The workers at Prime Camera Rental are the best! They rent and sell high end visual and sound equipment and accessories.All I wanted to know was how can I use my little cell phone to put up videos and get good sound on YouTube. They patiently explained how to do that and also explained the whys and hows of sound equipment for podcasts. I bought a microphone that was perfect for what I want to do at an introductory level. Go to Prime Camera Rental for the quality products but also go there for the excellent service. Thank you!

If you are a Nikon oriented, this place isnt for you. They mainly carry sony and canon products and their stock is very limited. Also I was told that they deal primarily with video equipment versus photography, which is insane when their sign literally says Prime Camera PHOTO & Video.

Gia the floor manager is gem of a person and the right one to contact if you are a filmmaker and wanna visit Prime Camera and Scott is the man to get help from.. he helped my find the right rig for my gear and not only that he assembled and then disassembled everything as I was an international customer just to make sure I get things right. We had a great experience our first time renting. The staff was helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. I would give 5 stars but they have limited rental inventory and they dont always answer the phone or return emails.

I usually rent lenses online but after renting for the first time from Prime Camera, they are going to be my go-to. I did have a small issue with my order when I showed up to pick it up but Jay that works there worked swiftly to get the issue sorted out and everything turned out great! Definitely recommend.

My dog tore her cruciate ligament on equipment pick-up day and I wasn’t able to drop by before closing time after taking care of her. Prime camera gave us a full refund and that made my day. Used to go to other places in the city but I’m happy to make the switch.

I was searching all over Houston for an XLR adapter to attach to my camera to no avail. Finally, I searched for other photography stores and Prime Camera was at the top of the list. As soon as I walked in the store, I was greeted by a very nice sales guy. I explained what I was looking for and he immediately guided me to the area where the product was. They had few in stock which made me very happy. I recommend Prime camera a to anyone looking for too notch cameras and accessories.

This is a real treasure for the Houston photography/video world. I recently purchased a professional video camera from this outfit. Yes, I could have bought the same item on-line but the personal attention I received from the Store Manger was invaluable. I purchased the camera at about noon, and with her help, I was on my first assignment only a few hours later. Very nice indeed.

I was traveling through Houston and realized I had left the quick release for my tripod at home. The store didnt have the exact one, but Gia sifted through their collection of orphaned quick releases and found one that worked with my tripod. You dont find that level of, Lets fix the problem, service much anymore.All my camera expenses when in Houston will be with them. Thank you!

Equipment is good, but they open late. Tough to return equipment during the week before work. Plus instead of opening at 9am (as posted) it is 9:06 and no one in sight.

Great place for camera supplies, photography equipment, and lenses. Less good for videography, but if you’re a photography buff or novice, you’re bound to find this place helpful and enthusiastic about the products and services they offer.

I am not happy with the service at this location. They had camera rigs posted online for sale that they false advertised. The ad stated they were trying to get rid of all their rigs cheap but when I arrived to the location they lied about the price. Not only that I never received any call backs from them on gear I was interested in. Id definitely take my business to Houston Camera Exchange. Their floor wasnt stocked like it used to be anyways.

This place saved my butt when I was looking for a hot shoe and a plate to mount a battery and audio recorder to my filming rig. Every camera place that I went to kept telling me to go to this store and I would find what I needed and I did. They also have a nice selection of accessories and stabilizers/mounts. The employees there were extremely helpful (which saved my butt) and friendly.

It was ok just they really more so focused on rentals and video equipment not really so much the home photographer aspect of it all

Ive use MicroSearch for years. Great place, nice people and lots of gear. I had a problem with a Blackmagic switcher and they drove to my shoot location and traded out the broken one for a new one no questions asked. Also, no charge. You cant get that from B and H.

I like to rent equipment from here occasionally when I need it and they have a pretty decent selection. Ive also seen a couple of times people going in there to rent something and only having cash, and they do not accept cash for rentals.

Bought a Sennheiser product. Doug was my salesperson. Very friendly and a wealth of information. Made sure I got the manufacturers rebate which was nice. Will shop there again.

Awesome service went above and beyond! We needed a Cfast card reader and could not find it anywhere. The kind lady let us borrow their reader without any hassle and then sold us the in store reader (which may have been the only one in Houston). She saved our project!

