I was impressed by all aspects of Affordable Automotive’s operations. Repairs were made in a timely manner. Customer service was exemplary.

After taking my car into the dealership for mainly some computer issues (electrical?), along with repair of front passenger lock, brake issues and general servicing, I was shocked at the cost of these repairs. They also told me about an issue with my tailgate which had never shown a problem. A friend referred me to Affordable Auto and boy, am I glad !!! Never, have I ever had such great service on anything before meeting these guys. James paid such attention to detail and was extremely personable and attentive. Everything was fixed and I feel like my 10 year old car is like brand new !! With only 69,000 miles on it and the perfect auto repair place to take it to for service, I am so happy !!!! And by the way, they checked and double checked the tail gate and found nothing wrong with it. Honesty abounds. And it truly IS Affordable Auto Care.

Horrible customer service and quoted close to the max for simple repair that can be completed within the hour. service rep: Matt is rude and came across very aggressively before even getting checked in. Did not feel comfortable at all and had my car towed elsewhere. I cannot speak on how well the team works however I definitely didn’t feel comfortable confirming any work to be done after the first few conversations.

After paying over 1800.00 for a/c compresssor and leak test my fan blower didnt work correctly after leaving shop. I went back to shop 5 minutes after receiving vehicle and explained to Mathew maybe tech had a vacuum hose on wrong. He wasnt to interested in hearing anything i said but kept referring to a part that might be the problem and it was a Ford motor issue not Affordable Auto . Terrible customer service if this how they treat there customers.

I’ve been looking for an auto maintenance home for awhile now and I’ve finally found one at Affordable Automotive. They helped me get my personal vehicle squared away and let me know of several things that I should look to get fixed in the near future but didn’t push me to spend a whole bunch of money right then. They do a thorough inspection labeling things as GOOD, THINGS THEY SUGGEST YOU GET DONE EVENTUALLY, AND OFCOURSE THINGS THAT ARE VERY IMPORTANT AND OR NEEDED TO PASS AN STATE INSPECTION. All of the staff are hands on and dedicated to their company. The Manager James and Matt at the front desk are Awesome! If you are looking for good work, reliable mechanics, and good communication, you’ve found it!

James and his team at Affordable Automotive have been servicing my cars for the past several years. We have Japanese and American manufactured vehicles and trust them to maintain as well as fix them whenever needed. Whether it is an oil change, squeaky brakes or an electrical issue on my driver door panel - they can get the job done professionally and at a reasonable price. I have gone to other mechanics in town but have realized that Affordable Automotive is the most honest, reliable and affordable garage. I trust them with the maintenance of my cars. They are good people.

Came in after running over an object on the interstate. The shop took my car in and had me back on the road in less than 30 minutes. If I lived in Fredericksburg theyd be my preferred shop to take my car!

I took my car in to be checked because It was misfiring. I told them I already knew which cylinder was misfiring, but they insisted they had to run there own diagnostics, so I said that was fine. They ran the diagnostic and it came back exactly what I had already told them prior. So he told me how much it would be to fix my ignition coil. I said that’s fine I’ll pay the price. He informed me they didn’t have the ignition coil they needed for my car in the shop, so they would have to order the part and as soon as it came in they would change it and give me a call. The following day they called me and said everything was fine and that I could come pick it up. I was informed that the ignition coil had a 3 year warranty on it if anything were to happen to it.I picked it up and within a few days my car was still doing the same thing (Misfiring), so I called the shop back and asked if they could check it again to see if the ignition coil they had put in was faulty. They checked it again and said they didn’t see anything wrong with it. I’m like well why is it still misfiring? That doesn’t make sense if you guys just replaced the ignition coil and I had previously changed the spark plug.. so basically they couldn’t give me an answer as to why it was still doing the same thing. So I took my car and left.Within a few days of me taking it back the second time my check engine light comes on! I called back to see if they would check it again. Because something isn’t making sense. I paid you guys money to fix my car and it didn’t get fixed. It actually got worse. Because my check engine light wasn’t on before I brought it in and within 2 weeks of them “fixing it” my check engine light was on..I took it back and the guy ran the scanner on my car and told me it was now the same cylinder and another one that was misfiring. Told me that his mechanic didn’t want to keep running codes on my car because he wasn’t getting paid for it, so he went ahead and did it for me.... why would you tell a customer that? When they just paid you there hard earned money to get something fixed and the car isn’t fixed!So now he asked if I wanted to get the other 3 changed. That I could change one ignition coil at a time if I didn’t have all the money to do it at once. I said no. I’ll have to get someone else to fix it because I’m not paying you guys more money to fix my car when that should’ve been recommend from the beginning, so I would’ve paid one set price and not two different prices. I ended up having to spend additional money to get my car fixed outside of what I paid them at the shop.Always call around and make sure you do your research before you take your car somewhere to be fixed.

