Won’t ever go to this place terribly rude employees, just feel like they don’t even want the business. So many other places with just as good if not better stuff without the stress and hassle of the employees here
I rarely leave negative reviews and have never left a Google review, but Im just very disappointed. Been shopping here for years (10+), mostly jewelry. Always had a lovely experience and enjoyed chatting with the volunteers, but in the last two to three weeks had very upsetting interactions with the jewelry department. I called into purchase a piece (per policy) and found out after I went in a few days later to pick it up that it had been put back and sold becuase my card didnt go through (I made a different purchase that same day in the store so Im assuming some numbers got jumbled in the phone call). I was told I had been called back soon after, but after checking my call log, that wasnt true. I let the manager know that I was upset, but ended up purchasing another ring and left - I felt I was very reasonable; I did not raise my voice, or flail my arms...etc. I just heard back from my jeweler (I make it a habit of taking any pieces I buy second-hand in for a check) that the stone in the ring I bought that day was synthetic. This would normally not be an issue, but I was told (erroneously) by a volunteer salesperson that while they didnt know what it was, they had it tested and knew it was natural. I called back and spoke to the jewelry manager again - in a call that lasted 5 min and 43 seconds where I was explaining how disappointed I was to have two unfortunate issues happen back to back in so short a time, she escalated the situation by cutting me off and saying she would give me my money back if I agreed to never shop there again. I have to say I was shocked. I had not asked for my money back and was not going to - I know the money goes to good causes. I had considered asking for store credit or an exchange, but was never given the time to even get to that point. I immediately responded that I would not need a refund, but I would also not be shopping there anymore. I will miss the lovely volunteers who I enjoyed chatting about jewelry with and sorry that I will not be purchasing/donating to this organization anymore, but Ive never felt so disrepected by a business in many, many years. I would never tell anyone not to shop here, but if you purchase jewelry, just please be sure to ask specific questions ahead of time, take pictures with your phone, remember who you spoke to, and keep your receipt.
Seasoned thrifters, this is the promised land! Beautifully organized. Lots of furniture and decor. Dont miss it!
I took my first consignment of home decor to The Guild Shop recently. The volunteers met me in the parking lot to accept my items and the process was smooth and fast. I also enjoy shopping at the Guild.
I recently wanted to consign a glass coffee table and end table and an employee stated they were not taking any glass tables, however, when I visited the store they had a glass coffee table for sale. I inquired about the consignment of the table she stated the reason it was consigned was because it belonged to the director.I asked to speak to the mgr and she confirmed it belonged to someone on the board. I dont agree with the fact that exceptions are made for the board of directors. She responded with sorry.
I have been frequenting the Guild Shop for seven years, I love consignment clothes, home goods and furniture. The ease of working with Regina and staff to being in furniture, pricing it at a fair cost and receiving my check is a great way to pass on great furniture to others that can enjoy and use in their home.
I think this is one of my favorite thrift stores. I always seem to find at least one treasure to leave with. My favorites so far are a simple, yet lovely, painting of blackberries and the same exact trivet my mom had when I was growing up. The staff is friendly and the environment is clean--it is nothing like most thrift shops, where the air feels and smells dusty and stale. The prices seem very fair for a higher end thrift store.
The Guild shop is an innovative new experience in Gently used items and second time around. The store is so clean, smells good and so organized. The staff and volunteers are always available with a smile and ready to help. I have found last minute gifts as well as holiday and birthday gifts of good quality. They also have nice clean washrooms for customers.
A giant selection of fun stuff. :) The staff/volunteers were really nice and helpful. I definitely want to go back.
The store is very interesting and offers a lot.... The only negative about this place is the security guard in the parking lot. He was very rude!
Great resale variety shop.Bought a dresser!
RUDE EMPLOYEES!! I asked to see a ring and an employee named CATHY handed it to me for 5 seconds before aggressively snatching it out of my hand. Apparently I look like a thief and can’t be trusted to admire a gold ring for more than 5 seconds. I really wanted to buy it but this interaction really put a damper on my first experience here. Won’t be back after feeling unwelcome.
