My wife and I recently hosted our high school 50th/51st class reunion at The Charles Fort Wayne Event Center. It was originally scheduled for June 2020, but due to the COVID restrictions it had to be postponed until later this year. We were very pleased with the outcome. Co-Owners Christine Leto and Michelle McIntire, along with their entire staff greatly assisted us in making this an event our participants will long remember. The facility was beautifully decorated, and the food was outstanding. We had approximately 100 guests and they all commented on how nice the reunion turned out. We continue to receive cards from classmates remarking about how amazing the event turned out. We couldn’t have done this without the assistance of Chris and Michelle who worked with us to ensure that we could host a successful reunion and stay within our budget. We would strongly recommend anyone seeking a reception hall for your event, be it a wedding reception, a reunion, or simply a party to speak with Christine and Michelle before looking any further.
The ladies that run the Charles did an excellent job of being responsive and providing a location for our 200+ sold out Women’s event. Our original event was canceled by another vendor and we were scrambling last minute to find a location that would house us. The Charles did a great job setting everything up and even though weddings are their specialty, they facilitated our Women’s event with expertise. I would recommend holding your event here.
Since my one star review an hour ago, there have been several people who have posted a five star review folks. We were also fooled by their high reviews. Obviously, they call their friends and family to review them.Look at the timeline of my one star and all the five stars after. They are working the system. Also check: The Orchid Catering and Alomar Entertainment. They are all working together.
We held our wedding here in September and to say it nicely, we were extremely disappointed. The Wedding day itself was fine, besides a few minor things. Working with them before the wedding was the most stressful process of the entire wedding planning process. Sadly, google doesn’t let me write the book of things we had to deal with, so I guess I’ll leave you all with the short and sweet version. The management was not accommodating at all. The first problem was when their in house caterer was quit and/or was fired and the Charles did nothing to accommodate us other than tell us good luck on finding a new caterer during the busiest wedding month. The second problem was when we were told we could have our ceremony across from the gazebo, then later told no due to a project of planting trees and putting up a fence. We learned the trees wouldn’t even be in the way and there were no signs of these plans being started. So instead of planning for what we wanted with the possibility of having to move to the gazebo, they just told us we couldn’t have it there, which was the perfect spot for what we wanted during the ceremony. There were other unfortunate events that happened night of the rehearsal, one of which they told us we could seat our guest at the same time the ceremony was supposed to start. They told us at our meetings we would have the ceremony area starting a half hour before start time. Communication with us was lacking. They were just unprofessional, unaccommodating, and a lot of times rude. We probably would have been better off and less stressed by renting a tent in a field. They need to work on their internal communication, communication to their clients, and not make it seem like their clients are an inconvenience by wanting something that “they don’t normally do.” They run a business and that’s all they seem to care about.1/5 for Professionalism1/5 for Communication2/5 for Accommodation4/5 for Décor
They offer that personal touch. Super honest. Great value and service
Unorganized, unprofessional.Had hillbilly looking trash cans all over the venue. Bathrooms had no changing table, and are just not nice for a banquet hall.Luckily they don’t have to worry about repeat customers with a wedding so I guess they don’t care.Plan your wedding with a company who cares about their bride.
We love The Charles and the wonderful ladies who run the place! Such a beautiful and fun venue!!
We had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Charles. I have nothing but good things to say about this venue. They are great to work with. You have several meetings to ensure that your special day is just the way that you want it. We worked with the owner of the establishment and a design team. They were a pleasure to work with during the planning and on the actual day of the wedding.I would recommend this venue to anyone.
I had the opportunity to be at The Charles for some indoor wedding pictures. It provided a warm place to go as well during a cold February day! The staff were accommodating and kind, and the venue was a neat place to be. They offered suite rooms and were adorable for the bridesmaids. Thank you!
This was a wonderful place for my friend’s special day! Lots of charm, and they got some great indoor photos for their February wedding! The ladies dressing room had a cutely painted wall that made selfies so fun!! Staff were friendly and helpful.
