👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽Had engine rebuilt here,3yr. 36,000mile warranty$2400..great price,great warranty except I have returned it 4 times in less then 6months.. each time taking 2-3weeks to attempt to repair.1) Head gasket leak.2)Foul plug due to water in the head.3) Engine light on,not sure what the cause was but #4 cylinder.4)Engine light on again.Valve not seating..same cylinder as 3rd time.Between 2nd & 3rd time I replaced the water pump, radiator,coils,plugs. I changed the oil within 1000 miles after rebuild. Get what you pay for.My vehicle is there again as I write this..

My husband and I have been using Modern Engine for our old trucks rebuild project on several occasions and they have been very professional and have delivered us exactly what we needed every time.

I only purchased parts here but they really came through for me. I was having work done in Orange County. Mechanic assured me if I needed a part he could get it in one day. Of course the part was needed and now mechanic tells me part is a week out coming from Texas!! My vehicle is gutted with hours or work to reassemble. Searched and found Modern Engine and left message after business hours on a Thursday. I got a call back at 8:18 A.M. Friday morning that the two parts I needed would be at their business by 3 P.M. that day! AND was quoted a price 150$ less than the mechanic said parts from Texas would cost!I am just so pleased by the customer service and great prices.Thank you!

I highly recommended Modern Engine for machine work. I had to get a valve job done on my B20Z head for a restoration in my 1990 Honda CRX Si. Hector helped me out over the phone and quoted me a very reasonable price for the job. We bonded over the CRX platform and he told me of the adventures he had in his when he owned one. Gotta love the car community for that.As for the work, the valve job included hot tanking, sandblasting and resurfacing of the head. The head had bits and pieces of old headgasket on the intake side when I gave it to them and it came back like new. The job took 3 days, but I couldnt be happier with the results. I just wish I had taken some pictures to share with Google. Im sure when I get the head back on and timing set Im going to be very very happy. Thanks Hector and Modern Engine!

I dont know any good places but I know modern engine isnt one of them. We did everything and sum to keep engine cool and clean but 49000 in the head gasket went and blah blah blah they could cover it. Spend your 2400 else where

I only know Modern Engine through eBay. I had to return a part, and they have been great. Emails have been very helpful. No problems.

Nice & friendly ! But their ( engine) Mechanics don’t know what the hell they are doing.I’ve taken my car to them 3x and still has the same issue. Mickey Mouse jobs. temporary fix. Oh and you’ll definitely get your car back with scratches. My advice is go elsewhere and save yourself the troubles. Unfortunately I have the warranty of my vehicle with them. Hopefully 4x the charm.

Horrible experience. I would NEVER recommend. They will never jeopardize their profits. Even if it means blaming YOU for the problem.

THE WORST PLACE TO TAKE ANY CAR PERIOD. They have no idea what they are doing and cant meet deadlines. my vehicle was to be ready over 2 weeks ago but they have kept it. they replaced the problem with what they call brand new parts and apparently the brand new part was faulty. DO NOT TAKE YOUR WORK HERE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, extremely unprofessional and have no knowledge of what they are doing. Do your homework before you buy any warranty from these guys as they act like your friends but will take all your money.

I called 4 times (no exaggeration) and same woman answered the phone. She would put me on hold then hang up on me after 2-3 mins. I got frustrated so I decided to drive to them. I needed a car part and wanted to make sure they have it even though their eBay says the Glendale store has it in stock. When I arrived I was told they dont have it and it was in another warehouse. I wasted my gas and time time. Irritated because I could have avoided this if the calls were handled properly.