Well, first of all, everyone here is so welcoming and down to Earth, no camera elitist snobs or Im too cool for school attitudes. Prath (please let that be his name) was so cool and patiently answered all my questions. Free classes on useful things you need to know.The ONLY thing was that the website doesnt properly convey how cool this place is; I didnt know they carried Peak Design until I walked in. I love this place. These are people who genuinely care about their customers. I had a gig and needed an array of things, hence my visit.It was quite busy that day, the manager (GIA) dropped what she was doing and asked me if I needed help. I told her Id wait for one of the guys on the floor, but she insisted that it was okay and that what she was doing could wait.She took the time to listen to me. Gave me detailed info on a couple of the lenses I inquired on.Even allowed me to check it out for myself!She also threw in a discount for a couple other things that made life easier for me.I highly recommend them and I have no intention of renting or purchasing video/photo gear elsewhere!Prime Camera (Houston) is well organized. If youre a videographer or cinematographer, this is the place to be! Microsearch has a beautiful selection of top-of-the-line equipment I didnt think could be found in stores (save for maybe the B&H superstore in NY). Shoulder rigs, on-camera batteries, DSLR lenses, CINEMA lenses, c-stands, tripods, audio, sliders, cables, rig accessories, and the list goes on...The atmosphere of the store is very welcoming and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The first time I went in was to try out the Canon cinema lenses on my Blackmagic 2.5K camera. Not only was I allowed to test the lenses, but Joseph even helped me strap up a simple rig with handles, a shoulder pad and a monitor so as to get a better feel for the weight of what I could be working with. LOVED the hands-on experience!5 out of 5 stars from me. Go check em out!

Beautiful store and tons of gear for all needs. However, the rental department is TERRIBLE. I attempted to rent some photography gear online, but their website was having issues. I thought, no problem--Ill just call them, make sure they have what I need in stock, and make the 1 hour drive to their store.First, I gave them a call and the guy I spoke to said that they had everything in stock. He put a order in for me and informed me to bring a card and not cash. I thought, of course--no rental store in their right mind would accept cash for rental equipment. Once I got there and filled out all of the rental account paperwork, the young man asked for a copy of my card and ID.I gave him my debit card and my ID. He then proceeds to tell me that they do not take debit cards and that he told me over the phone they do not. I explained to him that I never heard him say anything about not taking debit cards, only not taking cash. He then argues with me, insisting that he did, instead of apologizing for any miscommunication.I didnt have a credit card on me because I thought my debit card would be fine. Since it was now 1PM and they close at 3 on Saturday, I didnt have time to drive the 1 hour back home, pick up my card, and drive the 1 hour back to their store. So needless to say, if youre in a pickle for gear, make sure you bring a credit card (not a debit card) when trying to rent from this place.I desperately needed this gear for a big photo shoot, and this young mans lack of communication put in a serious bind. I will be taking my business elsewhere, as they just cost me a lot of time and money.

There is no way to describe the level of service at MicroSearch. TERRIBLE! And so are their pricing! If you are desperate and in dire need of camera or video gear, then yes, maybe its worth spending the extra cash. Otherwise you can get the same gear online for far less. Now a warning! Dont even ask for a discount on items that have been on their shelves for a long time. You will only be kicked out the store by Brad Bassett. This guy has some serious issues. I questioned him the pricing of a item and asked if he could offer a discount to a regular customer, especially since the item had been sitting on there shelves for months and is being sold on AMAZON for $80 less. He went on accusing Amazon and their sellers of bring small companies selling out of garages. How dare he!When I told him that sometime its best to take a small hit on old stock by getting rid of old stock, he basically stopped our conversation by tell me our conversation is over. I was shocked with that response. He could have simple said that I am more than welcome to buy it online, but MicroSearch is unable to sell it for less that what it was listed as. Instead, he began to say they I am being condescending. Why? Was this because he had no response to why they cannot do better at their prices, or offer some type of discount. He got really defensive why I asked why he wants to end our conversation. I at no time used any profane language, or raised my voice. Instead he then merely told me to leave the strore. What? Why? Because I challenged him on their pricing model? Is this guy for real? While he was getting in my face to, I guess, enforce intended exit, he blurted out at me that his equipment van had been stolen they day before, and that a close family member (I will refrain from saying who) was diagnosed with a sickness, so he does not want to deal with me. In response told him, that has nothing to do with me. All the while raised his voice at me and went on accusing me complaining to their clients about their pricing. Which was a lie. I had not spoken to anyone except, Gia.He also went on to say to my wife after she wanted to complain to Kan Yeung about his conduct, that I am not allowed to talk to any of the clients about pricing. I have no clue why this was said, but I dont care about their clients and never once spoke to any of their clients. This guy was clearly having a bad day, and I happen to be the sorry sod who happen to ask for a 10-20% discount on old stock, and got his butt kicked out the store instead. I only wished I had recorded the conversation, but my daughter was with me and had my hands full with her. Otherwise, the remaining staff are nice. Being that their are only two camera stores in the whole of Houston, this guy thinks he can control their prices because of demand. Well, I guess he can. So dont ever ask for a discount, or ask why you cant ask. You will get your butt kicked out the store.From here on out, I will rather buy my stuff from Amazon or BH. Thanks, Mr. Bassett. I will never support MicroSearch or IKAN ever again.

I dont know how to call a company that claims to offer equipment rental services and when I went to withdraw it, they make me wait more than 25 minutes without telling me reason and then when I claim that I cant wait any longer, because I have an event to go to, They tell me they will cancel the order because they dont have the equipment available! They didnt even say sorry or anything else! Really ??? I have rented a thousand times in Photo Rental Source and NEVER something similar happened to me! I would never recommend this store to a serious professional who needs reliable service!
