I have an Ovation electric acoustic guitar that is over forty years old. The electronics didnt work. The first six frets were badly worn with deep grooves in them. Because of that it was hard to play a clean chord on this guitar without some rattle from the strings. I gave up on it and bought a nice Taylor and never played the Ovation anymore. Then a friend told me about Bayberry Music. I took the Ovation in and Andy did his magic. He installed new electronics, replaced all of the worn out frets,, lowered the action and basically gave the guitar a hole new set up. Wow this guitar never sounded so good and played so easy. I am thrilled and beyond satisfied with the Andys knowledge and craftsmanship and highly recommend his services.

Looking at the store site, you get the feeling that they sell acoustic stringed instruments. I play most electric guitars and basses. So, never really thought much about them.Until I was looking for a luthier who could make me a custom neck for my 7 string electric bass. I contacted a dozen local luthiers about it. Only 1 got back to me, Andy from Bayberry Music. So, I jumped on the opportunity.From talking to Andy, he has made a lot of different custom guitars and made a lot of custom set ups for all types of stringed instruments. He also fixes upright basses, Cellos, etc. So, my questions about making a new neck with a 37 scale for a 7 string bass, isnt all that far out for him.It turns out they sell a lot more than just acoustic guitars and basses. They have an entire room dedicated to symphony type stringed instruments, bass, cello, violin, viola, etc. They repair all types of instruments too. Who knew?A few days ago, I was able to get my bass with the new 37.5 scale neck. I am extremely happy with how it worked out. In fact, I was talking to Andy about making another custom guitar.Ive also gone to Andy a few times with some minor issues I was having with other guitars and basses. Hes always been able to accommodate me and my (sometimes bizarre) questions.Thanks!

I took my Solar guitar in to have stainless steel frets put in to replace my nickel ones. First, let me say they are very professional and respectful to your needs very friendly. I was told it would take a couple weeks to complete, I took it in on a Saturday and called to check how things were going on Thursday. They were so helpful and informative about my project and said feel free to call anytime. I got it back in a week, very pleased. Andy did a beautiful job. This is my shop from now on for any guitar equipment or work needed. Very reasonable prices also. I Highly recommend Bayberry Music to anyone looking for a good music shop. They have one of the few luthiers willing to take on custom work. They return emails and phone calls fairly quickly too.

Brought in a hundred year old garbage picked banjo, when the adjustments were beyond my abilities. Andy got it playing like new. Very courteous and professional service.

I brought my Strat Ultra in for a stainless steel refret and I am incredibly happy with the result! Andy explained all of the fret wire options in detail with the pros/cons of each and worked with me to find the perfect setup. Im a beginner guitar player and needed to find a place to replace my strings. Found these guys online, gave them a call, and stopped in. Joel and Andy were cordial and willing to learn about my needs. They questioned why I wanted the strings replaced and learned enough to make another suggestion, which I took them up on. Never pushy and obviously cared. Their work was just right and the price was more than fair. Ive found my guitar shop.

Andy at Bayberry recently restored my grandfathers mandolin and he does fantastic work. This piece is very sentimental to me and Andy took the greatest care when handling/repairing it. I’m very satisfied with the outcome and would recommend Bayberry to anyone.

I had just had my first violin lesson and had a list of a few items I needed; a new bow, a shoulder rest, rosin and a couple books. Joel showed me options and they had everything I needed in stock. I was so enamored with my new gear that I forgot the books on the counter. But Joel called to let me know and held them for me until I could pick them up a couple days later. Ill definitely be back!

A great shop with an awesome staff. My daughter has been taking double bass lessons at Bayberry for a while and loves her instructor. This week, we rented a new bass for her from Bayberry. Oh my GOD! Had my 17 year old Telecaster completely gone through and set up by Andy, who replaced my worn out frets with new ones, replaced the cracked nut, and somehow made the thing sound and play even better than the day I got it! Quick turn around, friendly service and knowledgeable staff makes me a loyal customer. Def would recommend!

No electric guitar!! But know what? This place still ROCKS!! There is the most beautiful collection of acoustic instruments here. Guitars, violins, double bass, mandolins, dulcimers hammer dulcimer,....everything! The staff is super cool and knowledgeable. I didnt buy anything on my visit, but played tons of their stock. They were super accommodating and didnt press me, or seem put upon. I didnt need anything then, but you can be sure, I will soon be spending my guitar dollars there. Awesome place.

