Excellent coffee….my first time visiting here with a friend. Unfortunately they were out of lots of things on their menu. I really think that’s a positive thing too…very friendly atmosphere and staff is so sweet and welcoming…definitely will not be the last time I come here after my morning stroll…our coffees were great and the bagel was yummy. Inside is open they have tables outside too..following the COVID regulations and social distancing so if you’re in this side of Long Beach come try them out…

Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the espresso. It really is not good quality and/or they let the shots die before they make the whole drink. Which I only had shots over ice. Which really changes the flavor of the drink. It tastes like burnt coffee and kind of upset my stomach. The employee was very sweet though. I only had the espresso.

One of my favorites local coffee places in Long Beach. Everytime I come here the staff is so friendly and engaging. They also have an amazing tasting light roast that does change throughout the months. Everytime Im in the area, I always grab a cup. I highly recommend this coffee shop!

They have horrible customer service. Rude and distasteful place. Park Pantry is right across the street from here and has far better service & amazing coffee. Would highly not recommend.

I think this is my new favorite coffee hangout! There was a bit of a line, but it was clear why after a little bit. The place supports the LGBTQ* community, which is always important to me. And their skinny mocha Java Blast definitely didnt TASTE skinny at all! Friendly staff, cool vibe... will definitely be coming back with friends!

Refuge.... What is refuge when youre out and heavy rain begins without warning? Hot Java was my refuge. I walked in with my dog and hoped that we wouldnt be turned away. We werent. They greeted both me and my dog very warmly. They handed me a cup of cheer (coffee) and an almond danish possibly made with love! Both were great, but the owners were better! They were so kind and pleasant! I cant wait to dine in... Its a beautiful place and I know I will feel welcomed! Youve got to try it!

This place is in a great spot and the food is good, however the staff is kinda weird/rude I am in there seveal times a week and the staff never greets people, they dont really speak to you even when taking your order. I thought it was me till a freind of mine who was meeting me there arrived before me and had the same complaint.

Ordered their flaming mocha - nice hint of spice/heat which made it 5/5. I also got the breakfast “burrito” which tasted really good... but it was more like an oversized soft taco grilled on a panning press. I had expected something larger. Seems like their paninis are more popular.

Lovely neighborhood cafe with good selection of drinks. Their location and working hours are ideal apart from a nice setup inside.

Local coffee hangout... Ask for bagels early. We had lox n cream cheese over English muffin instead. They did the whole plate, tasty capers and bits of lemon too. Lattes were very flavorful, a full roast no burnt taste. Milk was not scalded so the beverage was creamy almost a nutty light caramel flavor. Cool winged backed chairs to recline in. Others had sofas. Or tables for those grinding away on laptops. Nice mellow jazz playing. Local art pieces on the walls. One all gender restroom with easy access key on the left corner of main service counter. Place is on a street corner but with the wide sidewalk, light street traffic outside seating was inviting and looked comfy. Kitty corner to a nice looking park.

Great space in a special part of LB. Drinks and food were delicious. Wonderful place to just hang out talking with friends on a lazy morning.

Snarky disrespectful barista and overpriced burn beans. Save your time and dignity, go to another coffeeshop. Theres 3 in a four block radius. Starbucks even better.

I generally like a couple of their drinks but its a mounting set of observations that make this place earn a lower rating today.1. At least the last 4x i have been there i havent ordered any pastry because there is always flies or nats crawling and landing all over the food. Pastries with bugs all over doesnt do for me.2. The outdoor seating is not cleaned very well and the areas where the seating is definitely isnt cleaned very well. Also the seating they have is a little janky, like the table shaking all the time. Basically just very cheap furniture.3. They have the most archaic credit card system. Literally every time you need to put your credit card in the employee has to sit and hold it so it doesnt move around. Not very sanitary when were all trying to not touch the same things during Covid. 4. Customer service should be re-evaluated. I literally walked in two minutes before they closed, while customers were still getting drinks, and I was told sorry were closed as I pointed out the time and showed the time to the female barista, she said, oh, we just shut everything down. The comedy of the whole situation was then she proceeded to give the other customers there two drinks. Just pure laziness from the employee.Its unfortunate, I live in the area I had started to go to this place more and more. There are other options but Ill keep trying them and give updates but some things could be reviewed and perhaps even made better. Im rooting for you Hot Java.This picture is of me leaving at 5:59 p.m. a minute before they close and two customers who just got their drinks walking out. Management andy ownership should review. Pure silliness.

