I dropped off my daughters quilt at Chloebugs on 2/4/20 to be embroidered with her name and birthdate. I made this quilt out of her onesies and baby clothes. Anyone who quilts knows that it takes hours of hard work and heart poured into each square. When I dropped the quilt off I was asked what I wanted it to say, what font and the color. I was also asked about the location. I told the guy I wanted it embroidered on the back close to the bottom where the machine would fit in it because I had not binded the quilt yet. He placed a piece of tape where I wanted it to be embroidered. I received a phone call on 2/10/20 from the lady who does the embroidery stating that the machine had caught while embroidering and put a hole through on of the squares and wanted to know if I had another square. As a mother, hearing this was heart breaking because it is my daughters baby clothes and I tried to picture why the machine would catch the top of the quilt when I wanted the back embroidered but I told her I would bring another square to the shop, thinking she was just going to fix it. She told me she was very sorry and she would not charge me since it was their mistake. I took an extra square to the shop the next day and when the quilt was pulled out I realized a top square was embroidered and realized it was being embroidered in the wrong spot. I told the guy it was not where I wanted it embroidered and he asked where I wanted it done. I told him we placed a piece of tape on it during the drop off and he told me it must have fallen off. We unfolded the quilt and the tape was still in the same place it was originally placed. He said he would let her know and call me when it was done. I asked if he needed the extra square I brought and he said no, she only wanted the square because she was going to try and embroider the square while it was off the quilt to see if it worked out better. So I took the square back with me and waited for their call. And I waited and waited. Finally I called to check on my quilt today, 2/20/20 and was told it was ready. No one called to let me know I could pick it up. So I went after work and picked it up. The embroidery was done where I wanted and was very beautiful. Then he told me it was “just $5.00”. So I paid the $5 and left. Everything about this experience has been a disaster. I will not recommend this business to anyone. I try to promote local businesses but I cannot promote this business after this experience. I gave Chloebugs multiple opportunities to make this right. After making the mistake, I brought the square. They did not accept the square to fix the quilt. Then they never notify me that it was ready for pick up. Then charge me when I was told it would be of no charge. Now I have to break the quilt down in order to fix the square that should not have been embroidered to begin with. I will take my things elsewhere from now on!
