Love this place but will not be going back. It’s such a small place and not one person wearing a mask. Don’t want my kids or my family taking on a public health risk.
This is the kind of place where you can spend hours searching for books you never knew you needed or wanted! Many first editions and rare books along with wonderful selections by southern authors. Comfortable spaces where you can lounge and peruse your selections. Quaint and funky and fun! All in a fabulous old building with as much character and drama as all the inventory. A must-stop in Franklin!
Explored this cozy meandering book store recently and found it hard to leave. Charming, inviting, warm and friendly are just a few words to describe the place. Put your phone away. Find any book. Read the paper. Sit in a comfortable chair. Theres history here. Dont miss it.
Great bookstore with a great selection. Fair prices if a little bit high for the used selection. Will continue to return whenever Im in Franklin to see what they have!
I have always wanted to visit this shop but never had time so we took time and it was awesome! We bought several books that were somewhat hard to find and enjoyed the conversation with the gentleman that ran it.
My book club read The Bridge by Karen Kingsbury so we took a field trip to the bookstore. It lived up to our expectations. So many books and the staff loved the notoriety due to the book. Very nice people.
Great variety of new & carefully curated used books. Many of the used books are collectible first editions/signed. Specializing in southern lit/history or southern authors. Highly knowledgeable, literate staff. Nicely presented. Park on R side (facing bldg).
As I am a bibliophile, a friend highly recommended we check out this shop. To be honest, I wasnt impressed. The shelves are so disorganized, and so when the proprietor asked if she could help me find anything, I asked where the poetry section was and if she could recommend any Tennessee poets for me to try. Her reply was that she doesnt really get poetry and they dont really carry poetry beyond a few textbook examples like Whitman and Wordsworth. A bookshop without poetry was an immediate turnoff and made for a disappointing visit.
Magic! From the location to the visual to the owners and Joel to the sweet story and their claim to fame!
Always a 5 out of 5 experience there. First editions galore! Hands down the best book shop in middle Tennessee. Were lucky to have them in Downtown Franklin.
Such a unique bookstore! Love the mix of old and new!
What a cute little book shop! We spent about an hour perusing books and chatting with the employees. Very friendly service and wonderful selection!
Awesome selection! Great owner! Beat bookshop in the Nashville area!
Friendly staff, warm and inviting environment, and an incredible selection of both new and second hand books. Small independent bookstores such as this one are an American treasure, and unfortunately are also a rare breed these days. Please support this wonderful place!
The owner came and greeted us. Such friendly people. Love the store. I could have browsed all day.
Love a bookstore. Friendly helpful people
Well curated selection, loved the kids room.
Great selection of Southern lit and awesome atmosphere
Like a Barnes and Nobles. Book heaven
An amazing selection of books- new and old. Home of the finest leather bound book shelves Ive ever perused.
Big selection. Welcoming staff.
Such a little treasure fill with brilliant wonders.
I love this bookstore, I get most of my books from them now. They have nice selections and the childrens room is amazing.
Cute store. Great to visit small town bookstore like the days of old. Owners were very nice
What a pleasant place to spend 30 minutes or a few hours in. The store goes pretty far back and is separated into different rooms giving it a personal and comfortable feel. It has character just like the books. They also carry old newspapers and maps. Even some old photographs. I found a small room in the back that was a bit out of sorts, but I enjoyed that room the most. I found some interesting books back there on just about everything. Although I was not able to buy anything this visit (I was traveling from out of state of didn’t have the luggage space) I hope to get something next time!I believe I met the owner as well. Or at least I met a very kind older gentleman who seemed like he was in charge. I would have loved to talk with him more, but I was already walking out to door and headed to the airport.
Great selection of classic, new and used books. Quaint building, friendly helpful staff. A must visit for bibliophiles!
Was like i step into Karen Kingsbury books
One of the most friendly and inviting spaces in Franklin. Great selection and kids section. We look forward to going here weekly.
Such a glorious find in Franklin! This bookstore is packed with historical books, childrens books, local lore and more with sweet reading spots tucked away. I could easily get lost in a book here.
Beautiful little bookstore and very helpful employees!
The owner and his wife are welcoming and so helpful. The shop has a delightful childrens section with some beautiful vintage books. Also worth noting is the collection of Southern writers, including many signed editions. There is an incredibly comfortable trio of leather couches where you can relax as you look through a book.
Great place to browse books!
Such a sweet little place FULL of books. Special copies and some very old copies. Definitely going back.*Restroom available*
Very cute used book store
This is hands down the best used bookstore I have been to. It has buy two and get a third book free sales on the holidays, an impressive collection of Southern literature especially, and a knowledgeable and amiable owner.
We have bought many books from Landmark and love all of our trips here. Very friendly store with great staff and and awesome selection.
I mean, it’s alright... pretty narrow selection, certainly a franklin bookstore. seeing as it is an antique bookstore most of their stuff is fairly expensive. slim poetry section and nothing especially out of the ordinary.
Super neat bookstore in a house. Anything you can imagine, emphasis on southern authors. LOTS of learnings and first prints
Awesome bookstore.
Clean store, good selection of books. Couldn’t tell where the new ones started and the old ended. Some of the prices were a bit high, but the shopkeeper was very nice. Worth the stop.
Unique fascinating place to get lost in for an hour or too. Small and intimate, several rare items. Very boutique. This place is supposed to haunted, ask them about it! Worth a peek. Im sure you will find a treasure in here. Dont go in carrying a drink, they find this disrespectful and I dont blame them. Plan to come in without that in your hand.
