Been in Fredericksburg for a week. The place and every store, brewery and distillery were awesome. Went into Trader Jacks on the way back to the car after Octoberfest I was looking at the handguns in the back and I asked the guy behind the counter a perfectly honest question. Do you have to be a resident of Texas to buy a gun?.. He said yes you have to be a resident. I said OK. Then he sneered at me and said you have to pass a background check. Well no kidding. My buddy said that wouldnt be a problem since between two of us there are about 60 years of law enforcement between us. He laughed and said Ive seen a lot of law enforcement fail a backgrounds. I dont know if the owners read these but if they do I hope the little p&$ck gets fired. Great store but gotta give it a zero for respect to our great law enforcement. Wish the little as&$0/e had to spend some time in my past shoes.

I really appreciate Jed, he is a saint. We came to Fredericksburg for day trip getaway. We had came into Texas Jacks Wild West Outfitter to look at vests and belts. I had left my purse when I tried on some boots. We walked to the car and I noticed I didnt have my purse. I ran back and checked the stores I that I had been. Low and behold, Jed saw me walking in like I was on a mission. I asked him if anyone had turned in a purse. He smiled and asked what color. It was my purse! He was so nice, never condescending. I thanked him. This could have ended in another direction. I so grateful that he has it behind the counter. Honest and helpful people are hard to find.

This is a great store! Especially if you are looking for period correct 1800s clothing and firearms.

Really good place to get Western clothing and accessories for your clothing. Good line of 1880 style firearms and leather.Jed is very professional, friendly and helpful. Also, you can get Arbuckle coffee ground or whole bean. A complete Old West shop for Hollywood or Old West cowboys and the ladies.

Very interesting place. The price for guns were very reasonable. The old man in the front desk was a bit salty though...like he didnt like visitors.

Worst experience as customer, the guy that was checking me out completely rude, normally is mean, I used to be returning customer until this last experience with this bitter man, owner should give more attention, in the past i was witness of his rudeness with other clients including me, but let that go since I like the store, I’m a local and he refused to apply the discount of locals, I ended up in canceling the purchase due his treat, Sr. I’m a lady, I don’t really need the discount I always purchased full price in the past, he became completely AH, hopefully the owner consider this and other reviews complaining about the customer service, this was longer story, people be careful at this place the employees wear pistols and i have seen them playing and treating against the clients, this is serious, those people become physical against the clients. Never going back, definitely my life and anyone else is in jeopardy just visiting that store, what bad but staff are dangerous, a lady was there too, she was the only one that seams kind, but that old guy 64 years old makes every client doesn’t feel welcomed. Cool selection of merchandise and clothing, but the old guy at the main counter is always so ridiculously rude that Im deterred to even go in anymore. He asked me once to pay for the vest that I was wearing which I not only purchased 6 years earlier, but even blacked out the embroidered logo, and then gave me a skeptical eye when I pointed this out. It would otherwise be my dream store.

Absolute, worst service Ive ever received! My husband is an avid gun collector, and asked a few questions, but he was brushed off. This was the highlight of his trip. We were dressed in shorts because of the hot weather, so maybe we were not cowboy enough for this place. Just extremely disappointed in how we were treated! We dont think we will ever go back again. We rarely post reviews, but felt strongly enough this time to do so.

Nice selection of hand made leather belts, holsters, vests, and other items. Texas made fire arms by Cimmaron. They also have jay hats, boots, books, and other western wear.

No masks required, or customer service either! Spent about 5 min in here before a group of 6 people walked in and asked if they had to wear masks. The man behind the counter smiled and said you’re free to do what you want when I’m here. Enter at your own risk. It’s unfortunate because they have the best selection of their kind in town.

I had heard about this place, just never quite made it in before today. I am so glad my first visit was too close to payday to be able to spend money. LOL!!! That way I have more time to prioritize my shopping here.The prices are a bit higher than your typical chain discount store, yet within keeping of your typical department store clothing. Considering what was available, the prices are quite reasonable.There are some good quality contemporary western clothes here. I am pleased to know you can still find this quality of apparel at a brick and mortar store.The period clothes of the old west though are exemplary. Well made of mostly period material. There were some polyester choices, but I found those acceptable since their silk counterparts would be have to be forbiddingly priced.I was however disappointed that most of these clothes were made in china.The available weapons were delightful. I fell in love with the antique side saddle that was still usable. All in all, a fabulous experience.

This is the BEST place in town. You cannot miss it, especially if you are looking for western and reenactment supplies. We went three times during our visit because there is just so much to this store. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful in getting you the best item for your needs. Prices are better than any other old west outfitter we have had to use, and you can try on before buying. We will be using them as our main source for interpreter supplies from now in. Texas Jacks is a great store and has great merchandise. When I called on 1/14 to ask about a price on a specific gun I was told by Jed that he could help me. When I asked about the gun he stated that he had to have the sku number. I asked him to look in the case since I didn’t have the sku but he just repeated that he needed the sku. Obviously he was not interested in helping me. Not the first time with this employee. Found and bought the gun at ACE.

This is exactly what i want in a western store. They have a great selection of unique clothes and western items. They also have a great selection of quality firearms at very reasonable prices. Ever other western store could take a few cues from Jack’s.

