Friendly and professional service. Love to keep it local and love it even better when they provide great quality! Would recommend!
Bryan is super knowledgeable and more than kind. Excellent customer service and very reasonable prices. Would recommend to anyone interested in photography.
We Grand Rapidians are extremely fortunate to have Marks Photo and Video here in town. It is hard to find a quality film-developing service that works in-house. Even more difficult to find someone who can often finish your rolls and have scans sent to you by later the same day, or the very next day! I am always impressed by the quality and quickness of my scans. Not to mention the selection of used gear. I am yet to purchase a lens from Marks, but when Im ready for an upgrade I know where Ill be shopping!
I called today inquiring about converting a tape from a long-ago visit to family in Sweden. The first thing said was, Let me cut you off at the pass, then, We dont offer that service, and finally, I wish you luck!Respectfully pressing for more information - if a referral could be made to another business in the area that could do the conversion, if PAL players are available from which the tape could be watched - an explanation about voltage issues was given. The second star is for that explanation, the first is for the curt and dismissive way in which the call was initially handled.Responses to other recent negative reviews have included reasons of being short-staffed and over-worked. That would describe the jobs of many people at the moment. In those things, and in your own words, I wish you luck!
Great prices and awesome place to find affordable used gear! I shoot a lot of film and this place has helped me through many questions and has been super helpful and a great resource when I need an extra photographers opinion or advice. On a plus side they just started developing slide film so Im a happy camper. My only true wish is that they would push and pull color but beggars cant be choosers 😆.
Fantastic service! Very friendly and very knowledgeable guy!
Poor customer service. We brought our video camera in for service and the agent said they dont repair video cameras like that. He had not even taken the camera out of the bag to look at it. When we told him we were trying to view the videos to copy them, he said he had no idea about that although they could transfer the tapes starting at $9.99 per tape. They were no help at all. I understand why on-line services are getting so much of the new business! Following is a line taken from their web pageIf your camera has a problem we can help. We repair all digital, digital slr, film and video cameras as well as Kodak slide projectors.Guess they say one thing yet mean another!
Rarely do I make complaints (I don’t even know if I ever have posted a complaint,) but, sheesh, I really didn’t enjoy the standoffish rep that I had the other day at Mark’s. The prints that I ordered were nice. They seem to get outstanding reviews on here for customer service. I’ll give it another try sometime with the hope that I’ll have a better experience.
Bryan and the team at Marks Photo consistently provide quality products and top notch service. We recently had need for a photo wall (backdrop, stands and advice) for an event. Bryan went above and beyond to help us make the best of a Covid event by providing everything we needed for the wall. We were also able to get a quality tripod to use with a video camera. Thanks again Bryan and the team! Marks Photo is the areas best specialty camera (and more) store.
I shoot a lot of film photos and its tough to find someone that still develops that without having to ship it out and wait weeks to get it back. I drop my film off there and get my photos sent to my email within a couple hours. Very polite and helpful staff.
Awesome store for film photography lovers.Very polite service and nice gears available
I called Marks Photo & Video concerning some questions related to my DSLR and lens calibration. Jeff was highly knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant to talk to. He took the time to ask questions about my cameras to provide a more in depth opinion and was honest and forthcoming about my options. Highly recommend!!
The best film development service I have ever had! The entire team is so accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly. They really take the time to make it an educational experience. Three rolls of film were ready an hour after drop off and looked wonderful. This is such a gem of a store-- shop local & and shop here!
Wide variety of film processing. Great selection of used 35mm camera bodies, straps, and lenses. Latest digital products can be found there too! Very knowledgeable and helpful staff.
The service here is incredible! Knowledgeable staff that love their job. Their passion for photography is what makes this business rock! I was there and dropped off film and they began processing it immediately. There are very few film developers left which makes this business so valuable. Thank you Mark and your associates for maintaining a film developing service when all others have left the art behind.
I needed slides turned into JPEGs, a cassette tape turned into an MP3, and a home movie turned into a DVD. Mark’s did an awesome job and was timely. Special thanks to Jeff who handled all of it so quickly!
I dropped off some rolls of old 35mm film for developing. The clerk was very helpful in explaining the pricing and suggesting my best options. All around a good experience.
Very experienced staff, great selection of new and used products at AMAZING prices. But calling them can be time consuming, spent a least 10 minutes on hold last time. But eventually they answered my question and I got what I needed.
They developed some old one time used cameras, gain more knowledge on a new lens.Love learning new photo ops,Thank you Marks Photo
They developed my film quickly and did a beautiful job!
These guys go above and beyond for customer service. Ive never had a bad experience here and I will continue to be a loyal customer
I have never received better service. Truly personifies the photography communities filial identity.
Always helpful in finding what you need. They can even help you order what you need. They only work with specific brands though.
