Theres a certain pride in this store that sets it apart from other music stores. For starters, the place is REALLY clean. Most music shops (maybe even a certain local brother company) feature instruments that are covered in dust and finger prints. At M&A, youd think they detail the instruments every night. They have some great quality name brands and signature series. The sales staff is very knowledgable and gifted. The coaches are great. Theres not much else I could ask for.

Love this store and the guys running it. Of course they are controlled by a home office elsewhere. My message to them is that you are missing out by not allowing trades and upgrades, full purchases only. Also like so many other stores you have Alverez and once in a while Takamine and Martin but I never is Godin which is a top line instrument. SlSweetwater

Great experience they took care of me

I had my silver trumpet that had sit in its case for almost 20 years. It had a few dings and the valves were sticky and the mouthpiece was stuck. My son joined beginning band and wanted to play so I took it to these guys. I got the whole package of tuning, cleaning and they fixed the dents and removed the mouthpiece and polished it for me. I was totally shocked when I picked up the trumpet. It looked BRAND NEW. These guys know what they are doing. I was able to go in a test room and play to make sure it was in tune and working properly. Not only is the service good but they have an amazing selection at the store as well. Especially guitars. solid 5 stars

I loved the Music Center in Hickory and the people who worked there were wonderful. I rented to own a flute and saxophone and started a trombone rent to own through them. Then, Music and Arts bought them out and it’s been nothing but headaches ever since. My first problem was that none of my payments were getting credited to my account. I was getting late fees and phone calls for payments I had already made. After MONTHS of dealing with this, I finally gave up and paid late fees I didn’t owe and reluctantly put my rental on auto draft so it wouldn’t happen again. Today, I discovered that instead of my normal $35 payment, $84.63 was deducted from my checking account! When I called, I was told “Congratulations, you made your last payment!” And that the last payment has extra fees associated with it. I was not notified of any extra fees that would be coming out, but they couldn’t reverse the charges, so now I am having to move money around so that other payments I have already scheduled don’t bounce!

Rodney was very helpful. He give me a good deal and was very knowledgeable about the Martin acoustic I was interested in. He went out of his way to help me hes an honest guy and I appreciate it great service.

I rarely write reviews, but this one is a must for me. Steven Campbell is an employee at this location and is simply the best. His knowledge and expertise on guitar setups, equipment, or anything music related is unparalleled. On top of this, Steven genuinely cares about his customers and ensures that people are fully aware of the products that they are buying. He is kind, patient and hilarious and you can tell he really loves what he does - a class act. Go request him and you will not be disappointed!

As an intermediate guitar player, I feel that most of the other big name music store employees act as though theyd rather be anywhere else than dealing with me, and almost always talk down to me, which I will put up with exactly ONCE......at Music and Arts, Im treated like a CUSTOMER, the people there make it clear they want my business, and they aint ACTING.When I asked questions, they had immediate answers, showing they really know their stuff, and they didnt mind me saving money over the other guys.I HIGHLY recommend Music and Arts for musical instruments (and NOT just guitars) accessories as well as sound production and expertise in all things music.

I work with an organization that was looking to purchase a bassoon, oboe, & a French horn for a high school band program. This close to $10k and our largest single purchase so we were a bit nervous. I called Music & Arts first and I’m SO glad I did! Terry took so much time explaining everything to me and making sure we got the best possible instruments for the students. He made me feel so comfortable with our organizations purchase & now we won’t look anywhere else to do our purchasing! Thank you Terry and ALL of the great folks at Music & Arts. Nice little place for music instruments and accessories.

Every time I have been to visit the music and arts center in hickory all the employees are super nice and helpful.......Rodney Sebastian, Terry DePauw, and Mindy Stewart, are always available for any questions I might have.The acoustic guitar room is super nice and the acoustic tonal qualities in the room are amazing, it also smells like you walked right into a cedar chest.

We were not behind on our payments to the Music Center. That did not stop new owners from assuming that everybody that was previously with Music Center was 2 months behind. Automatically deducted money from my account without proper approval. They refuse to give my money back or at least return my account to current status. I do not recommend doing business with this Shady company.

This is a great place to find a good guitar. I walked in, looked at what they had and instantly fell in love with a fender acoustic electric guitar. The guy was very nice and allowed me to play it for as long as Id like and even hooked it up to a amp to test. Understand, this is a music center not solely a guitar shop.....so it has a little bit of everything. All in all I am completely satisfied with their quality and customer service. If your looking at beginner to intermediate level guitars this is the place.

Appalled at the customer service here. Maybe its good if youre wanting to buy a instrument, maybe then theyll actually spend more than 3 minutes talking to you. Any other time, would not recommend. I took my 1442 original Silvertone electric guitar to see if it would work, and to get it strung, the guy up there said that it was missing hardware, that I needed to do research and to come back when I knew a little bit more about it, and proceeded to tell me his schedule. So I did so, came back the next day, turns out my guitar wasnt missing anything, the guitar is in perfect condition. I told a different guy this-the other guy wasnt there-and they were wanting to charge me about 40 dollars to send it off to some other guy, JUST TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. They didnt even try to help me. Please find somewhere else to go.

The employees here are very helpful they do not overcharge for equiptment available.the store is always nice and organized. If you ask about a specific instrument that is not ready available they will do do there upmost to assist you in you musical instrument purchace.

This place is a joke on many levels. First, the lessons they offer, they have you call the guy directly to make an appointment and after a month and many promises that they will call back they never do. Talked to the manager, he states this is just the way he is. Stay away from their lessons
