This is a gorgeous little book store that is much bigger than it seems. Theyve got a fantastic used book section and plenty of books to find.Definitely visit here if youre a used book lover.

I love this local bookstore! A while ago I had placed a hold on a book that I wanted to read and they called me when it became available. Since most of their stuff is used it is very affordable. Plus the bookshelves make the store feel very magical

Kathe, the owner, took the time to introduce me to their system of book exchange, which is the most generous I have seen of used book stores.Very friendly and happy to help workers. Store is spaced nicely for easy browsing without feeling claustrophobic. Well lit and clean.

Barbed Wire was able to get in a book I requested even faster than anticipated. I paid over the phone and was able to pick up the book easily, quickly & safely with a quick zip in and out. This is a great little shop were lucky to have in Longmont with both used and new books. Its well organized, the people are always very helpful/knowledgeable & have a great selection. Tons of used book selections for absolute amazing prices. Only thing I would recommend is the introduction of more foreign literature. Particularly South Asian and Islamic. Of course from personal taste but seemed relatively lacking in its presence.

I love Barb wire books! Ive been going here for years and cant believe I havent written a review yet. Any bookstore that will call you after 3+ years of being on a waiting list is worth repeat business and they always have a decent selection of both new and used books in a wide variety of categories, I read mainly fantasy and shop comics and I almost always find something in a drying up market for some older collectable books (forgotten realms in particular for me)

Absolutely incredible, wandered over with my 4yo while waiting for a table at Lucile’s and was blown away. The lady behind the counter was incredibly kind and engaging to my little one, finding books for him and speaking to him on his level, he still talks about how nice she was. The world needs more places like this, great store but the caring staff makes it place you want to support.

I went in to buy one book, left with 9 🤣🙃 and I fully expected the 8 I hadnt prepaid for to total over 100....NOPE! 65 fat ones 💃🏼

This place is awesome. I went in to find a book for my daughter. I will definitely be going back. They have about anything you would want, new or used. The owner (I think) was beyond kind and helpful. If you get a chance, stop in.

Everyone at this store is always super kind and helpful. Today, I brought in several books for trade credit, and the owner started sorting through them as soon as she could. I am always really impressed by how she and the rest of her staff manage to juggle multiple customers and tasks at once while being consistently kind and helpful. I cant recommend this place enough! One of the most positive atmospheres ever!

Barbed Wire Books is one of the best new / used book stores in northern Colorado, and has been in business for over 10 years. It includes a nice selection of new books, a very large selection of used books in all genres. The offering of U.S. history, American Indian history, and military history is outstanding.Barbed Wire books will also accept trade-ins for most books, DVDs, and audiobooks towards purchase from their used inventory.

Kathy and her staff are always a pleasure to to deal with. Has pretty much of what you want for a used book store. The help is friendly and willing to help you anyway they can in finding what you are looking for and if they dont have it they will try and get it from another store and hold it till you can get in to pick it up

One of my favorite bookstores. A fine selection of new and used books. Truth be told though, its worth the trip just to see the ever changing amazing and creative store front. I dont live in Longmont, but did about 7 years ago. Now its once or twice per year. Quite amazing to me is that the owner always remembers me, my name, my kids, my partner at the time, etc. In my experience, this kind of care is really rare. She seems to love what she does, and I have ended up chatting with her about interesting things many many times. FYI, shes there every day but Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I’ve always encountered friendly and helpful staff and have had them reserve and special order a number of books. They seem to do a brisk business in trade-ins as well.I buy a lot of stuff online, but I try to make sure my book budget stays local because places like this are a valuable addition to our community. They have a nice selection of books about the area and regularly host a variety of events in the store.Good stuff!

I never like to leave negative comments about a business, but I have to about this one. I contacted the two Longmont bookstores and sent each a list of books my daughter needed for school. Since this bookstore decided not to check for the books I was looking for, I went into the store to search for them myself. I was told at the front counter that they were busy with books that someone dropped off and she had no time to help me. I asked if there was anyone else in the store that could possibly help me. Lucky for me they had one other person in the store that could give me a few moments to check the computer for 5 book titles. He did and I am grateful but, to be honest, every time I have been in this book store they have made it evident with their rudeness that they do not value their customers. The woman at the front desk was so incredibly unfriendly it was as if she was saying “we don’t need your business and the customer who dropped off their books and is not even in the store is much more important than you are.” This is obviously a very unhappy woman because it exudes from her. She did not say “hello” or “if you can wait just a minute, I’ll be with you as soon as I can” - anything to indicate that they wanted my business. Instead she said “I’m busy.” Incredible. Meanwhile The Book Emporium was awesome! They got back to me the same day that I sent the list of books (7 book list) my daughter needed. They were also incredibly kind and friendly. So my suggestion to anyone who is looking for friendly and helpful service.... go to any other book store but this one.

Absolutely love this place! Im in pretty often. They have a really good selection of books, and will help you find anything you may be looking for. They have both new and used books. Its a really nice environment. Im surprised they dont know me by name already just from going to much.

Very good prices. The staff varies, depends on whos working. Theres one lady thats amazing,funny and wonderful.(I will get her name next time I go in). They didnt have a few books we were looking for. But after you get treated nicely,it not to frustrating. If you like to read, go there..their prices are about 50% cheaper the Barnes and noble.

Hands down one of the best independently owned book stores on the Front Range. The selection and prices are some of the best youll find in the Longmont/Boulder area, and Ive never felt pressured by the Owner (Kathe), or the friendly, bespectacled dude (Dustin), to make a purchase. I have a tendency to browse their titles for hours, and Ive always felt welcomed in doing so. A real gem, and an easy recommendation for the curious, thrifty reader.

Everyone in town should come here! If they dont have something, theyll order it for you. AND youll get a discount from the list price. They maintain waitlists for used books, too. Every staff member is kind and knowledgeable. Ive stopped getting any books from Amazon, etc, and just call BWB with any book I need.

My favorite place in Longmont. I have been going there since it open, in the middle of the Great Recession (pretty gutsy to open, when it seemed that bookstores were going the way of the horse carriages). It survived and thrived, which seems miraculous, but it is not: the selection, the atmosphere, the staff, the building itself are all unique, and explain BWBs success. If you are into books, or into Longmont, make sure you visit.

I love this place I have never gone in there and not walked out without having a new book in my hands.

This is my favorite used book store in the town of Longmont. Ive known Kathy since before she opened the barbed wire books and she has been my favorite proprietor and employee of used book stores for 15 years. There is an incredibly huge selection of used books that may be acquired with trade-in credit. they have also recently expanded to selling plenty of new books and theyre always happy to order anything youre looking for. When Borders closed somebody needed to step up and start selling good new books, coloring books, journals tarot cards, all of these things and barbed wire books fills that that need in our community. Everybody who works there is respectful and knowledgeable. Kathy also hosts a number of events at her bookstore specifically around Cowboy Poetry, Western writers, and musicians. There are always a lot of book signings there every year. She also hosts a couple of different book clubs and discussion groups in the bookstore. I always find something Im not looking for.

Fantastic bookstore here! Had a blast browsing thru the used section and I cant wait to go back and check out the new stuff! Great parking behind the wenchels parking spots and still plenty of nearby street parking. So much packed in to a pretty big space to begin with so it will take you some time to make it around in one go. Super friendly vibe too Ill have to be back
