Lake Sumter Transmission was very courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt. I always felt that they knew what they were talking about and that I was in good, capable hands. I had a transmission repair that came in just under their quoted figure, and they resealed the transmission as a bonus just because the replacement came with the parts for it. In addition they repaired my door lock when it stopped working for a reasonable amount, no fuss.

Mr. Ed was amazing with communicating back and forth from the mechanics to me about what was wrong with my vehicle. He was a very kind man. The other man at the front desk was VERY kind as well. I have an uncommon vehicle with a strange problem. After extensive diagnostic work, they figured out the problem wasnt the transmission. Told me everything they figured out and then didnt charge me. This is a first for me, an honest transmission shop. I even tried to give him something for the technician and they wouldnt accept.

Staff is extremely friendly and honest. Price is very reasonable. My car broke down on a weekend and I lived an hour away. I was only able to speak to them on the phone, but they were very patient with my constant calling. I was also able to pick it up after hours so I didn’t have to miss work. Hopefully I will never have to use them again, but they made the experience tolerable.

This place will rob you blind and play the victim for work they cant fix. Save yourself a big headache and your hard earned money, do not take your vehicle to these rip offs. If youre looking for a reliable and honest mechanic in Leesburg this is the place. I had my car in recently due to it not starting at all. Id recently replaced the ignition coils and the manifold gasket myself and it was running fine but then it would not start sometimes when it was hot. Eventually it stopped even trying to crank at all. The battery was fairly new and the voltage tested OK although I did not test it under load. I figured it was the starter but in my car you have to get underneath it and remove the catalytic converter to replace it, and I dont have the ability to do that myself. I had it towed into Lake Sumter Transmission and they later contacted me letting me know that they thought the battery was bad, and once they had a new one they would do further diagnosis. I said alright and they went ahead. Later on they contacted me again letting me know that the first diagnosis might have been premature as the battery was likely just low from trying to crank it multiple times. They already had the battery at this point, but it ended up just being the starter like I originally thought. They gave me the option of keeping it there overnight and testing it in the morning to make sure the battery was holding a charge. I agreed and the next morning it tested good. The point of the long story is this: A dishonest mechanic could have just left the new battery in and charged me for it as well as the starter replacement and not said anything. Lake Sumter Transmission did not do this. They were honest and thorough in their repair and I will definitely be doing business with them in the future. Look no further for a great mechanic in Leesburg.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!We took our 2006 PT Cruiser with intermittent shifting problems to Lake Sumter Transmission we were told we would need a rebuilt transmission at a total cost of $2,800-3,300 parts and labor. Since this was far more expensive than we were comfortable paying, and considering the problem was hit or miss we sought out a second opinion and went to TRANSMISSION PHYSICIAN in Eustis.Im SOOOOOO thankful we did. It turns out our vehicle didnt need a rebuilt transmission for perhaps $3,000+ but rather a new ECM (engine control module) that ended up costing only $800 parts and labor. The car now runs as good as new.I cant stress enough to seek out a second opinion, especially when some places seem quick to want to replace the entire transmission rather than fully diagnosing the problem and thusly not unnecessarily wasting thousands on rebuilds when its not necessary.Chad and the rest of the guys at TRANSMISSION PHYSICIAN are good, honest people and damn good mechanics with integrity so that to me is priceless.

I just moved here from Atlanta and my Rear Differential chain went on my 2002 Range Rover. I have had the same mechanic for 9 years so I was hesitant to take it anywhere else but Atlanta wasnt an option. I got the chain and when they pulled the Rear Dif. it needed more parts since I had 238,000 miles on the Rover. I got a used one from Atlanta and Lake-Sumter installed it no problem and now the Rover is purring again. The guys at Lake-Sumter were fair, honest, and reasonable which I appreciated.GG