A welcoming, friendly atmosphere at Hot Java. Friendly staff, excellent coffee. We had breakfast burrito and muffin, both delicious. This is how I like a coffee shop to feel. Highly recommended!

Worst Service Coustomer ever

Delicious Hot Chocolate, Chai Tea, and the stuffed chocolate Bear Claw was delicious I wish they warmed it up though!

Service was great and employees smiling. If you order they give out a wifi password. Very comfortable place.

I love our local coffee shop. They are always friendly and helpful. This coffee shop has a great vibe and delicious coffee. They have great breakfast burritos, lots of places to sit, a fireplace, local art hung on the walls that you can purchase, and they even hold events. Open late and on some holidays, too. Must go!

Got a coffee & croissant with my aunty here and checked in on yelp for the Lemon ricotta cookies and let me say that those cookies are amazing!I would come back to this spot JUST FOR THOSE COOKIES!The lemon icing on top was the perfect level of tartness and the moist soft cookie was perfection!

Always a great time at Hot Java! My fave is the white chocolate and this time I had it with oat milk and it was just as amazing!

Fantastic local coffee place with delicious bakery choices and wonderful gourmet options. The staff is very nice and charming. I have been coming there for about 10 years and I’m so happy because the location is wonderful for people watching and to hang out with friends and family. This place is definitely better than any Starbucks.

Its not a pour over single origin roasted to scientific perfection place. You do however only pay 50 cents for refills. They have a variety of coffee, tea, espresso, and other drinks, pastries, food, a cozy yet clean, organized, interior, featuring creative artwork and a variety of seating options. Small and large thankless with chairs as well as couch chairs. Most importantly, friendly, helpful staff.

Mocha was too sweet. It’s bearable.

The coffee is strong, and does not taste good. I will drink it if I really want that strong caffeine over taste though. I give 2 stars because the cashiers gross me out when they handle their fingers all over the rim of my mug, immediately after handling money. That is unsanitary.

Really cute little coffee shop that is actually surprisingly spacious inside. Great coffee and tea and the selection of baked goods looked pretty nice too. An especially nice place to come when the ocean breeze is chilly, in order to warm up and recharge.

They have super yummy coffee drinks! The ambiance is so relaxed and plentiful. Love the vibe here. I want to return for Improv night.

Im from Europe and it was the first place in Long Beach where I could find a strong flat white! The people there are really nice and the cookies really good. Perfect way to start the morning.

I was looking for a place with food and if I hadnt been there before I would have skipped this place and gone somewhere else where they had a menu. Super friendly staff, very helpful. Great atmosphere inside. Lovely little fireplace area with couches. Tasty pastries in the case with reasonable prices on my favorite items. You get the wifi password on your receipt. Handy. Will be back to this one!

Cozy feel with indoor or outdoor seating. Good, fresh, hot coffee. Options for food, too, and excellent location kitty-corner from the park that has Farmers market on Saturday mornings. The same people have been there for years. Good feel-at-home type local coffee shop.

Old hang out

Chased out like I was a criminal and childAs a Veteran, Gay man, and a Corporate lawyer for 2 non profits I am shocked that I was just chased out of Hot Java for not immediately ordering. I sat for a total of 8 minutes based on my last call before entering. Then was approached by a bitchy sassy attitude filled man that said I noticed you have not purchased anything They conversation went down hill quickly. I was accused of using resources and not paying for anything. Now, I grew up in Long Beach, started going to Hot Java when it first opened. Moved back to LB 3 months ago after many years away. Since then I have gone there and had coffee and snacks(as in 3 days last week or more). Tried to talk to another worker but was scolded and told to listen like I was a child. If youre not going to listen then goodbye WOW what happen to respect, kindness, and dignity towards patrons. I am at a loss about this treatment and harassment. For many years I touted this place as a great friendly local coffee house. Times change and now I will continue to spread the nastiness of what I endured.

