Congratulations to Roger and Caitlin who have recently purchased Capricorn from Andrew, who has been my favorite mechanic for years. The new owners offer great service and value, as did Andrew. The office is clean and efficient, run smoothly by Caitlin, and Roger is a very qualified professional mechanic with deep experience and a very good work ethic and demeanor. He kept my 2002 Toyota Landcruiser for a bit of extra time after replacing the timing belt to adjust repeatedly until the engine purrs. Much appreciated. Well be back.
Capricorn is my go to shop in Healdsburg. Andrew is knowledgeable and will not railroad anyone into needless repairs. Highly recommended.
I just stopped in for some advice about coolant for my Jaguar and Andrew was so helpful!
The young man that did my intake was wonderful. He had remembered a problem I had called about [drain hoses] from a month before. Right off the bat I knew I was in right spot. Owner was also Very nice. Answered all questions. It was nice to find a good auto place so close to me. We found our new Porsche auto shop.
A few weeks back, on a windy 4:a.m.work day, my back window wouldnt roll up!!Andrew was able to squeeze my car in that week..I appreciate having an honest knowledgeable Automotive mechanic in Healdsburg. I stopped going to the dealerships years ago..Highly recommend..Thank you.
Ive taken my car to Capricorn numerous times over the years and have always had good experiences. Andrew is very knowledgable and trustworthy, and seems to genuinely enjoy what he does. Great shop.
These guys are great! Knowledgeable and fair in their prices. I appreciate the fact that they are straight shooters. They are honest and expedient in their work.
One of my best car-issue experiences ;). They patiently put up with my crisis situation (a flood and a broken car), offered a timely solution, DID NOT mansplain the issue AND!! I ended up with a bill even lower than the estimate. I also got to learn what the problem was in the first place, which is very helpful - in case of future troubles. The sort of place that will have people coming back. I do appreciate the sense of humor, too! ;)
Grade B rip off mechanics. They see you coming a mile away and gouge prices for people who don’t know any better. They claimed a tailpipe tip had to be welded back on... there are 3 Allen key set screws holding it on. They charged us $36 in parts for a headlight that costs less than $2 at any automotive store.Way to be a stereotypical import mechanic. 👎🖕👎
I have taken 3 German cars to Capricorn over the years, and have always been impressed with the service, as well as the prices.Last month a friend’s truck was stalling in Healdsburg. We rolled into Capricorn 15 mins before they were even open, and a mechanic happened to get there at the same time. He opened the shop for us. They were able to get my friend’s truck taken care of same day, it only needed a battery. Price was quite reasonable as well.Highly recommend them.
Andrew and his crew are tops. We have been very pleased with their expertise, diagnostic capability, efficiency and very fair pricing. Recommended HIGHLY.
I took my Mercedes in to install alternator because testing results showed battery would not hold charge. The man who greeted me did not know where battery was located, and said would do some tests to diagnose problem. After 5 hours my car was ready. OH MY GOSH!! THEY BROKE ENGINE COVER WOULD NOT ADMIT TO CHOPPING WIRES TO FAN, DRAINED COOLANT did not replace . When I asked about problems the OWNER SAID JUST PUT WATER IN RADIATOR, HE WOULD GO TO PICK AND PULL FOR COVER REPLACEMNT.!!! I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN
Andy and Andrew at Capricorn Automotive are just incredible and remind me of old time, small town service. My best friend from H.S. and college roomate were driving my wifes BMW Z4M from my home on the coast of WA state to LA on a 5 day road trip. It was going well until late in the 2nd day, 10 miles north of Healdsburg, the car developed a miss which was worse under load. We pulled over and I called my independent repair shop in Aberdeen, WA and they thought it was likely a dead coil and less likely a plugged injector. They suggested I not drive it far and located the name of Capricorn Auto. on the internet. We limped it the10 miles there and met Andy. Its 3:00 Friday afternoon. Within 10 minutes, Andy had his computer plugged in and diagnosed a dead #6 coil. He searched their inventory and didnt have one but the local parts house did. Their driver brought over 2 and Andy chose the correct one, installed it and SHAZAM, the car again ran fine. I paid the very reasonabe bill and we were on our way. Instead of spending the weekend with the car on a rollback truck waiting for the BMW dealer to open, we were on our way in 90 minutes.Andy and Andrew: incredible service and expertise. Thank you. The small amount I paid you in no way paid for the service I received andthe inconvenience you prevented. Im indebted.
I live in Vancouver, WA and have relatives in Cloverdale and Healdsburg. When I come I stay at the WorldMark in Windsor. I was driving down I-5 Sunday afternoon south of Redding when I heard a whack sound. I figured that it was a rock that hit something besides the windshield, since I didnt see a chip.I pulled into Corning which happened to be the next town and host of The Olive Pit where I wanted to stop. As I pulled up to the off-ramp stop I noticed some white smoke coming from the hood. However, I had just spilled some oil topping up in Anderson so I didnt think anything of it.I turned under the freeway and when I came to the light at the other end of the underpass, the engine would not slow to an idle. It kept revving up on its own. I looked at the gauges and noticed (thankfully) that the temperature was just below the red line.I turned into a parking lot and let the car cool off and then looked in the radiator.Dry. And it took an entire bottle from the parts store across the street -- lucky me -- to fill it.I looked under the hood and sat that it was dripping profusely but not a flood. So I drove 30 miles and refilled it. Drove 30 miles and refilled it. And so on to Windsor, about six fills later.I was in a world of hurt because Ive gotta get back to Vancouver; I brought a bunch of technical stuff to do recording of my family. My nephew called Andrew at Capricorn and told him the story. He said, bring it in, and a day later after several twists and turns, Andrew had identified the culprit hose and replaced it. He actually had to fabricate the hose because the car is a 1990 Acura, not something you see all the time nowadays.Thank you Andrew, very much.