Excellent service in the store. I always manage to find something unique and affordable.
Love this place for the mix merchandise they have. From glassware to furnitures. My favorite is the glassware section. So beautiful.
I love this place because the owners are very welcoming. I really feel they appreciate my business.
One of the finest high end resale stores in Houston, with the most devout following & highest quality goods. The Guild is a Houston institution and does a remarkable job with their witty social media posts. Been a customer since the mid 90s, and hope to be for longer more!
So much variety and great prices.
Lots if unique and quality houseware
Great. No wait. No parking problems. Friendly lady. Nice breeze. Wish we could bring more than 5 items at a time, tho.
Always the best stuff at amazing prices. A huge fan since the 90s. The staff is the absolutely fantastic too. The Guild Shop never disapoints!
My absolutely favorite consignment store. HUGE selection of EVERYTHING!! Very helpful volunteers. Clean and extremely well organized. So must fun. Look up the definition of Serendipity and youll see a photo of The Guild.
Shopping at The Guild is wonderful! There is a huge variety of items. Everything is priced fairly, and it is rewarding to know that proceeds go to such a good cause.
First time here. It is a lovely store, however the cashier was very rude.
I Love it. This place is a lot bigger than it looks, I really like the furniture and house hold items dishes, serving wear from old to true antiques. They have something for everyone, your sure to enjoy yourself. Get Here Early on the weekend limited parking lot. Find something for you or a loved one and help the Elderly they are often look over for people in need. So... Have Fun
So many nice things...jewelry, clothes, furniture, nick nacks and many other collectibles.
So. Much. Awesome!
My mom was so excited to bring me and my sister here today. Now I know why! I loved it! Lots of gorgeous and unique items priced fairly.
This place always have a great variety of used goods, seems like every day theres something new, prices are good too. Great place to take your items you no longer need for consignment, they usually price them and have them on the floor within a couple days, always plenty of good brands clothing, shoes, purses.
This high-end consignment/resale shop looks smaller from the street. It actually has several rooms with a lot of nooks and crannies. They have a large selection of womens clothing including furs. The selection of mens clothing is very limited. There is a large selection of framed art, furniture, china, jewelry, etc.
Nice things to check out, for a relaxing afternoon, during the weekend for us. They are non profit shop and all these nice things were donated by rich folks. Most of them are in good shape and good quality. No returns.
Great place to go to dig for buried treasure. Some times youll find some fantastic bargains and rare items at a great price. Other times are kind of a bust. But thats all part of the magic of resale shopping. This is one of the best places for it. Staff is always kind and helpful.
A treasure hunting place. WARNING: wheelchair access is more theoretical than practical. Narrow passages around breakables and multiple level flooring /stepdowns. Its an old building and full to the brim. Donations come from higher income areas and older populations. That makes for more interesting and valuable stock. Since profits go to multiple charities, prices are not give-away levels. Tags show date dependent mark-downs. Just dont count on your find still being around for the lower price. Jewelery, glassware/china, housewares, clothing/shoes, furniture...the usual categories...just better quality than most resale shops. Volunteer staff are pleasant, helpful and numerous. Handicapped parking on concrete near the door. Larger parking lot is beside the building and primarily packed gravel.Go, with plenty of time, and find something you didnt know you needed.
Super awesome collections and selections. Proceeds go to support 7 senior groups and run by volunteers. New stuff goes out at the end of the month.
My family loves this place! I recently moved and found a number of items here at a fantastic price. Excellent place to go if you like refinishing or reworking stuff as well. Just and interesting shop all around.
Good selection,very helpful personal.