Oh my word, cannot say enough good about The Staff/Owners at the Charles. My husband and I needed a cute Indoor location for family/wedding party pictures to stay warm during our freezing winter wedding weekend and I LOVED the inside of the Charles. So I emailed them for this somewhat different request and even though we didnt rent the whole venue for our big weekend or use all of the amazing services they had to offer, they treated us like we paid top dollar!!!!! I can only imagine how they handle real clients. They were so accommodating and kind. Not to mention the venue and all it has to offer is absolutely amazingg!!! I have been to Fort Wayne so many times and didnt know it was there, will definitely be recommending to someone many of my friends and family who need a place for their big day. They made me so relaxed about my pictures and I cant say enough good. Thank you, sincerely to the whole staff, thank you!!!!💕
Parking lot food truck event with music very nicely done. Something for everyone!
Great place and very accommodating! My cousin had indoor wedding pictures here! They were really friendly and ready to answer any questions!
Still require face masks. Didnt go in. Long wait, had to use restroom and girlfriend broke her shoes. So we went home unfortunately.
Amazing, peaceful venue! Bar is stacked and the moody lighting is perfect
My Daughter got married there a year ago and the staff were very easy to work with. The decorator was able to bring my daughters vision to life and exceeded her expectations. The food was very good- we had a small glitch with amount and the Charles fixed the issue at no extra charge.Beautiful venue -staff easy to work with! !Wonderful evening-thank you
This venue is BEAUTIFUL. If you think you already know this venue, think again. They have done so much work and invested so much in improvements to the building and decor. I had seen this place a few years ago and it was nice, but now its stunning. The owners are lovely and the ladies that make up their staff are so professional. They really are able to make dreams come true. Ive watched it happen in front of my eyes. The food, the bar, the decorations, the venue itself... Its all come together to make a truly unique and gorgeous place to have an event. Weddings, Private Parties, Corporate Functions, etc.. They do it all!!

I appreciate the staff wore masks. The food was tasty and the setting was beautiful there on the pond. I wish they wouldve had a lower maximum for the number of people allowed inside, even if that meant I couldnt attend. The same with outside, the seats were very close making it impossible to distance.
Always a lovely experience 😊
Love this venue! Beautiful grounds, tastefully decorated rooms, friendly, accommodating staff. Looking forward to the next steps for this innovative business. Currently have the Fort Wayne Ballroom Company operating there during the week. One stop shopping for those planning a wedding or party.
Nice! Never been in that building before
I recently attended a party at the Charles and the staff was wonderful and very accomodating. The drinks were excellent and a great value. The atmosphere was welcoming and beautiful. I am looking forward to going back!
My daughter was married at The Charles and the staff was wonderful. Anything we needed they accommodated. I cant express how much I appreciate everything they did for us!
Beautiful building, perfect site for a wedding or anniversary party
This summer I had the opportunity to work with the Charles on many occasions. If you are looking for a venue for your wedding this is the place. As an entertainment provider, I get to see many different places and it’s always encouraging to see a place where quality is of top priority. We have also eaten their meals as every event, and every single time has been delicious!! I can’t tell you how many times that we have gone elsewhere and the food is dry. You can’t go wrong with choosing the Charles as your place to be!
The Charles made for a gorgeous setting for an intimate and romantic wedding reception. My favorite part was that everything was well organized with designated meetings leading up to the big day. It took a lot of stress off of me as they provided food, cakes, and decorations all within their company! My husband and I are happy to have went with The Charles!
There were many small issues leading up to the wedding day along with issues day of. When we came in the night before (at our scheduled time) to set personal items up, the room was not ready. We were then told we had to leave after 15 minutes of being there because of a rehearsal on the other side. On the day of I had a different lady that was our coordinator than anyone who I had previously talked to. She was very friendly and understanding, but it was very frustrating trying to retell everything we wanted. We also had to ask multiple times for different items that were missing for the day of. If you are wanting to pay for over priced food (with the entree being completely different than your taste test) and not be able to keep any of it after, this is the place for you. Overall, I was very disappointed with the lack of communication, organization and the dishonesty that occurred.
Great place and staff!! Had my ceremony and reception here and everything was beautiful! Even though it was a rainy day and had to make last minute changes for the ceremony, the staff gladly helped at the last minute! Great decor Team, they make everything looks gorgeous according on how you want it! Such a nice experience. Also the food was delicious🙌🏽
We had an amazing last minute wedding at the Charles. We planned it in literally 6 weeks and everyone who worked there was extremely helpful and made our day perfect. They helped us plan everything so fast. Our decor was beautiful, our food was amazing and we had the best DJ ever. They provided everything we needed; food, decor, the DJ, the officiant, the alcohol. Our day was perfect thanks to the staff at the Charles. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. Their venue is gorgeous and every staff member was so nice and accommodating. Thank you for making our day perfect :) we wouldn’t have changed a thing.
