Great food options at this cute diner-like breakfast spot. We tried the Strawberry cream cheese flaky french toast, as well as the chicken and waffles. The french toast was cooked to perfection, the only thing I would note is that they put A LOT of pink colouring in the filling (looks a bit too artificial to my taste). The chicken and waffles was very tasty, with pieces of bacon cooked inside the waffle. Overall very satisfied with our experience, definitely come in with a good appetite as portions as hefty!
First time going here.Let me preface this by saying I have no problem paying for quality... But this place just doesnt deliver. Paid extra to upgrade to asada for my breakfast because I try not to eat pork. They just took the meat off the meal and charged me separately for it... Fine, I can understand that, I guess. But then this amount is what I get? Weak. Also, you forgot the toast for my order. Overpriced for what you get. Do yourself a favor, save your money and go somewhere else.
Great food selections and service. The staff was able to accommodate me, my friend and his son 100%. Ive been going to this resturant since 2009 and have always had a great experince. Cheers to the owner Kevin and his wife Mercedes! I recommend this to anyone local or visitors.
This place was so good, all of their food was very enjoyable and tasty. And not to mention they are dog friendly as well! ππΌ Cant wait until i am able to go back.
I blew their mind by responding by ordering a double order of eggs and bacon. They responded by giving me a single order the original amount the 1st time and a singular extra item when I retold them my order. Definitely not a double order and very much ruined my experience
Food is good but the wait isnt worth it always
Great service, a menu that has something for everyone. The salad was perfect and the dressing seemed homemade it was so good. Great pricesIt was beautiful sitting in the morning Sun on the patio and enjoying the outdoors.Their server #Erika gave me a great recommendation and provided me top notch service I felt very taken care of! Great energy and very welcoming
Great quality, great tasting food with great service! Highly recommend the French Toast! Also the Chicken and Waffles. They have a large menu so there is something good for everybody.
My son took me for breakfast here and I was impressed. The menu had a large selection of dishes and the food was good. Our waiter provided excellent service. Enjoyable experience
Very good food, friendly atmosphere, fast service....Went in the early afternoon, avoiding a lot of the Morning and brunch rush. Was seated right when arriving, and everything was clean.Portions are nice and plenty, French toast is stuffed, with strawberry cream cheese filling. And they have a nice variant of syrup, boysenberry.
I have been going to pot holders for years I love their food and love their service but to my dismay when I ordered the super spuds they were nothing more then hash browns with a couple of slices of avocado and Tiny mushroom bits...
We timed it and sat there 20 minutes without a single person stopping to take our order or even ask if we wanted anything to drink. Other tables next to us were serviced. Brought it up to the manager and he didnβt seem to be too surprised so I guess ignoring come customs over others is normal. Not worth so we left
Highly recommend brunch place in downtown long beach. Awesome mimosa and food choices plus their servers are highly efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Will come back for another round of brunch
Good food and GREAT service!! Great place for the family or a couple... Breakfast is always good here!!
I had there enchiladas with chicken Verde the sauce was delicious! Chicken was a little dry but doable. They gave a lot of what would appear as mashed potatoes without the milk and butter. My kids had the mickey mouse pancake that looked like it wanted its life to be ended and the lil Frankie which came with eggs and bacon. Overall pretty good food and service. Our whole meal came out to under 40$. They do get busy plan to go before 9am.
Waited a little over an hour on a Sunday Morning for a party of 8. Most parties of two where sitting in at about 20 to 30 minute wait. Luckily they are now Dining both inside and outside! This was our first time here and I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. The spontaneous art, random framed photos, and colorful 90s diner plates threw me off but our food & service was devine. While their menu may be overwhelming at first glance, serving a vast variety of breakfast options from omelets to chilaquiles, youll be sure to find something for everyone here. We went with the Denver omlettes & potatoes which seemed to be their specialty here and let me just say those were quite frankly the best omlettws weve had in a long time π While the dishes & indoor space itself may not be very photogenic or instagramable like other breakfast cafes, this classic dinner is surly at the top of our Must Try breakfast spots in Long Beach! Definitely worth the wait ππ
A great neighborhood eatery. The food is pretty standard diner fare with some SoCal flare that makes it feel more modern but not in a pretentious way. The service staff is always top notch and the chefs have never disappointed on food quality. They have a good amount of outside seating and I believe they allow dogs out there. Hours are limited at this location but itβs the best place to eat breakfast anywhere downtown.
Stuffed french toast covered with fruity pebbles !!!! OMG !!! I found a new must have. This place is awesome. The menu has a big selection with various combos Ive never heard and want to try them all. The staff was super nice and kept checking in on our large group. Our cups stayed filled with water, juice and the bottomless mimosas. Delish !! Ill make a point to stop by here every chance I get to make my way through the menu. Prices are decent not to high nor low. The food quality is wonderful. Nothing we had was cooked wrong or tasteless. Excellent work !!
