicious. I love the plain and chocolate croissants, but the pistachio and halva are excellent as a special treat as well! I haven’t tried a single thing from their pastry case that wasn’t delicious. The loaves of bread are expensive but worth it in my opinion. I think they are around $9 for a sourdough boule? The baguettes are a more affordable option if you’re looking for something equally tasty! They have a tendency to sell out of baked goods on the weekends so get there early if you want to snag the best stuff!
Mushroom quiche is very good, and croissants are lovely and flaky - chocolate and ham+gruyere. They have a few tables available for outdoor seating now along the sidewalk.
Excellent quality, knowledgeable staff
Downgrading my review from 4 stars to 2. I initially loved this neighborhood place. But the staff is becoming more and more obtuse and the atmosphere less friendly. I recently got a touch of food poisoning after eating here. I wouldnt say that is the norm. But it happened and I most likely wont return for a long time.
Found two small, curly hairs in my order of the beef hash. One right on top of the eggs and the other mixed in to the sauce. Who knows how many other hairs there might have been, I threw it in the trash.
Quick counter service breakfast/lunch bakery with lots of tasty healthy options.i love the macro bowl & chocolate Croissant to even it out.
Great to go or sit down cafe. Friendly staff. Quick service. Everything you order is wonderful! All of their ingredients are fresh! Definitely a go to for breakfast and brunch!
This is one of my most favorite places to eat. The food is awesome and the workers are friendly and very helpful. If you want great food, order here. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love this little gem of a cafe! They have fresh, delicious breads and pastries and a breakfast/lunch menu with more yummy food. Their food is fresh beautiful. And the staff is very friendly, too. Needless to say, I stop as often as I can.
Best produce I’ve had since this the Corona Virus the breakfast was fresh and the best I’ve had ever in Hollywood in 20 years! 👏
They have tasty bread and pastries, and awesome food if your going for that kinda breakfast (the kinds that isnt grab and go)
Great pastries with nice vine selection
I cant recommend this place enough. The best break, pastries, brunch, and bread of course. Oh and coffee
Loved the natural vibe.. delicious breakfast.. I had Fried eggs in olive oil, etc.. I was not a fan of the coffee. I always drink French/dark roast, but this was very bitter and acidic. Wait service would be nice instead of waiting in line. But, I still thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Ill come back if Im in the area.
Freshness abounds even if the portions may be a tad skimpy for the price point. But good menu options and an easy-going atmosphere lends to an overall enjoyable experience. A total recommend.
Best bakery in LA and in CA?
Good quality food. Most lunch items are $10-$15. Food is more on the savory side. Baguette is crusty and delicious. Lots of seating some street parking was available at lunch on a weekday.
The place is excellent and roomy, the menu was yummy and the prices were very affordable. fast, productive service and very welcoming staff members. I recommend this place.
It was so fresh. Certainly worth a return trip. The bill was good for how much you get. Feeling here is like a restaurant in Fort Worth I liked.
Absolutely delicious. The baked goods are to die for. The ginger scone is absolute joy. Perfectly buttery, light yet dense, with candied ginger dotted throughout, topped with crunchy sugar. Croissants are perfectly flaky in all of its stuffed and plain forms. Spelt blueberry muffin in perfectly sweet and fruity without being a sugar overload. Staff is efficient and friendly. This has become my once a week stop for coffee and pastry and I couldn’t be happier.
Their halva croissants, which by the way are only available on the weekend, are THE BEST!!! Also the olive oil egg dish is so full of flavor and has fun interesting ingredients. Great oat milk lattes and pastries and I will definitely be back!!
I love the interior of the shop. I just got an americano and ricotta lemon pound cake which were perfectly delicious but Id like to return to try their menu and other specialties.
Nice location to meet with family. The service was helpful and kind. I can see why they have a lot of good reviews.
Super cute spot with great baked goods and casual homey atmosphere! Definitely worth a visit!
