This place was swamped but they had us seated within five minutes and a server had our appetizer and drinks to the table in another five. We sat outside which made for an interesting Saturday afternoon for people watching. While the service was fantastic and speedy, the food was honestly only slightly better than average - it lacked any sort of bold flavor or remembrance after the fact. I will say that they can make a generous and delicious mojito!
The steak tacos were flavorful, but nothing special. The best part of my meal was the avocado lime dressing with the side salad and the pico (salsa fresco) with the chips was really tasty too. The location is the best part, particularly the outdoor seating. The margaritas were very weak and utterly flavorless. We mentioned it to the waitress, and when she brought the manager out he was defensive and supposed that we might not know what margaritas taste like. He told us “well each of these (60oz) pitchers have at least 5 shots in them”. He did bring out extra shots which helped, but was hardly friendly. Not a nightmare, but definitely not impressive and not really worth trying again. 3 stars.
The nachos were good and a nice vegetarian option! The salsa was very chunky (pretty much diced tomatoes, onions, and cilantro). I liked it, but others I went with prefer a blended salsa so they didn’t care for it. A good option in the area if you want to stay parked close to the shops in Downtown Duluth.
Its a beautiful restaurant located at a prime spot serving some really nice mexcian cuisine. They have variety of Mexican food options available- tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadilla to name a few. The place is situated at a junction corner with inside, deck and outside table seating arrangements. Enjoy the local city commotion whilst eating the food if that what you like! In the corona pandemic situation the restaurant requires reservation prior to seat and order food, you can check with the person managing the deck/outside seating or the inside seating option with the person at the inside counter. Everyone ia super nice and super helpful. Their speciality is variety of Margarita options and one should definitely try them out. Great for having lunch and dinner with family and friends! It is a popular eating place in Duluth and definitly worth trying if you are a tourist looking for a good food experience! Cheers!
Had an amazing lunch on the deck. The signature wrap was delicious and fairly priced. Wait staff was excellent. Couldnt recommend it any more highly.
Im gluten-free/(I have celiac disease) their menu is excellent for gluten-free!!Not to mention the staff was excellent on preparing it 👏The staff was very friendly,The food was excellent and sitting in there the atmosphere is just super cool!! Id highly recommend this place.
The food is awful. There is no seasoning and everything except the chicken was under cooked. The chicken was very very dry. The waiter brought me A1 when I asked for hot sauce. That was fun. I spent the 20 minutes waiting on the check contemplating how they are always packed. The environment is packed and very loud. It definitely isnt special needs friendly. No room for wheelchairs, loud, and bright.
The chips and pico were good. But the food was flavorless and dry. It is a good place to for quick snack and drinks. But I wouldnt go for food there again.
Service was a little hit or miss. Some folks were crazy-happy to be there, others looked high or sleepy or bored. Kind of a fun mix of drinks available, which ours ended up being fine. Strangely enough, they have some magical machine that cant portion out queso with chips - you have to buy the chips and salsa and then the queso. Very mysterious. We worked on appetizers and enjoyed the weather, but didnt make a full meal out of it. Might be worth it to go back, though.
The large deck in front is a great place to eat on a nice summer evening. The breeze feels great and its a good place to people watch or chat with people at a neighboring table. It seems to be a little pricey, but that is to be expected in a tourist district. We had the Sriracha enchilada and asparagus and shrimp quesadilla. Both were good, but not great.Overall, enjoyed the evening.
The food is not authentic Mexican food. Bland with tons of lime juice and the whole grain tortilla chips was just no bueno. Will not go back there or recommend it.
Food good and friendly staff but when we called with 7 people we were not told they would need to put us at two booths. We were aware of having to split because only 6 at table allowed but we assumed we would be at two tables next to each other. They should tell customers making a reservation they may be in two booths. Made it hard to enjoy dinner with friends when we couldnt talk to half the group.
The portion are very small for the price. Not the normal fajita, a little sour. It comes with only two flour tortilla. They charge 5% kitchen team charge. Isnt their pay already accounted for in the labor cost which you charge the customers? If you want the back kitchen to have tip then make all tips pooled and divided every month. If the food was good and portioned well I actually wont mind paying them tip too but we left the restaurant still hungry. The restroom is dirty, you should assign someone to regularly check the restroom. Lots of flies inside too and staff and management are not doing anything about it.
