I came to Hampton to visit a customer. I ate dinner and lunch at this restaurant and the place serves fresh delicious food.I also had one of their desserts and coffee, excellent too.The staff and manager were friendly, all these coments coming from a guy who lives in Houston TX known for its friendliness!
Had a great experience. Service was wonderful. Our bartender was fantastic. Ordered the feta dip. Wow. So tasty. Will definitely be returning. Long Island ice tea was remarkable!!! Best my husband and I ever had :)
Galley Hatch is a restaurant that you never get a bad meal. The food is A+ and the wait staff are polite and attentive. Drop by and see their bakery, Tittos Cafe and eat at one of the best restaurants around.
I grew up going to the Galley Hatch on family vacations almost every summer and had the restaurant been as bad then as it was this weekend, then I am sure my parents would have opted for somewhere else. I had good memories of great seafood, but either management has changed or they just dont care anymore, because this was an outright disappointment. To start, we were looking for seafood and were presented brunch menus with very limited seafood options. We debated on whether to leave and after 10 minutes, since no server had even come to the table, we were getting up when finally someone decided to stop by. Well, we should have left, but we sat back down and ordered drinks. Already disappointed, but hungry, we opted to forego the seafood and just order something quick. My wife ordered the mezze plate, which was hummus, carrots, celery, olives and pita. I ordered a lamb burger with fries. The pictures show what she was served and it should have been an embarrassment to the kitchen to send it out. The celery was dried out and old, and had started to turn brown, the carrots were old, the hummus was a small, flavorless portion, the pita was toasted too much, and there were no olives. My burger was dry with no flavor, the tzaziki sauce was watery, and the feta was a white clump that was very unappetizing. Yes, we went for seafood and ordered other items, but food quality and service should be no different regardless of what you order. Would I return to try the seafood? Absolutely not! This is the New England coast and good, quality seafood restaurants are plentiful. First impressions remain first impressions. Go anywhere in the area but here to eat.
Stopped on a whim as we’d been traveling for a few days from the west and knew we wanted seafood. The jumbo shrimp had to have been the best / freshest we’ve experienced in 20 years+ !! One of us also had the salmon - very healthy size cut with a raspberry drizzle on top. - that part is subjective- but this would have been wonderful with only the cedar plank and some light seasoning. Our sever was so friendly and told us about so many local spots to go check out on the shore.
On my short list! Great place to visit well vacationing in the area. Pub or front dinning room seating available. Knowledge staff. Good service time even at peak hours. Seafood was fresh. Well definitely be back next summer.
I have been a frequent diner since the early 70s. The Galley Hatch has always been and still is The Best of The Best.
Food was excellent (all 6 of us ordered specials: squash ravioli & scallops, prime rib & seafood casserole, etc) and even better was the service. Carolyn was the perfect server: polite, unintrusive and anticipated our desires. She was absolutely perfect. As she told us, shes part of the old guard. Well cheers to them and their superior service.
To be fair, the food was absolutely delicious- my fiancé got raviolis and I got a steak and cheese sandwich. The hostess was pretty rude and not welcoming at all. Barely answered a question we asked her without being snippy. Our waitress barely spoke to us and took forever to serve us/come back to check on us (Monica). She never asked how our meals were, didn’t explain anything, didn’t give us our water until we asked again. Our drinks took what seemed like FOREVER. Makes sense, when she finally came back with them, she had just ripped a cigarette outside and absolutely stunk.Here’s the kicker though- on their receipts, customers have the option to pay online through a QR code. I took advantage of that so we could just get out of there quicker. Paid, got up to go, and she literally CHASED US to the front door because she thought we dined and dashed. Not sure, but maybe wait staff should be aware of payment options and check on the status of those checks BEFORE chasing after customers and yelling to them in front of the whole restaurant.Again, bummer, because the food was awesome.
We had an amazing dinner at the Galley Hatch last night, Molly was super helpful in getting our large family a dinner reservation for a Sunday night! The food was amazing, the bread basket was awesome, everything was flawless! The servers were top notch, they didn’t miss a beat with drinks or food. We ordered a cake from the bakery for my nephews 5th birthday and again it was outstanding! We will be back for sure, thank you to all the staff at the Galley Hatch you treated us like royalty 🤗
Hard to find a good restaurant like this that is not part of a huge chain! The place has charm from a by gone era yet it has been updated beautifully. Been around for a long time for a reason. If you havent been give them a shot you will be back again and again like me.
Great service! I had a seafood dish with popovers that was truly incredible. It was LOADED with seafood - scallops, lobster, shrimp, and haddock in a creamy newburg sauce. I had sauteed spinach with garlic for my side.
I am a long time customer of the Galley Hatch (30 years on and off) and have always had good meals and great drinks. For the past 10-15 years, I frequently visit the bar room on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The bar staff is top notch. Donna, Beth, and Angela always take good care of us. If something is not quite right, they take care of it.My daughter and son-in-law were in town so we decide to go to the Hatch. Made reservation and had little wait. No big deal. Went to the bar and the four of us had a drink. We then sat down around 7:15-7:30.Order a drink, which was four wines and it took 45 minutes. Had to reminder her. Then, I need to stop another waitress to find out where our drinks were. We then ordered our food which took around 45 minutes. Other people were seated and received there meals. Again, I had to stop another waitress to find out what was going on. By now it was almost 9:00 and not busy in the dinning room. My daughter needed to get home to be with our granddaughter. We ask to settle our bill and to have our meal boxed. The waitress (Jamie) blamed the kitchen staff. Through them under the bus. Poor form !! Then the manager came over (Marissa) and apologized. I paid the bill. See attachment. We left and I decided to return and inform the Manager that the waitress had unpleasant comments about the kitchen staff. She again apologized.I still plan on dinning at the Galley Hatch, but it will be in the bar room area with the great staff. They always takes care of you, even if things go wrong.Not even a slice of pie for the inconvenience!! Poor form, as my better half would say!!
Staff is warm & friendly, food is absolutely delicious. Fresh bakery in restaurants for desserts. I will definitely be going back.
Just a perfect place to.stop on a very hot evening. Terrific service, menu selections for everyone.. and well priced evening specials and desserts to tempt the undecided.