UPDATE: OK, the food is undeniably good! Still bad experience though. They need to try harderUnbelievable bad service. Two busboys saw us standing over the only available table for 4 (which was dirty), and proceeded to clean up every other table in the room except ours. I had to grab napkins and clean the table myself for our party. Everyone working here looks like they hate their lives and if course the customers... No food is worth the humiliation and effort. Shame
They have a wonderful and unique and VERY VERY fresh selection ofhomemade pastry and bread and Im about to rush out to buy someting called Chocolate coffee loaf. I MUST ALSO ADD they are NOW OPENfor dinner and the MENU seems enticing, although it is NOT cheap. But then nothing first rate is anymore. I want to try a varietyof items, which are served for dinner which start at 5;30!! Theplace has become VERY popular for coffee and pastries soI can only add my kudos to what is offered, first rate selection.
Awesome, ridiculously awesome pastries. Great ambiance. Food is OK, but thats not really why you would go there. Get their croissants!!!
Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. Nothing but great experiences here. The place has a nice atmosphere. Reminds me of a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed.
Great food with excellent service. Right on Hollywood Blvd. Love small places like this that focus on atmosphere and service. Will return!!!!
Unbelievably good. Reminiscent of Gourmet Ghetto places in Berkeley. Drastically raises the bar for East Hollywood. And its still pretty easy to walk into. This place is, for my money, an alternative to Sqirl.
I loved my egg sandwich with delicious bacon and a fresh side salad
I came into Cruzer a couple of months ago during my 30-day vegan fast.
Visited about four, it was not full. The service was friendly and sociable. Menu is similar to a restaurant in Jacksonville I liked.
Eat at Friends and Family. The people are welcoming and the baked goods (breads and pastries) are delicious. Ask for the granola scones or come for lunch and a locally brewed beer. Good people; good food.
Their potato salad is a winner!
Incredible food, service, and ambiance. The pastries are a standout, even in an area of town filled with great pastries from a variety of cultures and baking disciplines. The California Cherry salad with Speck and Burrata was absolutely wonderful. Im really glad there is a new destination breakfast spot in Thai Town.
Amazing pasteries and coffee. Brunch menu has a large variety of dishes and everything we had was absolutely delicious. All the flavors were exciting and well balanced. All tastes very fresh. This place delivers on flavors. I could compare it with a place like Tartine in San Francisco but I actually think Friends & Family is better. They also have ice cream and make bagels in house. Coffee from Counter Culture. Service was nice. You order at counter and they bring it to your table.
Their breads are awesome!
Wonderful baked goods, delicious for breakfast and lunch. I love the baked pancake.
This place is super bougie, and overpriced. I payed 20 bucks plus for a very mediocre bagel with very bad lox. Its frustrating cause its the kinda meal you can get from a Bodega in NYC for 7 bucks. Just really overpriced and very mediocre food. They should spend less on the chairs more on the food. The wait staff was great though.Im not coming back anytime soon. Bolt, Cafe 101, and a few other places are much better on the same neighborhood.
Super delicious quiche, I was surprised only $6, for a quality ingredients food. Very nice comfy atmosphere.
This place has homemade ice cream so sweet n good Ive had breakfast here twice great place 😉🐕 this spot is a must very quaint
Had a sister come into town and asked me to take her here again. prices are decent. ambience reminds me of san diegos scene.
This place will surprise you. i had a brother come into town and asked me to take him back here. i can see why they have a lot of great reviews.
Amazing breakfast. Highly recommend the pistachio almond croissant.
Nice place to relax, people watch, eat good, etc. the service here is better than most. prices were fair.
Visited on a Wednesday I think. Ive had nothing but enjoyable experiences here and plan to keep visiting. Reminds me of a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed.
Great little cafe. Good coffee and good variety of seating and breakfast items with some interesting non mainstream pallette choices... like the olive oil fried eggs with harissa. Get there early and you can enjoy a nice spot for reading, a chat, or work from your laptop.
