Probably my favorite food spot in Hattiesburg. The food and coffee are always good. The specials are creative and delicious thanks to an adventurous kitchen staff. The waitstaff is always super friendly and attentive.Huge bonus points for always being extremely dog friendly on the patio. My pup gets all the attention and pets after they bring him a water bowl.

This was my first visit since they relocated & Im glad it wasnt my first impression of The Depot, as I have been a fan since my first cup of Dark Roast Coffee & Slice of Quiche I had at the original location. Now Ill preface this to say that I walked in with about 15 to 20 minutes before closing. I actually made a special trip in from Jones County to try the Schnitzel Sandwich they had posted online the day before as their weekly special. Unlike the original location, when you walk in, you dont know if table service is offered, and if not, it is not obvious which counter you are supposed to order from. Back to the Schnitzel Sandwich that I road in for, they were OUT of it, so even as disappointed as I was, but knowing their food is always good, I was OK with trying their Roast Beef Sandwich, except they were also out of that, so now were on a downhill roll. Not giving up, I decided to try their Korean BBQ Sandwich with house made Kimchi. The best part of the sandwich was the house made Kimchi, which I could have ate a bowl full of, but the pork itself had a surprisingly off-putting flavor to it, that made the sandwich almost inedible, which really was a surprise. Also surprisingly good was the BBQ Sauce on the sandwich. The cheese grits were great also.Service at best was lacking, as my server walked by my table multiple times without offering to fill up my obviously empty water glass. I finally had to stop him and ask for a refill. He also failed to bring any creamer out for my coffee and I had to go ask one of the ladies behind the counter for some.Last but not least, though they do offer beer, they did not have a single dark beer of anykind, which was another let down.Note: The fact that they had Truvia(stevia) on the table was a plus.Maybe they will run the Schnitzel Sandwich again sometime soon, & Ill get lucky enough to actually get to try it.

This restaurant is fantastic! We ordered take away over the phone after being impressed by the menu, as vegetarians. The food was ready quickly and I wish we had time to eat there, as the patio was adorable and super spacious, get very Covid safe. I was greeted sweetly when I entered and ended up adding a delicious drink & sweet treat, as the menu was too good to resist. We ate in a nearby park before getting back on the road, and the food was absolutely delicious! The pressed veggie sandwich & marinated chickpeas were to die for! We wish every town we stopped through had a Kitchen Depot, as we loved everything about it!!

Its Amazing how most of the reviews are great and pictures are exactly how I wanted my food to look. The Presentation of my order was underwhelming. The Korean BBQ sandwich was lackluster. The pork had no flavor, the sauce was very oily which drowned out spicy mayo. The bun was soaked in that mixture. I love Cilantro, but two leaves. Really!. The baked potato salad puts the O in Okay. The crab cakes sliders with the tomato and cucumber salad presentation was on point. Now for the taste. First bite the entire slider pushed out the opposite side. The cake was mush, well under seasoned, cant say how the remoulade taste (because I dont remember, it was unremarkable). The salad was pretty and just that. The dressing on top was bland. Like it was meant to be more, but just couldnt reach maturity Now looking back at the menu its was supposed to be a lemon basil vinny. Clearly someone forgot the lemon, the basil and the vinny (side is Vinny supposed to be vinaigrette if so what do you think is vinegar?)

Occasionally, while off the beaten path, one finds a hidden gem. We found ourselves in Hattiesburg, MS the morning of October 21, 2020. While seeing the sights there we needed a bite to eat and I spotted a little place called The Depot Kitchen and Market. The Depot is one of those gems. We both decided on Bru’s breakfast bowl containing a cheddar biscuit topped with sausage gravy, bacon, scrambled eggs, and cheddar cheese. This dish was simply delicious! The cheddar biscuit by itself would be noteworthy, but the dish as a whole was superb. The biscuit was a large “cat head” biscuit the inside of which was light and fluffy while the slightly crunchy exterior worked with the bacon to add a juxtaposition to soft creamy eggs and gravy. The gravy was not simply bechamel with a few pieces of sausage tossed in. The gravy had a good amount of sausage throughout and had taken on a soft brown hue from it. The textural dynamic contrast within the dish is excellent and makes for a wonderful dining experience! If you find yourself hungry in or near Hattiesburg, MS, do yourself a favor and visit The Depot Kitchen and Market!

5 stars hands. It was our first time here and all employees were courteous and nice and spot on! We ordered at the counter and before I was able to sit at a table my coffee was there. Like, hell yeah dude. The food was out maybe 5 minutes later and was delicious. It tasted like everything was made from scratch and even my 18 month old ate his meal (which is impressive since he doesnt eat most of what we make him at home). Very pleased. Will be back in no time to try out breakfast!

Stopped here for a quick cup of coffee and wasn’t impressed compared to other coffee shops I’ve visited. The prices were a little high. I had a 20 oz latte, and my son had a bottle Barq’s and a cup of cheese grits...just over $17. It is a cafe and market and the market area was sparse. I saw a few shirts and a few bags of coffee and grits nothing else. Would have liked to see mugs, coffee presses, ball caps...anything.. the service was friendly and the atmosphere good, not real inviting or boutique coffee shop-like but more generic like a chain like Panera Bread (which I like Panera Bread, but it’s not like a traditional coffee shop but more like a generic chain). For the price I would expect a better experience.
