Great neighbourhood spot. The store is well organized and clean, employees are helpful. They not only carry standard hardware store items, but home decor and organizational items as well. I’m disappointed (in myself) that I didn’t come here and instead bounced between the big box stores looking for basic house goods (brooms, cleaning supplies, welcome mat, etc.) as they have it all, and at decent prices too.A large selection of SimpleHuman items priced the same (or just $1 more) than Amazon. Over the door hangers, waste bins, soap pumps, and every oxo brand kitchen item. In addition, they also carry furniture at very affordable prices.Their garden center was well stocked. I picked up perlite, peat and sphagnum mix, seed starter kit, and a few misc seed packets. As others have mentioned, if you want something in particular, you can call ahead.Highly recommend if you’re new to the neighbourhood and need to stock up without dealing with the bustle around Ala Moana. They dont have much, an employee who was in the paint section, WOULDNT HELP ME FIND SOMETHING! He said, let me find someone. ARE YOU KIDDING?! When I worked at a Hardware store, I knew where EVERYTHING was! So even if I couldnt/wouldnt/ didnt feel like leaving my area, I could AT LEAST point the way! UNPROFESSIONAL!

I love that City Mill is a locally owned business and I would much rather support them than Home Depot or Lowe’s, the only problem is their limited selection on certain items. You can always call ahead before heading over to make sure they have something in stock and if they do you can guarantee you’ll pay less for it than at either HD or Lowe’s.The staff is knowledgeable and helpful and returns are easy.

The guys a City Mill saved me today !!! They were really friendly and helpful. I had no real clue how to fix the clogged pipes from under my sink, but when the guys from plumbing saw the part I bought in they gave me an excellent alternative. I did exactly as they told me every thing went back together perfectly with no leaks so far !!! Thanks you guys !!!

City Mill is my first stop for hardware needs because its in my neighborhood and I like to support local business. I have found their team to be really helpful over the past several years with all my home improvement and art projects, whether it was cutting concrete backer board, or pieces or wood, or helping me select the best smoke alarm or fasteners that will do what I need them to do. I dont agree with another guys review, since Ive returned a number of items and never had a problem. I do agree that some of the selection is limited, but Im beginning to understand that this is true for all of the hardware stores in Hawaii. But they have a fair amount of power tools, home cleaners, light bulbs and fasteners. They recently started stocking a larger selection of pre-cut plywood and melamine boards. I think they also offer a wider selection of Dremel bits than Home Depot does. So, it just depends what youre looking for. I think the part I like best is how the other customers are also so helpful in figuring out what I need to get my latest project done.

Great service! Called and spoke with Jamie and she was very helpful and called me back multiple times to make sure I had the information I needed.

We came in about 2 weeks ago to get some things to fill our planter box: potting mix, top soil, and some small plants to get it started. We had already grown other small plants from supplies from different locations. However within the last few days, we started seeing some small bugs crawling all throughout the top soil in the planter box. They are APHIDS. Before getting the supplies from city mill our other plants we had were perfectly fine. Now the aphids from the top soil have started to affect the new plants and old plants we had. BEWARE people, the soil they have there may seem normal, but contains little critters that ruin all your hard work and time put in.

Ive been here for a long time and never questioned the quality of their products but last week is a different story. I noticed that new tools equipment are cheaply designed and made in China. I am deeply concerned about this matter and have to double check every item before buying them just make sure I bought quality products.

Went to return an item at the Kaimuki City Mill. Brandon, a cashier, was very helpful and even wrote my name correctly without my having to spell it out for him! I had no problem making the return. After browsing throughout the entire store, I found some things I needed, and when I went to pay for them, Brandon remembered me and thanked me by name. Good memory and excellent customer service!

Nice little hardware store here in the Islands. Not going to challenge Lowes or Home Depot head-to-head but thats not their aim. They are more your friendly neighborhood store with decent prices that saves you the hassle of going to the big box stores. Id rather take my chances and drive to the Kaimuki City Mill first to see if they have what I need and then only end up going to HD/Lowes if Im forced to.

It really is true that they help you with questions and that they are knowledgeable. I was standing in front of a selection of at least 20 different toilet seats and had no idea if there were differences between them when I was helped by a very pleasant employee. If not for him, Id still be standing there. Easy parking at this location.

The products were moderately pricey but the store is at a convenient location. A plump man in his 50s was was very rude and practically yelling at me very grumpily probably because unknown to me at the time was getting off his shift and had to help me find a drill driver; it was very unprofessional of him. I think I will take the extra five minutes driving to Home Depot or Lowes next time.

Best prices I found on the items I have needed ranging from kerosene to area rugs. It has become my go to hardware store because they are the only store Ive found in Honolulu that will cut keys / copy keys by hand. Other places use a computer which limits them to making only the keys in their computers data base.

Locally owned Hardware Store. Not as big as Home Depot or Lowes, but for your home projects they probably have what you need. Prices are online with the bigger stores, Helpful staff.

Local hardware store that is smaller than the big box stores but loaded with almost anything a home owner would need or want. Employees are easier to find and are very knowledgeable and helpful. It may cost a little more but well worth the visit. Local company, local employees, keeping it local.

City Mill is our neighborhood hardware store. I like to shop here because it is more convenient than Home Depot and Lowes. You would think the big box store has everything. Here are a couple things that City Mill has and they dont.1. Old style jalousie window tracks and glass assembly2. Old style jalousie window hardware replacement parts3. Old style 2 bulb light fixture with a curved rectangle glass cover.

Service is not customer service oriented and returns policy they give hassles also, over price on cheap quality I rather go to Homdepo or Lowe’s .

Location plays a factor in the rating and they do have some knowledgable sales people. Be wary who you ask for advice. Also, be wary who your cashier is, they charge for shopping bags like other stores so if you buy many small items and no bag be prepared and pay attention to the charge card machine, a cashier got impatient when I did not press the screen as fast as he wanted. Big guy too! Uncomfortable to say the least.

5min walk from my house, so is the most convenient place for hardware. Reasonably priced and good selection and quality of products and amazing service.

This is like a combination of Harbor Freight and Ace Hardware. They have a decent selection of tools, materials, furniture, and items of need. Not all the cashiers were good at customer service, and a couple were rude but for the most part I got what I needed.

City Mill had just what I was searching for. With 12 customers ahead of me it wasAmazing to see the 4th cashier snap into action

There was a lady practically yelling for help in a specific area. A service person answered there should be someone there. If youre yelling for help in a certain section, that means nobody is there to help.

Horrible customer service from Not the associate who answered the answer the phone who tried to help, but didnt know what I was describing so referred me to CURTIS a MANAGER who said hi, this is Curtis WE DONT HAVE THAT ITEM! I tried to explain, and said its like a.... Trying to describe it to him instead interuppted by an aggravated voiceWE DONT CARRY IT NOTHING LIKE IT I expected help, but instead I guess he could read my mind and knew what I was looking for!!
