Horrible experience! I initially reached out about getting a quote on a seemingly routine fiberglass repair and repaint. They requested pics and explanation of work. I was upfront about the job and timeline and they appeared interested and willing. I just wanted a quote. I was told to follow up weeks after the initial call because that is when they could get me in. I did....No response and no quote.I finally called the office and spoke to the shop foreman. He requested I bring it by. I drove an hour to have them pre-inspect my boat for a more accurate quote. He told me he would have a quote to me in a few days. Again no response and no quote...They must be way too busy because I am still waiting on that response and quote..lol.Very disappointed but I guess that is the world we live in.
Normally, I would not take the time to write a review good or bad. But, after 3 weeks and the disappointing job that was done waxing our boat, and the aggravation my husband and I had to deal with, I needed to write this. Our boat is a 1985 an we understand that its not perfect. However, if you wax a boat or anything even if its not perfect, it should still bead water or look as if wax was on it. If you ask for an install of a transdoser for your Garmin, the install should include connecting it to the Garmin. Not leaving 30ft of cable in the engine room sitting there. There were other issues, but this review is long enough. Our overall experience with Huckins (2 xs) has not been good. The office needs alot better management. Their communication to their customers and quality control leaves alot to be desired.
One of the finest makers of yachts in the world. Their service department is also top notch and reasonably priced.
Huckins yachts is a great place to bring your boat for service or repairs. The staff is full of knowledge. Each person takes pride in their job. They can handle anything from a simple boat pull and bottom job to a professional paint job to any mechanical and electrical work.Once you use them you wont have a need for any other yard. Thanks huckins crew for the great work on my boat.Kevin Ahearn.
The person you are looking for there is never available and they do not return phone calls. I have never seen a business work so hard at avoiding business!!
This is from Reggie Roberts, I’m on my wife’s iPad. Would like to say thanks to PJ and Ryan for getting my problem fixed. Thank again, Reggie Roberts USCG 100 Ton Master.
PJ was wonderful to work with! Huckins Yacht Corporation showed amazing patients with me. Huckins allows outside contractors hired by owners wanting specialized services. Even though this creates unique challenges for PJ and his Team, they embraced this type of service delivery. As an owner of a Kadey Krogen 44WB Trawler Yacht, I like the attention to detail that was exhibited by Huckins. I did have some difficulty with one of the contractors that I hired however PJ assisted in brokering a resolution. So not only did I have control over deciding on contractors, PJ provided guidance and was willing to get involved as a result of a challenge.
Took care in a time of need. Thank you Huckins
We have used them for several years for our boat. Each experience has been fantastic. Deb in the office is pleasant, knowledgeable and never disappoints. She is eager to handle each and every need we have had and keeps smiling no matter what. The entire staff are just as helpful. We highly recommend them for anyone who needs from the basic to major boat repair.
I have had my boat, a 45 Californian motor yacht, in the Huckins yard two times. On both occasions, every one of the mechanics and workmen were professional, efficient, and pleasant. They helped me fix a few things that I worked on myself, and were always available for a quick question or some advice.I strongly recommend this company. Their prices are reasonable, and they react quickly to your needs. What else can you ask for?
Huckins has a great staff that knows their job. They are honest and know what they are doing. They do great work and if for some reason, something isn’t right, they will quickly make it right. They stand behind their work. Great place to have work done.We have had thousands of dollars of work done at Huckins over the past few years and we are very satisfied with their work.
Awesome folks with customers in mind all the time.
Good people
We highly recommend Huckins Yacht Corporation in Ortega, Jacksonville, Florida. We recently took our 46 foot sport coupe to Huckins Yacht for bottom painting, engine and generator service, fiberglass repair and a wash and wax. We discussed the scope of work with PJ and he set up a schedule for completion. We arranged to have the engine, generator and waxing work done by outside contractors. PJ coordinated this with our vendors and notified us as the work progressed. Upon pulling the boat from the water he notified us that the previous bottom paint, put on at another boat yard, was insufficient and had not held up well. He discussed options with us so that we could make an informed decision. Huckins texted pictures of the work in progress and we were welcome when we dropped by to check on the boat; the yard actually encouraged our visiting. While the boat was there, we asked them to complete a fiberglass repair on the side of the boat. The fiberglass work was so well done that although we’ve looked many times we cannot even find the place where the repair was made. We were very impressed with the quality of work and continuous contact during our time at Huckins Yacht and cannot thank PJ, Craig and our team enough for their great service. We will certainly return to Huckins Yacht next time.