I helped deliver some items for resale. It was my favorite 1st visit but it seemed interesting enough to return when I have more time
We have been to this shop a couple of times and found some really good buys on Waterford Crystal. Today we drove two hours to get there only to find out that even. though the store closes at 3:30 all the glass cases close at 3:15 so we were not able to purchase what we drove two hours for which was very frustrating. I completely understand the closing time of the store but it would be nice if they would have posted that the glass cases close 15 minutes earlier. The staff was very inconsiderate, never apologized.
Lots of stuff there and it turns over quckly.
The selection at the Guild is the best in the area hands down. It is a consignment store not a true thrift store, which most in the area are as well. This means the prices are higher than Im typically looking for. However, the service was superb, and the selection is amazing. I would compare it more to a nice antique store with slightly lower prices, but you wont find many steals here. I found most items for higher than I do regularly on eBay.
The sell quality items and authentic vintage and antique pieces. They offer a free parking lot. Theyre not pushy. I always have a positive experience and never walk out empty handed.
Best consignment deal in town. Knowledgeable, friendly staff of volunteers dedicated to giving customers and consigners an upscale, delightful experience. 😊
Today, was actually my first day of consigning items for the guild shop to sell on my behalf and it was a fantastic experience as everyone I met today in person was so kind and helpful which I really appreciate. Carmen in accounting was so sweet and so kind I really felt at home here and I felt like I could trust the guild shop as my business partner e.in selling the goods for a fair price. Hwever I trust that the guild shop will get the best price possible for the goods and if not, there will be lessons learned, which can have a greater value than monetary value. The amount of knowledge alone one can pick up from consigning things here is a lot. I look forward to doing business with all of you at the guild shop and also thank you for making everything a breeze today I really appreciate you all I wish I could give him more than five stars
Huge selection. U name it theyve got it stashed somewhere. Take some time to browse and find all the hidden treasures!
Not as great as a lot of people make it out to be. There are treasures to be found but the place in well known and well picked. Prices can be a little high for new arrivals. Its worth a look but you have to go all the time to make a real find here.
It was a great place to shop. I called ahead because I was bringing a group. They made arrangements for our bus to park and were very friendly to our group.
I always find something at The Guild Shop that I want no matter what the price. Its only worth what someone is willing to pay. Makes no since to compare to Good Will prices...two different places with two different goals. This place always brings me back to the good old days when craftsmanship was at its best.
This place is amazing. Jewelry, clothing, China, furniture, art work...about the only thing NOT there are cars...or maybe I missed that aisle. Really, give this a try sometime.
Good place to buy things . Im a long time customer for over 37, years straight.I been come twice a week are at least 8 to 12, time a month its been regular ritual in my life for over 37, years . I enjoy coming here have a lot of memories in my lifetime . The security guard his name is Gilbert very helpful and very pleasant and professional .Every time I walk to the guild shop doors Im always finding something that I like that I have to have I dont know if a curse or blessing. I just know Im always leave with something in my hands .
Always a great find, I have a few pieces Im watching there
Wonderful selection of everything! Womens clothes and JEWELRY!!! Furniture, dishes and home decor!! Worth the drive.
Love the Guild and their volunteers. This is a place taking in consignments and donations, cataloging and displaying quality items for resale and supporting their charitable organization. Feel safe--Security is on premises. It does so much for the community. Love going there whenever traveling to and through Houston TX. Thank you!
Helpful and friendly staff. Organized well into general sections. I found a great coffee table under $50 and left extremely pleased. Parking just across the street
One of the very best re-sale shops in the Montrose area. Check out the glassware and china selection. Beautiful furniture and antiques. Fair selection of clothing. Be sure to check the business hours before going by. The store is not open long hours. Check it out. You wont be disappointed.
Interesting resale shop. Prices are a little high, but the quality and selection are very good.
I LOVE this store. You name it they usually have it here at good prices. Pay attention to the tags because as the item stays there it will be marked down even more!!! Cant wait to go again!!
Cool place with an awesome concept. The prices drop on items the longer they stay on the shelf. Check the tag. Might be worth waiting a couple days for the price to drop (Significantly). Buyer beware: wait too long and someone else will snatch it up first.