Wow! Beyond impressed with this place. We both had the steak tips they were seasoned and cooked perfectly as were the vegetables and the service was awesome. I highly recommend it.
WOW. The fishermans platter was good. I dont normally like seafood but that scallops and calamari was extremely juicy.

I love a good reuben sandwich. When ever we travel, I make it a point to order one, and compare it against what Ive experienced elsewhere. In the past, the Galley Hatch has been right up top of my all-time best list. Unfortunately, this past Memorial Day, they moved to the bottom of the list. Price was up literally 50%, and the quality was down 100%. What did I get ... two blobs of mush. Corned beef was mediocre (a bit grisly), and everything else was just ... mush. Rye was not even slightly toasted, so hence the ... mush. Were talking Cooking 101 here. This sandwich needs to spend some time on the grill. Pretty pathetic, pretty embarrassing ... especially for the Galley Hatch. Ill probably give them another chance, but it wont be any time soon.
We enjoyed everything....though more salt needed in almost everything. Beautiful presentation and good food, but salt is crucial to bringing out all the flavors. A small but important fix! Great service. Thank you Roseanne!
Get the carrot cake asap!!!! The sandwiches are also absolutely amazing. The staff was amazing and super friendly and the decor was on point!
We originally went to dine in but were unsure and didn’t make a reservation prior to and were met with a decent wait time, 45-60 mins. We were hungry but not and covered in sea water so we were looking to eat and go shower. The shower won and we ended up ordering to go… which was AMAZING!! Their rendition of clam chowder with bacon, so good! The seafood was fresh and lobster roll was prepared delicately and cooked to perfection. I wasn’t allowed the green light to sample their baked goods (diet schmiet) but visually, they looked divine. The staff was engaging and entertaining while I waited and the manager on duty walked me through each and every dessert. Next time we’re in the area my family will ABSOLUTELY dine in and sample the desserts they have available.
Had the Bacon cheddar skins and the Reuben sandwich with a side of fries.My mother had the wedge salad and the potato skins as well.Food was good, last visit was around 6 years ago and the quality is still amazing for how long its been around.Servers were attentive and friendly, as well as welcoming to our group.Only complaint was the Reuben must have been a bit old or an off cut of meat, little gristly and chewy but otherwise delicious.Great place for lunch and dinner, definitely would recommend it for a night out with a group.