The Huckins team was great! They welcomed us almost daily as our boat was getting a completely new bottom. They worked with us each step of the way and when an unexpected challenge arose at the last minute, I felt well taken care of through their expertise. Great communication, genuine customer service, and outstanding pride in their work!
We had an extensive list of repairs and upgrades to be done while we went back home for an extended period of time. All work was performed satisfactorily. Like with any marine technician, it is better to be able to witness what is being done, but we were not in a position to do that. I think it would be fair to say that there were some challenges along the way, but the crew at Huckins made everything right. One thing that they excelled at was their customer service. They were kind, accommodating, empathetic and very responsible. In this regard they were the best that we have ever dealt with.
Refreshingly professional, friendly, honest, thorough and accommodating – that is what our experience was with the Huckins team. Everyone who met and worked with us, from Cindy to Sara to Tricia to PJ to Craig, was helpful, patient and treated us with respect. As new boat owners having hull maintenance for the first time, we had many, many questions that were always met with complete and thoughtful answers. We knew that our ‘new’ boat, that was actually an old boat, would present a few unforeseeable challenges for the Huckins team, but as each arose, we were contacted and provided a full explanation of the issue and our options. It is easy to entrust your interests to those in whom you have trust! We felt that we received quality work in a timely manner at a very reasonable rate. The synopsis: Huckins proved to be the type of business with which we wish to do business. We will be back for future maintenance, and we recommend Huckins to anyone seeking trustworthy and friendly marine service!
I, for one, cannot say enough positive things about Huckins Marina!! After checking on 3 different places to get the bottom done on my Mainship 390, I chose them for their economical estimate. Naturally, I worried that if I paid less I might be satisfied less, but nothing could be further from the truth! Right from the start, Tricia was so friendly and accommodating when answering all of my initial questions. Jeremy impressed me when he took his shoes off before coming aboard to help tie her off. Chris taught me what to look for when checking the drive shaft and prop, not to mention that he did a heck of a job fixing several blisters! They even helped me with my bow thruster which was not on the repair list. I could go on and mention more individuals by name but ALL of the people at this marina were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful! In summary, the boat was done on time, the workmanship was excellent and there were no hidden costs even though they did a few extra things! I highly recommend Huckins Marina to anyone looking for an honest business to handle their boat with hard working, as well as, qualified employees! I will definitely be back! I recently had my hull painted and other updates done at the Huckins yard. Their customer service was great and they were very responsive and kept me informed throughout the process. Their paint shop does excellent work...Im very happy with the results.
Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. PJ, Sara, Justin, Cindy, Tricia, Buddy, and more will do everything they can to make your experience worthwhile. I used their mechanical, electrical, and paint services and could not be more thrilled with the results.
Calm setti g
I had Huckins do a bottom job on my 32 Trojan Fly Bridge. They were friendly, professional, and did an outstanding job. I recommend Huckins Highly!
They have done several jobs for me including hatch repair, engine repair, bilge cleaning, etc. All their work was done on time, in budget, and very professionally. Anyone who asks them to do work, even on sailboats like mine (45 Bruce Roberts) will be satisfied or they will make it right.
Five plus stars. All of the work performed on my fifty year old Huckins including hull and top side paint, replacing bow thruster, new inverter, new props stripping fiberglass bottom and re-fiberglassing were expertly accomplished on time and on budget!Good people to work with and exceptional facility!
Had Huckins service try to repair the spider cracks on my 48 Viking. Needless to say I paid for a first class job and the repair did not last two years. I was assured by Paul Rogers at Huckins they could fix my boat. Simply put they rushed the job and did not remove enough gelcoat to prevent the cracking. from recurring again. Bottom line they did a dismal job on my boat THE C FAN.
Our second visit to Huckins for service on our trawler in 3 yrs. Once again P.J. demonstrates a professional customer service attitude and provides us with above the norm for service. Thanks PJ!
Love them !! Very friendly and accomodating.
Very helpful and professional staff.
Quality product, timeless.
