Sorry I went in just to check it out, however did not feel very comfortable, a bigger space is needed, not enough space to walk around nor for the products!!!
Frequently, my child and I visited the Central Square Supermarket- the Store Manager is very professional and friendly to customers. The store is well stocked and cleaned. In addition All Deli personnel are quick and prompt to take your sandwich order- WHAT A GREAT PLACE TO SHOP- Thank You😀.Valued Customer- Aliesha
Lots of merchandise from different countries and reasonably prices.
Hi, I’m a resident of this area for last 25 years. I do shop here almost every other day.I have no problem with he products sold here are fresh.Staff changes quite fast, new girls at the counter every off and on.Manager Hamdi looks active, doing odd jobs, but not respectful, seems he lacks patience, hard to talk, not a able to answer with right reasoning.According to him Mask mandate is no more effective, it’s people’s choice as ofAugust 16, 2021.If we try to discuss it with him, he puts a choice shop here or not, or he calls security. He lacks guts to handle a reasonable question. He acts more like a Clown, jumping around instead of walking and talking respectfully, especially with women.I’m sure you’ll look into the matter.I’m in contact with the senator to make sure themask mandate as of now.
Should be expected considering it’s a C-Town but inspect the items you buy here carefully. I just bought a replacement loaf of bread. The original one was damp for some reason. I figured it had something to do with where I stored it. However, the replacement loaf is also damp. I don’t know why and don’t want to know. I just won’t be buying anything perishable here again. Whole Foods is expensive but at least they offer some sort of guarantee on their products.
A bit more expensive than Stop and Shop & Shoprite. Not many sales priced products. The store overall is clean, bright and produce was good. I was impressed with Gluten Free options and Red Mill brand offerings.
To be honest this C Town is very expensive for no reason. I bought food there and 2 of the items I didn’t realize was expired. Since that the only supermarket around me. I would start traveling to shop rite and get the deal and none expire food
About two years ago a different management team took over. It took a while, and the interference of the pandemic, before their intentions became clear. Unlike the previous managers who had been there for too many years, the new guys recognize the rapidly changing demographics of their clientele.Inventory had been highly skewed to low income and limited food interests. I estimate they now carrying more than twice as many SKUs. Where they offered perhaps two brands of yogurt, the most popular priced brand names, they now carry at least 6 and sometimes eight, including the deluxe brands.Breads were the standard packaged stuff, likewise the popular brands. They now have shelves of small bakery breads that include both French and San Fran sourdough and artisan multigrain loaves.Likewise their fruit and vegetable selections are expanded. You used to find two or three brands of packaged dates. There are now at least 6. They now offer at least 4 more breakfast cereal brands. Honey and maple syrup choices have doubled. In conversation with the manager about these changes, they are aware of and positioning themselves for the huge number of new, upscale apartments within a five minutes walk that are being filled with more affluent and more sophisticated customers.
Such diverse/cultural food options, decent prices, and friendlystaff.
The manager in the store was super great you gave me change $4 so I can put inside of the meatus and you say it doesnt matter if you shop youre not Ill give it to you and it just so happens that my aunt shops there and right after she came back from the bank she went in and patronize the store love these people good work keep up the good job
Cost effective supermarket.
Everybody was courteous and the products were fresh and easy to find
I just went there to go shopping and was treated so horribly, I was told they take Apple Pay and when I tried to pay with it it wasn’t going through I asked why not since you just said you guys take apple pay and the lady told me she doesn’t know and I asked to speak to the manager and she told me she doesn’t know either just being balantly rude and after me being a loyal customer who is there almost every single day because I am a private chef and I do all my shopping there. I Called to make a complaint and was told the manager is busy and I have to call back because my issue doesn’t matter to them they don’t care about their customers DO NOT GO THERE TO SHOP THEY ARE VERY VERY RUDE AND DIGUSTING TO CUSTOMERS.
Everything on Sale is about to expire. They only put things about to expire on sale. And most items are overpriced. Most people go to Shoprite on Marin Blvd.
I have been going to this supermarket for more than 20 years. I want to appreciate it Staff and the Manager (the machine) for being at front line feeding us non stop during this terrible situation. Your are our heroes too. Also, thank you for getting new products and keeping it clean. Thank you so much.
Amazing staff, manager is super helpful and friendly.
Manager is excellent, he makes sure that everything is in place and people are using masks.
Very good experience. The Manager of the C Town of Jersey City is amazing. He is very corteous and always able to help me when I need any productbfrom the store. Excellent customer service!!!
Ctown supermarket theyve gotten so much fresh food..its clean and convenient, aisles are spacious +everything in one place to choose from
Fresh vegetables available here
TERRIBLE SERVICE! There is a little short man in charge of the store who walks around speaking to customers in a disrespectful, condensing manner. I WILL NEVER AGAIN SPEND MY MONEY THERE only to receive overpriced items & bad service in a cluttered Corona breeding ground. Please know its so many other places u can go to or order groceries from for far better prices & service while still not exposing yourself to Covid!
