Thanks to the whole staff who gave me a chance to be a professional.
My hairstylist Mr. Ssoonie is the best! I been going to him for the past year for haircuts, frizzy style perms and hair coloring. He gives really good suggestions on the proper hair style based on your features and looks and always make you look great. I highly recommend him if your looking for a great hair stylist!!!
They washed my hair before bleaching it and left for lunch while the bleach was in over processing it so bad and I feel like they did it on purpose. Go anywhere but here. They next few stylists that saw the damage said it hurt their heart because they could tell my hair is easy to process and there was no need to damage my hair.
My experience here was AWFUL! (I have black hair) and the students had no idea what they were doing!! She used so much shampoo and dried out my hair and proceeded to blow dry it as she combed it out!!!!!! I was disgusted! My hair looked terrible and I had to immediately go home and fix it! As she was doing my hair another student kept coming over and looking. The person doing my hair kept asking her “am I doing it right” and the other lady said “yeah I know someone who’s black”. Are you kidding me?! Do not touch my head unless you know what the hell you are doing. They put no moisturizing product in my hair or anything! My sister was with me and her hair looked terrible as well. She was supposed to get a trim but knowing how clueless they were she didn’t let them cut a thing! I am seriously appalled that even the advisor said not only nothing but that it was good. Teach your students how to do black hair! If you don’t know, don’t do it! Would you do surgery if you didn’t know how? NO! The same applies to my hair that I have spent YEARS nourishing and taking care of. To have some idiot ruin it. I will NEVER go back. If you have black hair I suggest you don’t too.
I have been coming down to Paul Mitchell the School for over a year now, and I love that I am helping future professionals in their journey! The staff/students are always polite and so eager to make you look your best. I have never had any problems with a bad haircut or color, and I love the treatment I receive...every time! Understand that they are students and will leave eventually, but they always pass you onto someone they would trust. Today was my first time with Emily and she was very attentive and thorough. I recommend The Paul Mitchell School to anyone and the pricing is great too!!
Ive been coming here to the school for the past 4 years to get my hair highlighted and trimmed. Todays experience was by far the best! My stylist today was Shane and he made pleasant conversation with me but also let me read my book as well (a huge plus for me!) The massages that they do during a wash are phenomenal and once again, Shane was the best! At the end they always give you a Take Home list of products they used on your hair and they also tell you during the session what they are using and what it is for. I get plenty of compliments on my hair and I love to tell them I only had to spend about 35-45 at Paul Mitchell the School! I will definitely keep coming here!
Alexis Peru gave my mom special care and attention for her services today. Alexis is very professional & listens to what you want done & does it great. Thank you Alexis for being a 5 star stylist.I recommend going to Paul Mitchell & using their products. The Mirror Smooth condition treatment & products are the best.It was a mommy & me experience day. This was a first for mom. She really enjoyed all of her services so much we added a manicure. Both hair stylists were so informative & gave excellent service.
Been coming here for years now. Changed stylists numerous times to just try a new style. The location is perfect for people who live in town. Just remember to book a appointment a week in advance. This place gets busy as it is really popular. They market as a school but the stylist are very professional.Today my stylist is Emily, she is very tentative and a good listener. Very passionate about hair.
I love this place! Ive booked the phase 2 haircut (only $15!) many times, and I am always very happy with my experience. The scalp massage (not entirely sure it was 5 minutes, but I didnt ask) was wonderful! The hair cut was what I want (long layers, side bangs), and it didnt take too long, though most times, students were going to graduate within the week that I visited, so they may have been more advanced than other phase 2 students. I love that theyre open Saturdays, so its relatively easy to schedule. I also really enjoy the scalp treatments - such a luxury, yet the price is a steal!
The girls are very gracious & the teachers are GREAT. They oversee everything.. Cant beat the price.. but I have been trying ALL morning, trying to make appointment, left several messages to call me back, but nobody has. They dont answer the phone. I would love to be able to get through as I know they book up quickly, but when you cant get thru... Sigh!
