I like the coffee and they have a good vibe but they are super SLOW. NEVER USE THE DRIVE THROUGH! You will be idling for half an hour easy. Don’t blame the pandemic they have always been stupid slow. They must roast the beans fresh for each drink, I can’t think of another reason for there glacial slowness. Plan for a solid 15-20min to get your drink if there is anyone in line.
Insomnia Coffee is quickly becoming my favorite coffee place. Everything about the quality of the service and coffee is amazing. The cafe area is decorated well and is very cozy with warm lighting. The best part that keeps me coming back however are the interesting flavored drip coffee brews and the great prices!
We buy a couple bag of beans every other week. Coffee and breakfast date every other week at our favorite coffee spot, perfect! 🥰
Delightful, professional, kind staff accompanied by delish coffees and sumptuous scones and breakfast foods. Highly recommended!
Such a cute place and so close to my house. I’ll definitely be back. The coffee was delicious and the staff was super courteous and helpful.
Solid coffee shop with good selection of drinks and a few baked goods. Interior has some cozy nooks to sit throughout that are well spaced for social distancing.
My favorite of the insomnia locations. They’re friendly and faster than the other locations. They have great coffee too. They’ve got a lot of milk alternatives for those who can’t or don’t want to have dairy.
Clean and cozy atmosphere. Really pleasant staff! Love that the bathroom has tampons/pads, that is a really human and honest touch.
Ive been coming here every other weekend to the Murrayhill store for a while. The coffee is pretty good, and they had oat milk sooner than a lot of other places. But I have to admit, the service is often poor: usually slow and sometimes rude.I was raised to say please and thank you. With those habits of courtesy, come some expectations. This is one of those places that doesnt meet those. Ive come to expect--as it happens a lot--that I will be treated with less kindness and patience while ordering than others. I realize I am a little older; its hard to hear someone when they are masked. No reason to roll your eyes when I dont understand. And when you forget my muffin with my coffee, its not that big of a deal. No reason to be defensive. Maybe a slight bit of a reason to be apologetic. Especially when I had to ask for it for a third time, after which point the coffee was cold. I wonder if the primarily single-demographic staff know how unwelcome they make an older customer feel.
I had a Black Forest mocha and my friend had Aztec mocha. We loved the coffee. Bagel was also good. Definitely a place to visit, when your near by.
Excellent relaxing place to meet with family and friends for coffee and baked goods. The staff is wonderful.
Look, I love insomnia coffee and they have friendly service, but having to sit in the drive through for over 25 minutes with only 3 cars ahead of you is just silly. I came on my hour lunch and wasted half of it and and the gas in my car.
Would love to spend a lifetime here! :-) The place is so cozy and pleasant, you could just spend hours here chit chatting, sketching, browsing, reading or even studying. My husband and I spent more than two hours just whiling away time, like there is no tomorrow. The live music was soft and soothing, and my husband actually started dozing off after a mentally taxing week!
One of my favorite coffee places. 4 stars for atmosphere, food and most drinks. -1 for the plain black Americano. It always seems to taste burnt unfortunately.
Great coffee service pastry selection and good seating inside and outside.
Good coffee, abundant seating, laid-back atmosphere. Its kind of like I imagine Starbucks would be if it had a soul.
Great coffee chain. This location has a drive thru as well, so its convenient if I want to grab coffee on my way somewhere.
Drinks are usually on point, staff is friendly, service is a little bit on the slower side but you cant rush a good espresso. I wish i could score as 4.5 because as much as I love most of their drinks, they dont make my bone dry cappuccinos right...which is weird bc the Tanasbourne location does.
My dad always brings me quiche from this place every Monday before I start school. Honestly the best breakfast ever. My dad loves the coffee too!
I used to always go here for studying. Although, due to covid the seating is limited to the outdoor seats. Ive always enjoyed their staff, great Aztec Mocha and music. Get a good coffee here for now, but when this pandemic is over come here for study vibes too.
The pastries here are amazing! Especially the honey biscuits!
I had a very nice iced Americano and a pretty good lemon scone. Currently the indoor seating is very limited but there were a bunch of tables outside.
The coffee is still great. The service at the drive thru is ridiculously slow. The girl girl boy boy stood there waiting for drink to be made and then disappeared when it was ready for some reason. The early close covid hours are extremely outdated at this point but its Oregon so you know covid strikes at night.
Insomnia -- I wish I had opportunity to visit more often. Every experience is a pleasure from the product to the service to the atmosphere. Looking for a fav coffee hangout? This is the place!
