The Windy Saddle is a great cafe in downtown Golden! It’s the perfect place to go on a rainy day and chill out with coffee and a house soup. They make really great breads and smoothies as well! They’re also one of the only cafes I’ve been to with a designated children’s play area. Definitely a spot worth popping into while in Golden.
Absolutely love this place. Best cafe in Golden by far if youre looking for incredible breakfast burritos. Definitely the best cafe near you if youre here for a minute or if you live here. The coffee is incredible and the atmosphere is fantastic. Youre so fortunate to have this cafe and our little golden community.
I love this place. Great location and atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff. Menu limited, but what they offer is tasty. Great selection of coffee and tea drinks. They leave the door open so that does lead to flies.
Fun little coffee shop for good drinks and snacks in Downtown Golden. Outdoor seating is great and has lots of tables. Dog friendly.
1 hour limit on Wi-Fi, pretty wack
The breakfast burritos here are horrible. Tough and rubbery with minimal taste.
Great local coffee shop with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff and location are awesome. Go here instead of the national chain a couple of blocks away.
Excellent!! Great espresso drinks, we had the cortado, which was done properly!! Looks like the food is made from scratch. And the prices are not as crazy as the area, thanks God for that! Would definitely come back.
Fruit-only smoothies, breakfast, lunch, and coffee. Lots of comfy seating to get some work done. Need I say more?
Very good food! I ordered the spinach and mushroom quiche and it was cooked to perfection!
Just stopped in for coffee. The apple pie caught my eye. The coffee is solid, fresh and medium roast was as expected. Counter ordering was quick and efficient. The apple pie, however left a lot to be desired. The unpeeled apples were tough and chewy, and I may have gotten a cavity it was so sweet. Thank goodness it was micro sized, though the price in this case was a little much.
I went here with my mom for lunch, it was great. We walked all around Golden, and after seeing all the menus we ended here. She first found this place because of their delicious coffee. I got their brie, pear, chicken, and arugula sandwich - my mom got the quinoa bowl of the day. Heads up, it’s not the bowl of the day - they have that bowl every day, it’s pretty much on their menu. I don’t know what they call it that.I docked a star because despite enjoying the location very much, that quinoa bowl is a loser. The egg is supposed to be medium boiled - it was past hard boiled. There was supposed to be pesto throughout the bowl, it was clumped into a little corner of the quinoa and my mom had to mix it all herself. The actual bowl they put the food in is too small so you couldn’t really mix it, and even when you do mix it..not so much flavor. So I took a star away. However, that sandwich is delicious!Funny side note though, they say on the menu that the sandwich I had is served on ciabatta - but, it’s focaccia. I didn’t mind, just thought it was funny. Either they ran out, changed the menu and didn’t update, or don’t know what ciabatta is. Oh well! Still a lovely restaurant in Golden - recommend the sandwiches and coffee! ((:
A must do when in Golden! They have delicious food and thirst quenching beverages. The ambiance is also worth noting. Very comfortable!
They completely forgot about our order when we went there at 1:10 on a Saturday. We watched them serve the 4 groups that were sat after us. One group legitimately arrived half an hour after us and then they brought our food to go in a state of confusion only after we complained twice to the staff and then had to tell them that we ordered for here. Food was fine service was terrible they need to get it together with the staffing I hate to see what could of been a good place ruined by incompetence.
The food at this Café has never been disappointing! They have a great drink menu and the atmosphere is so cozy and nice!
Do come here with a small group of friends to socialize. Don’t come here if you’re hoping to work or use the internet for longer than 53 minutes.
Great Food, tasty coffee. Be patient, so good that there will be a long line.
Looooove the breakfast sandwiches here. Not a fan they stop serving them at a certain time instead of all day. They are the best thing on the menu
Awesome coffee place! We went to this place enroute to Boulder.Staff were welcoming and the ambience was warm.Tried their cappuccino and chai latte, the flavor was smooth and refreshing.Definitely needed this for our road trip!
The service was great and the place has a great vibe and all the food looks amazing! I had a 4 shot americano and it wasnt made with espresso beans it was very acid tasting so I didnt like my drink at all.
When one needs a pick me up and good biscotti while in Golden Colorado, windy Saddle is the spot to be. The have fast wi-fi, great desserts and conscious coffee.I found this gem in the late afternoon while looking for something sweet to eat and some energy. The vibe was low-key and the decor was interesting. If I lived here I could see myself being a regular.
A nice little Wisconsin-owned coffee shop. Delicious baked goods, smoothies, and coffee.
I ordered online for pickup and their tube was accurate and they made sure I had everyone that came with the order.
I absolutely adored this coffee and lunch spot! Brought about eight people and didn’t have trouble finding a spot on a Sunday. The spicy chai is great, as well as the toffee bars! I’ll have to go back for the quiche and say hey to the friendly baristas!
Picnic tables under big tents have been a saving grace for me and my family to be able to get out and have a change of scene at Windy Saddle. Great coffee, great baked goods, friendly staff. Currently there’s a little market of locally-made goods for sale in the area where seating used to live.