I was there for a wedding My nephews
Had the best wedding experience here! The owners were more than accommodating for all of our requests and very easy to talk to. The bridal suite getting ready in the morning was perfect and convenient. Emily and Nicole were awesome at helping plan the decor. During our ceremony they made sure that everything we needed was taken care of. Cannot say enough good things about this place and if I could do my wedding day over again, I would still have our reception here! 10/10 recommend this place.
The coordinator moved the reception right along. Its not fair to grade during Covid19.Im sure it could be 5 star.
The Charles was the PERFECT venue to host our warehouse sale! The entire staff was so pleasant and accommodating. The renovations that have been done have really turned that hall into a MORE beautiful venue for weddings, corporate events, bridal showers, and so much more! They helped us set up, provided excellent snacks and yummy cocktails, and even helped us clean up some of the unexpected chaos! We cant wait to work with them on our next warehouse sale event!- Lane 201 Team
***we got married during the Covid pandemic**It was such a pleasure doing business with the owners of the Charles. I had looked at numerous venues and when we looked at this one, knew instantly this was the last one, however with our budget we weren’t sure. So i looked at a few more. But nothing even compared to how Gorgeous The Charles is. So we decided to go with this venue and it did not disappoint! From the time we met with the owners they made sure they didn’t hide or sugar coat anything. But they also made sure that we got what we wanted (to the extent we were aloud obviously!) The communication was great and the meetings went very well! My family and i are a bit much and tend to over step in situations and don’t mean to necessarily. And the owners handled it so well and let us decorate how we wanted too. (Even tho the Charles has great options to choose from, i wanted some serious sparkle!) the food was amazing! We highly recommend the twice baked potato! the chef for the night was AMAZING! He came and talked with us, made sure we knew his plans, the food was so tasty, and he even surprised me with little cakes that matched our decor! I mean talk about feeling special and cared for! As i stated above, we got married during the pandemic, 7-11-2020 and while i tell everyone not to get married if they are in a pandemic, after my experience, if you must, do it at the Charles. Seriously the communication with everyone about Covid and the new restrictions or how we had to adjust, was fabulous! They really tried to accommodate my “look” and were willing to do what they needed to make it more like “it should be”. They were great about scheduling a back up date just in case and making me feel like they cared and wanted us to have a great wedding. NOW the night of my wedding we had a AWFUL DJ. This DJ was not apart of the Charles at all. But EMILY was our manager in duty that night and was running the show in such a manger i didn’t even know she was there for the longest time. When it came time to do speeches, our DJ didn’t have wireless MICS,... I’m in full upset mode and Emily comes over and ask me how to fix it and i said i need a wireless mic so my maid of honor and best man don’t have to stand on the other side of the room to do their speech. And i kid you not, she got the other DJ at the other wedding to lend her a mic and SAVED THE WHOLE NIGHT! She asked for the schedule of the night and she made sure everything ran as it should the rest of the night so i could enjoy my night. Everyone loved the venue and we got married outside and it was BEAUTIFUL! I HIGHLY recommend Getting the bridal suite, it was SO WORTH IT. This is the venue to choose if you want a venue that will do it for you and you can be care free! It’s A DREAM COME TRUE! Thank you so much to EMILY and all the staff at the Charles as you all worked effortlessly to make my big day come together as i envisioned. And you all are doing a great job during this pandemic! THANK YOU💕
I had my reception at The Charles a few weeks ago and everything from the planning to the actual event was amazing thanks to the wonderful staff. The chef was wonderful as well as the food he made, the owner is so friendly and accommodating, and the decor staff gals were so much fun to work with and made all my wishes a reality! A few of my husbands best friends are currently deployed and were unable to be at our wedding, so they put together a video of speeches and The Charles went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make the presentation of this video absolutely perfect!
The Charles has partnered with The Ballroom Company on Dupont and Lima Rd. and the dance instructors are holding quality ballroom dance classes there now with masks required. A very professional environment.
