This is a decent small zoo. There is some construction going on so everything is not available. The restaurant was closed so food is available from a food truck with limited beverage selection. There is a soda machine nearby but its an older machine that only accepts cash - $4.50 for a soda...sigh.

Had a blast. Perfect little day outing for the family. Plenty of fun animals for kids to see... The moneys were HILARIOUS. They are so smart! Once a good crowd had gathered it was like they noticed us watching and put on a show. They started chasing each other and screeching really loud. They had the whole zoo chiming in. It was really cool, and the kids LOVED it! We were pleasantly surprised to see they even had a few giraffes and zebras! Such a blast.

We visited the zoo shortly after they opened for the day so some of the animals had yet to wake up. It was still a lovely visit. There was a wide collection of birds and reptiles, but not so much of some of the other animals. There’s a nice little gift shop, cafe for food and snacks and a park for picnics and just relaxing after looking around. Overall a good experience.

A great place I enjoy bringing the kids and family. Love seeing the animals in their environments. A fun family adventure.

Loved this zoo. Highly recommend getting a membership. Animal exhibits are not tiny. Seems to focus more on animal quality exhibits than cramming more animals into their space. Membership also gives you a discount at gift shop and food stands.

Interesting. Bigger then I thought. Fun gift shop. The animals where mostly sleeping when they opened. But still was nice to see some in action.

We had a delightful time at the Honolulu Zoo. 🦁We got there about by 2 and the gate attendant was extremely thoughtful and kind. 🦤The Zoo closes at 4 so they gave us two hours to explore which was enough time to see almost all the exhibits.They have many exotic animals 🐒 with beautiful bird aviaries 🦩 and lizard exhibits.🐊

This is a great little Zoo if your looking to due some non beach activities with the kiddos. The 5th star if pretty much because this is the 1st zoo Ive ever been to that doesnt smell like a zoo and its impressive.Theres plenty to look and see...the animals all seem to be very well cared for and a staff who loves what they do.Great little side adventure in Hawaii.

The nicest zoo I have ever been too. So many beautiful flowers and plants that it doesnt smell like a typical zoo. I also loved how close the animals are compared to any other I have been too.

Good place to bring the kids with plenty of shade if you need to sit for a bit. The zoo did appear a bit run down during my visit, but the staff is friendly and welcoming. There is a small snack vendor with burgers and such. I enjoyed a pineapple soft serve while cooling off under one of the many trees. I do recommend a visit if youre in the area.

Awesome zoo located in downtown Honolulu. Take your kids here. Even your reluctant tweens, and teenagers will enjoy their time here. The zoo has done a great job with managing traffic during the pandemic, making it less likely to have two way traffic on the paths.Lots of awesome animals who seem to be content with their living conditions.Plus, the dip-n-dot station is perfectly located to enjoy a cool treat in the middle of the zoo. There is a food truck and sitting area to eat food near the playground. There are pre-order QR codes around the zoo so you can order your food and then pick it up. Brilliant!

This zoo would be a great place to take kids. Most of the animals were out and visible. There is plenty of shade, as well as plenty of benches. It is kind of small, but considering its location, they do it well. Great place to take a break from the beach!

This is the first zoo Ive visited in many years. It is a pretty good zoo, but for whatever reason, there were many animals that were not present-- elephants, lions, tigers, and many more. The animals that were present seemed well cared for-- which is what you hope for. The zoo was also clean and well-maintained. Overall, we did enjoy our zoo visit today. ::-)

Best zoo experience ever! All the animals are active! The backdrop is amazing! Just take your time through it and enjoy.

Compared to the Los Angeles zoo, its absolutely AMAZING!! It was so much cheaper with a much better experience. I was glad we spontaneously decided to make visiting the zoo a part of our trip!

