This was such a nice visit!! The pastries, croissants, and danishes here so SO fresh! The staff here is really sweet and the decor and aesthetic of the whole place, all the way down to the soap dispenser in the bathroom are beautiful. Super clean, aromatic, inviting environment. Delicious lattes as well! Will absolutely be coming back!

Best pastries I’ve had in my life. And I’m not a massive fan of pastries. I always dream of their raspberry danish and the staff are really nice!

Great bread, decent espresso. We loved their freshly baked bread and pastries. The outside sitting space is nice, and the espresso is quite decent (aside of a place in Indianapolis, probably our favorite on our trip from the Rockies to NY!).

I was in Lawrence for a day and stumbled upon this little bakery cafe. I got the vanilla latte which was lightly sweetened that complemented the coffee, had great flavor and was perfectly made.I also got their raspberry lemon curd croissant and was blown away by the taste and different texture.Their kale and caramelized onion quiche was also very delicious and perfectly flaky. I wanted to try more things on their menu but I was already stuffed. I want to try their chocolate croissant next.The staff were also very welcoming and helpful.

Reminded me of being in Paris. So quaint and beautiful inside with the smell of fresh breads. I loved the quiet bustle of patrons coming and going. My quiche was delightful and the croissant was the best croissant Ive had. Id highly recommend this gem to any local or visitor of Lawrence!

We had a really fantastic chocolate croissant and raspberry danish. The cappuccino was also solid (saf, you might say). They were not serving their sandwiches, but the next time we travel through Kansas we will make any detour necessary to come back and try them.Really friendly and helpful staff as well.If you need your espresso and baked goods fix in Kansas, this is the spot.

Ordered 4 baguettes for a dinner party. Smelled so good in the car, the party only got 3 of the four, as we ate one on the way home!! We loved the bread. Crisp crust, chewy inside, lots of beautiful holes, just like it is meant to be. AND friendly staff.

1900 has never disappointed. Coffee is superb.The food is baking perfection. The location is not car-friendly when it comes to parking, and thats a feature, not a bug. Cost is high for my economic strata, so its a special occasion experience.Levee Cafe and 1900 are my go to joints for daytime eats.

Dropped by for a quick pit stop. Its a charming location tucked away in a residential neighborhood. Ordered a latte with home made nut milk, Gibraltar, ham & cheese croissant, lemon croissant, and the Roman style vegetable pizza slice. The nut milk was great, I cant believe its home made. The Gibraltar was a pleasant surprise offering. Ham & cheese is very savory, almost a bit too much Maillard reaction. Lemon croissant was amazingly flakey and the filling is just as good. Ordered the vegetable pizza as they were out of the meat pizza. This turned out well, the chard on the pizza was fantastic. All of this was enjoyed on the pleasantly shaded outdoor patio area with our dogs. They enjoyed having a water bowl to stay hydrated. We will back soon with the pups in tow.

I purchased a lightly iced matcha, Im impressed with the fact that they have homemade in house nut milk. However, I only gave 4 stars bc it was not a very big sized drink and the cost was $6.83 without tip. Pretty expensive (imo) for the quality and quantity unfortunately.

Whenever were in Lawrence, we order baked goods to pick up. Most excellent breads, croissants, cookies and danishes! Order after 7 pm the night before youre going because they sell out of certain items if you want to order the day of.

Omg I got the breakfast sandwich and it was probably one of the most incredible breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. The flakey, perfectly crispy bread 😋🤤🤤 with a generous portion of egg and toppings… that sauce 🤤. Delish 👌🏽

A nice neighborhood coffeeshop - well worth visiting!

Loved this place before COVID. I’m vaccinated. Now they require masks… while outdoors… separated by a window… while ordering through a microphone. Not giving my money to someone who thinks these policies make us safer.

The bread was burned. Bought a loaf, that smelled burned. Not impressed. Had to throw it away.

The coffee was ok. My lower ratings is because of my customer experience. I ordered and sat at the bar. As I was sitting, the employee began to made a drink for someone else, grabbed some food for that person and put it on the counter. The employee then stared at me with an odd and cringy stare. Then the employee grabbed the food off the counter as if I was planning to steal it in front of everyone. I’ve never felt so unwelcomed in a restaurant. I will never go back and be treated like a criminal.

This place is incredible. Their bread is top notch, if I could eat a loaf a week and not gain weight I would! Authentic, rustic style and so truly delicious that words don’t do their baking justice. I wish I had have discovered 1900 Barker earlier so I could have been enjoying their treats for longer! Also, fantastic setup during COVID times. So easy to order online, entirely contact free pickup - safe for both staff and customers, thank you for keeping our community safe!

