5 stars isnt enough for this place, Id give it 10 stars. I absolutely love this shop whenever Im in the area. I love how it is still family run after 75 years, and Im happy that its still in good hands. For those who are in the area, I very highly recommend visiting and doing business here. Also, as someone who loves to burn incense once in a while, they do have a great selection of incense to choose from.
What a wonderful store with a great selection of plates, tea cups, etc. Awesome prices, awesome selection, friendly service. Absolutely a cant miss! Check out their online store now too to scratch that itch.
Such a wonderful store. The people working there are so helpful. I needed a clay donabe for 1 pot nabe and they had just what I was looking for. I got a set of bowls and a sake set along with some other little things and it was all very affordable. They have some very interesting things in this shop. I stopped in close to closing so did not want to linger but I could probably spend an hour or two in there looking at everything. They have a second floor as well, but did not stop in there.
I have loved going to this store as long as I could remember. Everyone was very helpful, and even helped with suggestions on where I could find things if they did not have it themselves
Great place to buy traditional Japanese gifts.
Bunkado is a lovely place with historic and cultural value.
I was there yesterday and had a great time. It’s one of the original stores and pretty much the way I remembered it from the last time I was there 30 years ago. It has the best products for collectors of wonderful Japanese things. Nearly everything a person could imagine and more. The service was delightful, efficient and friendly. Part of the wonderful experience.I started coming here in like 1975. I bought my mother 2 dolls from this store in 1977/78(?) and she loved them. My mother was from Japan and she loved coming to little Tokyo. One of my fondest memories is of us shopping together at Bunkado. It was a great pleasure to return there with my husband and son yesterday for my birthday.I hope Bunkado will continue to be there in the future. Best wishes to you and yours.
This shop is great for getting those last minute souvenirs for friends and family. Great selection, reasonably priced but what makes this shop stand out from the rest (I visited 4 shops that same day) was the incredibly sweet owner. He was SO friendly and attentive. And so grateful which is just refreshing to come across. He kept thanking me for stopping by and shopping at his store. Such a pleasant experience. He offered a free pencil and eraser for my little ones.Postcards even. Great attention to detail. This shop is a gem :)
Bunkado is perfect for local small batch items and thoughtful gifts! We love the Alexs Ugly hot sauce, everything bagel pasta, hot & spicy honey and have purchased several great gifts there for the holidays. The owner is full of recommendations and knows the story behind all the items in the shop. Its wonderful!
Great Japanese gift shop with a wide variety of decorative and cultural crafts from Japan. It’s one of my favorite stores and where I buy many of my gifts for all occasions. The owner and her staff are very friendly and helpful!