Customer service is horrible. The old geezer behind the counter and the sells people are hypocrites refusing to let customers in without a mask and then taking theirs off or down while other customers are still in store.

Customer service was horrible. Do not be a ffl dealer if you know nothing about it. As soon as I walked in I was first screamed at for not having a mask (which I am medically exempted) and then tried to tell the guy I need a gun sent back to a guest and the only thing he could tell me was I couldnt leave the gun there.

Visited today (9/5/20) and it was a very cool store. Nice selection of old west revolvers, lever action rifles, and sabers, as well as accessories.

Lost a Long-time local gun buying customer due to rude employees. I actually called a day ahead to verify they had a certain new firearm and said I would be there the next day to purchase. As promised, I arrived to buy. I compared a few pieces and began to purchase. The man behind the gun counter was civil at best. My daily debit card spending limit had been passed so it declined. I initially told them Id return the next day to complete the purchase. After I left I realized I could drop by the bank a block away and get cash out. I called Texas jacks phone number and told them who I was and that I was coming right back with cash to complete my purchase. All I got was, you got 4 minutes. After getting past the surprise of being spoken to so rudely, I said, well, never mind! I wont be going back. What a shame.

Id give a zero if possible. Very poor customer service. A sales rep was chatting with another customer but not about products in the store. While I continued to wait the same sales rep took a phone call. Meanwhile, another rep was at the register. They werent that busy so he should either have sent someone to help me or do it himself, time permitting.

Went to this store several times and bought a few items. Each time there was a man there which I assumed to be the owner. I noticed he rarely spoke and always stared at everyone, watching as if they were stealing. No doubt that happens but those of us that have never stolen anything don’t appreciate being treated that way. My last trip I intended to buy a new gun but the guy behind the counter was rude and not very knowledgeable. I left and bought a gun elsewhere. I feel no need to return to this place

Me and my wife have shopped at Texas Jacks.We were greeted right out of the shoot with a big Texas Howdy the staff is asome friendly I am a United States Navy veteran and yes they give Military discounts. I work at a Western clothing store in San antonio and some times were my ole style Cowboy clothes people ask me were I got them I tell them Texas Cactus Jacks Fredericksburg texas. Fun stop off the main street. Employees were super friendly. Lots of items to choose from knives, western wear for men, women and children, guns, boots and more. Quality leather and clothing. Not as crowded because its on a side street. Good prices especially for a tourist town.

I was a good customer until I purchased a Winchester rifle. I was told that it was sent to the factory to be redone. Shot it twice and a round jammed, they gave me the name of a gunsmith and Info no reply. So I went to San Antonio to another gunsmith he said the factory would not do work like that 120 dollars later its fixed all I got from the counter man was sorry, not what can we do to make it right. Ive purchased 6 guns from them and their will not be anymore amo or clothing or anything else bought from them if the powers to be would like to do something they have my number

Great store. Prices were the Best in townThough it was packed, the staff was not stressed but friendly. They sale knives, guns, clothes, leathery. I had a great time shopping, like most men i know, its not our favorite thing but keeps the wife happy. In this store i wasnt the husband in tow, i was the guy who had to see it all. We drove for 2 hours to get to Texas Jacks because we knew that they had quality gear that we could try on for old west re-enactments. We come here once or twice yearly, and have spent thousands of dollars in the past. We shopped for a long while, but we took longer than anticipated. We were rushed and one of the employees was quite rude. We were sternly reminded by a gray haired gentleman with a mustache in that “you have eight minutes” with no offers to help us locate anything we might need. When I brought this up upon checking out, we were met with insincere apologies and shuffled out the door. We left by the 6 pm closing time, and went through all of that just so they could make their closing time and not have to stay for any extra minutes. Won’t be returning. If I want bad service, I can shop via internet. That’s what I’ll be doing from now on.

Lots of neat hats and clothing..very overpriced! I always enjoy visiting this store.... but the clerks are not personable...act like you are bothering them. I spent just under $100....no Thank You or come back soon.... I will go back... they do have merchandise that interests me... but just dressing up in period dress, doesnt make them cowboys!

My husband leaned on the glass counter and the entire thing collapsed, pouring coffee beans everywhere! Very cool merchandise too!Dejah, be sure to plan ahead and abide by their closing times. I would never expect for any merchant to stay late for me.Rowan, the Confederate Flag is part of our history. It has it’s place and should be remembered, lest we make the same mistakes again!

It’s a cool store, most staff are friendly there’s a couple that act arrogant.I bought a new Colt Walker and the cylinder doesn’t turn smooth (It takes a second hand to turn the cylinder). I don’t live in town so I couldn’t return it. Be cautious if you purchase a firearm, it may end up being a very expensive paperweight.

This is a really cool store with awesome western-themed products. They also have an excellent selection of Cimarron firearms. From what I understand they are the storefront for the Cimarron company. Also a knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Me and my 4 year old daughter were shopping for clothes and this lady came up to me and was yelling at my daughter I was like what and she said that my daughter was poking at clothes with her finger she kept arguing with me then I got the manager and he said that kids under the age of 6 wernt aloud in the store then the lady started to argue with me and my daughter was crying the whole time cause the lady was cussing at her so I wouldnt recommend this place😡