Our wedding was here. Everything went really well. Just remember to order food for 10% more people than actually come because they won’t make enough food. Some of our guests had to wait for food. Also, be sure to pick your own minister. Their minister is family who likes to complain. He likes to throw out “oh well” during the ceremony when he doesn’t remember to tell your guests to sit down. If you get married outside the pond has algae all around it.
The Charles could not have been a more perfect location to say “I do”. From our rehearsal dinner to reception, everything was perfect. Our coordinator did a great job listening to our vision and decorating accordingly. Management did a great job communicating and addressing any questions or concerns. The food was also amazing! If we had to do it all over again, we’d pick The Charles every time.
Pros: The venue and the land that it is on is beautiful! The staff were there to help along with the planning process almost the whole way. They do all chairs/linens/food/drink there which saved us from going through several external vendors.Cons: Day of, stuff was a mess. The lady that met me there to be the day of coordinator I had never met before. The two ladies I had spoken with throughout all planning were not there! We were promised a mimosa bar IN the bridal suite, nope we had to go up to the bar to get our mimosas, which is a problem once guests start arriving. They set up the wrong number of tables, and a few friends/groomsmen had to fix this issue, as we were told someone would show up to fix it, and no one did.We paid for 2 cases of wine and 2 kegs of craft beer, way more than enough for our guests, and were told we could take home all unopened bottles. One of the kegs promised was actually just bottled beer, and when my parents asked the bar for the extras at the end of the wedding, none of the bar staff was to be found and all the alcohol was gone! DISHONEST!
My son and his bride to be are getting married at The Charles on the 19th. I was lucky enough to be invited to the tasting and I know their wedding is going to be amazing!! Professionalism was top notch. I hope they make enough food, because it was awesome!
We have worked with Chris multiple times . We love the decor inside the building and the staff is very friendly. The food and service was excellent!
Absolutely terrible venue. My cousin had her wedding here and they changed the entire look of her room, from white to black right before her big day WITHOUT INFORMING THEM!! tell me who does that?Mother of the bride walked in and CRIED! HOT TEARS people!Food was unspeakable, soggy bottom chicken, needed an extra gallon of water per head to swallow each piece of cake.If youre looking for little house on the prairie theme wedding, girls get your parasols out and head down to The Shiloh. Pack your picnic baskets full because you wont be eating what they serve you. PB&J is a better option.Customer service has hit an all time low. Called to try to discuss matters and whomever we spoke with blamed the mother of the bride, ya know, the one that cried. Thanks for ruining a day that shouldve been a fairytale miss lady.
Was here for a wedding and was a great time, RJ and Tracy had a wonderful wedding at the Little pond in the gazebo. Was a very nice place and the inside the reception was held! There was a security officer which was actually a police officer and he was very friendly and the bartending staff and all the staff was awesome thanks for a great job guys 👍
As owner of Fort Wayne DJs, and working for the previous house DJ, I have witnessed at least 35 weddings and receptions at the Charles, previously the Shiloh. I have known the owners for a long time and know they make every attempt to run a first class operation! Their food has always been amazing and i know they have spent a ton of money on their remodel. Its no longer the old Shiloh. Their outdoor gazebo is an awesome place for an outdoor wedding. I always highly recommend them!
Ive been there on numerous occasions for different events...some small -- some large. It is a beautiful facility with attentive and caring owners. The food was always delicious and the ambience perfect. Having performed a number of weddings as a Lutheran pastor...Ive seen many different venues. In my opinion, this is a great one... one of the best in Fort Wayne. Affordable, detailed-oriented and thoughtful in all they do. I routinely recommend it to others and have always had excellent feedback.
Ive attended a few weddings here. Theyve all been so sweet, professional, and yet you can tell that the owners are obviously so so passionate about what they do. They truly care about catering to the service of others. I have had so much fun there. I danced, drank, had a good time and everyone was happy.
Classic and classy event center taking the greatest care of all thier clients with an amazing staff and diverse menu to please everyone. Our wedding was magical here!
Went for a wedding reception. They have a small room on the east, and a small room on the west.and the rooms do not join due to the kitchen being in the middle. We walked in the wrong side, the place was empty, and no signs or anything stating we were on the wrong side. The place smelled like something in the kitchen was burning...Really great food. Had a small buffet set up. The beef brisket was sliced thick and amazingly good. The grilled boneless chicken had the char lines (Ah! that is what they were burning) and also tasted amazing! The rice pilaf was kinda bland, but very good for pilaf...They had a buffet table for the kids! Chicken fingers and macaroni & cheese! First time I have ever seen this done and it worked out great!Cash bar, and the frozen slushy red wine and frozen slushy margaritas out of the slushy machines were extremely good.