Took my 2012 Hyundai Elantra there to repair some power steering and electrical issues that my previous mechanic had caused while working on something else. They did what they promised and in a timely manner. I was very impressed and will definitely use them again when the time comes.

Have used this repair shop numerous times in the last couple years because they have a great customer service due to Matthew and James. The repair and replacement work is spot on especially when it comes to general maintenance like brake jobs. I recommend using this shop. My last visits although seemed rushed. We had a tech there replace our alternator. We were aware of check engine light and at the last couple times should of had them check for codes and do a full diagnostic. After replacing the alternator the car AC no longer works. Was told they needed to disconnect the AC line and recharge the AC system to remove alternator. After doing my research its not necessary to do so to remove alternator in our car. It was just easier and faster to do so.Took the car in for a diagnostic, the AC apparently wasnt something even considered checking. Appreciate the fast service but perferred them to take as much time as possible to make sure everything was working. It was my fault for not checking before leaving the shop. Was told there was a radiator leak although after receiving the car back all within a week the invoice showed there were no leaks and the car ran as designed. Which was weird wording which told me something was wrong.Update: Shop didnt put Freeon into the AC dissapointng

I don’t give out glowing reviews often. That said, I can’t compliment or recommend the service and attention to detail from Affordable Auto Repair! I just had a state inspection and oil change today that were completed quicker than I believe I have ever received. I thought they had texted me the pre inspection report to my phone as I was sitting in the waiting area, but they confirmed that I was ready to go! I hadn’t planned to do the oil change but had enough time that I asked them to go ahead. They had that done almost as quick! After years of dealing with garages that always push for more work, the low pressure service professional assistance is a breath of fresh air. If you need service. Make this your first and only call!

Made an appointment for an oil change & brake flush. Was waiting for an hour only to see that they didnt even bring my car in because they were too busy working on another car and the workers were messing around and not working. Decided to just get up, asked for my keys and left. For sure not coming back to this affordable shop.

Prompt and good service. I broke down on I95 and the towing company (Michaels Towing - also good) recommended Affordable Auto. Knowing I was travelling, they looked at my truck as soon as possible and had it fixed at a reasonable price as soon as they could.

Car taken in for a diagnostic on AC system for $175. Was were told issue lied in a hose that was leaking would be $300 to repair. Got call hose was repaired but they found another issue. The leakage destroyed the AC compressor which needs to be replaced along with new valve and some other part which would cost $2300. Now the compressor is a part of the AC unit so if you are diagnosing problems would that not be checked as well and explained initially? I understand there are things you cant see until you get into the guts of the car but the compressor is easily visable when you pop the hood & it should of been examined. Especially when employees were told it had to be replaced a year prior. Basically spent $500 on a new toilet only to be told you need a $2300 plumbing system AFTER the toilet is installed. Positives: the young man working was very polite informing us about the issue, they sent photos of what they said the issue was, and the work was done relatively prompt. I just genuinely wish a more thorough job was done in the beginning so I wouldnt have wasted my money or could of priced repairs with other people.To spend $500 & still be without air conditioning.