Wonderful well kept zoo, beautiful animals ❤ not very active at the time we were there but some were visible. Gift shop was reasonably priced and well organized. Staff was very friendly. Kiosk available to order food ahead of time and pick up. You can have a nice relaxing day here and yes they were playing some great music 🎶 upon our arrival so you can have a pretty awesome day here.

We spent some quality time with animals together! Don’t forget your masks by protecting animals! Ticket for local is eight bucks and nineteen for visitors, fair enough! I love elephants, lemurs, gibbons,giraffes, turtles, both animals with slo-mo or cheetahs the quick ones(didn’t see them btw🥺), this is my second time visiting this zoo and I enjoyed it, a lot of animals to see! Good for family with kids! Avoid noontime, too humid and hot🥵

My family enjoyed our visit to the Honolulu Zoo during our recent vacation. The grounds are well kept and the variety of animals was exciting. In a few exhibits they limit the number of groups that can view at one time, but we never had to wait too long. Would recommend a stop to anyone with kids!

It is a small zoo. But its a 5-minute walk from where I live here in Waikiki so I buy a Years subscription membership and about once a week I walk over there just to walk around and enjoy seeing some of the animals and the beautiful plants and trees. I cannot read it high because I have seen many of the Great zoos of the world and it cannot compare as a zoo but its a pleasant walk around and its right in the middle of waikiki.

Pretty much the only zoo on the island. Is located right in Waikiki so be prepared for a lot of tourists and hard to find parking, since many people use the zoos limited parking to just go to the beach/shopping instead of actually going to the zoo.The zoo its self is clean and seems pretty maintained. I was surprised at the range of animal life they have. Definitely a great place to bring your kids (or yourself) at least once!

The hubby and I enjoyed taking our time walking through the entire zoo. It was perfect for a winter day in Honolulu! With the breeze we stayed cool. There are a lot of shady spots, however, so walking in the middle of the day isnt horrible. I highly recommend bring your own food and having a picnic on one of the giant lawns. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to walk the entire place.

Very nice paved walk. Lots and lots of shade. Plenty of space and things for kids to run around. Slot of the animals hiding, maybe too hot.

I had an awesome experience with my family. The facility definitely tricked me. I believe the zoo was smaller than it was. I can appreciate this zoo better than most due to the climate. Outside of some animals appearing to be alone. We had a great time!

Beautiful zoo!! All of the animals were great. It was wheelchair accessible and everyone was very nice. Definitely one of my favorite zoos Ive ever been to. All of the exhibits were clean and well taken care of. The animals seem happy and beautifully cared for. The admission is cheap. They offer a military discount also.

Overall a decent place to visit. Got a family membership so we can visit anytime, plus you can skip the crazy long line for regular people and use the membership only line to get in. Park like setting to walk around. Disappointing you couldn’t see all the animals, a bit weren’t able to be viewed or weren’t in their enclosures, but that’s why we can come back again with our membership. Got burgers and fries for the family. They were ok, nothing awesome, held us over. The drink prices are downright ridiculous with a bottle of water being almost $5, so bring your own!

Neat zoo. Larger than I was expecting.There was a long line at the gate, but otherwise not too busy.

Fun place to take the family to learn all about nature and all the animals in them. Remember to wear shoes because it’s a bit of a trek, you’ll get your steps in for sure.

This is a great place for kids. It has a playground and a kids zoo. The animals are well kept and look very happy.

The zoo is amazing and seems to be well kept. There is a children’s playground area towards the exit, but be careful because the toys get pretty hot.

The unique animals and are worth seeing. We just personally dont like animals in captivity. Being on Hawaii we wanted ro see what it was all about. The birds are so beautiful and so many varieties. Kimono Dragon ..flamingos..Elks

This zoo is just ok. Its small which is no big deal but they charge 20 bucks to get in. Its only open for 5 hours and during that time a lot of the animals were sleeping. Also some of the areas look unkept. Could use a touch up. The elephants and giraffes were cool. Also the monkeys and different birds. All in all its good to go to if you are running out of things to do on vacation or have kids with you.