Just popped in unannounced to check out the venue for a potential event. Michelle, co-owner was very friendly and helpful. The event rooms are very nicely decorated.
Wonderful place! Amazing staff! Thank you for all the work you did to make our event a success! Highly recommend The Charles for any gathering.
We just recently had our wedding reception here and they were AMAZING to work with! From the very first time visiting the venue, both owners and all of the staff were very professional and so welcoming. They were very up front about anything and everything - from the costs of services they offer to recommendations for various other wedding-related services. My fiancé and I decided to hold our reception here because we loved the staff and they will help you with everything - which was perfect for our busy schedules. The three meetings we had with them before the event were organized and efficient. This place is a one stop shop for everything and they make wedding planning a breeze! The designers incorporated my ideas from Pinterest and handled all of the decorations - from center pieces to linens to the welcome table. They also have an in house chef that works with you to create a menu of your choosing - he was even willing to husk local sweet corn for about 300 guests! They have a DJ and cake baker they work with if you choose. The night of our reception they handled everything - not a single question came our way. The chef and all of the staff working that night introduced themselves to us and made sure everything was exactly as we wanted. We could not have asked for a better place to host our reception and wouldnt change a thing even if we had a chance to go back and do it all over again!
Small bathroomWorkers picked up food and drinks before we were finishedBartender charged different prices for same type of drinkConstant changing of original estimate. Estimates only good for 30 daysFood was goodBridal suite was small and not air conditionedNice place but not sure I would use again.
I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. When my husband and I booked this venue for our wedding a year in advance, we booked with the previous owner - who was amazing. We had an estimate and everything was going to be great. Once the new owners took over, prices started going up and up. One of the only things they did honor from our estimate was the deposit and time we were allowed to have the venue. They changed chefs and bakers. After the new ownership, our cake was going to cost almost $300 more to serve less people. The food is horrible (this has been confirmed from at least 3 other people Ive spoken to). My maid of honor went to a wedding there in April and said that someone was dipping their roast in their cup of water, it was so dry. At the same wedding, they had chicken cordon bleu and no one knew what it was.Nevertheless, I wrote the owners, letting them know our disappointment and said, If I knew we werent going to lose all our money, Id ALMOST say to cancel. Never once did I say to cancel our booking. Immediately, they wrote me back and said they had taken us off their calendar and asked how we wanted to receive our money back, minus our deposit. They screwed us over, 2 months before our wedding date and ripped us off $750. Im sure theyll reply and say how it wasnt at all their fault, but believe me, save the headache and look elsewhere!
Met with owner. Shes nice wasnt very intrigued once the conversation got started about the venue. Didnt end up booking after i compared my estimate with another bride. For the exact same thing. Be careful when booking.
Went to a beautiful wedding here, great staff and lovely venue
Weird setup. The room is shaped like an L, so half the room sees the DJ and the other half doesnt. The new addition is nice and cool while the old part gets warm if people start dancing
The Shiloh was the perfect place to host our wedding reception! They made everything so easy! From set up to tear down and everything in between, they take care of the food, keep the drinks flowing with a full bar, table set up with china, centerpieces, lighting, letter cage, DJ, wedding cake, and make sure that the entire night goes smoothly for a fantastic price! We couldnt find anything comparable without having to do every single detail ourselves. We had so many compliments on the food from many of our guests, it was amazing! They transform their rooms into something beautiful, you should see it in person (the pictures just dont do it justice). They work with you to get what you want and make it so easy! I would highly recommend this venue to anyone planning their wedding, you wont find this quality and care for this price anywhere, I can promise you that!
The Charles recently opened the Coffee Pub, which is open during the week (closed on Mondays) and closed occasionally on Saturdays for events. This is a fantastic local haunt, especially for those of us living in the suburbs around Carroll High School. It is within walking distance of our homes and has friendly baristas, great drinks, excellent snacks and even an area for children to play on the floor while parents drink coffee and talk. The owners are friendly, service-oriented ladies who live nearby and have gone out of their way to make this a community-friendly place, and their baristas are of the same mindset, always asking for feedback on their drinks and open to ideas on how to make things better. Locally-roasted coffee completes the hometown feel in this spacious coffee house. Give it a try and support your local business owners at the same time!!