This place is remarkable and one of the best kept secrets. I am songladvtonhave found it so now every trip to Houston i have to stop there..
Excellent!!!! I love this place!!! If you like resale shopping this is the place to go. Lots of resale clothing, jewelry, bric-a-brac, glassware and collectibles, paintings, furniture, yard art. Cant wait to go back!
The Guild Shop provides furniture, clothing, jewelry and a lot more at a great price. In regards to the furniture to include household items, the prices continue to drop the longer they are in the store. This store has multiple employees that will go out of there way to assist you. Whenever Im looking, The Guild Shop is my 1st stop!
Fantastic selection of used furniture, dining ware, lamps, pretty much anything you would need to furnish your home! All at a great price, for a good cause. Cant recommend enough!
Very interesting place full of nice collectable things!
Very nice resale shop. So much stuff.
The best place to go for the ultimate upscale thrift experience.
Good prices...good merchandise to be consigment store 👍👍
I cant describe in few words its such great store especially house items and furniture.
You can really find some awesome second hand furniture and art!
Its a little hard to rate the Guild Shop. My mother loves coming here, and even volunteers for them, so I went to look for a small table for my new apartment. What I noticed was that many of the items sold here were just too expensive for resale. Of particular note were several Ikea items selling for more than their listing new. On the other hand, there were many great deals on items of a unique appeal, but didnt fit what I wanted. I think its a great shop, but the prices vary widely, so be careful when you are shopping here.
Houstons best resale shop. The Guild is absolutely enormous. They have the largest selection in town of everything - clothing, knick-knacks, tableware, furniture, art, jewelry and whatnot. The prices are reduced as time goes by which creates good turnover as well as good bargains. They even accept credit cards.
The best place for high end throttling. They have an amazing consignment section and a stunning jewellery section. It the furniture and dishware sections are incredible
A fantastic place to shop for high or low end consignment/furniture! See you soon!
A great place to shop for high quality gently used household goods, jewelry, fashions, party attire.
Has a lot of items at a good price. Do look around and you will find so.ething you like.
Friendly service, well organized, I was hoping to find a robe but they had none.
I have shopped and consigned here for the past twenty years. However, during the past five years, service and quality have become poor. They frequently lose track of consigned goods. The woman who runs the furniture consignments is rude and uncouth. Hence, most of the furnishings are overpriced junk. Many of the other items are damaged. Finally, last week when I visited the store, the officer on duty carefully watched customers of color.
Got the run around. They were totally willing to come look at my things if i was going to donate them, but for resale consignment they were not interested in coming to Cypress to see an estate worth in excess of $70,000 easily. Thanks for your help...
Love love love this place. Its like going back in time and you never want to leave
Excellent second hand merchandise. Excellent selection.
Great thrift/consignment store. Prices are a little high
I was so excited to go shop here. We got there about 30 minutes before they closed on a Friday. I picked out a brooch and a cookie jar. We went to pay and only one register was working so we waited for almost 10 minutes. After the items were rung up, the cashier straight up lost my brooch. In the span of about 2 minutes, it was gone and he didnt seem too concerned. The Executive Director came over to help and she looked for like 30 seconds and then just kind of shrugged and laughed. Luckily we hadnt paid yet so we just left. I realize the workers are volunteers, but Id hope someone with the title Executive Director would be a bit more professional. It was evident they were all just trying to hurry up and get out of there.
Hands down Houstons premiere secondhand store, it is also one of the best places in town to buy vintage jewelry (or furs if youre into that). Great place to buy art pieces, knicknacks, or kitchenware/appliances!