Ordered the Queso, yucky! Had the seafood enchiladas, no flavor, not hot. The plobano rice was mushy. Had a blood orange gin cocktail that was good.
This place was OK at best. I had their world famous chicken fajitas and there wasnt anything famous about them. I guess anyone can throw that title around now a days. I have traveled all over the United States and the fajitas at this place wouldnt even qualify as Minnesota famous, haha. Not to mention they dont even serve house chips and salsa, you have to pay for it. I probably wont be back. To leave on a good note though, the service was excellent.
We had a nice lunch here. Service was excellent, even though it was a full restaurant. Tropical tacos with fruit salsa were very good.
No free chips and salsa anymore. Food came out fast but was luke warm at best. Flavor was not even close to Tex-mex or Mexican. We have been here in the past when visiting Duluth and it was decent. I love Mexican food and have eaten at Mexican Restaurants all over the country. This was the worst meal I have ever had. Save your money. DONT GO HERE!!! Trust me and the other reviews on this.
Good service from our waiter. Hostess was not at all friendly. Food was mediocre at best. A Sysco American version of Mexican food. Dont fall in to the tourist trap. Ugh !
If I could leave 0 stars I definitely would. The food was terrible and our service was even worse. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I understand places are short-staffed, but our server didn’t check on us once after taking our order. As someone who has worked in the food industry, this was absolutely inexcusable.
We had a new server, her name was Summer. She did a really excellent job. Super professional, kind, and speedy. I wouldn’t have known she was knew had her supervisor not swung by to ask us to write down a review and give feedback. She was a delight. The steak street tacos came with a grilled zucchini and it was amazing, my son loved the chicken tenders, fries, and the churros, husband enjoyed his massive pile of nachos. Overall a very pleasant and tasty experience.
Went with my husband yesterday and we were so disappointed in the food and staff, we will not be going back. The food came out and it was not what we had expected at all, the steak from the fajitas and burrito were completely burnt, to the point we couldn’t even eat it the taste was so bad. The martini was the only positive experience from our trip there. Our server constantly passed our table, not asking if we needed refills, boxes, or anything else. My husband actually at one point asked for a drink menu(because my martini was gone) which she gave us, and then never checked back to see if we wanted to order a drink. Then another time we had to flag her down basically to ask for our check and another pop! Then when entering the restaurant and leaving we were not greeted or talked to at all. Typically you’d get a “how may I help you” or “thank you have a great night.” Not a single work from any of the 4 people we passed at the front. Not to mention everyone at the front of the restaurant looked like they either hated their job or were forced to be there. Overall it was not a good experience.
Only one variety of salsa and it was good but pretty mild, also very hard to dip in the little cup it comes in. Steak enchiladas were rare and didnt settle well, also tasted fishy. Coke from the gun at bar has syrup mix set way too low. Would not recommend or return if in the area.
Its OK. Not the best Mexican food in Duluth, not the worst. Slow service, a little overpriced.
Food was ok. Did not like the chicken fajitas. Huckleberry margarita was awesome though.
We ordered 3 drinks, 3 dinners, and a chips and salsa for a starter. We only got 2 drinks, he brought our dinners but no chips and salsa. We asked for the chips and salsa & they looked and tasted like we got the end of a bag of tostitos. The salsa was ok, not great. Everything was VERY garlicky; the guac, the beans (which were undercooked as well). The tortillas for the fajitas were cold and the chicken tasted strongly of vinegar. The enchiladas were dry corn tortillas with some salty taco meat inside and sauce over the top; a poor excuse for an enchilada from even the worst Tex-mex establishment.Im not a local but this place was recommended and I would not come back if you paid me.
As a Mexican American woman I cannot suggest that you eat here.. The rice and beans tasted light straight up Oregano. The quesadilla was only ok, and the tacos could have been presented better. The staff was nice, the margaritas were good but if you actually enjoy Mexican food, don’t eat here.