We definitely ordered more than necessary but just couldn’t help it with all of the choices! The chocolate almond croissant was absolutely amazing!

Ever been lucky enough to eat at Tartine Bakery in San Francisco? This is as close as you can get in the Midwest. For those who understand the reference, you’re in for a surprise and a treat here. For those that don’t, it should become clear after a trip to 1900 Barker that I’m talking about a group of folks who have truly honed their craft. The pastries here are truly something special. My favorite is the Morning Bun. Their specialty coffee concoctions are at least as good, if not better than any others in town. These folks were born to do what they do here!

Delicious coffee and freshly-baked goods. The quiche du jour was perfection - just the right amount of filling and a light, flaky crust. A latte with lavender honey was the perfect complement. Would definitely visit more often if I could afford it. At the register they have small dishes with samples of their specialty bread - the smoked cheese was really good!

Some of the best coffee in town, and delicious breads and pastries! Grab anything frangipane when they have it! 😋 Limited seating and parking but super worth it!

Get. The. Bfast. Sammie! The only problem with eating ANYTHING from the bakery is that you will have to measure every other baked good against it. The cold brew is top-notch and flavorful with bright notes of berry. Clearly VERY good coffee used in this coldbrew.One of my personal favorite baked items EVER is pain au chocolat. 1900s is the best Ive ever had and Ive lived and traveled a decent amount!Order online. Pickup whenever! Listen to their advice and order around 5:30pm for the next day!

The food is decent but the service, attitude of staff, and general management is awful and negates any awesomeness of their food. Beyond awful. It is hard to believe that that this business doesnt care at all about their customers. I have been here on numerous occasions and called them out on their bias to different customers (myself receiving the negative side of it), I have even called, emailed and attempted to talk to owners, but they dont care. How Lawrence has changed... sigh.

One of the best bakeries Ive ever been to in the U.S. The breads are consistently fantastic (although they shouldnt have done away with the smoked cheese bread) and the croissants are world class! Watch out for the iced coffee, though -- it is seriously high octane. Worth visiting Lawrence for this alone.

I admire this venue a lot. there is a great air. The cuisine is good. the service is dynamic and the stuff is courteous. The price is honest. truly recommend.

Incredible bakery! Their morning bun + breakfast sandwichs are a must-try. Matcha latte is super yummy too (not my *fav* in town but still super good)! They easily adapted to the strains of COVID-19 and it shows in their success!! Be sure to order online the day before (after 5pm) so you have access to all of their creations - youll only regret not ordering more than 1!

I visited 1900 Barker Bakery and Cafe this past Friday - for the first time - and purchased their smoked cheese bread. My goodness! This is the best cheese bread Ive ever tasted in my life, and Im not exaggerating. It is well worth the price! I highly recommend, and cant wait to try their other breads.I wish the parking lot was bigger, though!

Terrible experience all three times I patronized this establishment. I had heard nothing but good reviews so I kept trying to go back. I think it’s almost an image thing to frequent and praise certain places in Lawrence, Kansas regardless if they are selling you a quality product or not. This place is very expensive and their food is middle of the road. It’s not worth what yuh pay for it. And the attitudes of every employee I have come into contact with here were rotten. I just cannot support an establishment with rude employees that has mediocre food. So if you are not concerned with some ridiculous image, spend your money somewhere else where they take pride in customer service and create delicious pastries.

Legendary baked goods. It seems as if this company may have found some spiritual enlightenment as to what the perfect ham and cheese croissant was. There is no other explanation for the soul fulfilling explosion of flavor that comes from their baked goods. Thank you for making my day worth living.

This is an amazing coffee shop, I gave it a 4 because I order my coffee online in plenty of advance, although when I get there I still have to wait 10-20 mins before actually picking up my coffee. Like most places it is pretty busy but even on slower days this is still a struggle. Other than that, I would recommend 1900 to all coffee and pastry lovers.

Staff were very friendly and helpful making recommendations. A lot of space to sit and hang out or work on the computer. I tried a couple different croissants and both were delicious! Would definitely recommend!

For starters I placed an order online. My order said it would be done at 8:36 I decided to take a several block walk to 1900 Parker and arrived around 9 o’clock. When I got there a man in front of me had a question about what temperature to brew his coffee at which they didn’t ended up giving him a direct answer, instead pointed him in the direction of oddly correct to get a more efficient answer. I then waited to be helped next and a Family that just arrived was helped immediately first. I waited several more minutes until a different employee arrived from the back asking if she could help the next person. I told her I placed an online order and I was told that I would need to wait several more minutes. I did and by the time I got my sandwich the bottom of my croissant is completely burnt and the bacon is hard and chewy so pretty much the only two things I can taste are egg and burnt croissant. Oh I also asked for no cheese because of an anabiotic that I was put on and what do you know it came with cheese. I’m very disappointed with the level of service and quality of food.