I have had the opportunity to DJ many weddings and receptions at the Shiloh. Over the years, the owners have put a lot of money into remodeling the facility and building the pond and gazebo. It really is a beautiful place for any event and their chef is top notch! You cant go wrong with this business!
Beautiful venue, was a bridesmaid here, only suggestion, have them put signs on the bridal suites to inform others which wedding is which! We had several people from the other wedding on the other side walk in as we were changing!
Needs much better lighting for the parking lot. Like it was hazardously bad. The staff and inside of the venue were nice though.
Nice, clean. Lay out is easy to set up. Staff is friendly and courteous.
We got married August 9, 2014 at The Shiloh, of all the many venues to choose from in Fort Wayne to get Married, we chose the Shiloh because of the location, the convenience of everything being in one place, the beautiful scenery outside by the water and the ease of knowing the weather is not predictable but Shiloh would move everything inside should it happen to rain. The plus and bonus of it was the DELICIOUS variety of foods they have to offer, it was hard to choose, I believe we went to every tasting they had, all of our guests talked about how good the food was. The CAKE was OH MY GOODNESS to die for! Dana and her staff did a fabulous job decorating the hall it was exactly as I visioned. I would recommend The Shiloh to anyone looking for a place not only to get Married but to celebrate their special day. They will not disappoint. Thank you Shiloh for making our special day that much better, words cannot even express how grateful we are.~ The Atwood Family
Beautiful Atmosphere. Great coffee and lunches. Friendly staff. Check it out! The Coffee House is awesome!
Delicious fare, wonderful drinks, fun conversations (the book club is my favorite). But it is the staff that makes this one of my favorite places in Fort Wayne.
Very very beautiful place! Super friendly staff and really great coffee at the coffee pub!
Great place with amazing staff conveniently located! I highly recommend it.
Wonderful setting for weddings and reception. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Not overly expensive
Do not recommend renting THE OUTSIDE GAZEBO. .my brother just had his wedding here yesterday and paid 1000 they had no restroom unlocked and no one was to be found to help us. There were weeds in the landscape and the chairs were wet. My brother was not impressed at all for his special day i feel so bad they paid 1000 for crappy setting!
Hubie Ashcraft concert was great. Mad Anthony beer and Shigs and Pitt BBQ and great music. What else could you want on a sunny Sunday afternoon?
Grat place to het married it has such noce staff and inviting atmosphere
I attended a wedding reception on 10-26-2019 for a family member. The manager on duty a taller guy with a beard was very rude and not very accomodating.
I have always enjoyed coming here for weddings, or family gatherings
Great place for coffee say hello to Desse she works in there
I attended a wedding here as a bridesmaid on July 14, 2018 and I was absolutely appalled at how unprepared, poorly managed, and understaffed the wedding was from start to finish. Firstly, the heat was turned on prior to the ceremony which the owner Michelle, claims someone from our group did, which is extremely unlikely because the thermostat is a located above a doorway so the ability for one of us to do it doesn’t make much sense. Next, there weren’t enough chairs for all of the guests to sit during the ceremony, so our groomsmen had to bring more chairs out just moments before the ceremony was about to start to get as many people seated as possible. Those were just the two things to start off the day. The reception is really when disappointment turned to frustration and my absolute disrespect for the owner started. Never once did anyone from the serving staff check on the head table to see if we needed anything and at one point I had to get up and ask someone from the serve staff to bring the head table more water. I guess I shouldn’t have made an assumption that the gentleman I asked for water would re-pour our glasses because all he did was drop off a pitcher and walk away. While I understand there was 250 other guest I did have expectations that the head table would be treated a tad bit better than the rest of the guest. Twice when I went to restroom I had to clean it up because of dirty it had gotten and apparently wasnt being attended too. Paper towels on the floor, flowing out of the trash can, water all over the sink, empty soap dispensers, which I had to ask to be refilled twice. However, I think what really topped the cake for me, no pun intended, is that I missed my best friends first dance with her husband, her dance with her father, and the grooms dance with his mother because the bride was reassured that the dessert table would be handle and attended to by a member of The Charles staff. This was not the case, as I was walked over to watch all these dances every single dessert tray was completely empty with plenty to refill them underneath the table! I was absolutely angered that something we specifically spoke to Michelle about on Friday we were flat out lied to about. While I saw her attend to it later in the evening after I spent 20 minutes filling it myself, it was obviously too little too late. Finally, during a random point during the reception after dinner the main door to the reception hall was locked, claiming it would help keep down the heat. This is fine if there is truth behind this however, you can’t lock the main door and not leave a sign on it saying to use one of the side doors. So as I was finishing making and figuring out a way to hang a simple handcrafted sign that said, “Sorry this door is now locked, please use one of the side doors.” Michelle came out and said that they would unlock the front door.As I mentioned from start to finish the wedding was handled poorly. I don’t understand how The Charles was so poorly managed, staffed and unprepared for my best friend’s wedding. Being someone that has worked at a country club in my past and has worked plenty of weddings myself I just can’t fathom how a manager and owner is okay with presenting their company in this way. To anyone that is considering using The Charles for their wedding or special event I highly suggest you have low expectations if you intend on using this establishment.