Waited 20 minutes to be served drinks and have our order taken. After waiting another hour we left without eating having only seen our waiter two or three times total. When he did show up, there was absolutely no enthusiasm for his work. This may have been the longest time I’ve waited for what should have been quick lunch food. I wish we could have at least tried the food, but this poor excuse for service was far too frustrating to pay for. Genuinely convinced that the ONLY reason this place is still open is it’s location.
Some members of our group enjoyed the margaritas and their meals were good. The food wasnt bad however the price point was a little high.If checking it out; there are 2 separate wait times for the patio or inside.
Food was terrible no tasting at all. I ordered a burrito it was so dry . our server never brought tortilla chips and salsa to our table. next to us, the other waiter put tortilla chips and salads at each of their tables, even at tables that arrived after us. we ordered a margarita taste like a grape Kool-aid, they have an idea of what a tex-mex food is but its still fuzzy
Came in here recently for late night food and drinks and was not disappointed. I was actually really impressed at how well this place did with both food and drinks on a busy night. The restaurant was pretty empty, but the bar was full.We were seated right away and our server was very friendly and attentive. The drinks we ordered were really good and the food was tasty and came in gigantic portions.Would definitely stop in again.
The service and location were good. The food was terrible. Had to wait 40 minutes for a table on a Wednesday evening and it was not worth the wait. It all tasted like frozen blandness that was warmed up, served on a plate and way over charged for the quality. Definitely skip this - don’t get fooled by the nice looking location.
Not very good. The chimichangas were burnt and so was the sauce on top. Nobody was dressed professionally and the only thing worth eating there, are the chips.
Very expensive for a Mexican restaurant( small servings for the price),very weak drinks. The staff was obviously short and overworked despite that our server was very kind and when I requested hot sauce they actually brought me a wonderful spicy habanaro sauce ( which was a pleasant surprise).I personally wouldnt go here unless I was out of options but it sure beats places like Grandmas or Old Chicago.
The food was terrible. I ordered the roasted chicken enchilada. The tortillas were dry and rubbery, it tasted like they had been microwaved. The rice was somehow overcooked and undercooked at the same time? It was mushy and I would occasionally get an uncooked grain in my bites. My fiance couldnt finish his rice because it was flavorless and spicy. We had no salt or pepper shakers to fix up our food, and the cups and silverware were covered in dishwasher residue.I used to love the food here, but its really gone downhill. The shredded chicken is absolutely delicious every time I eat there, so I think Ill be sticking to the Angies nachos from now on.
Terrible experience. Service was good, but the food was probably the worst and overpriced Mexican style food I’ve ever had. The beans and rice were dry and bland. Definitely never coming back.
Neat location, in the midst of a lot of shopping. I ordered a wrap and it was delicious, but my wifes food turned out too dry. Its a little pricey but it is a fun spot to grab a bite.
Usually like clock work every time we travel to Duluth and stay at our usual place just down the street...it never fails for us to make a pit stop for lunch or dinner at Angies!Back in September (2017), we dropped in for dinner. The staff there are mostly college kids but know their restaurant. They are quick, friendly and when things slow down are great tour guides for suggesting places to see and visit while in Duluth. The food is very good if you enjoy Tex Mex and the prices reasonably reflect the quality. The drinks...especially their margaritas are amazing! They know how to make them! You will not be disappointed, I never am!!The interior is fun and historical with many old leather saddles, rawhide ropes, woven baskets, old wooden pieces - like a ladder, saddle tree & pottery! Theres even an original saddle that belonged to Poncho Villa!!Just remember that usually on the weekends, especially during the summer months they get very busy so plan accordingly if you decide to visit!
Got the Fruit Tacos and they actually were pretty good! Unfortunately, it was way overpriced (around $14) for very little food, just two softshells and some fruit on the side and a fruit salsa for the tacos. Thought it might come with a side, but no.Had to make a reservation to sit indoors as well, which might be important to note.
Wonderful experience all around. Highly recommend the Fajita combination. The outdoor seating is amazing and the staff was very friendly and attentive.
Wait staff were excellent. I believe the kitchen was backed up (that seems to be very common up here right now) so even tho plenty of servers and open tables, increased wait for food but all handled it well. Had sriracha chicken, was nicely spicy but otherwise lacking in flavor. Ordered chips and salsa. Salsa very fresh but many very small broken chip pieces rather than full chips, so hard to eat.