First impression: Five stars! Knowledgable, responsible, and honorable.The guys at Modern Engine have been true to their word so far. I had a classic 1970s Cadillac v8 500 rebuilt with them (a nice test of their skills, since the engine could hardly be considered modern). They also installed an aftermarket camshaft for me, which didnt phase them in the slightest.I had the engine installed by a separate shop because thats where AAA originally towed the vehicle. After a few miles test driving the newly rebuilt engine, we experienced an internal knocking. The installer advised I remove the engine and bring it back to rebuilder, so I brought the engine back to Modern Engine towards the end of business hours (5pm), they stayed open past 5pm to receive it, and told me theyd let me know their diagnosis the following day. Sure enough, I got a call from them the next day saying that I had some squeaked bearings, and Vahan asked me to bring in my oil pan and invited me in to see the internal state of the engine. Sure enough, there was some major damage to the pistons, and there will need to be some significant work to get the vehicle back on the road.Vahan took me through all the possible causes of the issue, and expressed his desire to ensure this doesnt happen again. He also said dont worry, we built it and we will fix it. Id recommend having them do the install for you if they do your rebuild, so that they can oversee the process from beginning to end.I believe they will stand behind their work and their warrantee. They certainly know their stuff, and looks like they have a huge volume of engines coming in and out, which suggests you can count on Modern Engine for their expertise or experience.Youve got to be wary of Google reviews for mechanics, good and bad: sometimes shops seed their google results with positive reviews, other times, its only the unhappy customers you hear from. I will update this review once the work is done and I get my vehicle back on the road and running, but as of now, Id say despite the haters, this shop has been dependable, fair, and willing to work with me to ensure a pleasant customer experience.

I have personally visited their warehouse and have purchased from this business several times. They have a massive inventory of everything an automotive professional or enthusiasts can ever want. I compared their price to other national competitors and their pricing was consistently lower across the board. With free shipping on all of their products, there is no reason I would go anywhere else. I wrote this review because I had the privilege to visit this establishment personally and am very confident in their service and products. I bought a wrong part, and so I spoke a person who told me one of the partner. He said returned it to get credit. The package returned to me saying their address is wrong, which was and still is the same as 701 Sonora Ave. Glendale, CA 91201.We are talking about only $5.00 something. Today I checked into their web page, and found out their web page is completely different which does not sell BMW part. This place is no good to shop.

Called a day before going for a table top engine and transmission rebuild. Next day, arrived (430pm) and was told that they can’t give me a quote (“the place is closed for a rebuild kit”) and that they can’t help me offload the drivetrain from my truck. Guy says, “you can leave it thou”. Really? Promised a call back the next day, they never called. I guess you guys didn’t want to take my money. What a waste of time...

The service is horrible. They dont give a damn even when u complain. A simple call you back in 2 min turns in the half a day. A job that should take 1/2 day turns into 2 days.

Took my wifes car there and service is horrible, horrible, horrible ....went in for one thing that should have been covered under warrenty and they found thier way around it and replaced simple things that were not approved to charge a few hours of labor. The customer service was horrible as well, never return your calls to explain what was wrong with the car, Had to physically go back out of my way missed work and demonstrate to still be brushed you off. Hated the service and would recommend that ALL dealers stop selling thier warrantys and dont let them hussle you. Your better off finding a good mechanic then this place. They say they dont care about the bad reviews because they service hundreds of cars a month from fancy dealers but that does not mean they provide good service. The girls that work there are horrible customer service and sooooooo unprofessional. I suggest everyone ger a REFUND!!!!!!!

The service sucks. I took my car because it was over heating and andrea the girl who works there told me that it was gonna take 3hrs to fix it. Its been a week and my car still at the shop. I dont think it takes one or two weeks to change the fun cluch and cooling module, and who know how many days more are they gonna take. that long time is not even to change the engine. Im so disappointed... these people are not professional at all.

I took my Toyota Supra to them a little over a year ago and they put in a rebuilt engine. In less than a year or so, the car unexpectedly blew a head gasket and they still wanted to charge me an arm & a leg to have it serviced.They never return calls and it took them four months to inform me that theyd finally finished the job. Another annoyance that they did not tell me about over the phone (you can hardly reach them anyway) is that they do not accept personal checks. Well, I wanted to pay with a company check (my company has been in business for over 25 years) and they wouldnt take it after Id paid for cab service to transport me there to pick up my car. They demanded cash only and they wouldnt accept any calls whatsoever to confirm my account over the phone with my bank manager. Instead, they had someone take me to a local branch bank to retrieve the cash in hand.Poor, poor service...the girl at the desk was not helpful or considerate and the manager was extremely rude...What can I say? Avoid this place like the plague!!!!