Dana, You were a joy to work with. You always answered, Its your wedding when our daughter asked your advice, but you would kindly give us your professional perspective if we pressed you for it. Jeff, thanks for accommodating several different requests we made in the reception hall. Thank-you also for the kind compliments you gave us at the end of the wedding. We heard many comments from the guests about how good the food, and cake were, how much they enjoyed the DJ and how beautiful the decor was. We compared prices with a DIY wedding for our daughter and son-in-law and we couldnt have come close to the beautiful atmosphere provided at both Annalynn Gardens for the ceremony and the Hall for the reception all combined in a budget that didnt break the bank! Your staff was courteous and efficient!! We HIGHLY recommend this venue
Lots of space. Nice accommodations for groups and events.
The new owner of shiolh which is marry me fort wayne. Is seriously unprofessional we had to back out of our wedding because Chris had everything confused and didnt even have our wedding date correct and they asked for final payment and head count a year before the wedding. Will never do business with them. And on top of everything they will lie to you to make there business look good. Would never recommend them to anyone. But I will say that Dana is great.
Just had my wedding and reception here over the weekend. We had prefect weather for an end of October wedding, which made having it outside even better. When we booked over a year in advance they were beginning to remodel and i started seeing price changes and freaked out BUT Michelle and Chris made sure we knew out estimate prices would be honored. The food was amazing (pork loin and brisket). Everything was set up just as we had discussed with Nicole.minus the vases for bouquets we had discussed with someone else. We did have a hiccup with running out of budlight kegs but that was fixed and we were offered a different kind. I couldnt have imagined a better day. So sad its over 😢
I have used this hall twice in the last nine months for both of my childrens receptions. In each case a lot of confusion occurred. As in every time we met with management I came away more unsure that our wants and needs would be met. As for the first reception the whole day went well but until that day I had major doubts. Every estimate we had was incorrect . Every time we came into meet we met with someone different and things were wrote down in folder but each estimate email we received there was always something not right, we kept meeting with same results confusion . Am glad the way things worked out but organization on details needs to be improved. Now to the 2nd reception we reserved it the week of the first reception met put details down set up date for 2nd meeting. When 2nd meeting came we arrived to blank faces of why are we here you set the date making more uncertainty in the hall. I asked to be emailed with estimates and the bride also they took my email address wrote it on back of paper put in folder never received an email as being the paying person I was not very happy with that. We then found out of major renovation to the hall we had rented more concern it would be completed in time but were told at least 4times it would be done in time. All estimates the bride received were incorrect even after 4 meetings . Finally a week before the date which was 6/3/17 they met and the estimate they gave was for my daughters reception in october. OMG confidence in this was gone the hall was in pieces but again we were assured of completion . So moving to the reception day gazebo was set up all though one chair was broken I can live with that. The hall was not finished although the tables were great the new entry door was not ready there was no hand rail on steps for elderly or disabled . We provided our own dj no table was set up as discussed the one side of hall was extremely hot all night . Very uncomfortable . We had set up lunch buffet with potato salad and tossed salad and got Mac salad instead this could have been avoided if estimates were ever corrected. I was disappointed in incompletion of hall door trim a black painted plywood wall in back door not trinmmed open showing wiring ect. A sanded unfinished floor . A complementary bottle of champagne was promised not provided but the flutes were on wedding party table though. All in all a good time was had but really hot but the handrail did worry me a lot . Food was good but a lot better communication is needed . Giving you 3 stars not great but not terrible . Tom Brumbaugh
Very pretty I just went to vote
Nice place.