We visited the Galley Hatch Restaurant for our 35th wedding anniversary., The food was excellent and came out in a timely manner! Our waitress Amy did an awesome job! We will be sure to visit again when we are in the area!!
Whenever we are in that part of the state we stop for lunch there. Their menu is tasty and plenty if beers to choose from on the menu. Always Satisfied.

Seafood Newburgh in a popover? Best meal I’ve ever had! Hands down incredible food and service every time I’ve been here. The food is impeccable and I’ve never had anything that would be described as just “good”. Their food is out of this world delicious.

Stopped for a quick lunch and ordered chicken and onion rings. Both were amazing! The chicken was extremely tender and juicy. Definitely will return to indulge in some of the other delicious looking items on the menu.
Always love the galley hatch for the quintessential New England classics. Fishermans Platter is the best one out there! Also try the Firestarter cider!
The food was delicious! The drinks were delicious! Pictured below lemon drop Martini! Yum! The service was amazing! Hostess was sweet and seated us right away. Our waiter was Stephen and he was awesome! We sat outside. Waiters and hostess wore a mask and gloves. Everything was cleaned immediately upon people leaving their tables. An all around great time!
Food was very good. My husband got the duck special with rice and sweet potatoes. I got the seafood Newburg popover which was yummy!! I had the 2 drink specials of pomegranate mimosa and a white sangria that also were very good.

I been coming here for years with my Mom and Dad and family and friends the service and Food Has always Been Too Notch . Today I went with my mom the Dad after my Dad Pass away and where we had so many memories with him here and today 6-17-2021 we sat in the Bar side and I felt it was as if my Dad was Sitting here with and again the service was fantastic and Food was Perfect I would Highly Recommend you try this place and it with become one of your Favorite just as it is Ours

Absolutely incredible! Admittedly, this was not our first choice. We are not from the area and we were hungry after an outdoor event. However, regardless of everything that happened, I am SO happy we ended up coming here for dinner. The place is emasculate. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive. But how is the food? Amaaaaazing! Our waitress, Kim, was very kind and gave us plenty of time to order. I asked her what she would pick, as I was stuck between 2 amazing choices. I decided to go with the fried haddock. My husband had the steak and cheese, and our daughter had the chicken tenders and fries. Of course, I always cut up my daughters food first. I HAD to have a bite of her chicken. Oh my goodness, so mouthwatering and the breading is perfect! All of our food was perfect. I had a glass of sangria with my dinner and it was perfect. I surely hope to visit again someday. They say everything happens for a reason, so it was meant to be for us to come there tonight. On a side note, their little gift shop and dessert shop is so cute and cozy! It was late by the time we left, so the lobby area was closed. We will be back! The giraffe stole my heart!
With the crazy times we are in, we had to go with a plan B wedding ceremony. I reached out to them with short notice for our wedding cake. I had a picture of a cake I really liked. Sent them a picture and they immediately called me and said we can do this. The price was way less than I expected (1/2 of what others wanted) and the cake was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! We did the Buttercream frosting, white cake with raspberry filling. When we picked it up it was exactly and I mean to a ‘T’ what I wanted.Being new to the area, I just found my new Bakery and can’t wait to use you again in the future! Thank you to all that made our day special… you are truly top notch!
We have fallen in love with this restaurant. They are big enough that the wait is short and the menu has a lot of choices to please everyone, including those dieting! Fresh, quality ingredients well prepared at a reasonable price!

The food and service was good. We were a little “underdressed” and the hostesses made us feel VERY unwelcome. Lots of very unnecessary stares, and wouldn’t have wished us a good night if we hadn’t said anything.
My wife and I stopped in on a Wednesday, at 4:45pm for dinner. The atmosphere and wait staff was fine. The food was very over priced for bland, off the delivery truck quality food. Been here many times in the past...must have no Chef or experienced kitchen help anymore.

