Their food is a STRONG 10, and the best Carrot Cake Ive ever had.
Ive been going to Gordy for more than 25 years. Always fair and honest. Great workmanship. His tech set up my Washburn, Tele and Les Paul recently. For my Washburn they actually rewound my pick up because it was an unusual finish and a replacement would have looked horrible. I bought a sweet hardshell for my Tele and 3 gig bags. Also 4 straps. Great prices and just an all around great place to bring your guitar. Also a great place to buy great gear. You need to call this man and give him your business.
Gordy is the Guru of guitars! Very knowledgeable and always helpful. Very nice personality. I would highly recomend.
These guys are consummate professionals, as my SG went swimming when my basement flooded. Gordys fixed it good as new.
There is no one more knowledgeable about vintage guitars and gear than Gordy.
Gordys Just an honest Dude making Deals for over 30 years.Ive trusted him since day one.
Best place on Earth to get your gear fixed.
Great place. has lots of cool instruments and Very friendly staff and outstanding service. Gordy went above and beyond for our bass. Highly recommend a visit musician or music lover.
Gordy solved my need for a new microphone stand today. Great guy, great price and customer service. Highly recommend this location for any relevant equipment.
Its always good to visit Gordys, he has more cool stuff than anyone around, and he treats you right.

Ive had an expensive Goodrich volume pedal repaired here, I bought a vintage amp here, and I just picked up my Gretsch White Falcon after a set up and a Bigsby change.Every single time, the communication is excellent, the guys are friendly, and their tech work is fantastic. I love this place, and I recommend them to everyone, especially people serious about their gear.
I visit often. Quick merchandise turn over. Im very fond of Gordy. He provides quick service and repairs. Gordy is my Husband so this review could be bias. ♡
Its nice to go in and talk to Gordy, Just for the sake of talking to him about his experience in the music business, especially, when he talks about living crossed the street from my grandparents. Plus, hes willing to work with you on payment plans on most of the stuff in his shop. Super cool.
I had a really good experience with Gordy... he really knows his stuff, and I can tell that he really loves what he does...I highly recommendB)>+
If youre looking for a cool piece of vintage gear or even an oddball part to complete your instrument. Good chance Gordys got you covered. Great store, check it out!
Whoever answers the phone at this establishment has very poor customer service skills. He acted like checking to see if they sold 250K pots (something any guitar store should have) was a gross imposition. Thus, I will never spend a dime at this store. Conversely, when I called Guitar Center, the guitar accessories counter man was cheerful, he immediately told me that they had several types of the part in question, he gave me the prices and even offered to have it waiting for me. And, I guarantee that the guitar accessories counter at Guitar Center was a lot busier than all of Gordys Music.
Friendly, respectful and easy to work with.
Best guitar store in Michigan. Gordy always makes sure youre happy.
I took my husbands guitar here for restoration. The owner was great, helping me with everything I needed. The only negative is the terribly strong smoke smell in the store.
I love this place. Gordy was nothing but nice, honest, and professional when it came to selling one of my guitars. Because of that, I came back with a second one for him to sell. You can trust a guy who has been in business as long as he has. Forget the big chains (GC) and start with a truly independent store with an owner who knows what hes doing. Highly recommended.
I have been going to Gordys for guitars, amps and all related equipment for more than 20 years. I always find the most interesting things along with the the best personal service. I would say that this is the best place in metro Detroit for guitars, basses, and all vintage equipment hands down.
Really cool. Been goin there for many years
Very nice staff, they were very helpful!
Good people work @ Gordys. I have been a customer for more than 25years.
Gordys is always the best, great finds and the best service.
A great place to buy guitars, amps, and accessories. Friendly people and a great atmosphere. A wonderful experience, and the people there were extremely knowledgable and friendly !
Cool little guitar shop! Friendly and cool!
Been taking my instruments to him for quite I know what theyre doing and usually has what you
Ive been shopping at Gordys Music for over thirty years now. This is a one of a kind business.Gordy started vintage in Detroit and now is global.Gordy is a class act.If he doesnt have it, he will find it for you.Theres always something there you wont see anywhere else..Gordys Music is a gem in our region and anyone who hasnt met Gordy needs to treat themselves to one of the rare and unique gentlemen in the music business.
Go to Gordys Music like I did if you want great New and Vintage Gear and the most knowledgeable staff in the city. Oh Yeah Top Notch Repairs and reasonable prices.
Came in and the guy was extremely unprofessional and was complaining that he hadnt had a break all day, was trying to get us out the door so we promptly left. From my experience Id even recommend Guitar Center over this place so that should say a lot.
Ill always go to Gordys first, hes a nice straightforward guy with a cool range of stuff, and his tech makes everything tight. Independent brick and mortar til the end!and may whoever dies with the most guitars win
Ive been to Gordys quite a few times. The store is just run by Gordy. Hes a little rough around the edges, but can be nice if you dont act retarded. He buys and sells used guitars and other musical instruments/amps/pedals etc. Most of the times Ive been there were to buy spare parts for some guitars I was making. He had tons of spare parts: pickups, knobs, tuners, pickguards, you name it. Most of the parts werent price-tagged, it was kind of a negotiable name-your-price type thing. I havent looked closely at his guitar selection, but a lot seem to be the knock-off beginner types with a few vintage axes as well. Id give his place a visit, you might find something you like. Just dont be a retard ;)
Great selection of instruments, but I wish that it was a non-smoking environment.
Sold me a packaged set of bridge pins that were not only used and repackaged, but also were plastic and not ebony like I paid for. Not very honest.
Long time guitar dealer... Great store
Gordy and Cal were great, and I will be coming back. A switch wasnt working on my guitar, took them a minute to diagnose and fix it- only charged me $5. Left my old 80s Peavy amp with them to fix up. I picked up 2 chorus pedals after speaking with Cal and having him show me how to really open up the space in my music with them. Will definitely bring in my 7 other stringed instruments for them to look over.Definitely an old schooler; Gordy really took the time to help my pick out the pedals, talk a little about all the pictures on the wall, talk about my amp, my axes, and thanked me for shopping locally. If you treat the shop and them with respect, his tough exterior quickly falls away.
Detroit area hidden treasures.
Gordy is a great dude with great equipment at a great price. one of the best out there.
He had everything except for drums and percussion things like that, flexible on the fair prices and he knew what he was talking about
Super cool. Place!
When you have been in any business for 30+ years sometimes you need to step away, have someone you trust step in and maintain while you step away and retool the situation. Sadly I see this place of business throwing his hands up and shurgging.
Gordy sold some guitars for me on consignment back in the 1990s. He got a good price in a few weeks with no runaround.
Great guy, great place. He actually cares about the music, and the customers!
Been in the business forever knows exactly why you got somebody doesnt greatest in the business
Bought 4 basses from gordy. He almost always has something odd. Gotta love an old school guitar store. He also has a legit tech. Made my ibanez ergodyne 700 look as good as new.
Great working with Gordy on the purchase of a Vintage Gibson Les Paul.
Great customer service, good selection and in stock items. check them out!
Gordys music is a place to trust! Great work!