I ended up here because my hairdresser was off the island for a month. Now, let me say this: TEACH YOUR STUDENTS ON HOW TO MANAGE ETHNIC (BLACK) HAIR! My experience wasn’t so good, I had a lot of patience mainly because cutting my hair was not included in my scheduled service and I understood it’s a learning environment...BUT to not know the basics of managing ethnic hair is atrocious! I think it’s important for hairstylists to know ALL hair types, especially today in 2019! Being that I made my appointment a week earlier, a true student would have researched to the T her upcoming task/client’s needs. You become well rounded in your craft! Understand the process of applying a relaxer, detangling the hair before you commence to blow-drying it and lastly, make your client feel comfortable by striking up a conversation! Nothing more awkward than someone doing your hair and their customer service skills are non-existent! You’re not doing a mannequin’s hair, it’s okay to speak, that’s how you build clientele TBH, it’s your rapport! This business of hair and beauty is SATURATED with too many ‘stylist’ but only the diverse and skillful ones survive and actually make a great living doing what they love and it shows!
I wanted to get an new look and I was pleasantly rewarded with a shorter bob. I appreciated Emilys professionalism and her ability to make me feel comfortable and confidant with making a new change to my look. I felt comfortable trusting her judgment as far as cut length and style. I will definitely be back for future haircuts and to experience the other services they have here. :-)
$10 for best student haircut i have ever had in Hawaii. They shampoo me twice. before and after cut!! they also offer u water. nice touches. I think Wednesday are still MENS DAY. 50% OFF for men. i paid $5.25 or so for haircut, 2 shampoos and styling!!!gotta make an appointment. i have had to book a couple days in advance so they can get booked up.
Lana gave me an awesome haircut last week. She took her time to really listen to what I wanted. My hair is not easy to cut because it has multiple textures. The 10$ haircut turned out better than expensive hair cuts Ive had at nice salons. She was also super nice. Thanks Lana!
Before I came here I had only gotten highlights once and had a terrible experience so I was very nervous to try again. From the second I walked in and was greeted, my worries went away. Amazing customer service and great atmosphere! My stylist was super friendly, made sure I was comfortable and not waiting long, and continuously offered me water or whatever I needed. I got partial highlights and it took a little longer than I expected but I’m super happy with how it turned out and I have zero complaints about my first time experience! I will definitely be coming back in the future. :)
Jayste is the best with hair color. I always have a pleasant experience with her and her customer service is excellent.
They did an awesome job with my hair. They know ways to fix worst hair color failures. I had two unsuccessful attempts of hair coloring. They restored my hair color. They will give you an advice and help you whats best for you..😆🙏😆😉
Ashley Spaulding is the most caring future professional! Throughout my entire facial she made sure I was comfortable and her techniques were fabulous! When dying my hair an entirely different color, she was careful, taking pride to not damage my hair and made me confident with my new color. Thanks so much for such wonderful service!
Went in first time with a little doubt, but I came out feeling like a champ! Best experience I had. Service was awesome, people was nice and I already made my next appointment in 3 weeks. Mahalo gang! See u guys in 3 weeks!
I always loved coming to this location to get my hair done for cheap. Sometimes I left with something I did not ask for but the supervisor made sure to always fix my hair before I left. It was always in fun and when youre in your early twenties, it doesnt really matter. I always had fun haircuts because of this Paul Mitchell School. I miss it very much.
Emily was very friendly, kind and helpful. She was very understanding and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. The best hair cut I ever got. I would definitely recommend her to cut your hair and I definitely recommend this place. ☺
This was definitely the worst experience I have had getting a haircut done by a student.1. We talked about cutting split and dry ends which we agreed to 1-2 inches tops. It was even confirmed by one of the teachers. She ended up cutting more than 3-4 inches even though I checked in with her of how much she cuts off.2. Also simple haircut took her 3 hours! Which was really irritating at some point. I understand its a school and such, but seriously 3 hours for a simple split ends cut?On the other hand - haircut is done great, no complaining about that (the issue is length) But students need to listen to their customers.Overall experience: will NOT go back.