Great place. Exterior and interior are up to date. Staff seems friendly. Nice place to chill, read a book or as I saw students doing homework. Overall awesome place.

Met a friend here for coffee and conversation. Had the caramel macchiato and a muffin. Macchiato was good, muffin tasted a bit too healthy for my taste. There were some kind of seeds in it.On the service end: nothing special, but fast. Cashier could have been more welcoming. Barista was fast and verified my order with me.Location: looked clean and well stocked. The layout was inviting and they had a cozy fireplace area.Parking can be a bit of a hassle depending on time you go. I parked down next street so not too bad.

Best place in town. Not only are the drinks delicious but you can create something new from all there flavors. They have tables out side which is great for people watching, and comfy couches when you need some study time. The staff is great and friendly best part they know my drink. Lol love this place

I visit this coffee house numerous times a week. I love this place more then the giant chains because their ingredients are of much better quality. When I order the other chains equivalent drinks it taste nothing like Hot Javas. My drink of choice is the caramel macchiato and its just really rich and creamy. Give this place a try if you want high quality coffee.

I live in the neighborhood around hot java and I love having it here. Its always clean and nice inside, the coffee is tasty, and they have a good selection of food and treats. Highly recommend anyone swinging by the beach to stop in and grab a coffee here.

Ive been going here now for a few years and can tell you theres not a more consistently good cup in town. The staff are all well trainedand friendly. I actually go twice a day usually. The evenings always promise a hot cocoa thats to die for. Kenny (the owner) and to his staff..well done. You keep it real and you keep it clean. And hats off to Mike who helps keep the outside seating area immaculate. Highly recommend this establishment for a real California coffeehouse experience.

Honestly they have good food not made in House but their customer service is awful and not worth a single penny. Go to Deja Brew, the spot next door. A great mom and pop store for cheaper. They are nice to their customers. Thats my plan. Bad job today Hot Java. You have lost two daily loyal customers.

Such a great atmosphere and great coffee. There was a singer, Kelly Fontaine, that was there when I went. She was awesome! What a beautiful soulful voice. And I love that the owners give a venue for local artists to develop themselves.

One of the best small coffee shops around, cozy and comfy. Usually great service, friendly locals and very inviting atmosphere. Its a great spot to catch up with old friends or to disappear by yourself for a while.

I go here all the time, my dog loves the attention. Usually the service is great, but lately theyve been hiring girls and, today its 93°outside and I just ran out of A/C in the car so I got inside shirtless like I always do. And this black woman at the counter tells me I have to put on a shirt! And actually the people in line complaint because I always go in the same way. I dunno if this is still a gay coffee shop but I felt quite uncomfortable after that.

My drink is always semi warm (cold by the time Im finishing) and never filled even when I say no whip. Its convenient to home so Ill keep coming once in a while.

Hot job is the neighborhood hang out thats you know mediocre-at-best. Theyre very judgmental of a lot of their customers. Theres nothing freshly prepared thereOliver food is brought to them so you never get anything truly fresh the food is okay but its still not fresh from the oven.the problem that I have is that a lot of the times they often accuse people of doing things around there that theyre not necessarily doing. They go by popular opinionand thats wrong if you dont have the proof you shouldnt be blaming things on people.

The first time in Hot Javas Lounge I felt a positive vibe. Open minded people by its atmosphere. No regrets.

Always a great hide away from the heat and work day stress. Come for the drinks but definitely try the home made treats. Definitely still going well during C-19. Enter through front door go out the side door. Plenty of good food and drinks. And outdoor seating with social distancing. They open early but are now closing at 6 PM.

Great place to chill out while having coffee, tea, or a smoothie. Awesome selection of pastries, fruit tray, and veggie tray. The baristas are wonderful. I love these guys!
