I had an overnight stay in Lawrence. One tire on my truck was slashed overnight. AAA took it to Westside 66. After they heard I was in route to Texas they said they could have the tire in an hour but a tire store down the road might have it in stock. Then, THEY called the other place to confirm they had the tire. Told me they did and sent us on there to get is done more quickly. You dont get service like this anymore. Great experience, great attitude and SERVICE BEYOND ANY EXPECTATION!!!!

You can really trust this place. That’s the hardest part about servicing your car, finding a place you can trust to do good work and not rip you off. I found that over a decade ago here with Rich and his crew! Since then everyone in my family has switched to Westside as well. The only problem is that word has spread so much about how great they are, sometimes you have to wait a couple weeks to get your car in. That’s the only problem I’ve ever had here. Love this place! Thank you Rich! Especially for a woman taking your car in places try to rip you off but not Rich!

I only spoke to a mechanic on the phone but the desk person and mechanic were incredibly friendly and helpful --- after calling many places around town I really appreciated the patience and advice these kind people offered.

They pierced my radiator while changing a stubborn headlight. They did not tell me, they just let me drive away and destroy my motor.

So easy and quick. Needed my tire fixed. No appointment necessary. Drove in and paid while it was fixed. Took less than 10 minutes from start to finish. I’ll be back for more repairs in the future as they were great. Also I was able to stay in my vehicle while the tire was fixed.

I started taking my car here after a warranty fix at a dealership listed numerous issues with my hyundai. I love this place! I know.. its just a gas station...no.. Its a filling station. Its old school in all the right ways. Somebody will come out and pump your gas and check your oil if you want...(remember the rubber hoses you drive over that ring a bell inside?) Or you can self serve yourself like most of us. Uniquely, and my favorite thing is that two of their pumps have nozzles with zero ethanol gas that I use for my (my and my wifes that is) vintage BMW motorcycle...and like back in the day they do mechanical service and repair as well.. And?! They have free air! I pulled up to use the air earlier this week (not having gotten gas or anything I felt sheepish) and the guy who came out to fill some ladys tank asked if I needed an air pressure gauge! Makes you want to go down there and git yerself a bottle of pop like Barney mused about on Andys porch.

This shop was less expensive than the other I had quoted. However they could not get to my car for a few days. It wouldve ended up taking twice as long all together. I will keep this place in mind but they are usually booked up at least a week out. Sometimes getting your car back in a faction of the time beats out saving a little money. They were super friendly and helpful!!

Great mom and pop station

My husband has a problem with the oil gasket and the mechanic said the timing had to be taken out and the labor would be around $1000.00 and my husband decided not to go with that option.

I’ve been here twice in the last 6 months (2 different cars with different issues) they were honest and helpful and had great friendly service.

Was able to get a tire worked on after dark later than most shop hours. And owner jumped right on it almost at closing time. Dont get that at Walmart. And free air. A person should always support a place that offers free air. Thanks.

I have been going there for over 5 years and have finally decided to not come back. The car service itself is not the problem, I will not be coming back because of how rude the girl at the front desk is. It takes a lot for me to not go back to a place and I know how hard it must be for Rich to find work.GOOD CAR SERVICE BUT TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Great mechanic! Quick service if youve got an appointment. My oil change was done in less than an hour. It seems like they take longer if you just come in without an appointment, but theyve got a lot of business so it makes sense. I had my car towed here when it died on the freeway and they were happy to accommodate us and had it diagnosed within 24 hours. Their prices have always been very fair and reasonable.

We were heading west from North Carolina to Wyoming in our VW Eurovan, when something hit our engine from the road, the car started shaking and making a very loud horrible noise. We became stranded at the offramp from I-70. We called Westside 66 (it was after 5:00), and Rich was at our location in less than 30 minutes, diagnosed the problem in a few minutes, and disengaged the damaged fan. We were back on the road quickly. Well need to replace the fan eventually, but were able to travel. Another guy pulled off behind us with a flat tire - he likely hit the same road object that hit us - and Rich fixed that as well, while he was there. He charged NOTHING for his trouble, although we persuaded him to take some for his trouble. I cant begin to say how much he helped after hours, for people who he knows that hes likely to not see again. What a great guy! I would give him 100 stars if I could. Thanks for saving us! I give him the highest recommendation possible.

