Ben walked me through each kayak and the pros and cons of each. Helped me with paddle length as well. Bought the old town vapor angler at a competitive price. Knowledgeable and polite, will go back to them in the future for any kayak needs.
A few years ago, Ryan helped me try out a few kayaks, basically in his back yard area of the Allegheny River. One was way too high, one was too small, and one fit just right. My kayak: Riot Stealth ES with a skeg.Ive bought all my gear at Wiegel on the Water: dry bags, life vest, storage containers, paddle gloves, a whistle, and... I know this will make him laugh... a few paddles (cos I keep losing mine).Wiegel on the Water is the ONLY place I buy my kayaking gear!!!
Forget the big box sporting goods stores. You want to go see Ryan & Ben at Wiegel on the Water. These guys take personal service to the next level. They actually *care* about their customers and making sure you are happy with a product that meets your unique needs.A good example on their level of care and attention to detail:I purchased some cheap kayak racks for my car online. Adequate to do the job, sure. But when we went out to load up my new, first kayak, Ryan & Ben noticed immediately that the bolts on the carriers were too long and would tear up the roof of my truck. The guys at the big box stores wouldnt have even checked.I cant say it enough. Go see Ryan and Ben before to buy your next kayak or canoe.
Ben is very knowledgeable about equipment and accessories. We highly recommend going to Wiegel for all your kayaking needs.
The owner took the time to talk to us and was wanting to understand what we wanted. He was personal and very knowledgeable. The other staff was polite as well. It was an enjoyable time finding out the information we needed to find out.
These guys went above and beyond showing me how to attach my new canoe to my car and provided straps to do such at no cost.
They took great care to help me compare and find not the most expensive but the best kayak for my needs. Patient, knowledgeable, and friendly people. Ill be back for a trailer as well. Theyll save you money in the long-run over the big box run around. Get the right products and information the first time here, and then get out on the water.
Friendly helpful people with a selection that is much bigger than I expected. Good prices and not pushy in any way. Give them a shot if you are in the market for a kayak. Lots of gear as well.
Very informative and helpful in planning our custom trailer! Great customer service!
Outstanding staff. This past year our floating gang purchased three one man canoes and a trailer from Ryan. This Christmas I decided that I wanted one as well. I fell in love with a friends Old Town Next, and after doing some research, we followed our friends advise and called Weigel on the water. The price was very good, as was the service. Very knowledgeable, professional no pressure approach to selling.Plus, I prefer to support small local business..... the big box stores cant compete with a sound independent.
Ryan and staff were excellent. They are very knowledgeable without pressure. Its worth the drive to purchase your kayak/canoe/fishing boat from them. Ben helped us load and reorganize our kayaks.
Super helpful owner, left with 2 kayaks and everything else needed to get us started.
I ordered a Native Ultimate FX Tandem from Wiegel on the Water. The kayak was in perfect shape upon pickup and they were happy to help me get it up on top of my vehicle and secure it. They offered helpful suggestions (mounting my kayak upside down directly on foam noodles on my crossbars instead of on a Thule carrier, tiedown tips) that made my extended trip with the kayak a breeze.Im very happy with my kayak, but I wont hesitate to order from Wiegel in the future when I want another. As a bonus, if youre coming from a distance, theres a nice riverfront park a block away thats perfect for kids to picnic and/or play at while you pick up your kayak(s).
I had a really good experience buying my first kayak here. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and I ended up getting exactly what I wanted which turned out to be a Necky Looksha 14. They carry a wide variety of kayaks, anything from base line models to top of the line, so your sure to find something no matter what your price range is. They also carry what ever accessories you might need. I highly recommend Wiegel on the water, I know I wont buy anywhere else.
Awesome experience. Many thanks for getting us set up and in our kayaks. Highly recommend.
Franklin is truly blessed to have this place with their expertise and quality. Fits well with our location on the Allegheny.
Great guys.. enjoyed the visit.. hope the kayaks are as much fun as the guys were!!!!
Debbie Wiegle and Kneal Wiegle are very helpful and friendly, very knowledgeable too and will give you very good advice. Highly recommend purchasing a boat there.
The staff at Wiegels is incredibly helpful and responsive. Great place to get all your paddling needs.