Jeff clearly knows his stuff. He was very helpful with a difficult project. When I was there I saw several customers come in. All were treated very kindly and the employees were very helpful! Worth the drive there.
I recently purchased a camera here. The service I received was an education. The camera and lens I purchased were exactly what I needed. I was pleased with the Olympus prices. The buying experience was way better than Best Buy. But that should be expected since Mark’s is a specialty store.
Every time I go I am just treated so nicely. I love it.
They were very nice and super helpful! I had a rush order on a vhs to dvd and they had it done in less then a day! Really nice price too these guys are great!
Very cool store, great experience getting my film developed here. the film was done in a good time, and the pictures turned out great. I was super pleased over all with them. I will definitely come back and continue getting my film developed here.
In the past 12 months, I upgraded my Nikon D70 kit to an Olympus OMD E-M5 II with 2 pro lenses. I am having more fun with my photography than I have had in years. I am a hobby photographer shooting kids, pets, wildlife etc and the results are outstanding with this set up. Thanks Bryan and Daniel for your great support and recommendations. A great store and a positive shopping experience locally in Grand Rapids!! Keep up the great work!!
Bryan and Daniel are great! Daniel also has some audio expertise and was very instrumental in helping me identify the best solution for my audio-video recording goals with the Olympus EM-1. Very satisfied customer! They are also more than willing to spend time with you to answer questions and show you features. I would definitely recommend Marks Photo & Video.
Really unhappy with the customer service at this place. It has taken weeks to get my picture retouched and cropped. When you do finally talk to someone they dont care about your order and have no suggestions. I prefer to shop local but expect a level of service better than what I receive at Walgreens. Take a clue Mark and focus on your customers otherwise your doors will close!
These guys are great. They dont try to over sell and are very knowledgeable. Great at answering any questions! Very helpful. We love the new camera! It has exactly everything we were looking for.
Always helpful on anything need. Or to be done. Staff vary friendly. And know what they are doing.Best place to take your photos too.
I went in to get a camera fixed. The clerk seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. He was unable to fix the camera, but gave me the phone number to the company that could. He also offered me a used camera that was comparable to the one I had. I paid a very small price for it and the camera is great for what I purchased it for! The only reason I didnt give it five stars is because although they have a variety of cameras, I feel they are geared more towards professional or semi professional photographers and not someone that just wants an inexpensive basic camera, so the prices for new cameras did start a little higher than I would want to pay.
Friendly and knowledgeable service every time.Updating this post to remind everyone what great service this place and the staff provides. When my expensive camera had a mechanical issue, they sent it to two different repair services in Lansing and then Chicago for me. And when the repair couldnt be done, they gave me a discount on a replacement. I could not recommend this business highly enough.
What an AWESOME BUSINESS! I had film that was my grandpas from his time in the Navy during the Korean war and they were able to develop it! Thank you a million times over
Awesome old school camera store that still believes in film.
Extremely knowledgeable staff. Friendly and courteous. Didnt try to upsell me to what I didnt want.
Very helpful staff. They gave me great advice and were able to work within my budget to get me set up with a used lens. I will definitely shop the in the future.
Only place I will ever shop! Brian and Daniel are so knowledgeable and willing to take the time to go above and beyond to help when they can. I recommend Marks to anyone looking to buy camera gear.
Excellent service.
Very willing to help out. A good sections of equipments. I have come back to check the stock..and buy...
Fair prices. Quality service. Not going to get a better overall deal online.
Was hoping to get some pre-sales advice to help me make a decision on what path to take as I consider purchasing a replacement camera. One employee was clueless and the other told me something that was completely wrong (based on mfgs own product offering and numerous You Tube discussions Ive watched on the issue). Headed back to Normans.
Very knowledgeable. Didnt try to up sell me.
They are knowledgeable but are also able to speak in laymans terms. Very personable. You wont get that from Amazon much :)
Good place to have photos and videos duplicated or put on DVD
Very knowledgeable staff.
I have used Marks sense moving to Grand Rapids. I have bought every camera for the past 10 years from them. I have also used them for large photos (16x20 & 20x24) as I have found they do a better job than online services like Shutterfly and there is no waiting. The people there are kind and knowledgeable. I wont go anywhere else.
These guys were great and even mentioned a special I wasnt aware of so my order was half off. I would definitely recommend and will return in the future.
Great customer service and an excellent collection of new and used products.
Sold my cameras there friendly helpful
Met with a young guy named Daniel. He was SUPER helpful and went out of his way to do good business! Well be going back!
Was under the impression that they converted vhs to DVD in house based on a phone conversation I had with them. Apparently it is a send out service. Wanted to print a couple pictures to send to elderly relatives (no smartphones) but was told it was a $10 minimum. I really prefer to support local business but Walgreens meets my non-professional photography needs just fine and for way less money.