Great fun and experience learning about animals from all over the world. Go and see the lion area, the sun bears and the reptile tunnel. The zoo is awesome

Small quaint zoo. They have all the major animals you wanna see like giraffe, lion, rhino. Pretty hot in the afternoon.

This is a great zoo although it is fairly small. We were able to see a lot of animals here!

Blown away by this place! Didn’t expect it to be very big upon arrival but after 3 hours of exploring everything they had to offer, wow! They had so many different animals throughout the whole zoo. And much of it seemed so close and open when walking that you felt like you were taking a stroll through their natural habitats. There are plenty of areas with shade so that’s a plus, but bring water with you as it’ll be a long walk around. Will definitely go back again with other fam!

Bigger than I had expected from the outside. Variety of animals we saw was just okay, but the surrounding trees and flowers make it like a walk in the park. There are arrows and signs directing flow of traffic for Covid. Mask are required in some of the select, confined viewing areas.

They are a lot of animals from pink flamingos to elephants! This zoo has a beautiful garden and really worth visiting every corner of it! We loved our experience there and love seeing the animals they have.

It ok its a very small zoo love how tropical it look they practice safety keeping 6ft it was are last day in Hawaii walk to it from are hotel. We ate which you can order on your phone and set a pick up time they text us to let us know your order will be ready within 10 of the time you pick

The zoo was very nice and clean signs were everywhere to please wear masks and I appreciate it that the staff did a great job wearing masks too.the easy to navigate One Way road arrows really helped me take advantage of the whole zoo and see every exhibit with one pass. definitely would recommend if you love to see wildlife and are in the Honolulu area.

Most time you won’t see any animals than just empty containers

I want to start off my saying that the staff is 100% awesome. Then let’s talk about how clean and the laid out the Zoo was. I didn’t see one piece of trash or clutter. My wife and I have done dozens of Zoos all over the world and even though this one was small, we loved it. The laid out was perfect and had a nice flow. Now to the most important part the animals, they were out everywhere! I went in March and we saw everything. If you have time in Hawaii, go by this Zoo, it’s well worth the time and money!

Great zoo for the price and much bigger than expected! Coming from San Diego I was a bit worried it would be underwhelming but I was wrong, so many animals and the kids enjoyed it a lot! When we went in March they had arrows allowing us to only go in one direction which made the zoo with kids easy. A lot of the food places were closed so I would recommend packing a lunch or snacks and bring plenty of water because it gets hot. Great views of Diamond Head. There’s also a playground which was closed but looked like a lot of fun for the kids once it opens and would allow for a nice rest from all the walking. & there are wild peacocks which is a plus!

Nice zoo, lots of birds too look at as well as bigger animals. Looks like they are all well cared for.

The price and location are great but we were disappointed. We kept open minds knowing there would be fluctuations due to COVID restrictions that remain on the island...It is very limited. Many exhibits were empty, others the glass was so bad you couldnt enjoy what was behind it.Its convenient in location, if you want to show your support for thr zoo I am sure it will help them due to COVID... thats one reason we also went... support local Hawaii/Island businesses!

Perfect place for kids or for family outing. Ticket is bit expensive. Not good opportunities for photographers but for kids this place is awesome. Covid arrangement is good. They have different breeds of animals, african safari is good, birds cave is good and I do like the natural views. Hope we think about the animals in the zoo also but we cannot do anything on that

Truly appreciate and respect all the workers at the zoo. First time going to the zoo and I really enjoyed( my whole family did). Very organized and followed CDC guidelines. Gift shop, great customer service. Have to go and see for yourself to really see what it is about... psst really 💘 the 🐘.

There are some bigger animals, but a lot of them were either not in their pin or we couldnt see them as they were asleep or hiding. For the price of $20 I guess its not bad, but its not really something I would go back to.

