Honest. Ethical. Professional. One of our children was a student at Purdue and their Subaru started to have a problem that made the car un-driveable. We were 4 hours away and not knowing anyone in Lafayette, we called the Subaru dealership in W. Lafayette to have the car diagnosed. Their estimate was outrageous and coincidentally the cost of the repairs was about the value of the car, so the dealership was willing to do the repairs and take the car off our hands. By pure chance we were told about Automotive Imports. They were able to figure out the real problem - it was NOT what the dealership had diagnosed (a blown head gasket). Automotive Imports fixed the car (replaced a fuse and a fan) and it has been running great ever since. We will continue to give Automotive Imports our business. Its hard to find a car repair business your can trust. Automotive Imports is one of those places.

I was recommended to this place from a stranger, when asked where they had their oil changed for a Volvo.I called, and they were able to help me out with my check engine light and answer all my questions. I was respected as a woman, and not treated like I was dumb. I was really impressed with the courtesy and him taking the time to help me out in my time of need. Thank you. I will be returning when I need an oil change or any other problems pop up with my Volvo.

Fred has been very helpful. I refuse to go to Honda again because they treated me like a dumb woman. l am not. I can think critically, but in order to do so, I need to ask questions. They refused to answer them. ...In comes Fred. He knew the problem right away...much more than Honda did... and educated me on why the failure occurred and what needed to be done. His fix was right the first time and a reasonable price. He is no nonsense. He can come across as too confident and even a little rude. BUT... he knows his stuff. Highly recommend.

I am a social worker who drives about 30,000 miles a year. After my divorce, I had to downgrade from a newer car. I now have a 2005 Nissan Altima that has 116,500 miles on it. Things are now needing replaced more often and I am so thankful that a friend referred me to Fred. As a female, I think I have been taken advantage of many times by dealerships and other garages but Fred is by far the most honest mechanic I have ever had. He only fixes what needs fixing and he explains everything he’s doing in a way that someone like me, who has no knowledge of how a car works, can understand and he does so without making me feel ignorant. His pricing is very reasonable too. I feel confident that he can keep my car in good shape and running so I can pay it off and finally not have a car payment. If you are looking for the best mechanic in Lafayette, in my opinion, Fred is it. Judging by his reviews, I think a lot of other people think so too.

He cares about his customers and takes extreme pride in his work and reputation. Called Fred to talk about issue with vehicle, not only does he refer me somewhere else but he also makes false assumptions about lights that are on in my dash. After kindly correcting him about what lights were on in my car (which he had not yet even looked at,) he tells me not to argue with him. I will never go here again because I personally will not do business with someone who does not understand the concept of putting customers first.

Fred is the Mechanic who can give advice to save money. Also the one who is not trying to sell any unnecessary repairs. Highly Recommend.
