The owner, Barry was very personable, and my oil change was quick and reasonably priced.

Very disappointed. I had a blowout and needed a tire mounted on my rim and put back on my car.Car-X ONLY service tires THEY sell!

There good guys. Have dealt with them a number of times. For instance I didnt know there is a switch under the brake pedal that turns off the brake lights. Apparently my grandson while playing in the car found it. They knew why the brake lights didnt work. Reasonable rates for all work.

Had to stop for an emergency repair on the way to vacation which is never a good thing. The repair was done quickly and without the extreme prices that most places would have charged on a Saturday afternoon for a walk in. The owners were there and they were delightful people. I can now say I got a guy in Hammond, IN. Can not recommend any more strenuously.

They did my oil change and tire rotation exactly as expected, my car was ready at the time promised. And its a really decent price also. I have no complaints so they get five stars.

It was seriously overpriced and I was promised the lower place of a lower control arm and when I came back it was almost double the price I was shocked at the price and the car still vibrated!!!

Went in as my SUV sounded like a fright train. Jacob immediately greeted me and asked what brought me in. I told him the issue and he came outside and looked underneath my SUV. He identified the issue immediately. For my particular issue there were options to fix it. He explained each and the cost. I was able to get the issue fixed for a great price and was taken care of that afternoon. I was very satisfied with the customer service, the price and the fix for my SUV. Very happy when I left.

Barry once again rocks it and shows he really cares! I had gone to get my car fixed and the lady at the desk was having a hard time finding parts. The mechanic and I were being very patient. She was lets just say not on the pleasant side and even at one time told the mechanic to find parts. I did not like how she was pushing her job off on him. The parts finally found total would have been almost $1,000.00 for exhaust of a foreign car which is probably about true. I just was not in a position to spend that. The mechanic did present other options but neither of us knew how to bill it with her. I just was not at a place to deal with this as Barry is always the best and I even told her check with Infinit if you have too. She just was so flustered that I would ask her to check and compare part prices. I watched her behavior and just had a enough. It was little things but little things you just dont expect at Barrys. I ended up leaving... I felt too uncomfortable and did go elsewhere and have the part done the way Barrys Mechanic was suggesting saving $700.00. I know had Barry been at the counter that day I would have got the same results I found elsewhere as Barry respects his Mechanic and Customers and finds a way to get the job done the best possible way for the Customer.The reason I say Barry still rocks is he got to work and saw the bad review i left of the ladys behavior and immediately called me to apologize and find out what happened. He truly does care about doing right by his customers. I told him I will still see him but not on Thursdays when she is there. Perhaps it was a bit me stressed that day, I just did not have my normal above and beyond tolerance. It really hit me hard when I saw her tell the Mechanic find your own parts. It is her job to get the parts for him so he can keep working. Jose the Mechanic is a very caring man. I felt bad not having him do the work. I just could not deal with the counter lady after so long. Barry did address and make things right. Way to go Barry... and Jose I will still have you do work when needed..just not when she is there.

Came to the location in Lansing, IL on a late Saturday afternoon to get a new battery. I wish I remembered his name, but the manager was very accommodating and understanding. The battery was replaced quickly and I was on my way. Will definitely visit this location again.

Its a really bad store, theyre irresponsible, and I think they cheat. I toll my van to they store On Tuesday because the van wouldnt start. I told them I was try to bump the van to star but not working. They told me is battery problem so I spent $200 on a new battery. I didnt go to work on Wednesday, left my car at home all day. However, The first time I use the van after I pick up is on Thursday, but wouldnt start again. I called them and told them what happened, They said its not their problem. They can not get somebody come to see and They are not cover the toll also. If this is not their problem, I wonder whos problem? Im not a professional, but I want to know, if this is the battery problem, how did they fix it last time? If its not the battery, why do they say its the battery, they didnt find out the real reason?

Do not take your car to them for any reason, unless you want to pay an obscene price for an oil change. The man at the counter is rude and conveys a, “Hey little girl what’s on your little mind?” attitude. He did not discuss what things would cost, explain fully the work he would do, and only asked what type of oil to use. He charged over twice what the car dealer does, and said it was discounted. Who charges $88 originally for an oil change plus $15 for a filter that I did not authorize. I do not know if this man owns this business, if he doesn’t, the owner is foolish to retain him. He also smokes in the shop part, so the entire place reeks of cigarettes. I agree with the reviewer who questioned why an established franchise like Car X doesn’t severe their ties with this shop. The place is never busy for a reason. The restaurant next door has heard numerous complaints from their customers about this shop. No wonder they have a help wanted sign; who would want to work there?I cannot too strongly emphasize everyone to stay away, perhaps Car X will realize they are damaging the brand and be more proactive about addressing the quality of this shop. I question the positive reviews; it wouldn’t be above this place to post good reviews themselves. Complete charlatans out to rip off whomever they can. They obviously don’t get it that such service means no customers, and that over charging is not the way.