The Potholder Cafe, my official review. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, although the booth had minimal legroom. There are cute surfboards on the wall to remind you youre close to the beach even though there are skyscrapers surrounding you.The food! Very good. Eat it.The breakfast burritos (plural) are delicious and I added chorizo for added deliciousness. The enchiladas were moist, inviting, saucy, and corn tortillay. Very good overall. I would definitely come back.
Decent enough breakfast. Service was slow for Early morning. Our server forgot several items we had ordered
A good restaurant to eat, some great breakfast and lunch plus dinner, they offer inside and outside dinning. A nice place to dine.
Loved this place...the food and the people. Im new to the neighborhood and tried this place for the first time this weekend. The have vegan and gluten free options...their fruity pancackes are awesome! And they even have huge mimosas with different juices to choose from. Stop by if you are around and hungry, you wont regret it.
Good variety of food, Rickys Machaca or the Machaca Monday(weekday special) is really good. The lemonade is fresh.
If you are hitting one of them conference on Long Beach skip the continental breakfast and walk to Potholder Cafe, youβll thank us later...The Potholder Cafe is the undisputed King of Long Beach when it comes to breakfast, which we proudly serve all day. Weekday mornings and early afternoons find plenty of starving artists and blue-collar diners wolfing down stacks of pancakes and bacon, and youβll see the occasional yuppie munching down a Chinese Chicken Salad from the healthy side of the menu. Weekends are packed with hungry friends and families enjoying the atmosphere and history of this Belmont Heights landmark.Bring in a photo of yourself holding an βEat At The Potholderβ sign from anywhere in the world and join our wall of fame and score a free breakfast!
Food is good and the portions are big. The breakfast potatoes are very good and will leave you stuffed. Unlimited coffee refills are great and they even gave me a cup to go. Staff are nice and service is good and fast.
One of the best local spots for a good old american breakfast, I always order the couch special with a bloody marry. They have a huge menu and something for everyone. I live near by and I visit at least once a week!
I dont know whats so special about this place. Cheap greasy food.
Bad Customer Service⦠They have a sign posted saying short staffed. Must have 20 employees working. After waiting 20 mins and watching the staff catch up on their gossip I was finally able to get a refill on my coffee. Still had to wait longer just to get the check. Definitely my worst experience here.
The food was great!Service was average.Overall a good experience. Will be back again!
Food was great. Only thing I didnt like was that the iced coffee came as black and not creamy but it wasnt a big deal. Definitely coming back if I ever go back to Long Beach.
THE FOOD IS GREAT ... BUT THE LADY IN THE FRONT HAS THE WORSE ATTITUDE EVERY TIME .. FOOD GREAT BUT SERVICE SUCKS AT THE FRONT FOR SURE
They have such an awesome selection on their menu! I had a yummy omelette and some breakfast potatoes.
Ordered this place through grub hub and it was horrible. The bill was over $100 dollars, was missing an entree, was extremely cold, the mickey pancakes looked like a pregnant woman or something else π€ my biscuits and gravy were burned to the top of the container they came in. It was disgusting! Grub hub driver was cool. Not a fault of grub hub but the restaurant itself. Not sure how to post a photo on my review otherwise I would. Probably best for the restaurant that I dont.
Donβt recommend coming unless youβre fine with waiting for 20+ minutes without even being asked for water by a server. Service was completely unacceptable and a huge turn off, will not be back
Love these kind of places that have that old school coffee shop feels! First timer here, and let me tell you everything on the menu looks great! I try to eat mostly vegan these days and they had a good amount of vegan and vegetarian options! I was soo torn between the Benedict, the burrito and 2 other items, ended up with the vegan burritos! It was everything and more than what i was anticipating. Also, im a tea kinda girl, so i felt like a princess when they brought different types of tea bags to choose from! Little things definitely matter to me!AND for the non-vegans!!! The menu looked epic! If it was just the vegan items i wouldve had the hatdest time choosing what to eat.Servers there were really helpful, kind and always on it with refills of water and hot water.
I ordered for myself a make your own. I ordered eggs with cheese on top and corned beef hash. Their was barely any eggs! All I saw was the potatoes in the hash. My brother ordered a turkey sandwhich with curly fries. The fries were so good and so was the sandwhich. My dad ordered a hot pastrami sandwhich. It was overcooked. The bread was not good. The salad was not good.
Its a nice little breakfast restaurant, very good omelets and potatoes. Not too pricey....
Good food, but great service. Very helpful navigating our sons allergies
Very well managed. Great location downtown. Clean. Well lit. inside/outdoor seating. Parking. Lots of food options. Great staff...
Food was good had so much left over we are going back again soon.
This potholder is great. Dont go to the one in Los Alamitos.
Best breakfast in the area!! Its still legit when you order takeout π
Great service, not so great food. Below average coffee!!