It was packed right after opening and low on staff. Our server was amazing and kept checking on us. I have celiac and was able to eat without any issues.
Margarita for breakfast? was the question I answered quite fondly, as my first meal of the day started off with a lunchtime Mango Margarita. Its like a smoothie right? (Except much better!) The presentation of the food was aesthetically pleasing, and the location is prime. Right in the heart of Canal Park, I glimpsed out the window and reminisced crossing the finish line of my first marathon nearly a year prior. Oh Grandmas. Food-wise, I only dipped my toes in the pool of Mexican cuisine, so my response is only relative when I say my taco salad was good, when I was hoping for wow. (Perhaps it was the margarita doing the hoping...) Id return for the margaritas and the guacamole, and Id bring along some friends. The comfort of dining solo, even in the barroom was lacking. Not all places can cater well to single diners, but I must say its a great atmosphere for a group of friends!
The food was not good and way overpriced. The only reason for the 2 stars is because the waitress was good. I would not recommend eating here though.
First and foremost; while understaffed like most every place right now, the staff was extremely friendly and doing anything they could for you. Food-wise; the Longhorn burrito and steak enchiladas were very tasty! Would recommend checking the place out.
Food was disgusting. They managed to mess up simple hardshell beef tacos. Shells were chewy like they had been sitting out for days before being used. Seasoning and toppings were subpar. Food was cold. The street tacos my girlfriend had looked like they used prepackaged grilled chicken. Rice tastes like every other generic Mexican restaurant. Server seemed indifferent and inattentive. Seating and decor was torn and dirty with food splatters. You would be better off eating at Taco Bell.
Good ace too eat. Its also dog friendly
The service was the only good thing about our dining experience! The glasses were dirty, the food was over cooked, dry and tasted old. We had 3 kids meals and 2 adult meals. The fries from the kids meals tasted like they’d been served 3x over that day! So awful. I’d never recommend.
Probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. Food smelt horrible when I came out. The fajitas were in some weird liquid that smelt like throw up. Ive had better steak cooked on a stove top than what came with my meal. And my opinion Ive had better authentic mexican food at Taco Bell.
Me and my guest liked this place very much! Very nice staff and the tropical tacos and steak tacos were awesome! good drinks as well
Huge shout out and “thank you” to Little Angie’s! This is a favorite for our family when we come to Duluth! Always amazing food, great service, and a fun atmosphere! Last night my son had an allergic reaction during dinner (turns out not related to food) and my son and I had to leave abruptly to get medical care. The staff was so kind and accommodating in getting my husband an ingredient list. They boxed up mine and my son’s food (it had just arrived when we had to leave) and removed them from the bill. It was a very kind, unexpected, and thoughtful gesture. We will definitely be continuing our Little Angie’s tradition every time we visit Duluth! Thank you, Little Angie’s, for your kindness during a stressful situation!
Our server, Ryan, was awesome. We came the day of Grandmas Marathon and it was packed, but the service was prompt and the food was to our table quicker than most restaurants on a slow night. Oh and it was delicious too.
Very poor food and Service. Rice and beans were over done. Our taco salad shell was also over done
Great food, location and atmosphere. Located just a block from famous lift bridge. We have visited many times and rarely had any issues however during our recent visit the staff did face some challenges with our orders, vegetarians do have some but limited options. Paid parking around the restaurant
Food was good...not great...pricey. in a trendy area by lake shore. Known for margaritas.
Love this place!!! One of the only and best mexican restaurants in Duluth. The fajitas are so yummy, Im a vegetarian so sauteed vegetables for me and they are still so yummy. Some of the best drinks in Duluth as well in my opinion. The margaritas are yummy not too strong not to light. And there are so many choices. Its hard to pick just one. You end up drinking two to three different flavors just to be able to try them all. During Covid they are still safe, distancing us all from different tables and the servers are always wearing masks. Lots of hand sanitizers that made us feel way more safe as well.In a prime location just a block away from the lake. They also sell hot sauces which are yummy. I bought a couple the last time we went.