This isnt a bad grocery store if you just need essentials. Lately theyve had more vegetarian and vegan options, so they are branching out. But overall the selection tends to be pretty cookie cutter. I would steer clear of most of the produce, youll have better luck at any of the veggie stands on Bergen or the farmers market at JSQ when its open.
Good services, good produce and latin american products
Jersey City NJ location is a great store. Manager is always around. Everyone that works there is friendly and polite. Great selection for a small place. Produce section is excellent with good but small organic section too.
I give the store 2 stars for the variety of produce and convenience of location. I am new to the area, and my first experience here, I was harassed by what seems to be the manager (short, slim built man) who screamed at every person walking in, that the store is closing, he would then proceed to follow them at each isle, screaming the same thing. I hurried and grabbed the two items and checked out on time, not causing anyone any inconvenience. The consequent visits have also been extremely uncomfortable, he will scream at customers, stare inappropriately and uses his phone while pacing around, and shouting very loudly causing me anxiety at every single store visit. Not sure if hes new at his job, but he requires training on customer service and basic etiquette.
Place is nice, you will find better quality and more variety than many other stores around. But keep in mind that products here are little expensive here.
The prices are not competitive at all. This is a place to pick up something you need or forgot but not a place for your weekly shopping
A nice place to shop; friendly staff with COVID-19 strict precautions; I like it!
Its clean, friendly and pleasant. Costs slightly more on some things, but less on others... and always fresh. Ive never had to return anything
Excellent supermarket. Womderful staff. Very clean and well stocked. Great prices.
Everything here makes me sick. Really. Physically
Ask for hamdi, highly accommodating and on it. Very nice efficient staff
Walkable neighborhood market with a surprising variety of ethnic and organic packaged foods, vegetables and meats. Since parking is limited, people dont tend to buy in large quantities like some of the suburban supermarkets -- so the lines move quickly. Which is good, because the cramped aisles can make it difficult to move about during peak shopping hours.
The police in front of MVD. dept on summit ave. in JC was very rude. We are all going thru stuff but life goes on so be humble instead of acting very RUDE. Goes to show I was still # 1 on the line. SO DISABLED PPL FIRST ON LINE TO DMV. BUT DMV PPL. WAS VERY PLEASANT. TY LORD BLESS US ALL. AMEN
Great customer service. I asked for the IOS green juice and 2 gentleman promptly went to the back and retrieve it.
Great shopping store
Nice staff is helpful not very big but just the right size and I found most of the items I needed not all of them
Great prices, Great deals. Love it
A lot of his stuff are Expensive Compared to Costco or Bj .
Great place to get Mediterranean food
Its a small store but it has what you need. The manager is fantastic and will order things for you if they dont carry them. Because the store is so small and it is a very busy area, they go through products quickly. Everything is very fresh! Bring your own bags as they now charge for plastic bags. (JC rules, everywhere) Paper bags are free...for now
Great local neighborhood market and the manager is absolutely the best! Why a huge chain with more pockets hasnt snapped him up is beyond me, but extremely well run and surprisingly great items available with an extremely friendly staff! A true hidden gem in journal square!
It was a busy afternoon, but I think the store was still limiting the number of shoppers that could go in b/c of covid19. It would be more orderly, if they would stick some markers on the floor, esp. While waiting on the cashier lines. Just to avoid any unnecessary arguments among people. Thanks.
Excellent food shopping I like
This place is my go to, approximately 10 mins walk amd i always find what i want. staff is friendly too!!
I always have a pleasant experience when I shop here. The store is always clean too.
Place is kind of small and cramped but if you want to grab some things quick its ok...
Rude and unprofessional! I JUST called about an item. They tell me they have it. Im 20 minutes away. I get there, and they tell me they dont have in stock. But they told me over the phone they even have it in ALL DIFFERENT SIZES! I called to ask for manager. Hes busy. For hours busy. Sandra was supposedly who answered, fake name, I was INSIDE the store when I called and that wasnt her name tag. Grow up and say you were wrong. Meanwhile, my $ wasted on gas travelling there. Only stock people are nice. Smh. Turns out they havent had item in months. So why lie?! NEVER going there again!
The store was very small ; you have to pay for bags and you have to check in items you may have purchased from other stores which is an invasion of privacy however the produce was very fresh would I visit the store again no
It was Ok
Nice and easy place from my place, the staff is very helpful
Great shopping experience. The supermarket is clean though small. The prices are great and good customer service. Plus its easy to get to and strategically located in downtown Journal Square.
No sushi or crab legs?
They pack a surprising amount of variety into a small store. The produce, meat, cheese, and bread are always fresh and good quality. Gets crowded sometimes but thats expected given its location.
The manager needs to learn how to be more professional. I was shopping here almost every day, but I will not shop here anymore. Well, last week I bought two sardine cans. One of them was good, and the other one had a hole on it. I came to exchange it or get my refund. He refused. Do you accept to feed your kids something like? Of course not. Loosing a costumer over 2$ is not professional at all. Do not be cheap.
