I was very pleased when I visited Grass Valley and found Safeway to be very close to our hotel. I walked there with my grandson when we needed a few supplies, and I was greeted by employees and other shoppers alike. One long haired, yet clean cut, young man (is that an oxymoron?) was especially helpful and seemed to thoroughly enjoy his work.This store was very clean and well stocked and remained open late even on a Sunday which was a welcome sight to see.

Very well kept store which takes hard work in a older store. The employees were friendly and enjoyed working at this location. Keep up the good work!

Standard grocery store thats well kept. Could use a renovation as its a little dated.

Always love my Albertsons or Safeway they both always carry the same items which makes it convenient because if theres not one of the stores on a block theyll be one of the other stores and theyll offer the same items. Prices have went up and so has prices everywhere else still always have an excellent source of produce. Always recommend your Safeway and Albertsons.Connie and Gig Harbor

As usual, Sutton Way Safeway has great sales items and it is easy to compare across brands. Most times, I will go with a bargain brand but there some things that I reallly do care about such as BBQ sauce. I will pay more for one of my favorites unless theres a lesser brand that a whole lot cheaper-say 1/2 price.

Less up to date than the other GV Safeway, this store is relatively small with fewer choices and no in-house bakery. This is the walk-to grocery store for urban Grass Valley.

Pretty small as far as grocery stores go, but they have everything I need and theyre always helpful and friendly.

Cannot go lower than 1 star. I will not be going back nor will I support them. Inside I was stalked, harrased, and discriminated and threatened along with my 6yr old son in and outside of safeway by 8-10 teens which unknown to me has ben an issue at this location. I am a disabled veteran and I will not condone or even tolerate this kind of behavior and lack of safety for customers. I will also be letting your local veterans organizations know of whats going on.

The Cashiers and checkers are awesome...Best Safeway in Northern California...All the Pharmacy people are wonderful...

Keeping it clean. Relatively fast service (avoid Fridays, Weekends and the 5-7 rush) considering the volume of traffic through this store. Rare I cant find what Im looking for as far as groceries. Decent selection of fruits and veggies with good attention paid to organic varieties. Wine beer and liquor are all well stocked and the meat counter has decent cuts. All around a solid option for run of the mill standard shopping trips. Better savings than other local supermarket chains makes it our families go to.

They were very friendly and the store had boxes in the aisles. I really like that store. Down town Grass Valley.Over in Glenbrook area, is a bigger store and has more stuff . Theyre friendly too but it takes forever to checkout. I really like Safeway stores.

Everything is there staff are grate old Safeway

We call it the un-Safeway. Masks optional.Beyond that, no fault to them, an older store, so small. That leads to less selection. So if it isnt a mainstream item, go to the larger one.Staff here is always nice, store clean, shelves maintained.

The store looked nice except no soap in the restroom for hand washing.

This store has been here forever. No fancy bakery (although they do have some donuts, etc, brought in from another store) or deli, just your average grocery store. Has some organic produce, but expensive. My problem with this place is they never seem to have enough cashiers. I prefer Grocery Outlet, where I save a lot more money.

I love Safeway grocery store. Its my favorite grocery store. They have everything you need, deli counter, bakery, great produce department, butcher shop.

I enjoyed their wide selection of ice cream. They also had beautiful glass vases in an incredible range of colors, shapes and sizes that were reasonably priced and would make great gifts if you could stand to part with them! The employees were very helpful and pleasant. I had a great trip there, and it had improved upon my former impression of that store.

Store doesnt make sense. It is time to tear down and build new and better. Baggers need better training.

If you dont mind waiting in long lines every time because they cant seem to open another check stand, They got rid of that really rude checker So thats a plus. If you shop whats on sale its a pretty good place

Its a decent small town supermarket. But if your in grass valley, your selection is limited. If your in town, youll probably go to safeway

Very crowded so you have to be in the mood but they have some fantastic prices on name brand stuff. The top of the line canned dog food I buy other places for almost $4 a can is $2.50 at Safeway!!!

Love shopping at Safeway. Ive checked out all the stores around Grass Valley and compared them to Safeway. Safeway has the best prices, best produce and the best service. I love doing self checkout when I only have a few items, in and out in no time at all. I love the Safeway app and the Just for U coupons were you scan items with your phone and then get credit for the coupon by using your Safeway card at the register. If you havent downloaded the Safeway app and connected your Safeway card to it then you should give it a try. Great way to save money. Just watch for the Just for U coupons by the price of each item and scan the item and then use your Safeway card at the register, presto, electronic coupon. Its that easy.

Its getting very expensive

Only store open on my way home. There are 4 or 5 employees who are amazing and go above and beyond for the customers. They are the only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 1. The morning crew have several members that bring a very negative feeling to the whole store and makes me appreciate the wonderful few who make up for the sour feeling of the bad bunch bring. And never go close to closing..unlocked door and light on..yet the scream like you broke in and all but physically acost you. Good Luck

Good old classic Safeway in the middle of a friendly city. Friendly and helpful people.

Its a great store! People who work there are super friendly and helpful. Prices are competitive and store is organized and clean.

Safeway has better prices and a bigger selection of fresh meats, fish & poultry in their meat department. If you cant find the cut of meat you want they will cut it for you. Great sales every day. They have a large and delicious deli, great staff there to. The veggies and fruit department is elegant and the produce doesnt look like the high school varsity football team used it for practice. Big store, little prices. Well worth the time to go.

If only they had a better selection of Organic food Id add a star or two... the only good thing about this place is that they are open after everything else in town is closed and that they have Bamba!After all its just another big store that pushed out all the small sweet honest mama and papa stores. A bunch of fake smiles behind unsatisfied employees that are doing there best to make it through to the end of the month.Unless you have no other option Id recommend going to the briar patch or natural food selection where they sell actual food and treat their employees right.

I,ve been shopping here for years. The people are friendly and they are members of our community.

I love the bakery and the manager at the meat counter is quite nice and helpful. I was there early in the morning and passed several employees and it wasnt until I was at the checkout before anybody even acknowledged me or had a smile. They all seem to have a look on their face of please dont talk to me I dont want to have to provide customer service.

While visiting my son and my beautiful granddaughter I decided to go and grab some things for breakfast. All I can say is if youre in the area and you want service with a smile and a great selection of everything, you need to shop here. 💯

Pretty crowded most of the time. Best times to come in is during the week, and from 5am-11am. Its hit and miss with the crowd here. Great little store in a great community. Would just be cool if the management would allow more checkers!

Its the people, the service, the parking, the staff, the quality of product, and the price! I love it when they have 2 for 1 sales or buy 2 get 2 free. I mean, so what if you came in to only buy 1-12 pk of soda and you end up buying 2. Guess what? Ya got 2 FREE 12 pks.! So it breaks down to HALF OFF!

They are usually short staffed, but the long line is worth waiting in when you get a smile and amazing customer service from Sue, Jamie, Rick, Nicole, and many more great employees!

This particular Safeway is my favorite we have two but this one is the best. Its personable and the staff are more than friendly and always willing to go that extra mile to help you. I went in today looking for a hard to find item and one of the employees stopped to help me she went to every place in that store where she thought they might be and found what I was looking for. She did it all with a winderful cheerful attitude. Great store, Great staff, always well stocked! Although Safeway is a chain store and most chain stores are not very friendly this Safeway has that small town grocery store a out them which I Love and in a small town like Grass Valley I want my grocery store to have that small town grocery feel to it.