MOST Students have THE Positive Energy, PASSION, Ambitions & Enthusiasm + CONFIDENCE to Be THE Best, TO EXCEL & to eventually Strike Out BRILLIANTLY : THEREFORE, they work and Serve METICULOUSLY carefully, Mindful and THOUGHTFUL -- EVEN the Instructors ; MOREOVER, its VERY CLEAN 😍
This was my first experience having a basic manicure/pedicure done by students . Your student Andrea was assigned to do both and she did a great job.i was impressed with your friendly staff who efficiently processed the required incoming and outgoing business.
I enjoyed my time here at Paul Mitchell School! My hair stylist, Nyemma was very sweet, paid attention to detail, was friendly and personable. The prices cant be beat and the vibe (and music) are great!
I had a great shampoo, blow dry, style here.l
CC is an advanced student and does a great job on my hair coloring. $42 is a great price.
Destany Walker was intent on making sure I was happy... she did a wonderful job on highlighting my very short hair, and then cutting/styling it in a trendy way!The staff is friendly and caring.
Just make sure when you’re booking to a phase 2 student to confirm with the front desk that you would like an upper level student. It’s a way to overcharge and they will see if they can get away with giving you a lower level student.
Great experience for both my Mom and me! Mom got a nice bouncy do by Emily! And I had a fab color done by Channel. Both were so nice also!
I absolutely love this school. I have never walked away feeling unhappy with the service that was given. I will always come to this place and recommend it to anyone who wants their hair done!
100% AMAZING SERVICE!!! I have been looking at multiple different hair salons and barbers looking for a nice professional mens cut, AND FINALLY FOUND IT HERE! My stylist listened to every suggestion i said and walked me through what she was doing every step of the way. As well as giving me advice on how to style the new cut. Absolutely love this place and would recomend to anyone who wants to walk around with confidence in your looks 😘 10/10 recommended.
Great experience! Destany Walker was really nice & very experienced. Love color & cut and 1/2 price of hair salon.
They rock because they really take the time to make sure the color cut and style suites each individual the best! So Im rockin my new color and I love it!
First time in town and first time hair cut at Honolulu. Its been a great experience. Great job they did!
Rating for salon: 5Rating for the girl who cut my hair: 3I dont remember her name, only what she looked like but she did a pretty bad job on my hair. I asked for face framing bangs and she didnt frame my face at all but gave me more bangs going across. Not only did she cut my bangs shorter unncessarily, she cut my bangs extremely crooked. My layers were choppy and blunt. I didnt expect her to take two hours doing something so simple, even if she is a student. She looked really lost while cutting my hair so the only thing I wish happened was if the teaching professional came over to see how she was doing and was more strict with her.The salon, however, is great at being professional and will continue supporting the cause. Hopefully I dont get the same person again until she learns more haircutting techniques.
Had a facial by Anela today! Her techniques are wonderful and since my last facial with her 2 months ago, she has improved so much! She has incorporated more massage technique that added to the experience. Booked my next facial and planning on gifting her services to others before she graduates in September!
I had excellent experience having both pedicure and manicure. I loved french manicure very much!! Thank you!
Derik is a total creep. He made inappropriate comments, gave a hug instead of a handshake without even asking, and was flirting in a VERY invasive and uncomfortable way throughout the haircut, asking very intimate personal questions. It was completely inappropriate and scary, an awful experience.