I live right next to it so I get some small things from there but I wouldnt go there for all my grocery! The items are more EXPENSIVE from regular grocery stores like BJs and Walmart etc.. Its a small store and I try to avoid going there during the pandemic because there is very little safety there!! And whats worse when trying to keep social distancing your probably just going to get bumped around. Be very cautious as the store is very compact!
I like this place. Fruits N vegetables are fresh.
The delivery service to the best buying $70 or more of food gets you a free ride home
Good, but basic selection. Some fun international foods.
Always smells in there and items are extremely over priced.
Friendly must wear mask.
A great store, has halal meat for a good price, good quality produce, great collection of middle eastern products, and a great customer service, the manager is helpful and goes the extra mile.
The staff here is very nice and you dont get attitude. There is a suitable selection of organic food to buy. Its okay for a small neighborhood store.
Very welcoming
Wish there were more middle eastern products
Neat store, nice array of items.
This is a really good place to go if you need to buy something quickly, you can find what you are looking for dinner. I really like it, now Im a regular customer. The store is not expensive and the have good products.
Favorite supermarket in Jersey City.
Has sweet baby rays buffalo sauce
CTown has a new name its called Central Square
Wide array of groceries. Affordable prices and occasional deals. A real gem near Indian street. Im Indian and I like good vegetables. The ones on Indian street are sub standard. C Town has a very good collection of mostly fresh vegetables. Sometimes their veggies look sad, just sometimes though. They have a decent collection of sauces, milk, cheeses, bread (this is coming from someone who is not a fan of Indian street grocery stores. They dont have most of the items I need!)
I love this place. I like that they carry everything I’m looking for. I love their organic products and their fresh produce. I also like their meat department. My mom purchases meat and it’s always fresh, we haven’t had a bad experience at all.
Most of my Halal staff I got it from here, friendly and co operate staff
High quality food and snacks.
This C-town is one of my favorite neighborhood haunts, one because the store staff are quite friendly and helpful, and two, I really appreciate their ever expanding organic food options! Two Thumbs Up!! 😃👍👍
Whoever was working second cash register at around 10 am there today was cute
VERY CLEAN VERY RESPECTFUL
Prices are high but there sales are really good
Good place, nice market you find everything that you need fress products
The manager is nice and also the people that work there are very helpful and friendly. This is my first place to go for groceries.
Good service
This is an update as of 9-24-2019. In the last year the prepared food area in the deli section has improved dramatically. Alma is the chef and manages this area as well the entire deli section. She makes usually 2/3 entrees daily plus rice and or potatoes and vegetables. The food is always excellent and great service with a smile. She is ably assisted in the deli area by Sondra - if Sondra wasnt there Alma could not do what she does.DO NOT miss sampling Almas cafe nook!!!
A bit crowded because small but good
Great people
Great pkace to fined those odd things to cook with
I appreciate the range of items they have, and if you check the circular you can find some good prices. But some items have regular prices that are twice any store in the area. Items with “managers special” discounts are rarely a good value. Items are sold closed to or past their expiration date, and advertised discounts often don’t ring up automatically.
The problem is the difference between the price at the line and the price in the store more than the other one at the line
Rude staff
Great selection. Moved away but still go there.
C-Town food market has a problem with their isle spacing, not too much room for getting around with your shopping cart.
Ive been to this C-Town very often, but I have noticed that the manager is rude to his employees and to the customers as well, literally yells at them in front of everyone. He harasses the cashiers, very uncomfortable to watch- the way he looks at them is disgusting. During these times, you would think its inappropriate to show bias or profiling towards people but yet he still manages to be rude to certain groups of people, trust me ive seen the altercations. People like him are the reason people are still protesting. Unprofessional, and unbelievable. My acquaintances and I will not return here ever again.
What I most love about this CTown location is the managers willingness to diversify product. As a mostly plant based eater, vegan snacks are hard to come by in neighborhoods where our gross income is not that of the middle class. Thank you! ...On the other hand, I dont trust the loose produce. It most often looks janky so I have long stopped purchasing. ...Maybe Im wrong.
Manager of this location is a blessing even during this crisis he is making it a pleasant shopping experience and I admire people like this keep up the great job and stay safe
Somebody should report the jersey city community board and the consumer affairs, this location high jacks prices for no reason what so ever, same items in other stores around the same block are much cheaper, they should be finned and locked up till they learn their lesson
Meat & poultry selection 👍. Beef, Turkey, Chicken, Pork products. Cashiers knowledgeable. Prices reasonable...
I Came for the fresh Cajun Catfish, I needed more packs and the men from the meat department immediately went to the back to prepare more for me and for that I give this super market five stars⭐The fruits and vegetables are usually fresh plus they have car service which is a plus👌
Ok
C-town has always been my neighborhood supermarket and I can always count on them having a great sale every week of the year the food is clean and service is always the best there smaller than shop rite but Im sticking with them.
