Every single staff member I encountered at the store was friendly, helpful, and provided excellent support for me and my toddler during our visit. From the woman making our sandwich while I took a moment to decide what I wanted to another helping us find juice, to a kind man helping clean after my toddler dropped blueberries to the team packing our bags with a smile. So many staff to recognize that it is hard to name them all here. They can make anyone new to the area feel like home. This Publix is a store that seems like the pride and joy of the company! Love this Publix as my favorite go to grocery store!

I did a pickup for my sister. She wanted a few items from the salad bar. She has always raved about how FRESH their choices are. However, on that day when I did the pickup, things didnt look so fresh. I could tell the items had been sitting out for quite some time because they started changing color.😒

Very good soup (chicken noodle) always hot with lots of chicken chunks.

Clean and good service with plenty of selection. Prices are high on some items but same as other stores on others. If you know how to shop you can get by not paying too much more. Great seafood and meat departments.

Freshly made sub sandwiches, salad bar, sushi bar and a Starbucks. Talk about one stop shopping. Plus, theres a seating area where you can enjoy an in-store picnic. This is how shopping should be. I ❤ it.

Clean, great deli. I pick up salads for a quick lunch. They have English foods. Try the Bisto gravy. It is the Best.

I like it. Ive never found it excessively crowded. Its always well stocked. Parking is nice. The hours of operation are convenient.

Publix..I dont do most of my grocery shopping here because their prices are a little higher than other stores for some products. I mostly go here for particular items that I may not be able to find elsewhere or the quality is better. They have great fresh subs and salads and delicious fried chicken among other items at the deli. You can also find good prices on sales. Overall its a good grocery store.

This is my neighborhood Publix. The floors are always clean, the produce always looks fresh, the isles are never cluttered and the staff is pleasant and helpful when you need help. Also if you need to possibly order something theyre out of or you arent sure they carry a product, you can check customer service to see if the can get it instock for you.

I like Publix for groceries as an alternate. If I cant find what I want at my main grocer, I can usually find it here.For the locals: I dont shop here regularly because I fondly remember Ukrops, and Publix is not a replacement for Ukrops.This location is clean and well lit. Laid out so I can find things. They have several self-serve checkouts and a Starbucks!Some of the fresh food stuff was shut down for COVID and doesnt seem to have resurfaced yet - which is a shame. The salad bar was the major reason I went here.Still, easy access to 295, several stop lights on Brook Rd to get you in and out. Not a bad location.

This store is normally quite nice and the employees are great but this evening I had an issue with their deli department. After standing at the counter for several minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge that I was even there, one of the employees turned around and very rudely said “we’ll get to you when we can”. It looked like the two employees were filling some sort of orders. I stood there for a few seconds shocked at how rude this lady was to me. Her tone of voice sounded like I was a bother. All I wanted was some deli ham. In the future I will not go to this Publix when I need deli items. The Mechanicsville Publix has very friendly deli workers. I’ll go there instead.When I was checking out, I decided to go through a line instead of the self checkout like I normally do. The self checkout was busy and there was a cashier finishing up with a customer so I went through that line since it was quicker. I guess the cashier and bagger were too busy talking to each other to pay attention to how my items were bagged. I purposely put my non food items together on the belt so they could be bagged together. Unbeknownst to me, I came out of the store and the bottle of cleaner was in with food! This is why I like the self checkout because these young people today don’t understand that you don’t put cleaners and detergents in with food. When I was 16 I worked for Safeway as a bagger and we had to go to bagger school when we were hired. I think all grocery stores should do this because teenagers don’t have common sense to know what should be bagged together!

I love this place! They have great sushi. And they carry country ham that I cant get by me. Everyone is so helpful.

Publix has a niche in the grocery world. Its not going to compete on price with stores like Aldi or Lidl. But it offers clean stores, carts that glide, and a nice selection of brand names that are solid. Staff trip over themselves with all the help you could need. The ads say its a pleasure to shop there...and it is as long as you are willing to pay a bit more.

This is a great disappoint. They always mess up my order no matter what deli, bakery no matter what they just cant get right.

I only love coming there to get their promise farm strawberry milk. If they have it in a gallon, my dream would come true.

Store was empty hardly any people there then I noticed why Publix is expensive.

Overpriced and oddly stocked. Selection was poor considering the price points. They had sub par meat offerings in beef, chicken and pork. The cheese counter looks big, but isnt because it it stocked mostly major brand cheeses and the few real selections they have are common and overpriced. The beer offerings were not much better then a bargain chain (where they would likely be cheaper). I didnt spend much time in the wine isle but it was not overly impressive. I always check a few staples as I am walking down the isle and all that I noticed were overpriced. The produce section was probably the best part. It is spacious and had a decent selection, though far from impressive. Its a shame that they dont support union labor and I bet their employees cant afford to shop there even with an employee discount. Oh yes, cherry on top, I witnessed a manager that was being forced to stock product harass the other employees for needing to do their job like he was helping them out...TL/DR? Shop elsewhere this store is overpriced and inadequately stocked.

Outstanding customer service. Ordered sub sandwich online and received a text regarding a substitute on the bread. The sub was made to order w all my special instructions, excellent bread substitution, and efficient in store pick up. The store was clean and extremely inviting. Good job Publix!

Publix is always clean and well-stocked generally. The staff is usually polite and goes overboard to assist.Occasionally though youll come across someone whose attitude is just bad. And often there are no frozen dog bones available for weeks.

Well...this Publix is actually pretty good. like for instance this is the only place me and my mom go for some crab legs. and also the samples are very good i normally go for the cheese the the one that has the gourmet meal then anywhere else. but over all 4 stars oh and the Starbucks you get your grocerys and a Cappuccino 😛😌

The cashiers at the Starbucks in Publix are fantastic. They are super friendly and take the time to make you feel very welcome. The only reason Im not giving the location 5 stars is because of the poor attitude of the cashiers at the regular checkout. Im assuming they are just stressed out with everything going on. But, for the last few weeks, every time I have to use the regular checkout, they just come across as rude. I am hoping it gets better. When (not if) it does, Ill update this review.

I lived in Florida and have always enjoyed going to Publix, but they have really mess up here. EVERY single time we come it seems like they are severely under-staffed. The checkout line again today was so long I had to leave my stuff and go to a different store. Hate seeing this happen to a place selling such quality things. The easy part should be checkout. So sad to see this happening. Especially with so many people looking for work these days .

Living in FL most of my life, you can imagine my excitement when I was down in Richmond from DC and got to go to a Publix. The store looked great and spotless, but 2 thing s that frustrated me... 1. The lady at the sub counter made it seem like it was ah absolute chore to make my sandwich. It was 7 pm... Hard to think that at a dinner im the only one that wants a sandwich. 2. There were two ppl walking around w o masks and 1 employee with her mask not covering her nose. Not cool!

My husband and I just used Publix catering at Virginia Center Commons for a celebration of life service for my husbands father. We had an open house for 65 people and order all of the food and deserts from Publix. They did an outstanding job. The food was all delicious and the customer service was top notch. The day I placed the order, they called to confirm and ask if there were any other items from the store they could gather and have ready at the time of pickup. When I picked the order up. The Catering customer service representative took all items (3 full carts) to my vehicle and made sure it was loaded properly. The event we were having was going to be stressful enough and Publix went the extra mile to ensure the food portion of this event was very easy and seamless. THANKS TO PUBLIX VIRGINIA CENTER COMMONS
