Cozy, classy, and welcoming are the best words I can think of to describe this local treasure. Its honestly one of the best things about Kinston.I was introduced to this place by someone I know, and I always got their Mocha Frappuccino in milk. One of the best frappuccinos I have ever had. ❤I think this place is a great competitor for Starbucks. One can dare say that its even BETTER than Starbucks, which puts a smile on my face when I think about it.Please continue making your wonderful coffee. 😊

Awesome coffee, great atmosphere, spacious and comfortable seating. Everything those corporate coffee places are not. Easily the BEST place to come for a good time with friends and family. Oh, and good music too!

THE coffee place to go to for your java, tea, smoothies and pastries. Am an absolute coffee fanatic, as is most in my family, always in search of a good coffee place with a great atmosphere and product and did not have to go far to find Middle Ground Coffeehouse.. checking all the boxes and locally owned and operated. Their location is right in downtown Kinston, NC and the place is huge inside with a variety of seating areas from sofas, armchairs, bar stool (area) and plenty of flat surafe area to play games, do paperwork/computer, enjoy your drink and pastry. The staff is wonderful, friendly, helpful, personable and attentive and keep the area clean and organized. Our drinks were made quick and order taken quick as well. I had their chai latte, my favorite hot drink, and Middle Grounds by far has the best one ive had in any of the coffee places ive visited.. worth a try.. hot or iced. Highly recommend!!

Wow. I did not know a coffee place this great existed in Kinston. A beautiful old building, friendly people, relaxing atmosphere, quick service. Oh.. ya. And it has coffee. Good coffee. VERY Good coffee. Maaaybe my new favorite coffee shop?

Nice coffee shop. The bean has a lovely roast and aroma. But, if youre going charge me Starbucks coffee prices, I expect the staff to know coffee terminology and how to make it. (Not to mention. Starbucks puts a large portion of their profits back into the local communities that they work with. Fair Trade practices, and the like... Are you all doing something like that? If so, why not yell it from the rooftops? I didnt see anything that made me feel good about giving you my business. Other than the people.) The women I met today were very friendly and seemed to know what I asked for. But, what I received was not what I ordered. I received coffee flavored milk, fit for a child. Not a strong coffee made for a coffee lover.

Great little coffee shop! Tons of seating inside with wifi and a great atmosphere just to hang out. Tons of drink options, the two my wife and I had were great! The young lady working the counter was also pleasant, helpful, and energetic. We will definitely come back when in Kinston again!

I am here visiting my best friend and she brought me here. We have gone everyday so far during my visit and it does not disappoint. When you walk in it is so comfy and welcoming. The owners are so sweet! Once I told her I am a Boston girl and like my coffee strong, she knew exactly what to do. I will for sure visit here again and again whenever I come down to Kinston!!! I got the Iced Hug in a Cup, she made it with 4 shots espresso, a little coldbrew and just a tiny splash of cream... PERFECTION! If you want to try it, ask for it to be made The Boston Girl way haha

I went to Middle Grounds for the first time last week. I had the darkside frappe. It was amazing!! The barista was so very nice and helpful. She did not rush me and explained options. I liked the atmosphere. I was well pleased and will return soon! ❤

I love MG, I go here everyday for coffee and a bagel. The girls are super friendly and fast! They remember your familiar face and greet you with a great attitude! My fav is the Nut street frappe or Hug in a cup frappe 😍 and of course it being local is the icing on the top

Great vintage coffee spot in downtown Kinston. The space was welcoming and the barista was super sweet and accommodating. If I lived in Kinston Id definitely be a daily customer. Definitely recommend you stopping in.

Edited Review: It took me a while to go back with everything that has been going on with the stay at home order, but I wanted to do another review. I went today and ordered the Woe and it was terrific. I also, came in with a coffee drinker that had never been to this coffeehouse and he said he would definitely be back as well. The barista that was working today was knowledgeable and answered questions. She made suggestions on how I could tailor my drink closer to my liking on my next visit. Even though we were her last customers of the day, she didnt rush us out. Kudos on making my experience top notch and I will continue to recommend Middle Grounds.

Every time I’m in there whoever is working is so nice and always tries to help me out because I always get my sugar free with almond milk they have so many different sugar-free options compared to Starbucks if I had to choose Starbucks and this place I would highly recommend going to this place

Excellent coffee house. Excel at both regular and specialty drinks. Coffee and tea and homemade pastries. In the Old Town part of Kinston. Close to restaurant s, parks, nature center, etc. A jewel. But be prepared for small staff that focuses on your order.

Middle Ground is a great name for a coffee shop. However, there is nothing middling about their coffee, it was pretty exceptional. There is a board that lists about 18 specialty drinks that you can have hot, iced, or blended like a frappe in either 12 or 16 ounces. Of course you can also have a plain coffee, espresso, latte, etc., or pick a flavor choice of your own. They also have pastries, granola bars, etc. The barista was super friendly, nice, and made a good drink. Its a non fussy place with a great soundtrack. #staygrounded

Me and my dad came here a couple days ago and the barista was all there by herself but was super nice and quick I got a hot Blondie and it was amazing definitely recommend that and will be coming again

I found this place back in September of last year. I had tried other coffee houses in the past, but never felt the need to return. Middle Grounds was different. I knew the moment I walked in that there was something special about that place.The owner is brilliant. Full of amazing ideas and passion. Through her I have met some truly wonderful and caring people.I just went for coffee, but left with a life long friend.

Loved this place ! Sydney was there and her smile warmed our hearts! Her coffee skills, exceptional. I enjoyed my Old English and my fiancee loved her 1986 drink! 5 starts all day.One thing I noticed and I believe the owner needs to take action on it - we didnt carry any cash on us and I was expecting your Square POS will prompt me to leave a tip as I am used from other establishments. To my sadness it didnt. Please dear owner make sure to activate it so your customers dont feel bad for not tipping.

Easily my favorite coffee shop!! I started working in Kinston about two years ago and was so upset to not be able to find any coffee shops! When Middle Grounds opened up, I walked in and fell in love. The atmosphere was very home-y and welcoming. The music is very soothing, and they have free wifi which doesnt matter because its definitely the kind of place where you just put your phone down and have real conversation with everyone around you because the people there are so darn kind. The owner has made me surprise drinks just because I never have any idea what I want and she always hits the nail on the head, I havent had a drink I didnt love. I highly recommend this coffee shop whether you are local or just traveling through!!

I live about thirty minutes from Kinston and pass by at least two Starbucks locations when I drive to middle grounds coffee. Absolutely delicious coffee, sugar free options that still taste delicious, yummy snacks, great atmosphere and music, friendly and funny owner and employees, free wifi, good downtown location- just an all around great coffee shop vibe. my only complaint is how far away from me it is!