The gentleman that worked in the shop was awesome. Checked my car out, and was in and out quickly. Quality service, friendly and did a great job!

If I could give 0 stars I would. The owner here at this Car-X location is unprofessional and does not care about your car issues. Called for a timing cover replacement, after telling the owner my issue the owner literary said verbatim Sounds like you have a problem and we really dont want that mess here. We dont want those type of problems or a big job like that. He then said he can check on an estimate but in reality he just told me that to get me off the phone. The owner never called back with an estimate so I knew he was lying. Hope Car- X sees these past bad reviews and drops this guy. He shouldnt be given the opportunity to carry the Car-X name with that type of poor service. He also has demonstrated poor quality of work. In closing I have taken my wifes van here 1x to fix the driver side wheel bearing, a month later the bearing is making noise took it somewhere else and they said it was the driver side bearing, which Car-X replaced a month ago. Tired to tell the owner to replace under warranty but he refused and said it wasnt the driver side bearing after we literally showed the report from another reputable mechanic shop. Dont take your car here, they lie treat you unprofessionally and do not honor warranty. RUN!!

I absolutely love this place! It is the only place I go for my car maintenance needs. All of the gentlemen are very polite, work in a timely manner and are informative. My favorite part is my conversations with the owner while my vehicle is being serviced. Great place to go, they make you feel like family!

I received a warning indicator that my tire pressure was low, so I pulled into the Car-X Tire & Auto on the corner of 173rd Street and Indianapolis Boulevard in Hammond, IN. There were three mechanics in the shop with no customers. I said excuse me and the mechanic looked up from his book and said go head and pull in and the girl at the front desk will take care of you. I said, I just wanted to know if someone could check my tire pressure? He then responded (while pointing) go across the street to the gas station, they charge $1 for that. So, I pulled off, called the business number and shared my experience with the lady that answered the telephone. After a few questions, she encouraged me to return, but I said no thank you and continued further down the street and was able to get the task accomplished with better customer service.

As the Owner of Schoops Hamburgers (Restaurant next door), I have been getting my vehicles serviced by Barry and his team for about 11 years now. They have done it all, from the simple light bulb, too getting towed in. The service has always been awesome, Ive never had a problem with their work and when it comes to prices, well, you get what you pay for. I want to know my vehicle is always serviced properly, so I go with the best.. Our local Carx Man Barry!

Not a fan of this place they try to add add-ons which I understand, but they over price it! And they are under staff so super long wait times!

I specifically asked to have my exhaust pipe repaired/cut/welded due to a leak in a previous weld line. Also had an oil change. I paid and was about to drive away when i hit the gas, I distinctively heard the same exhaust leak. I had the technician lift the car as i stood bye to see the exhaust leak from the exact same spot, in fact it hadnt even been repaired or replaced. I was appalled as I am a welder and know what it needed to be done correctly. He opened a tube of exhaust caulk, like a hardening compound, and proceeded to plaster the weld with his finger tip. I have a 1964 Chevrolet Impala, I just wanted the job done correctly is all. Thank you but no thank you Car-X. Ill take my business elswhere.

The servicemen in this place are always kind, courteous and knows exactly whats wrong with my vehicles every time I take them.Their services are phenomenal and would not take my vehicle to any other garage apart from this....5*****!!!

Went for oil change .Very happy wait wasnt to long either.

I went around 10 am and the guy at the desk was nice. It took maybe 30 minutes for an oil change on my Mazda protege. BUT they put the wrong oil in my car. My car manual says 1030W and they put 530W 😒.

The sevice was bad i came in for a complete intake job the full price was charged for a rush job doing the intake you would have thought a new air filter would be put in

The service is good, but the last time I had an oil change there, got home to wash my car and discovered dirty oil smeared along the whole lower passenger side. Pain in the ass to clean off. Will be looking for a new place next time I need one.

Crazy expensive.

I took my car barry McGuire on 4/14 to get repairs to pass the emission test and they didnt fix it. I took my car back the next day 4/15 and they I needed to give then $1,057.63 to fix it. They are not doing anything about my car to help me I do not recommend one one to go there they are cheating people out their money and not fixing their cars right. DONT GO!!

They are not certified to do anything they are Ali mechanics thats every Car-X tires then I went to nobody is certified

My wife took her truck in quoted her over 650 for front n rear brakes took to another shop full inspection nothing wrong slight squuek from brake rotor sitting for long periods brake pads in excellent condition con artists dont trust them!!!!!!!!

Daughter was getting headaches had a leak in her Cadillac converter they put a flex pipe on there and then why they did that they burned off the oxygen sensor I went in head no engine light on I left with engine light car was bogging out on me they pointed at the paper and say look you bring it in for fumes do you smell fumes I said no they said okay our jobs done charging $250 went to another auto place Call Pepes on Railroad Avenue in East Chicago they fix sensor it said the sensor was damaged from when they torch the Cadillac converter off had damaged it and that bill cost additional $146.00 they play sneaky be aware theres no free estimates there either they charge 1995