Always great finds there
I have been a customer at The Guild Shop for many years and have been satisfied until today. This week my wife and I were there and made an offer on a sofa. The person who was to make the decision on our offer was on the phone and said she would be right out. She never came out but went to lunch instead. I left a message asking her to call me. The next day I got two calls from The Guild Shop and the second one was from the lady I needed to talk to. We discussed the matter and agreed on a price. They were about to close so she said to come in the next morning and talk to a person who could do the actual markdown, as it would be her day off. We went in the this morning as instructed and waited for the man to come into work at 11:00. When the person showed up he said well she is not here so this is a completely different situation it makes no difference what she said. He then went to talk to someone else and said that they would not honor the price that I was given and had agreed to. I live a long distance from the shop and had arrived early as the lady said if the sofa sold before the man got there, at the higher price, that was just how it goes.I was very angry for the run a round and left. When I returned home I called the manager who essentially said that was against their policy and that she would not honor the verbal contract I had on the price of the sofa. Real nice people dont you think? It is clear that the first lady should have turned down our offer in the first place, but since she agreed to the offer and we lived up to the parameters she set, we have a verbal contract which in the state of Texas is just as binding as a written contract. It is clear that The Guild Shop does not care about breaking the law nor do they have a sense of fairness. The funny thing is when the manager called me back she had a group of MBA students from Rice, I believe, there that she was doing a session with. I hope she told them to pay attention to Contracts 101. The manager is going to talk to the lady who made the deal with me and call me back on Monday, but that they were not going to honor the contract. They do not understand or care about customer service at all. That is sad because The Guild Shop is supposed to serve the community as a non profit.
The Guild Shop has an amazing selection of goods: decorative, kitchenware, accessories, clothes, jewelry, and furniture. I recently visited a few other thrift stores in the Westheimer & Dunlavy area, and found myself visiting Guild Shop again. Although a bit cramped for the wide selection of goods, Guild Shop has a high quality selection.Another great quality of Guild Shop is their pricing system. I recently bought a beautiful table vase made in Japan for only $3. The sticker price said $15, but Guild Shop has a system where the price is discounted every month it sits on the shelf. My friend also found 4 Pyrex beakers for only $4.50!Again, I really love the selection and pricing system of this thrift store. I will be sure to continue shopping here in the future!
Anti Licensed Concealed Carry store. JMHO! Thats like saying Thugs welcome here, Good Guys Not.
There so many unique items. Buy them when you see them, they wont be there when you go back. And the prices are ridiculously wonderful
Great place for antiques and used clothing. Theyre pricing system is firm, but the prices lower whenever the date listed on the tag passes. Definitely worth checking out.
Lots of nice things at good prices!!
This is a hidden gem in Houston, so many unique finds.
Can find some great stuff here. Fun to browse.
You will definitely find something you like here.
Great place to check out...prices lower over time.
Fun little resale shop with a wide selection
The guild shop is a really fun store to look around in. Some items are definitely way more expensive that you expect but Im sure they must be quality/vintage items.
Great place to shop! A unique blend of household items, art, crystal, china, furniture. You name it, they have.
You can find good value for prices here
Love this thrift store one of the best ones in the area
Its Nice place.but the women working here really dont wanna be here or there just super judgemental about people with tattoos..... you can really tell by how the talk, acted, treat you while your in the shop.
There is LOTS of stuff in this place! I went with my neighbor who wanted to consign some things that were too heavy for her to lift, so I went along to help her out. (I had been before.) We went early as the place can get very, very busy with people shopping as well as bringing things to sell.My positive comments are that they have something for everyone (if one is so inclined) and the ladies who work there are all super nice, from the lady who helped my friend consign her items, to the lady behind the jewelry counter, to the ladies who checked us out. All very helpful and very friendly.Be aware that 1) the parking lot, which is free, can get very busy, but there always seemed to be a couple of open spots, 2) the line of people waiting to consign can be very long and the people have to wait in line in the middle of the store, which makes it awkward to shop in that area (they need a separate drop off point like the Blue Bird Circle) and 3) I always feel dusty when I come out of the store, so, if you handle things, dont use your hands around your eyes until you can wash them.