Enjoyed the zoo! Elephants were not there. Employees were there to ensure people were maintaining 6ft between families which was good although it was full.

The Honolulu zoo is quite beautiful and open to tourists without requiring a reservation. Currently one gets to walk a loop and, while taking it, has the opportunity to observe beautiful animals. Due to tall trees and sail-like covers the walk offers lots of opportunities to take a break in the shade as well. My 11 year old daughter and I enjoyed it and the shave ice at the store close to the exit is delicious and less than $6 :)

Beautiful trees and plants throughout. I loved the giraffes and zebras. The tiger was cool too. A lot of animals were off exhibit when we were there so a bit of a letdown. Overall, a good zoo.

THE ZOO! In every town we go to we always try and visit THE ZOO! The Honolulu Zoo is right off strip and has pay public parking. $1.50 and hour is a deal and yes the cops come by and write tickets if you dont pay. Plus, its nice to see them to make sure your car is safe. The grounds at the Zoo are extremely lush and manicured. Heres hint though...take WATER as the snack kiosks are closed during COVID. However, the main snack bar and gift shop are open. The volunteers and workers are friendly and helpful through out your visit. Its a quint Zoo with lots of space and if you go at the right time all the animals are out.

Great little zoo. Has everything a large zoo has, just on a smaller scale. Great way to spend 2-3 hrs.

Zoo is a little bigger than it looks. Lots of birds. Some animals where not there which sucked. Cool for kids or something to just waste time.

They are pandemic ready. The number of folks mulling about was minimal. The exhibits were not crowded. There are sanitizer locations. The zoo was very clean. The staff were welcoming. The foliage was both exotic and complimentary. The signage was informative. The variety of animals was what one should expect in a small zoo. I loved the open space for the little ones to frolick. My little one loved the giraffes, ducks and wild birds dancing along the walkway.

Nice place to spend a few hours enjoying the animals, scenery & fresh air and the beach is just across the street & affordable..

Absolutely love this little zoo. Its not overwhelming for my small kids and the employees are so awesome. Kale lets us know he was going to feed the Komodo dragons, so we got to watch that. And another employee came and got us to let us know she was going to feed the hippo! So much fun!!

We love the Honolulu Zoo! An oasis within the city! Bring water and an umbrella for shade because it was pretty hot. And pack some snacks or a picnic lunch. There are some nice shady open spaces for that. Its a great place for kids and not expensive. 👍🏼

Exhibits are just like any other zoo, you never know if the animals will be awake or not. Always nice to see them up and about!! 3 starring because I called in advance because their system wouldnt let me purchase a yearly membership online. Yet they have no way to let you purchase one at the gate even though on phone they said they did.

What beautiful, well kept zoo. The staff members are very friendly. We felt very safe with all of the social distancing measures that are in place. You must wear a mask throughout the zoo with the exception of when eating at the eatery. They have hand sanitizing stations throughout the zoo.

Beautiful zoo with many rest areas. Try to go on a cooler day since the animals (like people) will relax unseen in the shade. Staff is super nice and I enjoyed myself. The animal diversity is also great and there is a lot of information on wildlife conversation and if the species are threatened, endangered, etc. All in all, highly recommend.

Some great animals but wow so they make it hard to view them! Very very small viewing areas and the enclosures are designed so theyll mostly be out of view. Nice park inside.

This was so cool. We came from California and the baby loved it. Lots of animals the food truck was great! It was a very nice experience.

The zoo was a pleasant surprise. There was shade on the walkways and arrows on the ground to point you in the direction to walk. The animals were active in their cages during the afternoon. The zoo was clean and the patrons respected the distance rules.Many people, as well as children wore masks. Only wish it was easier to see through glass where reptiles were kept.

Even during this Covid19 pandemic . they zoo was Awesome. The layout was enchanting and the animals were the ultimate host to the beautiful backdrop that is Honolulu, Hawaii.