The staff here at Little Angies work even better than a well oiled machine. Theyre quick, friendly, and highly knowledgeable about the drinks and the food menu alike. I would love to visit this place weekly! Highly recommended!
Food was awesome as usual.Casi was a wonderful server.25 yrs going here once every year for our anniversary and never had a bad meal
The service was great but the food was subpar. The steak was way overcooked and dry. The salsa was amazing tho!
Food service. Decent food. Great of you have dogs along, there is outside seating.
Food and margaritas were good and fast but the staff playing musical umbrellas was stupid and distracting. It even had employees arguing about umbrella usage. Problem could be easily solved by getting enough product sponsored umbrellas for each of their patio dining tables. Also staff socializing with hostess when there were tables needing to be bused and new guests being told by hostess that no tables were available since they needed to be bused did not make sense. In my opinion, the socializers need to be trained in teamwork so they could assist with clearing tables.
My girlfriend and I had a great experience at Little Angies. Our waiter was a pretty chill dude and was very attentive. The food was excellent and would highly recommend paying a visit.
Went there to eat, there was 9 of us couldnt seat us all together would of had to be in two different tables in two different areas so we went to Grandmas all 9 of us sat together very accommodating would recommend Grandmas over Little Angies.
Food was good. Large patio. Disappointed in lack of covid measures - no masks on servers.
Fantastic food, great service, large portions. Fun atmosphere.
Personally, I did not like the food at this establishment. I got the beef nachos and they were very bad. The quality of the beef was poor, the cheese was disgusting, and even the chips were marginal at best. I mean come on! How can you mess up chips!
Best enchiladas in Minnesota. Love the red sauce. 👍
I had the ground beef chimmy and it could had fed 2 people. My kids shared the chicken fajitas and I think they were lacking flavor for the price. But otherwise everything else was on point. But Id recommend the ground beer chimmy. I left in pain. But it was worth it.
Patio seating was great weather was terrific for it.Staff are always nice!
Probably a good place for drinks and endless chips and salsa (the only good food). It is nice decor and in canal park, with. But the food was subpar and bland. The kids quesadilla was undercooked with Kraft singles. The tacos looked and tasted reheated. The menu is pretty bland. Id only return for the cheap and delicious chips and dip.
Food was good but service was awful, waitress acted like we were an inconvenience. I waitress part time and she was not pleasant, we had to asked for chips and salsa then got charged for it? Our food was delivered to the wrong people at our table and 2 orders completely wrong. Not sure if I will be back with all the choices in Duluth.
Service was good but the food was absolutely disgusting. The drinks were good but everything else tasted the same like they had the same three seasonings in the back. It is also incredibly expensive for barely any food.
Over priced Taco Bell. Only flavor I could taste in my steak enchiladas was cheese. There is really nothing good I can say. I guess the location has allowed them to stay open all these years. Chips were beyond salty.
Beans were dry on both plates rice was mushy. I had seafood enchiladas had 1 shrimp in 3 shell. My wife had chicken chimichangashadno flavor no
A sure thing.Always good food, large portions, and super convenient location. They take great care of you, if you have special dietary needs (gluten free, in my case) as well.Easy to kick around Canal Park area on foot, then just walk here for a bite when youre famished. In season, dining on the outdoor patio is always grand!Edit (in response to owners response): Please feel free to use my words to benefit your business, including editing the above content for length. 💖
Had the largest margarita, good as usual but they only serve chips and salsa (free) at the bar now. Table needed for food.
Food was not the greatest. We had the chicken chimichanga, which was really good, and the steak enchiladas. The enchiladas were not good at all. The steak was over cooked and hard. And the tortillas were cold.
Food was good. Service was terrible. We were not given the complimentary chips and salsa. No refills on drinks. Service was slow and food was incomplete. Waiting for long time for bill. It is not too hard to smile.
Nothing tasted even ok. Tasteless and bland. The so called salsa was a salad basically. Rice is so mushy you’d think it’s mashed potatoes. Fajitas are not even cooked together-meat is added later.
All bar tenders were fantastic friendly courteous sociable and professional. No eating at bar but bar tenders were cool. Crowded on Saturday.