Interesting menu. Very fresh. A bit sterile interior. Would go back though. Hip music.
Very filling. looking forward to returning with my coworkers. the bill wont shock you. mood here is similar to fresnos scene.
Casual nice. Very difficult area for parking. Excellent bakery items in a light casual atmosphere
Good pastries and great coffee in a casual and relaxed setting. very kind and helpful staff.
Over-hyped, from my experience. Really cold service on a Sunday morning, with only cold fried chicken, straight from the fridge, sub-par health food, and fly-ridden pastries for my troubles. The Baked Buckwheat Pancakes were good, but not enough to make me want to come back. The prices are up there for what you get, and the parking situation is horrendous any day of the week.
Great place to chill, get away, eat some good food. The staff was very welcoming and observant.
Cute coffee shop to work in. Amazing pastries.
Hilariously overpriced. I dont mind the bob burgers meets millenial look of the staff and the place. I also must admit the quality of the food is really good but you pay about 300% of what you should pay. The orange juice came in a 200ml jam jar which I guess was intended to make it look groovy. For 2 sandwiches, 2x tea, 1x orange juice and 1x pastrie we had to pay $ 50,00. You decide weither or not that is a fair (trade) price. Never again.
Nice coffee shop with breads and desert. Plenty of spaces. No parking.
Service is always excellent even when they have a full house.
New. Friendly. Homemade food, ice cream, and pastries. Every item is delicious. Also - white wine and rosë in every shape and size FTW.
Tasty and interesting pastries and dishes! Excellent, flavorful iced coffee. But they have a fly problem - tons eating the pastries.
This review is biased since I only had one thing there and many of the items looked really good. I ordered an everything bagel with butter and the bagel, while not exceptional was ok but the butter was ice cold and I had to mangle the thing in order to spread it around. I cant recommend the bagel and butter so try something else if youre here.
Ill return friends next time. like a restaurant in washington i loved.
Atmosphere is like a restaurant in Fort Worth I loved.
So good!!!
Had a tea and cake, good quality, lots of room to sit, tons of natural light.
Wide range of super delicious pastries, bread and cafe style dishes. All made in house.
THE OWNER ACTUALLY WORKS HIS ASS OFF. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS. SMOKED SALMON MY FAVORITE.
A pleasant café, but really people: this is Thai Town, not Beverly Hills. 12 bucks for 2 fried eggs doesnt fly in this neighborhood.
OK café. Breakfast was good, a bit overpriced in my opinion.... But hey, its Los Angeles, and Im from San Diego. Everything in LA is more expensive than in San Diego.
This ham and gruyère croissant is so much better than most of those you can find in France ! Congrats ! No photo, I’ve already eaten all of it ! Delicious
This place really surprised me with their hash and olive oil eggs. Walking distance and well worth the walk.
A huge mistake selection for breakfast! Very much over priced!
Great place for Sunday brunch. The buckwheat pancake was delicious and the eggwich was outstanding!
Delicious and a great space to work or meet friends!
Good local place for breakfast, coffee.
A favorite evening place of mine. Nothing but pleasant experiences here. Bring your hunger - portions are large.
Hip neighborhood hangout, elegant coffee and light food.
Pastries and other baked goods made with whole grains (much of it grown in SoCal like Sonora wheat) and savory brunch classics like quiche with a Pacific Coast twist (Dungeness crab) in a hipster diner/cafe setting. The highlight of our brunch was definitely the buckwheat pancake with seasonal compote.Friends & Family seems like a work in progress, but I’m rating it 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 mainly for the buckwheat pancake, which I loved.I missed the opportunity to try the chefs’ dishes at the old Cooks County a few years ago, but glad Daniel Mattern and Roxana Jullapat opened up their own place in Hollywood. Looking forward to trying more dishes and bakery items in the future.
Really nice, good menu, solid preparation. Nice vibe.