ON, WISCONSIN!It was great to step into the coziest little coffee shop on washington st. and see my school mascot and a photo of memorial union. The breakfast options are all delicious and great for a post hangover study session. There are lots of outlets and good wifi (limited to one hour!!) Ive never been unable to find a laptop-friendly seat. Definitely my new favorite lazy study spot.
Love all of their gluten free pastries!
Overpriced and service slow.
Middle State coffee is here finally!!! Lindsey is a terrific human and barista. Vibes are chill on weekday mornings.
Good food, friendly staff, cute atmosphere--Ive never been disappointed here!
Great place for coffee or lunch!Very friendly staff and the coffee is delicious. Sandwiches are great!
Very nice local coffee shop.
AMAZING service, excellent food!!
There are two staples that put Golden, CO on the Map: Coors, and the Windy Saddle Breakfast Burrito.
Amazing and friendly staff, great food and coffee. A must try when in Golden. Their fresh baked goods are delicious and it’s the cutest little cafe.
Coffee & food is so good. Friendly staff and nice calm environment. They had a spicy pumpkin chi and that was a nice change from regular pumpkin chi tea lattes. Highly recommend stopping in!
This is my favorite coffee shop in all of Golden. I have gotten many a post run smoothie here. There sandwiches are also great. I cant speak for their specialty coffee because the drip coffee is so good, I always get that! Staff is efficient and friendly!
Everyone wearing masks, place is clean, and staff is real friendly! Had ‘The Jerk’ wrap for lunch and the wife had the ‘Amitola’ wrap. Both were amazing and large portion sizes. Love the atmosphere here!
I love their pastries but they have the worst coffee ever!!!!!!
Good coffee, but THE BEST pork green chili. I’ll go just for that 🙌🏻
Yummy light food, great coffee and busy but still calm enough of a place to sit and enjoy with a friend. Plenty of seating, a nice nook in the back for kiddos to enjoy away from the calm of the rest of the place. Theres a sharing library of books (bring your gently used books here, they need more!) as well as plenty of places to set up comfortably to work on your project without interruption. Cant wait to visit again! If you love chai but need caffeine, try the chai charger. I also got the veggie croissant (although I do love breakfast meats and they cater to that too) and both were delicious.
This was a great place for my family and I to grab a quick breakfast before heading out to Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Their chorizo burrito smothered in pork green chili was amazing just the right amount of heat and great flavor. My wife had a delicious croissant sandwich with the best croissant Ive tried in a long time. I will definitely be back next time Im in Golden.
Don’t expect to get much done at this cafe. Wanted to settle in to enjoy some coffee and get some work done but they set a time limit on the WiFi that kicks you off so I ended up having to take my coffee and food to go which was frustrating since I only ordered food to relax there. The coffee and food is nothing special and would not recommend it.Updated: As you can see from the owners aggressive response below my review is accurate and you should not except to get much work done. A cafe in a college town in my opinion should be a place to relax and work not somewhere that kicks you out after a time limit and is aggressive especially in a time like this. That’s just my opinion though and is fine to ignore haha but I will be taking the recommendation and going somewhere else.
Favorite coffee shop in Golden. Everything off the breakfast menu was of high quality and tasted very freshly made. The specialized drinks were slightly different each time I’ve ordered, so the consistency was slightly dissapointing, overall I think the selection is great, and very high quality.
Awesome breakfasts and lunches
This place is a gem! Staff was very friendly and the cafe is chic and adorable. Inside the cafe felt clean with social distancing signs on the floor. Best breakfast sandwhich, so fresh and yummy! & the cinnamon coffee I had was perfect 👌🏼 we sat in the outside seating area. 10/10 place
Great breakfast croissants.
What a variety of baked goods, homemade soups and the best almond chia pudding Ive had in a LONG time! My first visit there for the Dinner Date for 2 special but will not be my last.
There was so much to choose from. It was delicious
Pleasant, historic vibe, good coffee and reasonable range of food - but why am I being asked to tip (generously) by default? (when paying by any sort of card). I order at the counter, need to come and pick up my coffee and food at the counter, plus please clear my own plates. Plus the minimum tip requested is 25%. Starbucks is not yet in on this unwanted national extension of tipping. Please pay your workers $15 + per hour, raise your prices and dont this worry your clients to supplement their wages. I like to support local - but sorry, I wont be inclined to come back.
Great people, great spot, great coffee.
I love owner operated companies like this. Great chai lattes & warm welcomes from the owner behind the counter.
What a gem of a coffee shop!
I LOVE Windy Saddlecand especially their PiggyFiggy sandwich! OM G!
This is one hoppin place, and for good reason: great pastries and lots of gluten-free options, with great sandwiches, and some great coffee! It was the perfect place to start off my mother-in-laws birthday celebration before heading into the Rockies to view the aspen.
Nice little cafe in Golden to stop by and grab a bite to eat. Open for breakfast and lunch, closes at 5. The sandwiches there are excellent, made with fresh ingredients and are very tasty. They also have beer and wine should you want to get your drink on. Its a cozy spot inside, not too big, but there is seating outside if the weather permits. If you have young ones, theres a small kiddie place in the back to keep them occupied. So if youre in the area, stop by and check them out.