Came in top find out the manager was not only the one I spoke with on phone, butt also works on cars. Got my marker light fixed at low reasonable price quickly and waited about 30 min at most. I went here for a state inspection during COVID, and they did a great job! They pointed out that my tires were getting old, and even sent me close-up pictures showing evidence of dry rot. I appreciate their use of technology to communicate to their customers whats going on. :-)

After getting an estimate at another place, I called Affordable Auto to get a simple estimate over the phone. I told the guy I needed a basic tune up and the coil pack on the #6 cylinder replaced, he said I should really get all 6 done at the same time (which would be like $1000 more), and that the #6 cylinder was in the back and hard to get to on my car which added to the cost. I know for a fact that it is in the very front. He is either lying or wrong, trying to get me to pay for more services. He sounded annoyed and told me I dont know what youre fishing for... just trying to shop around and compare prices... HARD PASS.

This has to be the best shop in Fredericksburg/spotsylvania. Always professional and get things done correctly! Have been going to them for years and would recommend any other place! Go to Affordable and they will take care you!

Ive shopped around for the best repair prices, that also have quality work, and good customer service. Affordable Automotive definitely has all of these qualities. They are usually able to give you a ride to work or back home, if you live close by theyre shop.

What I like about Affordable Automotive is that I can come in without an appointment whenever I need to. I have to wait some, but it is never too long. The work they do is lasting--they dont fix it and then next month you have to come in and do it all over again. The employees are all very friendly and polite. The cost of the repair is reasonable.

I took my car in for state inspection at the end of the month, and they completed it the same day. Since my car failed, they took pictures of the issues and sent me a detailed report via text message.One of the things my car needed to pass was new tires. They had no problem with me taking my car elsewhere to get them cheaper, and were not pushy regarding the other potential issues my car had.Very good place to go. I will be going back!

Update 11.21.19I am pleased to update this review as i stated i would. I received a reminder call from James, the service manager, to bring my vehicle back in to determine the cause for my engine light to be on. I thought this was definitely considerate for a place to remind a customer to come back under these circumstances. So i took my truck back plus my daughters car back on Tues and by this morning i received a call from James with the solution for both. They identified my issue was a heated O2 sensor and replaced it at no additional cost to me...though they may not have caused the issue...which was understood given the details as to how this sensor would need to be replaced. They checked my daughters car and the codes that registered were for cylinders 3 & 2 and a random cylinder (of i explained that correctly). James does a fabulous job of explaining all of these things very patiently. Nonetheless, he said they checked for oil leaks and gaskets and did not see any leaks. Saw she was 2 quarts low on oil and in need of an oil change. So we had them change the oil for us both. I got my vehicle back today and the engine light is out! The maintenance light is out and it drives like new....really! I can feel the difference in the drive!! We left my daughters car for an alignment that was already needed and a tire mount and balance. They were able to get my daughters car squeezed in today and left the car for our convenience to pick it up after hours in their drop box! I would highly recommend Affordable Auto to anyone and especially women!Took my 05 Lexus RX330 for inspection and it failed. Matthew was informative and helpful and notified me via phone and email with pics of what failed including a listing of what passed and any recommended maintenance. I do like that service (having pics). I proceeded with allowing them to make the repairs including front disc brakes n rotors, stabilizer sway bar, exhaust hanger, headlight bulb, front headlight restoration, license plate bulb, and alignment! $2228....over $900 was labor alone. They provided a loaner car....which was a really old (maybe 80 or 90s model) Ford Explorer 2 door....but thought it was a nice gesture of them to offer. When i got my vehicle back in just a couple days I thought it drove smoothly, but a little smoke was coming from my hood after i drove off. They told me to bring it right back. I did. They said it was from a solvent that was sprayed on the vehicle due to rust prior to repair. They drove it and let it run off and cleaned it as well. The smoke subsided. Later that same day on my way home, however, my engine light was now on and another indicator light VSC (not sure what that is). I called them again to ascertain why this would be. They acknowledged that it wasnt on prior when i dropped it off, but would be happy to take a look and told me i could bring it back in. I shared that it was concerning that my engine light had never come on before and with my first time allowing them to make repairs....i get my vehicle back with the engine light on. Whats so uncanny is my daughter took her vehicle the following week (just a few days ago) to have a tire plugged and when she and i picked up her vehicle today (Sun 11.17.19) her engine light was also on. It had never been on before either. I had her call and let them know. I do hope that there was no foul play and that Affordable Auto Repair is not taking advantage of their female customers. Between my daughter and myself we have 3 vehicles we have consistently taken to Affordable for inspections. I thought Id give the repairs a try. I will follow up with a post with the outcome of our visit regarding the engine lights for both our vehicles.