Great repair service. Theyve saved me several times.And they have full service gas pump (the last place in Lawrence.) I do the full service pump a lot in the winter so I dont have to freeze. If you ask, theyll check all fluids, air the tires, and even wash the windows.

A great locally owned Full Service Gas and Auto Repair shop in Lawrence, KS. Just like a top doctor, book preventative auto service ahead of time because they get really busy, but honest reliable service with a local owner who will stand behind their work is worth the wait. They also offer tire service and flat repair. 100% gas pumps (gas without ethanol added) and the only full service pumps (if thats your style) I know of in Kansas. Dont miss out on their FREE AIR for tires during normal business hours and friendly staff always ready to assist and provide advise if you have problems.

Im really thankful for the work Richard did on my car. Every shop in town was a week out for appointments, but he got me in right away on an emergency case for a dangerous fuel leak. They fixed it quickly and for the reasonable price they had quoted me. I highly recommend Westside.

Good prices on gas. They offer both standard ethanol-blend (like everyone else) but also have 100% real gas for those who wish to have the better gas mileage and dont mind paying a little more for the improvement. (The added mileage per gallon easily pays for itself by the less frequent fill-ups required. The cost is about 15 percent more but the mileage increase Ive seen in my new, low-mileage V6 car is more than 20 percent.)

When my wife and I first moved here we had lots of car problems. Tried a few local mechanics and they seemed very inept at fast and prompt service or even good communication. West 66 however, is outstanding! Great and knowledgeable staff as well as fast and friendly service. I highly recommend them for your auto repairs.

Took them over a month to fix the AC in the car AND they couldn’t even correctly diagnose the other problem, but never called to say that. Repeatedly hung up on the phone and overall rude attitudes. Save time and money and go somewhere else.

My experience with Richard was brief, but enough to know that this mans heart is in the right place. Last Saturday, I was attending my granddaughters first communion service. I discovered I had slow leak in one of my tires. My son called Richard; he uses him for all his car services. What a breath of fresh air: bring it in, Ill look into it immediately.Long story made short: he pulled the wheel, found a screw, plugged the tire and re-mounted the wheel -- all in 5 minutes, and NO CHARGE! He smiled, and said, enjoy the time with you family! How great is that!

Ive had my car worked on a few times here and am finally getting around to writing a review. I had an oil leak I couldnt find and Richard and his team found and fixed the issue (bad Oil switch) in just a few hours. The cost of parts and labor was extremely reasonable. I had to wait a few weeks for my appointment but that just goes to show what a great reputation this place has. Ive never been pressured to get extra repairs done and they havent tried to up-sell me anything, which i appreciate. If you want honesty, knowledgeable mechanics, and reasonable repair costs, this is the place to go.

Richard and his staff are excellent. This is the only place I take my cars to get worked on, and one of only a few auto repair places I really trust in Lawrence. Its a small gas station, the lot is crowded with cars l - but that just confirms how many people trust and rely on Westside 66.

Did excellent expedient service on my friends vehicle brakes at a reasonable price with reasonable labor.They will not use parts brought in though. They make you use their parts that they acquire and up charge for.

This place is by far the best car repair in town. The owner stands behind his work and has redone a fan motor for me twice at no charge as it failed after he installed it. Highly recommended.

I like this place. Right off 6th Street so its usually an easy in-and-out (unless they happen to be really busy). The ethanol free gas is the reason I come here. I have a turbocharged Volvo which requires high octane fuel and I also have a Hummer H2 which, well, consumes a lot of gas! To me Id rather spend the extra few dollars every fill up though in order for my cars to run their best and most efficiently. Thank you guys for offering this product! Also they have basic necessities for sale here like washer fluid, quarts of oil, etc. Will keep coming back.

Took a while for the car to act up for the mechanics but once it did they took great care of me. They even picked up the car when it broke down and dropped me off at home. I know they had a lot of time into diagnosing the issue. When issues were found I was thankful for the bill was reasonable.