This is my first time there for a hair cut and they did a great job
Being a student once, I tend to support students, especially in hands-on training for their future career. I was impressed by these students’ organizational skills from the minute I walked in. It was very crowded, but I was promptly greeted and met a “Future Professional” soon after. Since I have thick hair and wanted a full highlight, I was told that it would take about 2 hours, but was actually there for 4.5+ hours. I saw a joint effort of teamwork and willingness to help each other reach their goal. However, I was disappointed at one of the instructor’s attitude. She, Ms. Monina as the students called her, came to me when the student went to get supplies, touched my hair without introducing herself. Until the student returned and Monina started giving instructions, I realized who she was. As time went by, the student asked her questions, but she just replied vaguely, without really answered the questions. What made me question her professionalism was when she dropped one of the latex gloves on the floor, a student help her pick it up. Without getting a new one, she fumbled to put the “dirty” glove from the floor on her hand, then dropped it again. This time, she instructed another student to pick it up, made a joke about it, put it on her hand, and touched my hair. I was in shock! She was for real or what?! When the student repeatedly told her that she needed help to finish my hair, Monina said that she’d highlight the back of my head, but never followed through. She set a goal for the student to finish in 2.5 hours, but didn’t keep her abreast with the guideline. The student had to ask another fellow to help her. Then, 30 minutes before closing time, two more students jumped in the rescue; however, it was not enough time. The student had to tone and wash my hair before the color soaked through. In other words, the time and efforts these students put foils on the back of my head at the last hour were not productive. Finally, another instructor together with 2 more students rushed in to finish up while Monina was nowhere to be found. After 4.5 hours, I left with a mishmash highlight in 3 different styles. I understood the settings was intended for students to practice and offered the community services at a discounted rate; therefore, I didn’t expect much. Had the instructor paid more attention and guided her students along the way, the outcome would have been more satisfactory. I witnessed the students working very hard, yet helplessly grumbling about this instructor among themselves. Sad to say, but Monina’s attitude not only reflects her own professionalism, but also the school’s reputation and code of ethics. Perhaps, the teacher just had a rough day. But, whatever the case it might have been, hopefully the school has a standard operating procedure and takes feedback/reviews from students as well as customers seriously.
I really enjoyed going to Paul Mitchell School they do excellent work and the students are very caring and do a professional job. I highly recommend this school. My stylist Kamun did an excellent job. Mahalo Roberta Goodman

Awesome, Affordable, Carefully Executed Haircuts!Takes a bit longer than normal (>1hr) but its worth the wait!!
I just colored my hair w/Amy Morgan and she did an exceptional job. She is conscientious in every detail, great attitude, would recommend her highly!also want to thank Joy Shimizu the instructor who formulated my color. Very perfessional, knowledgeable, and awesome person. Amy recommended Awapuhi Wild ginger mirror smooth, shampoo, conditioner, & high gloss primer; smell great, feels so soft and incredible shine! Would highly recommend this school and their services.
Destiny was awesome. Professional, took time to get important infomation, great services, nice atmosphere, and excellent products.

Amazing I have never looked so fabulous in my life!! Trishia was Fantastic
Will NEVER return here!! They refused service to me because I had my kids with me!! No babysitter, just trying to get my nails done before i went on vacation!! Never had I been refused a manicure or pedicure cause I have kids!! Bought a Groupon voucher and it didnt say no kids allowed!! Go to hell Paul Mitchell School for discriminating against mothers!!
PMTS Honolulu is amazing! Ask for me for all of your beauty needs! I graduate July 11th so come see me ASAP!
I have been going there for years and absolutely love it...always great service at a great price
I have been to Paul Michelle Honolulu many years. I like their products. Especially Gigi ! Thanks for her excellent service.
Future Professional, Hiilei Coelho is 5-Star all the way. If your treatment requires a hair wash, inquire before hand if hot water is available.