Highly recommended for all the book worms going through or visiting Franklin Tennesse. The owner is a real stand up guy very intelligent and a great conversationalist. We come from New Orleans twice a year and come visit the shop. They have a little of everything you can imagine. 5 Star Place. Not to mention its SUPER COZY ........
This place is very cool, with a nice selection of books. Lots of topics, and since its Franklin, theres a nice selection of Civil War stuff, especially the Battle of Franklin. All very nice.It is a little on the expensive side. Its not crazy, but its also not the value that McKays can be. There is a special area in the back, with lots of books stacks up on tables, where you can snag a good deal, but be prepared to do a lot of searching. If youre in Franklin, this is a nice little addition to the downtown scene, and the neighborhood would feel something missing if it werent there. If youre a book-lover, this is a good choice.
Incredible selection. Organized and easy to find your favorite topics. Owners were extremely knowledgeable and SO friendly. I highly recommend you stop here!
A super cool place to get books from southern authors or even rare finds. If you like history this is the place for you. The lady at the front is nice, Informative, and welcoming.
If you cant find a book here, well, you arent looking. Owners are awesome! Got a super book on mythology that i loved. You can get my novel here now as well.
Joel and Carol were so friendly and knowledgeable. Tons of books old and new, nice reading areas for adults and children. We will definitely be back again.
Well worth the visit. Incredible collection of books and Southern lore, the owner Joel Tomlin is friendly and knowledgeable on local histories. The venue itself is historic for being the place where figures like Andrew Jackson, Sam Houston and Davy Crockett all sat together. Dont miss it if you pass through Franklin, TN
Neat little bookstore with a great vibe for those who just love books. Many beautiful older books and several newly bound classics. In the back they have a perfect example of an office/library every book lover aspires to have one day in their home. Worth the stop!
I could spend hours in this place
This is the most delightful store that Hallmark has made a movie after the lovely couple who own it.
Lots of unique and first edition books. I could have stayed there longer. I wish they had mooted books Davey Crockett and used books on Andrew Jackson.
A wonderful place to look at or for books. A childrens room offers the opportunity to read from old and new books to kids. Very layed-back. I could spend many hours here!
In the past they have been very helpful in obtaining books they dont have available. It was even a quick turnaround. But today she didnt even make a gesture to help.
Super friendly customer service and a great place to find first editions of books!
Loved the history of this place, and the current selections are awesome! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Enjoyed a great browse and finding a new author!
The owner was very accommodating, answered things of questions, gave me additional information about local landmarks. If you like bookstores, you should definitely visit this one again your in Franklin Tennessee.
Loved the friendliness of the couple working. They helped me find what I needed for a work assignment. Such a cute local bookstore.
Nothing like a comfy bookstore! The owners were really friendly as well.
This was a cool spot. They had a lot of 1st edition signed books. Was a little disappointed that their fiction section was boxed up due to reorganization, and the employee wouldnt allow is to look through the boxes... which is understandable but still disappointing.Would come back solely to browse their fiction section.
Really cool and rare books. I love the way it smelled.
Special place in Franklin
A must-stop when visiting Franklin.Read (and buy) local. A real bookstore, where the owners run the register and have put their hands in every volume they sell. Deep southern authors and local authors selections, as well as Civil War histories, biographies, etc.New and used books, incredibly comfortable and plentiful seating ... the kind of pkace I never go with buying something. Now I just have to make more time to get in there.
A nice, quaint bookstore housed in an historic building in downtown Franklin, TN. Owners Joel and Carol Tomlin are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. They sponsor book signings and know many of the authors whose books they sell. Their inventory includes a wide variety of books on many topics with emphasis on Tennessee, Civil War, the South, and local history. I bought three books I was very pleased to find. Keep in mind that this store has a number of one-of-a-kind books some of which are rare and expensive. Its not your typical Barnes & Noble box store where you can pick up something and expect the employees to put it back where it belongs. If you like small, independently owned bookshops with a lot of atmosphere and character this one is definitely worth visiting.
The perfect place to find that gift for the person that has...almost everything.
Outstanding book seller. Great selection, highly knowledgeable owner. Fine selection.
I love this place the people are great to go you will love it
Lots of old books haphazardly arranged. I was hoping for an eclectic collection not an ancient one. The woman at the front made it pretty clear that if I was looking for something besides a bible I need to ask the man in the back. The man at the back gave unfriendly glares as I approached so I left him to his business and got some quality stares of disdain on the way out from him as well.
Very cool store
Great selection of literature
Every bookstore should have the great hospitality and expertise you experience at Landmark!
Simply amazing....a must stop if you love books... great collection of books ... something for everyone at all ages...
It is a beautiful and rustic bookshop with lots of local history and endless interesting topics.
Owners are so friendly and helpful. Beautiful clean town. Cant wait to go back.
Quaint, little bookstore! Loved the atmosphere.
The owner, Joel, was SO helpful with what I needed, going out of his way to give good service. Definitely recommend this little bookstore.
This is our favorite bookstore back home and we stop in whenever were back. Its quiet, unique and the owners are amazingly kind!
A must visit if your in Franklin. Fantastic selection of books.
Historical, creaky old place, nicely laid out. Great for history buffs.
Amazing selection of books of all genres and originals to duplicates.
Great selection of books! Could have stayed in here for days...