Absolutely fantastic mechanics. I was told I needed 650.00 worth work done from meinke after a routine oil change. Took it to Richard and absolutely nothing was wrong. Staff is phenomenal. Cant say enough good things about them.

The staff know who I am when I come in and always provide great service even if Im coming in just to put some air in my tires. I make it a goal to come there for any of my car needs.

Ok. Rich the owner is aces. Id match him against any machanic in the state, even the region hes that good. Seriously. My problem is the help. He has some workers there who could use more experience. Sharpen their expertise and I give em 10+. Rich cant do it all. Well actually he can but his guys need to follow his lead.

I wish there were more stars for this review. I live in Oklahoma, but I wish this shop was located near me. We were visiting Lawrence and my car broke down. Not only where they friendly, efficient and low cost, but they didn’t try to sell me things I didn’t need. I highly recommend this shop!

Richard delivers fantastic customer service. He is very honest, albeit a little slow, presumable because of his high workload. Small and only full-service fueling station in Lawrence. After replacing some fuses and finally discovering the problem was a bad computer, they did not charge for the inexpensive parts, nor for the time, full well knowing I was going to scrap my vehicle. I will continue bringing my cars to Westside 66 for any repair I need. Fully recommend these guys.

Just love this place. My tire went flat around 7th and Michigan. Called them, they came to me, aired up my flat spare (oops..), changed the tire, took my original back to the shop and patched it, then put it back on for me. Everyone was extremely nice. All of this only took about 45 minutes and I was happily shocked when the lady behind the counter told me the price. It was literally a fraction of what I expected. i highly recommend them!

Ive been doing personal business with Richard for almost 30 years. In all that time Ive personally never heard a bad word about Westsides service from anyone. Im sure theres been situations that could have been bad at another place, but this tells me that I can trust them.Now, as a towing operator, Westside is always my first recommendation for a stranded traveler. I towed a vehicle to them with a broken serpentine belt on a Sunday afternoon. We didnt even bother to unload it. Belt was replaced on the spot and the vehicle was back with the owner in 45 minutes. Awesome!

I have been going to Westside for years and so has my mother and father. We take our company fleet there as well. Richard and the crew have always been courteous and professional! More than anything they have always tried to save me money! Once a repair shop gave me an estimate to replace both struts and mounts, etc. and was going to be around $900. Richard checked it out and the car just needed one mount. I think it was under $50. In my opinion Westsides tag line should be ...Saving lives one vehicle at a time! Would be a 5 star if the girl on the phone wasnt laughing at me as I have a slight stutter when I talk. Otherwise, the service that you guys do here for working on cars are amazing.

I dropped my car off and called every morning asking for updates and I was told it was to be looked at later that day- 4 days in a row. Nothing was diagnosed or really done as far as I can tell, thanks for leaving me without a car for no reason. Would not recommend

Owner operated, fair and honest mechanic. Will always take time to visit. Very knowledgeable and doesnt try to do more or mislead you into buying repairs you dont need.

Its quite run-down and it can be difficult to maneuver between the car wash, parked cars and pumps. Its not easy to get into or out of on either street, either. But the bathroom was clean!

Small place doesnt take credit at the pump. grumpy employees mom and pops old gas station not in good condition. Feels like a bad side of town place.

Doesnt even deserve 1 star. This place sucks and is a ripoff. They tightened my lugnut so tight even they couldnt get it off then wanted to charge me 80 to fix their screw up. They said they patched my back tire but 2 days later its flat again. Dont go here theyll break something on your car just so they can charge you more to fix it. The help is incredibly rude and refuse to tell the truth about what they did. Wouldnt recommend to my worst enemy. I used to hear good things dont know what happened maybe the owners never there ir just doesnt care anymore.

I called Westside66 with a crazy story, from another city, that had to do with a family members vehichle on the KU campus. Richard was the most helpful mechanic i have ever dealt with. He drove over to the campus to check out the problem, took all my phone calls, was patient with me while i mailed the keys,ect and fixed the problem at a very reasonable price and on schedule. They even filled up the gas tank up. So happy with the way my car trouble was resolved. Thank you.
