The Western Market is a Ferndale favorite. Its a small local market with speciality items. They also carry a lot of locally made products. They have a great selection of fruits and vegetables. Their fresh meat section is always fresh. If you like freshly ground sausages (beef, pork, chicken and turkey) in various flavors then this is a good place to shop.

A great shopping experience! Its a little bit pricier than most market places, but it is quality over quantity at this market! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very clean environment, shelves are wiped down products are faced appropriately. For the most part the shelves are fully stocked. Overall a great shopping experience!

About 95% of the wine I drink comes from Western Market. Their wine selection and the knowledgeable folks working the wine section make Western one of the best places to buy wine in metro Detroit. Prepared foods are excellent. They have recently remodeled and the store looks better than ever.

Such a great family owned market! They do a great job with their produce, meats, specialty cheeses, alcohol and dessert selection - what more do you need !? This place is worth supporting so I hope you will consider it next time you need groceries.

The freshest produce, you may spend a little more, but, its so worth it. Youre not having to throw out the food you just bought 1-2 days ago, your veggies and fruits are fresh and tasty beyond 2 or more days after you get them home, now thats FRESH!!!! I recommend you go and give the Western Market a try. They even have a wonderful old fashion butcher meat department. Great selection of wines, ready prepared foods to go, fresh baked goods 👍 😋, give them a try, you can Thank me later.

I have been shopping at Western Market since 1985. With all of the fancy produce places that have popped up over the years this place, Western Market, has stayed competitive price wise and keeping everything current as far as what the public prefers whether it be vegan, vegetarian, healthy, glutinous free or just fresh produce. They are the best!

Always a great selection in the store. All the staff here has been friendly and very helpful.But I love their garden center when they have it open. Wonderful selection of herbs and vegetable plants, as well as flowers and some houseplants. All very reasonably priced and Id much rather be supporting local businesses when Im buying my plants!

I have no idea how Western Market is run behind the scenes, but from the outside its obvious that the owner/management works very, very hard to continuously improve the store. They are constantly bringing in new brands, changing out inventory, trying new things... all to make for a better customer experience.On top of that, they repainted the interior, remodeled the entryway, reorganized the entire floorplan, and redesigned the butcher counter all in the space of 1 year, without closing down. Thats insane. Nobody does that because its such a pain. Making a business better is hard, non-stop work, but it feels like management here is really committed to improving all the time. The produce section here is awesome - wherever possible, they carry a high-quality local Michigan option (apples, leafy greens, asparagus etc.) They also have a great selection of clean-label packaged foods that they refresh on a frequent basis. Finally, the butcher counter is so, so good; if the owners of Western are reading this, please never change the butcher counter and never stop stocking Detroit Sausage Co breakfast links+patties. I need them. Anyway, overall a great store - yes it can be pricey, but its a small, local, gourmet grocer with a niche and high quality inventory, so the economics make sense.

My favorite grocery store. Wish they stayed open later but, other than that, Ive got NOTHING NEGATIVE to say! Everyones super friendly and willing to assist. Ive even witnessed the employees assist older customers with their bags to the car. They also did that for me while I was pregnant. 100% RECOMMEND EVERYONE SHOP HERE AT LEAST ONCE!

Great place to shop; this market carries Foods and products that other markets may not have, ei Turkey chops and smoked Turkey wings, etc. This is my go to place when I cant found what Im looking for, I guarantee this Market will have it.

This is good for small trips, honestly, I feel like they are pricier than some of the other local shops or even whole foods in Birmingham, but thats partially because this isnt a massive grocery store with a massive selection, they cater to higher quality or healthier products and just have a smaller breadth of selection compared to a place like whole foods or the holiday market in Royal Oak.

May be small market comparing with others but their products and employees are amazing.

Love their food fresh made. And the meat counter is fantastic. Love their homemade guacamole

I want to love this place but they are so expensive for no reason. The cheapest sticks of butter is $7 and basics end up costing twice as much as anywhere else. Also they blast terrible music so loud you can’t even take a phone call.

Very good food and high end, good quality. If you are looking for something a little better than your local grocery stores this is the place. A quick example is they had a $15 jug of egg nog over Christmas. No other store Ive been to had that unless it was spiked which this wasnt. So yea a bit upscale, a bit more expensive than other stores but well worth it

Good market. Not a fan at all of waiting in line outside. They need to let up on a lot of this.

Expensive but cute and local. What you would expect and you can find some cool unique brands and products. They also have some prepared foods like salads and sandwiches and a hot bar when it’s not Covid.

A great place to find high quality ingredients not found in most or all stores. Good produce and dry goods are always fun to explore. The meat counter is decent but I once received a mix of chicken thighs and breasts when I only wanted thighs. I ate them anyways because I didnt realize it till I got home. They do carry dartagnab and many other brands youll find in restaurant walk ins and dry storage. They also have some interesting meat in the frozen area that includes whole rabbit and ground veal as well as gizzards and chicken feet. Wish they sold bones for stock! The staff is friendly and will talk about the products in your hands or answer any questions that you have. Pretty much a one stop shop if you want to throw a dinner party and flex your culinary skills and knowledge with products you can talk about and a good wine and beer section to match.

There was a waiting line outside the store under a enclosure. They only allowed so many in the store at a time. Understandable, so I was not able to wait. Hopefully the pandemic will come to an end this year. We just have to keep praying. God hears us.

The market is along the lines of Whole Foods pricing or higher for many things. But you will fine some reasonable prices items as well. They have a couple of hard to find items. The staff is very customer service oriented. Unfortunately they dont usually open more than two registers. So this may not be a quick I in and out ok d of quick shopping experience based on the other shoppers in line. I have got some good quality items but be prepared to spend. They have customer loyalty cards however if you have EBT I dont believe they take that. They use all available floor space so isles are not very wide.

Freshest selection, wide variety of Vegetarian, Organic and specialty options. Friendly staff. If you hate big grocery stores stores like me, add this to your list of quick places to shop.

Love this place!! After going a while without, I discovered that Western Market sells my favorite water. Being that Im not a water drinker, its difficult for me to find something I really enjoy, so to discover that they are selling Volvic water, I am ecstatic!! This place is like Whole Foods, only better.

I have been going to this store since I moved to ferndale just over a year ago and have never met a better group of people from the owner to Maria behind the meat counter to the countless staff ensuring the shelves are stocked the store is clean and most of all the store is safe with all the covid regulations over the past year. Cant say thank you enough for all the amazing improvements that have been taking place in the store this is an absolute gem in ferndale and one that should be recognized more often!!!

I went to the west born market today to grab a few things because it was convenient. And the prices are ridiculous. The tortia chips I bought the chips were all broken and seems to me the weight of the bag was off! Or someone is stealing there food! Truck drivers, in house.Beware

Went to purchase steaks and the selection was terrible a ribeye at $16 per pound for horrible quality. Dont waste your time. Papa Joes is much better