Order a black coffee here and tell me this place is good. Sure they can camouflage any substandard brew with chocolate, milk, or cream, but their dark roast tastes like scorched popcorn. The medium roast wasnt much better. They dont even have the right settings on their machine, the temperature was way too hot, so no wonder why their cheap beans tasted worse than tobacco leaves. Save $3 by not getting pretentious, fake coffee, and go to any diner in America for better coffee.
I dont drink coffee, but I buy coffee for others and they are always friendly and the place has a bit of a hippie vibe.
Always fantastic service and fantastic coffee from Insomnia!
DO NOT USE DRIVE THRU!!!! 30 minutes in line and I still have not ordered
Never disappoint with the taste of there coffee. I usually get the Carmel latte and it never tastes burnt. Seating is limited sometimes so I have had strangers sit at my table because its so crowded. The atmosphere is relaxed so it didnt feel akward with them sitting at my table at all. Some more electrical outlets for charging computers would be an awesome addition though.
Always great service and the coffee is never bitter. Updated review! Had a long, drawn out day with my special needs dog. Waited for hours to be seen at the vets, then my battery died & had to wait for a jump 🥺 so I treated myself to a coffee... The employee at the window asked about my day, I shared my woes... and she gifted me my drink. What? Wow...
Great Coffee, slow drive through. Make no mistake, the coffee makes it worth the wait
Use to be my favorite coffee house but they seem to have lost their edge since the coronovirus shutdown happened but that goes for many places. The staff is still very friendly.
Very friendly staff and delicious drinks (the chai is so good) but make sure you arent in a hurry as they take a bit longer than other coffee places.
Nice, comfortable, warm friendly staff, very courteous. Vintage setting great place, peaceful... better than SB.
Friendly servers, unique atmosphere inside.
Definitely good coffee better than Starbucks, but whats even better is there nice biscuit sausage croissant with cheese is the best... My recommendation you got to try it...
Great coffee and welcoming staff. Although double check your drink afterwards, they often make mistakes with their orders.
🌺This is a love story by me:😍Hemp. Milk. Chai.😍The End😁
Enjoy the coffee here and the fact they have a variety of non-dairy milks to choose from. They are one of the few places I found that have hemp milk. Enjoyed the Aztec Mocha recently and it was not too sweet: just right. If you like it less busy and quieter, I suggest stopping by in the early morning if you can.
Drive through a bit slow but beverages are worth waiting for.
Good coffee and a good neighborhood ambience!
Cool,eclectic, great coffee, nice people!
I like the black forest coffee here
This is our coffee shop when I for whatever reason we cant make our cappuccinos at home. A little sad right to visit right now with the eclectic second hand furniture piled up in the center of the room but hopefully back to normal soon.
This is a great little coffee shop. Just off of the Max line (.5 mi). Real homey atmosphere comfortable seating and multiple places to sit with 2-3 people to have conversations and share coffee or tea. Also larger tables too. Really great staff and very accommodating. Definitely on my list to be a regular spot to suggest for meeting up with friends.
Just visited the Main Street insomnia in Hillsboro, Aug 15. Two ladies came in without face masks. Manager offered masks. One women said she had a medical condition. End of any other action taken by staff. Called manager when I left and she pretty much inferred that’s all she could do even after reminding her of the mandate. I say refuse them service!!! Offer the online, pick up service. Inform them that she can come back with a face shield!!!! We All have to be in this together!!!!
Very good coffee and a lovely assortment of baked goods.
The coffee is great, the food is okay, but the drive through desperately needs an update! They dont take orders ahead of the window, and when theyre busy they ask you to park in a designated spot that is already taken half the time. Every time this has happened to me they dont even bother to look for my car, so I end up having to go inside after waiting 10+ minutes. Its the same story every time: We didnt see you parked in our spot... because someone else was there! They do offer to remake the coffee since it sat for a while which is nice; but waiting around even longer is not why I use the drive through in the first place.
Great staff and coffee.
Just go here on a hot day, grab yourself a nice smoothie and a chocolate chip cookie and go for a walk at Noble Woods and enjoy the weather. This is a great place to chill, love the atmosphere, employees are friendly, and the food and drinks are tasty. Definitely recommend, especially if its within 30 min walking of wherever you live.
Quaint coffee shop with eclectic deco. The baristas are very helpful and give great suggestions. I ordered a blended Aztec Mocha this visit and it was so tasty. Ive had it hot before and I think it just depends on the weather or what you are looking for that day. Their coffee is very smooth and isnt acidic. I enjoy this place very much and will definitely be back.