Get the croissant! Or the laminated pastries! Or any of the beads! The coffees are incredible, too- give a gift certificate or bring visiting friends or family for a special treat! Love this place.

Can’t go wrong coming here

I am not really sure how this place has such a high rating. With a staff of snobby hipsters and and the worst cinnamon roll sold in the entire midwestern region it is surprising it has been open as long as it has. Judging by all the Subaru Outbacks in the tiny parking lot I should of known what to expect. An almost $5 cinnamon roll that was burnt is not what I expected. Take your money somewhere else if you expect respectful service and decent food.

Best little bakery ever! You have to get the raspberry lemon cream cheese danish. Tastes like the best jam toast I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place!

Excellent matcha latte with homemade nut milk. I enjoyed being able to sample the breads before purchasing - all of them were perfectly baked and moist. The lemon filled croissant was perfectly buttery and flaky and well worth the price. However, I was slightly disappointed with the scant (less than 1 tbsp) amount of lemon curd filling, but still enjoyed the flavor. I will be back tomorrow to pick up some fresh baked goods to take to family in Denver :)

Amazing baked goods, coffee and sandwiches. Place was packed on a Saturday morning,had to street park. We have had 1900 Barker bread served in local restaurants,this is why we needed to visit . Why did we wait so long??

This little gem is only a 3 minute walk from my house! They have the best croissants and danishes in town! If you havent tried yet, you must. They also sell pizza during select days of the week (I cant remember what days, I believe Tues & Thurs??) which are flavorful combinations I never would have thought of. One of my favorite bakeries!

One of the most unique coffee shop/bakery locations in the area. Great for breakfast pastries, bread, and on some days pizza!

I love fresh baked bread made simply but elegantly. I stopped in at the recommendation of a good chef we know. He was impressed at the good things that were happening there. I have only tried a few of their breads but I was certainly not disappointed. All have been excellent. I will return.

Their bread blew me away! It doesnt need anything, its absolutely perfect. Our favorite is the Sunday special, Toasted Sesame & Sea Salt. Small place, but they do have a few seating options.

What a great spot! I got the ham and cheese pastry and I was not expecting such a flakey and soft piece of pastry. The staff are very friendly and very welcoming. One of the owners made sure I was good throughout my stay there. Highly recommend stopping by to grab their delicious bread.

They seriously have the best croissant in all of Kansas, the Midwest, and quite possibly the whole US. I had no idea how amazing croissants could be. The croissants melt in your mouth with a flaky outer layer and different flavors. The lemon creme is my favorite so far, but theyre all good. They also have interesting and original beverages. Their latte art makes me smile. I miss driving by 1900 on my way to work, it made mornings better.

This place serves some of the most beautiful food and coffee I have ever seen and I really recommend it for anyone that has not tried it or been to a place like it. It was built buy real artisans and it is amazing to watch them work and see how much they can do with such a small kitchen. It really goes to show that the heart of the business is the people and not the equipment or space.

Great place! Super excellent breads, sweets and coffee. I usually dont go for coffee but Reagan made an iced coffee-latte-something the first time I went in and it was enjoyable! :) Amazing quality & experience all-around. I cannot think of a cooler place to stop at if youre passing through Lawrence!

Coffee excellent but the homemade breakfast sausage pastry was, simply put, unbelievable. Yeah. Makes me wonder how good the rest of their menu must be.

If your looking for a great shot of espresso and some freshly baked artisan bread and pastries, this is the place to go! I was visiting a friend who lives nearby and he told me to check this place out and it was well worth the trip. I hope to visit again the next time Im in town.

Best coffee and pastries on the trip, friendly staff, nice environment. If I come back to Lawrence, this will be my regular morning coffee stop. Only issue I had was the lack of parking. Its a residential neighborhood and there are a lot of no parking signs - which, I noticed, patrons happily ignored.

Top notch bakery. Im from France and it would be up to par with what I can find back home. Utility loaf and the chocolate or plain croissants are my go to. The husband love their ham and cheese croissant and when they have fougasses.

What a treasure! After seeing this place for years, I finally tried it and Im kicking myself for not going sooner. The croissants are flaky and buttery, the cinnamon rolls tender, and the cheese bread so good that the man in front of us in line spontaneously recommended it. He was right! If youre daring, try the honey, lavender latte. Delicious! Ive officially declared 1900 Barker our new Saturday morning tradition.