Disappointing experience at the Galley Hatch today, July 5, 2021 at 3:00 PM. Aside from the hostess that stated an accurate waiting period our experience took an immediate downhill due to our waitress’s overt impatience and curt mannerism.Experience as follows:*Upon placing our meal order, Seafood Newburg and a Salmon Burger, our waitress informed us that any one side on the menu comes with our meal. My boyfriend chose the mash potatoes only for our waitress to say “I forgot to mention that the mash potatoes and many other sides are not available”, so he chose the onion rings instead. Once I ordered the Salmon Burger our waitress said that wasn’t available either, and she went as far as stating “they should have taken the Salmon Burger off the menu a long time ago.” So I ordered the Reuben instead.*Upon arrival of the our food, the Seafood Newburg had a very small portion of assorted seafood with a watery appearing sauce. The taste of the seafood was overcooked, indeed watery with a rubbery texture; tasted microwaved rather than baked. The side of the onion rings appeared in nature to be a frozen, low grade restaurant supply product that arrived undercooked and cold. As for the Reuben it was toasted instead of grilled with more sauerkraut to compensate for the lack of corn beef.

Very nice experience on Mothers Day. Stopped in w/o reservations, got seated quickly, nice table, waitress and delicious meal - seafood newburg and baked haddock. Dessert EXCELLENT carrot cake, others must be as good, they operate a bakery within the site.

This review is about the poor customer service. I was there on Saturday and had a bad waitress and then again today. I have gone to your establishment 4 times in 10 days and we order take out from grub hub as well.For the prices you charge I expect to have better service. Today one of your waitresses asked me if I wanted the kitchen to reheat my toasted tuna sandwich because it was cold when it came out. The manager being there and present never even came to the table to do her job instead she hid behind the hostess desk. How can you tell a customer if they want to reheat toasted slice bread, common sense you cant reheat rock hard toast. Unfortunately if the poor service continues we will take our business elsewhere.
This was such a disappointing experience.1 - Igloo dining was in a parking lot.2 - Waitress was useless at best3 - 2 of 4 orders were cold and took so long to come back out that the other 2 were completed before eaten.4 - Over 20 minutes before dessert order was taken. To the point we just ordered it to go.All major complaints are service. And its a 200 minimum for igloo! Youd think that wed at least get decent service.Only plus is the food. My suggestion is if you live close call DoorDash and order it in if you want a good experience from here. If you think Im too harsh here, read other reviews by me and youll know Im not. 2 stars are both for the food.

Never been to the restaurant so I cant comment on friendliness etc.. however I ordered galley hatch thru grub hub and received the absolutely most delicious chicken tenders Ive ever eaten, in fact galley hatch has officially ruined me from eating them from anywhere else ..... Ill have to go and eat in sometime real soon

Nachos loaded, excellent! No guacamole though. Had to ask for more sour cream. Clean, Busy but not overcrowded. They had igloos outside and occupied! Waitress was not attentive. Hostess very attentive.

This is a great local restaurant for me. I have been going there since I was a teenager...many years ago 😊 The food is consistently great, they have many specials daily and the staff is very friendly. I celebrated my #60 Birthday with my sisters and niece the other day. We were able to enjoy our time without feeling rushed. Our lunches were terrific... I had the biggest lobster roll I have ever had. I recommend the Galley Hatch for locals and tourists.

Love it here everytime!! My boyfriend and I always start with the feta dip and I recommend you do too. I love seafood and he loves burgers and this place has the best of both. Had the prime rib tonight and it was also amazing, asked for a side of horseradish sauce which was also delicious. Service here has always been amazing.

At the first moment you come to this restaurant the waiters give you a great feeling. Very hospitable crew, it is a kind place to to go out with friends or with your date. Excellent meals, qualified chef, competitive price and attentive service. Warmly recommended.

The food was AMAZING and the service was stellar Janice is an amazing server and she was so prompt and kind. The coffee shop and pastries were also delicious.
Called and made a reservation for an igloo and was told when I got there my reservation was never made even though my information was taken down and know one called me to tell me there was a mistake made. We ate inside because we drove an hour to have dinner here on a Saturday. When eating we noticed the whole time we were there for about an hour and a half there was an open igloo.
Our waitress Pat was so awesome, very prompt and food was delish. We will return😎
They have always been a favorite - good food and good service. Since the virus has come into play they have put a variety of protections in place that makes it a comfortable place to eat. I had lunch there yesterday, and breakfast today.
Really great place for dinner with the family amazing food too!