Stopped in here on our way back down to Denver and the latte I had was one of the best pumpkin spice lattes I have had! The reuben was also really good! The staff was very welcoming and friendly! They even had some games you could play and books to read! Amazingly awesome atmosphere!! Will definitely stop in here next time we are in the Golden area!
Food and drinks are great! Weve gotten a number of things here and theyre always good. The environment is also great with relaxed music playing regularly, and great spots to sit and do work. The one thing that really sticks out like a sore thumb, though, is that, in the number of times Ive visited, not one employee seems to be happy to be there. Ive received lots of blank stares and short questions while Im ordering, with little explanation for how/where I get my drink when its done, and no thank you, smiles, or really anything. I mean theyre usually busy, especially on the weekends, so I get the stress, but just a smile here and there isnt going to kill anyone. There was a specific time that I ordered a drip coffee, I waited 15 minutes and nicely asked where it was, only to receive a stern we still are making the coffee. 5 minutes later my coffee was done, with no apology or recognition of its delay.Im not normally bothered by poor service, but the people working consistently seem like they dont want me to be there. This is unfortunate, because this place is otherwise cute and a nice place to chat and work.
Good coffee and coffee cake!
We were in Golden for vacation and stopped in while exploring. We really enjoyed the windy saddle cafe because it reminded us of a similar cafe we frequent in our hometown. The environment was laid back and enjoyable and the staff was friendly and helpful. We will definitely stop in again the next time we are near.
I’ve been here before, but I had forgotten about how many delicious gluten-free baked treats they had! My boyfriend, who is a gluten-eating dessert connoisseur, ordered the orange cake it it was really delicious. Moist with chunks of orange and the perfect amount of icing. The cappuccino and coffee were delicious as well!
Its a nice coffee shop. The atmosphere is inviting. They seem to make some good food although we only had a scone which was okay. They certainly got a good variety. Also they drinks have a good variety, and I even had a nice tea that was really good. The register with the little slow, and the prices are expensive. A coffee an iced tea and two scones $12 and change. To me thats expensive. but weve been there before and will probably go back or in the area.
The crossinats are incredible!!! The fruit smoothie not so much. But definitely recommend the place!
Their figgy piggy sandwich is so good. Great coffee too
I stopped in this place for a warm drink as we experienced the first snow day. I was immediately drawn in by the smell of coffee and the warmth in this place. They had really unique drinks, like nothing Ive seen here in Houston. I decided to try one of their specials and I was not disappointed. Please dont hesitate to try this place out, you will love it!
The windy saddle Cafe is one of my favorite places in Evergreen. They have very tasty Cafe style food, and absolutely fantastic coffee drinks. Its a little slow during busy times but the atmosphere, food, and drinks are second to none. I highly recommend this place because it is absolutely awesome.
Great place for coffee and breakfast
Good breakfast food and drinks for a good price! Had extensive cleaning procedures in place.
Great little place in Colorado. I had super fast service even though they were closing in 5 minutes. Tasty chai!Very warm and home-y vibe makes this place a great reading or writing spot. Love their book swap selection, but they might need some new board games ;)
Good food. Love the baked goods. Very clean and the employees are very kind.Atmosphere-music too loud. Need to put prices on the baked goods.
Friendly staff and great coffee drinks! Fun, western decor! Love this place!
I go here every day before work to pick up coffee. Staff are very friendly, polite, and helpful! There burritos are very good and they have the best coffee in Golden (in my opinion). I always bring relatives here after showing off Golden for a quick drink and snack!
Lively, friendly place located in the heart of downtown Golden on Washington Street, the main drag. Window seats and patio seats available to watch the passers-by. Its more of a high energy, slightly chaotic place than a quiet place to sip your java. Has a small play area with toys, perfect for toddlers. Good coffee and food, great friendly staff.
Very cool coffee shop. i was skeptical at first being its in the touristy downtown area but once i walked in that skepticism diminished. from the name I expected a wild west theme but its quite the opposite. the decor is what I would expect a coffee shop in Colorado to be, rustic, mix-match furnishings and students pecking away at their laptops. i had the meat quiche and an espresso both of which were great. they have a variety of sweet treats and a limited lunch menu all of which seem to be reasonably priced.
Awesome vibe, engaged staff, and great product! Thankfully went in during an off hour and found a place to sit down. Seems they are usually beyond capacity at busy times. Also have a neat kids retreat/play area in the back. Top notch!
Great food always
Great little downtown Golden coffee shop. Its rare now days to find a coffee shop in the metro are that doesnt reek of pretentiousness. The coffee here is just as good if not better than any too cool for school coffee house without being snooty about it. They have a great some no frills menu that achieves a simple flavors done well and its all delivered by smiling staff and friendly faces.
I had a breakfast croissant which was very good. Everyone was very friendly and service was efficient. Golden is a nice place to visit when you want to get away from Denver for a quick trip. Downtown Golden is very charming. Take time to read the history panels on the bridge. Very interesting.