James greets you fast and is friendly. Busy shop. Lots of regular customers. Clean shop. They have protective floor mats to keep floors clean when mechanics get in car. Just got inspection. Comfortable waiting lounge.

Buyer beware!! Youll see a $0.00 charge on your estimate and bill. While it appears to be a complimentary line item for lifetime coverage on parts and labor for your repairs. However, when you bring a noticable defect back after a year, theyll gladly inform you that you misread and misunderstood because that $0.00 means that you didnt actually buy their lifetime warranty and as such youre only covered by their default warranty which has conveniently just expired. Theyll also dodge the question why they didnt notice the issue in the intervening state inspection. Finally, their quote (with veteran discount) is two times more expensive than the quote from a dealership that found the uneven brake wearing. Pohanka - $275 Affordable - $550. Just saying.

Okay price for an oil change. They have free WiFi which is a nice touch. The location isnt that great and its sort of hidden from view. Though they pretty much check everything including brakes and other fluids. The guy at the front desk is professional, knowledgeable and friendly.

This is a great place to bring my truck.. they are always nice and friendly with helping me with fixing and answering my questions. I recommend this place to all my co- workers and friends. Thanks guys keep up the good work

So after a most horrific experience a few days ago at RnR wheels and tires of Fredericksburg I wasnt sure I could trust someone else with another one of my vehicles. I have driven. By this place for years and never used thier services. Today was the day. Customer service was very satisfying. I was called with updates of what was going on per my request. Nothing was done that I didnt already approve and the price wasnt to hateful. And they didnt try to sell me other services. So to recap they did everything I requested be done, It was done in a very timely fashion, The price wasnt bad, and they were professional and friendly. Highly recommend these guys. will visit again soon.

Affordable Auto was referred to me some five years ago. What a gift that referral has been. I tell them that they are the next best thing to Dad-care. The have given me excellent service at a price that leaves money on the table for other important areas of my life like ... animal rescue! Speaking of animal rescue ... one day I was rushing to an adoption event and noticed I had an almost flat tire. I ran to them and they rushed to get me and my pup road-worthy. After the dealer gave us a huge estimate for repairs, Affordable Automotive Repair reduced the issue list and even fixed those items at a much lower price. We ended up spending less than half of what the dealer wanted to resolve issues that kept bringing the check-engine light on. Repair was done in the time they gave us. Only issue was method of contacting Affordable Automotive Repair seemed to have failed so we had to repeat the process once we got on site explaining the issues and appointment given us.

Affordable Automotive is not affordable! They estimated repairs on my car $2125 this included a 10% discount. I found another Fredg garage for the exact work, warranty, etc at $1355. A $770 savings!!! And they did an excellent job. I had a timing belt total kit replacement with coolant flush and water pump, new belts etc, front brakes and rotors replaced, tune up with replaced spark plugs, and a 4 wheel alignment done. What a joke AA charges this much!! Ill never go back, and Im referring all my friends and family to this garage I used. Bye, bye AA!!!