Wish I would give negative stars but had to mark 1 minimal so that I could write a review. I have had nothing but bad experience with my daughter stepping foot into this schools doors. We wished we never heard of them and constantly get the run around and indirect answers. When talking to one you get pushed off onto someone else. No one wants to own up to what is taking place and how they are ripping people off. They charge you for kits and supplies when leaving the school or being terminated for their own reasons and then bill you for things they never gave you or did for you. Who knows how long they have been doing this for or to how many people. Just beware when attending this school that if you are dropped, terminated or leave early no matter the reason you will be billed for more than what you should be billed for!!! Dont say I didnt warn you!!! Also they do discriminate no matter what they may say. The kits are very over priced for the poor quality material they use. They fall apart within days from receiving them no matter how careful you are with them. They probably get them from a third world control and then tack on a 400% price increase. The staff there lie and tell you what you want to hear until they get what they want and then bam no longer communicate with you. They do not follow their own policy & procedures themselves!!! Just beware if you want to attend here or your child does, think twice no make that think 3 times before even stepping foot onto their campus. If they dont like or care for you they will make you feel welcome and that they are a great program and school and everything you want to hear and then bam take you for what they can and act like you were the problem and not fit for their program. All along that was always the plan. Very bad business practices and customer service!!!
Lynn and Joy Shimabuku (instructor) did a great job on my hair cut today (5-1-15). I cant wait to get my final haircut before I move back home to Maui. I hope my girlfriend and I enjoy the pedicure I scheduled as well. Hi Ranel, Muyan, Kim, Sierra and the rest of the crew! Study hard!
Always love going here for the best deals in town, and for a great haircut and head massage.
Jesa and Morgan are Fabulous. I dont go anywhere else to get my hair done !! :-)
I enjoyed the idea of getting my updo done at the Paul Mitchell School. I loved that Lianne Teramoto was able to visualize and create what I was looking for. Thank you Lianne!!! She was professional, personable and sweet. Aloha spirit. She was the great part of the appt. Unfortunately, I did initially start with a student that wasnt very familiar with updos or very comfortable with trying and seemed to be waiting for Lianne to come back from lunch. The other student curled my hair in multiple directions and accidentally burned my ear. Nice enough, but wouldnt feel comfortable asking the other student to do my hair again. Another downside was that it took nearly 2.5 hours to complete... the first 45mins-1hr were just a section of partial curls. :( Thank you Lianne for making me feel better and happy with my hair. Youll go far! Aloha!
Love coming here to get dolled up and refresh my style. Came in a week ago to get a red split dye done and had the pleasure of being worked on by Lizzie. She made sure to give me the perfect dark shade of red that I wamted. Today, Chelsea gave me super cute finger waves and refreshed my red split dye hair. Also, thanku Destany for helping style my hair. Then I got dolled up in black and gold with Kamus makeup skills ^-^ thankus for spoiling me.def gonna keep coming here. Shout out to the phase 2 crew for always making me look lovely.
Nyemma was very good and professional. I recommend her.
The school is a 13 month program and it was been one of the most intense but yet greatest learning experiences of my life. Im a Future Professional and have been attending since September 2012, and I graduate in January 2014. Obviously I have been in school for over a 13 month period, but thats because Ive made a few discoveries along the way. Coming to school on time is a HUGE thing when it comes to graduating on time, each day you miss pushes your date back. Also keeping up your motivation, there will be times where you will want to cruz or take it easy, but thats what the weekends are for; not skipping school or slacking off when you do show up. I know both of those things were a HUGE challenge for me before I got my things together. You also have 6 write-ups you can get before the school terminates you. It was after my 5th write up and getting suspended is when I realized that I cant quit at my dream. Thats when I decided to make a change and come to school every single day, get all my test grades up, and even apply for Phase 2 and to become a Core Mentor. As I progressed, I also began to get involved in more school activities which gave me the opportunity to get made name out more and meet new people. Getting involved in activities are probably one of the top best things you can do while your at this school; TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM! (they look good on your resume) Overall, I learned a lot about myself as a person, I grew into the hairstylist I always wanted to be and after I graduate I will strive to become more, but I also learned a lot, technical skill wise. So if anyone wants to come to Paul Mitchell I definitely encourage it!
My wife always goes there and the staff is awesome😎😎

By far the best haircut!! Loved it!
My phones calls have not been returned.
4 stars for students - 0 stars for the manager. I dont remember her name, but she is very unprofessional. Bad results - bad service.
Totally amazing to be as part of Paul Mitchell the School Honolulu family.
Awesome service, great personality!