Hard to find on your own unless you see it on Google maps or you hear about it from a friend. A hidden gem! I don’t think there are two pieces of identical furniture in the entire place. Great atmosphere and decor. Good WiFi connection. Good food.
Coffee and staff are always great, not a fan of the beans we have tried though.
Great Time Here, good service, good coffee!
Service here is great. Pop tarts on Sat. & Sun. are even better!! 😉
Coffee is good but drive through is a bit slow
Good coffee (especially the black forest mocha) but slow service and mandatory masks in the DRIVE-THRU take it down a notch or two
Love the selection of drinks and bakery. My favorite is guava passion fruit smoothie.
Friendly people and great coffee every time. Ive been going here for years and its always a pleasant experience.
This is one of the best coffee shops I have been to in Portland area. Their hot mocha with chocolate whipped cream is my most favorite. Nice place to sit and work with good ambiance and friendly staff. The coffee beans are worth the purchase.
Heads up: Drive through only when you have 20-30 extra minutes to wait in line. Coffee orders seem to be placed at the same window as pickup. The last time I was there I had to drive through and not place an order. As I entered the drive through I could not see the number of cars backed up in line. Once in I was trapped. Frustrating to be 4th car waiting in line, spend 20 minutes and have to dash out due to time comittment. 🕘Normally the service is great, personal and as fast as possible instore. Given their time restraints due to the lack of a separate order window I might suggest a phone-in order system, but to be safe give yourself plenty of time to be safe and avoid frustration. 😊
I love it here! The atmosphere is exactly how a local coffee shop should be. So cozy and intimate. Has many cozy places to sit and chat with a friend or quietly read a good book.In addition to the great setting, I really like their coffee as well. Ive never had a beverage served to me that I didnt like and their gluten free coffee cake is to die for and I can eat gluten!!! 😆A cute, adorable little coffee spot.☕
25 minutes in the drive through still havent ordered... this is absurb... let me out of here!!
A great local business. A pillar of the community. Wonderful coffee drinks and pastries.
Black Forest Mochas are awesome, and as an independent with a drive through its super awesome
Cute person and good kafe
I love this place. Aside from being very community minded wherever they put in a location, this particular place has great seating, lighting, accessibility and a great vibe. Gluten free cookies and treats are almost always on hand, unless sold out. They have all the alternative milks you could want and their bean supply isnt over-roasted so the coffee is actually a nice experience. Staff is always friendly and its the kind of place where everyone feels welcomed.
The Insomnia coffee on Main/Baseline has a nice atmosphere and everyone is nice. The coffee is good, but they don’t offer any Vegan options to eat. I hope this changes, because I usually enjoy a good muffin with my coffee.
I was extremely disappointed to find that masks are now newly required to order through the drive through today. I have a medical condition and cannot wear them. I respect others by going through drive-throughs and ordering things from home. Drive through is my only option and now you’re taking this away from me? This is discrimination against those with medical conditions and taking away my personal freedoms in the privacy of my own car is an over reach. We are highly disappointed and won’t be giving our business again - which is sad bc we know the owners. Go ahead and trash my comment as everyone finds fault in everything these days.
A nice local shop with good coffee.
You cannot see this place from the street. It shares the same parking lot with Coyote Bar and Grill. It looks like this place is a mom and pop place with quirky decorations but I later found out this was a chain. They have a weird assortment of tables, benches, chairs, paintings, pictures, etc.... The other patrons look like they visit this place all the time and treat it like home. The service is slow but the food tastes great. The jalapeno bagel tasted great but was over priced. The Aztec was amazing but took a while to get.
The way they adapted to COVID is impressive. The same intelligently crafted coffee intelligently served. Props
The line takes forever. Workers are extremely slow like they all smoked a bowl before work. It took me 23 minutes to get through a line where there were only 3 people ahead of me. Each person only got 1-2 drinks. I dont think Ive ever waited this long in a line for coffee at any other coffee places. Woooow Im just amazed. Like what just happened? Thats a half hour of my life that ill never get back.
Fun Nice and Friendly Baristas
The staff is amazing, and attentive. The best baristas around! And the coffee is amazing!
Funky coffee shop? Place to hang out? Sure! Its a great neighborhood place to go hang and grab a coffee. I give it only 4 stars instead of 5 because my mocha was lukewarm when I got it. I had already left, so I could not get it fixed. It tasted pretty good, though.