Have been there like 5 times . Order different meals each time. Today we ordered the breakfast quesadilla, we both were dissapointed cheese and eggs inside look like it was a brush of cheese and a few pieces of egg. It was so flat, was suppose to have salsa inside and out but there was none, one tiny piece of avocado. And jalapenos on top which was not even in the description on the menu. Wont order that again. Will be going back and try more dishes.
Took my grandmother here for her 86th birthday breakfast and didnt have a good experience at all. We asked the hostess if we could sit on the patio. She said sit anywhere we like so we did. After waiting 20 minutes for someone to come out and take our order I finally had to go in and flag down a server.I ended up ordering the Mexican scrambler which was $14. For that price point I was expecting something kind of special. Instead what can out was a pile of ingredients just thrown poorly together. The quality was terrible too, it had steak but the steak was like trying to chew pieces of a rubber tire or something.Service was off also with staff getting confused about which tables were which and our drinks left unfilled.Sadly this place is not for me do to price vs. quality and service. I would sit and have a cup of coffee here in the patio with my dogs but that would be it.
Potholder Too is the bomb. One word: Super Spuds! OK maybe thats two words but when you add a cup of their rich coffee and a hobo omelet, youre good for the day. It was a treat sitting at the counter watching plate after loaded plate of delicious come out and the staff is just terrific. Cant recommend this place enough whether you are a local or visiting from out of town. For the locals theres also The Potholder a Long Beach favorite for decades.
I was so excited to try this place, waited 30 mins to be seated which was fair, got our drinks quickly, but waited over an hour for food, I figured they were super busy so it would be a longer wait time which was ok, but then tables that were seated before us got their food, had to wave down our waitress to ask about our food, who hadnt been around to see if we wanted refills on drinks which were empty by that point, and she stated our food was missed and would be out shortly, maybe she forgot to put in our order? Got our food, requested ketchup, and nothing, had to wave her down again to ask for ketchup, hot sauce and napkins at that point, sucks :(. I wasnt expecting a full comp on the check, but maybe a drink or 2 comped, but nothing, super sad about this experience.
The food was delicious and my favorite part of the restaurants decor is the comfy blue chairs.
Not a fan. Fresh juice was fermented...pancakes were uncooked
Enjoyed my breakfast here with my friends. it was mind blowing atmosphere at this cafe. I loved everything.
Place is pet friendly. Servers are nice, food not so much
Great Hangover Food! I had the chilaquiles with Soy chorizo and they were perfect! I also had a waffle. My wife had the Flintstone french toast (a little greasy for us) eggs and plant-based sausage. Over all we enjoyed our food. I would come back just for the chilaquiles!!
Slow service, food is poorly cooked and servers donβt know orders. Also service is very slow did I say that already, it was not busy? This place needs work especially with better breakfast spots in LA.
The food and service was amazing. I had the Hobo omelette and subbed the potatoes for refried beans and the flour tortillas instead of toast. My partner had the the ABC omelette and subbed fried spinach for the potatoes. We loved breakfast so much that we came back the next day and had exactly the same thing.
Great breakfast choices and mimosas.
I had the couch. its a little of everything. Fluffy Pancakes, bacon, eggs, potatoes, sausage... so yummy. I will be back for more.
Food extremely bad! Pancakes hard, the omelette had 3 leaves of spinach, not olives at all, potatoes very dry and burned!
Great food great waiters great cashiersJust GREAT
Waitor was very courteous and attentive
Making my way through the Potholder Cafes in SoCal. Been to P4 and P3. This one is Potholder Too and right across from City Hall. I think this is the actual Potholder referred to in Tyler Dilts detective novels. Came around brunch time on Sunday. Virtually no wait and beautiful patio setting. I knew how big the portions were so got the gluten-free waffle. They messed up both my order (did not come with the berries listed on the menu) and my friends (she got mayo when she requested to hold it). The server was very apologetic about the mixups, however, corrected them, and was otherwise a very attentive server. Parking was about $5.00 in the structure across the street although theres meter street parking too. Its very close to the Pike and Shoreline Village/Aquarium (about two big blocks away) so you can make a morning of it.
Great service! The owner and staff were amazing. The owner interacted with guests and even brought the food over to our table. Food 10/10.
U wont regret the 18in pancake!!
I, had delicious breakfast there, but it would have been - more better if they would have had some grits!
Breakfast was delicious! Wait staff super attentive and menu was a great mix of traditional and interesting/different items. The Loco Moco was ok, but the ABC Omelet and Popeye Scramble were super tasty. I appreciated that the Omelet was not thick so you could taste the delicious avocado bacon & cheddar cheese. They also will make grilled jalapeΓ±os for you if you ask....you should ask!
Good food. Good portions.
Foods good. Great service good prices. Gets the 5th star for the bottomless mimosa price and the size of the cups.
