A legend, icon and all around awesomeness is what youll find at The World Famous VIP long beach. They have hard to find music CDs, tapes and records of all types of music, from Gospel, Hip Hop, reggae, R&B, Jazz, and blues. If youre a collector in search of hard to find music and much more. This is a Historical location and international tourist stop inLong beach, ca.When you visit you feel like family.
Although its not on the old spot anymore you still can taste the vibe of the old days (for me it felt that way) on a footnote: Google tells you that the shop is closed on Sundays but isnt true. They are open on Sundays. Kelvin the owner was so friendly and kind. Talking history and taking photos with me. Due to the digital music era the sales of CDs are low... And they have a lot of them. They are planning to start a recording studio and still have renovate a lot. But its worth visiting them! Iconic shop, iconic people, iconic friendly!!
One stop shop to get all the great music you need.
The owner is very nice and he showed me around and told me stories! They sell merchandise and very good records, if you love old school hiphop like me then I definitely recommend stopping by for a few
Nice place, but there‘s allways a guy dacin on the roof
A must-stop musical landmark in LB
Most people think the World Famous VIP isnt there anymore but IT IS Mr Calvin Anderson still runs the store daily they have old school records and tapes will make you a CD or download music for you they sell shirts but before long beach certified or any other Long Beach t shirts came out you could get a Long Beach World Famous VIP T-shirt and you still can next time youre in the area stop at the VIP and show some support for Calvin and his contribution to the music you hear today and grab a shirt
Its not the same place as the picture. Thats the old building which has now become a 7-Eleven. VIP Records still exists and is still super cool, but its just a few doors down on PCH now.

Great place with wonderful owner. Lot of history lots of records. Still looks to improving young lives with music
Did you know, A South Korean boy band, stepped in the store, with the company of Warren G. And that band was BTS!
I LOVE KELVIN THANK YOU FOR THE SUPERBOWL SHIRTS ME GINA....
Visited here from Montreal back in summer of 94 and the roof still had the black canvas from shooting the Snoop video, life long memory!!!
Came here a month ago for my sisters competition at the Long Beach convention center, very friendly. Got some nice old records and cool shirts
The Center of the Universe the place Stars were made and yes I am 1 of them!!!
Being a rapper myself this place has a special place in my heart. I grew up on the mean streets of Hermosa Beach so know what its like growing up struggling and it reflects in my music. I had to learn to play golf on a PUBLIC course, ya no silver spoon in my mouth. When I turned 16 I didnt get a my dream car of a 64 impala that I had fantasized about while surfing next to the pier in my hood. Nope I had to let my driver continue to chauffeur me around because of safety at my stupid moms insistence. I knew I had to find my own way. I started making some serious dough once I started slinging out drugs. Yup. Right after I graduated Med school (USC not Harvard like my parents because I told you Im totally street) I was writing prescriptions left and right. What chu got? Sore throat? Pyrilamine-chlophedianol-acetaminophen. Bam! Infection? Bam! Fluoroquinolones. Ya son thats the way I handle bushiness. Take it with plenty of water (40 ounces of course) and food and see me again in a week. Peace.
Mr Anderson was very professional When meeting him for the first time Today. I was family! Tip of The Iceberg Entertainment and Tha Monstaz Look Froward To A Long Partnership with VIP Records. Phyllis Kay Jones and Michael Blaylock.
I started my Blacksploitation collection thru VIP back in 2008-ish. Everyone always treats me like family. Mr. Anderson is a class act and does not mind sharing his experience as a business man. I miss having access to those dvds. Maybe someone can expand their site so I can place some orders?
