The best little True Value Hardware in this part of LA County, the end of LA county and Orange County starts. Had a couple keys made by a couple of young guys. Didnt look like they knew what they were doing but oh, lo and behold they did. The keys were great

The service here is second to none.James Co is the best of the best to find anything and everything building or maintenance related, especially the hard to find older parts and materials.Just between David, Steve, and Greg, there’s got to be over 250 years of experience, and that’s pretty serious.Makes me just want to eat some hot and fresh golubtsy and shashlik and think about the great service this place provides.These dudes are good.

Wow these guys know their stuff! For questions? Lowes and Home Depot dont have the time for you. These guys have all the answers and all the time you need to process. Especially the door specialists in the adjacent warehouse. I feel like subtracting a star for their mom-and-pop hours in a 21st century city of 60K people, but it works for them. And Im just spoiled.

I was in the area and really needed a gas line to hook up my new dryer that will be coming in tomorrow. I had called prior to driving over there since a lot of other places are out of them. When they answered the phone they were so pleasant to speak to. When arriving I saw a gentleman stocking a couple aisles and approached him to ask if they had what I was looking for and where in the store it was located. The worker Dennis stopped what he was doing in that moment and took me to the exact aisle and section where the item that I needed was. I just wanted to take the time to write about the experience because he was such a friendly, patient, helpful, professional worker. He was very informative about the products as well. Even though David was with a another customer, he still acknowledged me and made sure I didnt feel ignored. David took the time to really answer my questions without talking down to me or rushing. This resulted in a sale for them that was over $500. Thanks for the great service!

I like this place.Great selection of anything hardware related that I can think of. Possibly may be the best hardware store in the Sunset District. It is right on par with the other great one in West Portal. Friendly staff generally.

Needed a hard to find special part for a water heater and both Home Depot and Lowe’s didn’t have it. Nice clean store and nice people helping out.

I came to James True Value Hardware angry, frustrated, tired and upset because Lowes did not carry the parts I needed to connect stove they sold me.Arriving at James True Value Hardware and in my frustration, I was kindly schooled on how to make the connections I needed with a back up plan just in case. All for a few dollars. In which, I appreciate very much.Brings to light the forgotten adage; A smart customer is a good customer.

This is an awesome hardware store, they have everything you need from nuts and bolts,sand paper power tools, quality door hardware, windows, doors, moldings. The employees are friendly and will to help from cutting a key to helping you purchase doors and windows for your remodel project.

The only other place in the area, like Lowes, that has those drawer racks of one-at-a-time hard to find fasteners in the tradition of Ace down the street. When it comes to those real hardware store amenities, forget Home Depot for that oval head brass 13mm screw.

Home owners beware! The Paramount, wood-framed windows that I spent nearly $6,000 on did NOT pass inspection in Whittier because James Hardware sold me windows that could not meet the citys code for energy specifications. And James Hardware took NO responsibility for this...at all. They simply told me to appeal to the head of the city inspectors and hope for the best.What it comes down to is this: you better know every detail of every code in your city because these guys will NOT make sure that what they order meets those guidelines. And if the product fails inspection, they will blame you for not having told them, blame the inspectors or the state code. As a home owner, trying to do the best I can on a limited budget and with limited knowledge, I had to learn the hard way that you cant expect James Hardware to double check that you are getting what you need before you pay your money.Now I am in the position of either replacing the windows (and paying for the installation of those windows) or finishing a job that will not be certified as having passed inspection by the city, which could affect both my insurance rates and any potential for resale in the future.