A bunch of really good people. I asked them to order me some pickups, and when they arrived the guys offered me advice on how to improve my guitar tone without buying the pickups. The people here are much more concerned with being helpful than anything else.

I recently had my 1980 Guild G37 worked on at this shop. A full neck reset was performed professionally and new frets were put on the guitar without charge. My original quote did not include new frets but it was determined that they were needed as the reset process progressed. They refused to take any additional payment from me...superb service and a great overall experience.

Needed two quiet for fifteen years instruments made like-new again -- if possible; a guitar and a banjo -- and Andy and crew worked wonders even better and quicker than expected. First-class everything. Five stars for sure.

My girlfriend and I stopped in because we were curious after seeing their attention grabbing ukuleles, he was very helpful in providing us with in-depth information about each individual style with a level of customer service that you don’t receive at other businesses. Years ago, my father handed down to me his ‘71 Fender Precision Bass. After 20 years of loving it myself, it was time for me to pass it on to my son. My father put new strings on once. I too put new strings on once and as I prepared to hand it down to a third generation, new strings were of course once again needed. Joel at Bayberry Music was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and, when I pressed him further “just to be sure” Joel cross checked the specs on my instrument the specs on the strings and not only sold me what I wanted but, what was right. I get goosebumps thinking that one day, Bayberry music will be involved in a 4th generation. Good people and great service.

Loved it. The private lessons teachers are super. When we size up on our daughters bass, for school, we will come here instead of where the school has chosen.

My boyfiend Cory and I semi frequent this place. We LOVE IT! Joel and Andy, whom I believe are the co-owners, are so amazing. Every single time weve gone in, they are so curtious, informative, and NEVER try to push us to buy anything. In fact, when we do go in, we typically spend at least 20 to 40 minutes in there simply playing their instruments and chatting! I just bought another ukulele tonight and I am so happy I bought from them. From instruments, to strings, to work needing done on an instrument, their prices are great! Excellent! So happy I found Bayberry Music. As they restored my 1962 Gibson J-45, I was kept up to date by email with pictures and progress reports on how everything was coming. My J-45 now plays better than it ever has and is a highlight in my day every time I take it from its case.

Bayberry music is what I want a small music shop to feel like. Joel introduced himself when I walked in and treated me more like a fellow musician than just a customer. We chatted about ukuleles while he pulled the collection of uke strings they keep in stock. I had no issue finding what I wanted and Joels knowledge wouldve helped if I wasnt sure.I got the product I wanted, learned a little about Bayberry, and was able to support a local business. Thats a win win win for me.They make their own ukuleles too! If youre a ukulele player this place is worth checking out for sure. Ill be going back to Bayberry when I need gear or work done to my instruments.

Bayberry repaired an incredibly beat up flamenco guitar for me, as well as performing an ace setup and pick guard replacement on my Martin. Highly recommended.

Top notch work and honest answers. Ive known Andy for a number of years and he is incredibly knowledgeable and talented. Prices are also extremely reasonable. Ive had him work on everything from a nearly fossilized heirloom 1914 Gibson Mandolin to a Custom Guitar (wrote a nice review of it on his website). At this point, I would be terrified to have anyone else work on my instruments (before I met Andy another supposedly pro luthier put a new neck on my guitar and completely trashed it). Would highly recommend Andy/Bayberry for set up work or any repair or restoration. You will be extremely pleased with the results.

I had a great experience working with Bayberry Music. I have owned a Stradivarius replica for the last 19 years (from middle school to now) and unfortunately neglected it for 10. It needed to be repaired after getting a scratch from a cheaply made violin case along with new strings, a new case, and a new shoulder rest. Andrew and Joel looked at the violin and gave me an estimate the same day. They costed out each suggested repair and gave me what I feel was an honest opinion as to whether each item was necessary and also a price range of the repair/replacement item. They also found that one of the items did not need to be completed (bridge height didnt need to be repaired just straightened) and therefore did not charge me. Each repair was well done and I got back my instrument in 1 week (I probably could’ve gotten it back sooner but I told them I wasn’t in a rush). Id highly recommend Bayberry for honest feedback and craftsmanship. Thank you!