These guys are awesome film developers and incredibly friendly! Will definitely come again.
Very helpful
Extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgable staff. The lowest prices for film processing Ive seen anywhere, online and offline. Would absolutely recommend
A trip down memory lane at Marks photo. Fun!
Great service. Lots of film and they do great film processing!
Working with old family photos they are very helpful and interested in each project.
Very helpful staff who will happily answer your questions and be sure you are happy with your purchase.
Terrible experience at Marks - customer service is non existent. It is clear that the employees could care less about your project. Its to bad because i really like to frequent local businesses. I wont be going back
First, Ill say that Marks Photo and Video was great to work with and did an excellent job digitizing my photos to CDs. The problem? I needed to add photos to each CD (I had 4 made, one for each member of a group), and was assured that this was no problem, I could add to them easily. Once the CDs were all mailed, I realized that the are locked and cannot be added to. I called Marks and was told that I was misinformed and the CDs are indeed locked. No offer to adjust the price to reflect just the digitizing and refund for the CDs. I now have to start from scratch, copying each photo and creating my own CDs. Had I known this from the beginning, Id have simply had them digitized somewhere that could have given me what I asked for. 5 stars for the quality of the work, one for customer service and paying for something I cant use.
Amazing staff, great selection, good prices, very knowledgeable, friendly environment.
I was very happy with my trade, after receiving rude service from another local camera store (see my review on Norman Camera 28th st...) the service here was very friendly and knowledgeable; I even trusted them to develop some old film from the 1950s. Long story short I was able to trade some gear for full frame sony-zeiss glass before a last minute photography trip at an acceptable price and they had exactly what I needed! Very happy I made the trip here, will be back soon!
Most terrible place in the history of places. We brought in our cameras to get the photos printed but they just gave us the negatives and then expected us to pay extra to actually print them off. Terrible help. Overall one of the worst places I’ve ever been to. If I could give them no stars I would.
Used Marks photobooth for my wedding Loved the photos! I chose the video option also and I was informed by all of my guests that they were never told about the video. He told them about the sepia, b&w, and color options but noone even knew there was a video option, which is why i chose this vendor.I actually asked the technician if he was telling people about it and he said yes, which i found out was obviously a lie once i started asking my guests.I would hire Mark again but not that specific technician. Not impressed with him.
Super knowledgeable, understanding and fulfilling.
I like the work they did to my moms pic
Awesome service!
Good place to go for camera suplies.
One of the only places to get 35 mm prints done, highly recommend!
Brought my camera and my lens in for repair after it had been dropped. When I went into the store they had WCSG playing on the radio (A Christian Radio Station) so I felt pretty good about using this business for the repairs needed on my camera. Paid nearly $300 bucks to get it fixed and was given 90 days warranty on the repair. At first glance when I got the camera back it looked and worked fine after taking a couple of shots. However upon further use (Using the manual modes) and taking some action shots where you need a fast shutter speed, I noticed that the camera would freeze up and make strange noises. I tried using it only on the auto mode and the same thing would happen when I tried to take multiple shots in a row. I then took the camera back into Marks Photo because I was still well within the 90 day repair warranty and explained to them the issues I was having with the camera (It never did this before it was dropped). I talked to a gentlemen who looked at my original repair paper work and then looked at my camera and said it was probably my lens but they would send it in (to some guy in Muskegon) to have it looked at. A few days later I get a call from a lady at Marks Photo who said the problem was with my lens and that the repair would cost $145! At this point I was a little upset to say the least. I explained that I previously took the camera in for repair WITH the lens and was told by the employee that the lens was not covered because there was nothing wrong with the lens when I initially brought it in. So either I lied and must have dropped the camera again or the repair man didnt fix everything or something happened during the shipment back to the store from the repair guy in Muskegon. Those were the only logical solutions. Of course they assumed I lied and still charged for the repair. At the very least I was able to get the repair down to $125 dollars because they had no proof of what really happened to the camera either. But dont you think I would be EXTRA careful with my camera after I just spent $300 bucks on it to get it repaired??? If I would of only known the true cost of repair ahead of time why would I pay OVER $400 dollars for repairs when I could have bought a new camera for about the same price. The exact same model and lens. Since I already had around $300 into the repairs I didnt have much choice.Ive learned my lesson.. I will never get a camera repaired at Marks Photo ever again. They may be fine for other services, but for camera repairs Ill stay away.
Awesome service, did an awesome job on a photo for a funeral
The reason I went to Marks is because I needed an odd sized picture for a frame. They have a minimum of $10 for pictures so I ordered a larger picture of my deceased brother. And they messed it up! Probably wont go back. To far to drive.
Great camra shop.
Very helpful, all kinds of photo supplies
Great place to develop film.