Had them do wedding, reception, cake, open bar, and decorations. My guests were happy, they didnt notice the hiccups, but as the bride I did. When using this place, keep in mind to keep repeating yourself, what you want, and make sure its in writing CLEARLY.Wedding: we used their gardens and it was beautiful. The DJ they provide will cost extra to do it out there, and they will not inform you until a month before. They DID pay the extra though after the headache. Id recommend for the wedding. 4.5 of 5.Reception: guests were provided dirty stemware at a few tables. May be from hard water they claimed. Was fixed. Couples table was told to be on stage. Was on dance floor. After being reassured it would be moved before dancing, it wasnt. Positive side, beautiful decorations. 3 of 5.Open bar: told guests would pay for liquor, pop free, groom and bride free (since we are the ones footing over all the money for it). Guests were charged $1 for pop. We were told only first drink (which was provided on house) was free, then afterwards only first $100 free, to which the bartender didnt even know how many times we went up so added drinks, though we made sure not to hit that $100 limit. Positive thing: they accept cash AND cards. 2 of 5.Cake: if you have more than 1 picture, it probably will have something wrong with it. But they can fix it,right? Nope, for they ice it right before wedding, where its done just in time. By the time you see it, you dont have time to say if its wrong. Was told it would be done by 10, then 2, got there at 4 still not done. I had to get ready, by the time I was done it was time to walk down the aisle, with just a partying glimpse. Positive: tasted good. Negative: rushed where couldnt savor it, for DJ immediately moved to first dance after cake cutting. 3 of 5.Catering: food tasted delicious, but we wanted 2 entrees, 3 sides, 2 appetizers, and an additional dessert besides cake. Missed side, had to drop the appetizers and dessert because they decided to charge us for them 5 days before wedding. Went to pay them off less than $50, imagine my facewhen they add a few hundred on that. You wanted it. I told you 3 months ago! But despite that, the food we food get tasted good. Guests were happy. 4 of 5 despite big hiccup.Overall 3 of 5. Make sure THEY know what you want. Maybe write it down for them, otherwise itll be vague and probably have 1 thing wrong. Guests were happy, but could have been better.
The best place in Ft. Wayne to celebrate ANY event!!!
We held our wedding at the Shiloh on September 29, 2012 and it was phenomenal. There are very few wedding venues in the Fort Wayne area in which you can have both ceremony and reception in one place. The Annalynn Garden, which is where we had our ceremony, features a gorgeous gazebo in front of a pond with a fountain and several other water features. It makes for a stunning setting for a wedding. Our pictures are gorgeous!I have two favorite things about the reception hall: the FOOD and the neutrality of the space. I could go on and on about the food. It is amazing, delicious, fantastic, etc. We had the smothered chicken, pepper steak, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans and green bean casserole, garden salad, and a fruit/veggie display. There was so much food at our reception! Also, highly recommend the Caribbean Rum Punch. Amazing! Now, I also liked the neutrality of the space. This was very important to me because I used coral, lavendar, and brown. I wanted a space where the walls and carpet wouldn t clash or detract from my colors. we were in the West Wing. The walls are a soft ivory with very neutral carpeting and window coverings. I went all over the place looking for a neutral space. My only complaint about the space is that the restrooms are very small. There is not a lot of restroom space to get ready, but we just used the reception hall.Dana Merle, the wedding coordinator, is a true asset at the Shiloh. She was very patient and accommodating with us. I highly recommend the Shiloh for weddings and events because of the quality and service you get for the price!
Great food, even better coffee.
Beautiful venue and very friendly staff!
Very beautiful gazebo with pond
Edited after response* Terrible venue, terrible food, dirty & cold. I did not attend a Free Santa Event, I attended a private event.
Always a nice place to warm up
Decent venue, not a fave!
Great wedding and party venue!
The odd shape of our room, made it hard to dance and sit at tables, some trouble with cake as well, and the table for the unity candle couldnt be directly behind the arch.
Excellent food.
Great place for a party
Lovely place.
