What a gem! The store is small, but the variety they offer is large. I love their create-your-own six-pack option which includes any and all 12 oz beers in the store. You can pull one from any six-pack you want to create your own. All 12oz bottles are $1.99 unless otherwise marked. And the owners (at least I am assuming the couple working there were the owners) were very friendly, nice and helpful. If you love beer or are just getting more into it (like me) I highly recommend checking them out.

This is my favorite beer store Ive ever encountered. The staff is amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable. The quantity and quality of the beer selection is fantastic. Free tastings on Fridays from 6pm - 8pm. Even if I didnt live close, I would go out of my way to buy my beer from here. You will not be disappointed... Unless you dont like beer. But if you dont like beer, I dont know why you would read this review.Seriously, this place is the best.

My girlfriend and I were in Detroit for the weekend, visiting from Milwaukee, and we stopped to load up on Michigan craft beers. The gentleman working at the time was extremely helpful in picking out the best Michigan had to offer and making recommendations along the way. I cant wait to try the mead!I highly recommend this place, especially for those visiting from out of town.

My girlfriend and I love this place and it is definitely our beer store of choice. We regularly attend the beer tastings and really enjoy just going and looking around, although I dont think weve ever left empty handed. Everyone is great and very knowledgeable. Good people with the best craft beer store around. Well worth the drive.

My beer store of choice! You arent going to find swill here. And what really sets this fancy beer store apart from others, is that the prices arent fancy. In fact, the grocery store across the street boasts the largest selection of Michigan beers. However, 8 Degrees Plato Beer Co often has the same beer cheaper. Walking in and looking around, you would expect the prices to be a little inflated, but they really arent - they are very much in line with the market.They also have regular tastings that get packed. Employees are extremely knowledgable and helpful. They have other products besides beer, too, including drinking related merchandise and cool gift ideas for the beer lover.

This place has an extensive beer and cider selection that has never left me bored. The staff are very knowledgeable and great at providing advice and recommendations to ensure you find a great beer every time. They also host free beer tastings put on my breweries or vendors every Friday evening.

For a beer lover or enthusiast. Amazing selection that is almost overwhelming; and amazing staff who are passionate about what they do. They will take the time to help you get wherever you are trying to go with tastes. Wish I could give them more than 5 stars!

The staff is very helpful but i honestly didnt think the selection was that broad. I found a few beers i hadnt seen before but for the most part found many familiar brews. Better selection at Pine Knob Wine Shop in Clarkston.

I love this place. Tim is very knowledgeable and his use to social media for beer alerts is fantastic. I wish they had a bit more cooler space, but thats only because Im not patient when it comes to tasty beer and want to drink it immediately ;)

PERMANENTLY CLOSED AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2018.The two owners decided they were too busy running their trendier Midtown location and their New Center trendy Michigan gifts shop (because thats exactly what New Center needed another of...) to keep up with this original location. Why they refused to just hire a general manager like any normal business is beyond me.Their closing is a shame, because they were easily the best beer shop for a very long distance in every direction. I bought beer from them for 7 years. They had the most knowledgable staff, the best connections with breweries and distributors, and the best ideas on making interesting beer available to the public-- all without the preposterous markup for stale product found at your typical party store. Losing them is a true loss, though I cant help but be deeply bitter at the way they did it.

Very nice bottle shop with a good variety of the best from local, regional and national breweries. They always have some of Shorts (still my favorite brewery in the nation) best hard-to-find brews by the case or sixer. Their cider collection is getting pretty respectable as well.

Selection is great.Id like it if they lowered the prices of the Build Your Own 6 pack just a bit, but that because I spend time in Chicago and many stores there do it, and usually only charge $9.99. I know theyre more Indy and small and not too many stores do it here so I get it.Definitely they have a lot of beer YOU havent tried because Ive definitely tried a LOT of beer in my day and I still find things I havent.If you go here and are like, Ehhhh. This beer selection Sucks, you probably should be less concerned with beer and more concerned with your alcohol problem. 😉 Just Sayin

Talk about a great (almost overwhelming, almost) selection of brews. The staff is bada** too. If you dont know what to try just ask someone and youll be in for a treat. And oh yeah, pretzel rods!

OMG! This place is AMAZING! Dont bother looking for a Budweiser, Coors, or any of that nonsense, they are strictly small brewery and microbrews. The owners and workers are all super knowledgeable and helpful! Personally, I love the mix & match ability with 6-packs, I get to try all sorts of beers without committing to a full 6pack. Best place for microbrews and mead. If you want Budweiser and Miller, go somewhere else. They dont carry it. What they do have is the largest and most extensive collection of microbrews, specifically local brews, around. The staff is great. They have tasting parties regularly. No reason to go anywhere else.

I love 8 Degrees Plato’s beer selection, so in some ways, it pains me to write this review. However, I can’t get over the resistance and attitude with which I have been met, on multiple occasions, when attempting to return depositable containers from beer I have purchased AT THEIR STORE!The Michigan Bottle Deposit Law states in MCL Section 445.572(4) that “...a dealer shall accept from a person an empty returnable container of any kind, size, and brand sold or offered for sale by that dealer and pay to that person its full refund value in cash.”Yet, Plato claims that they will only take containers if you are buying more beer from their store and even if you are buying beer, they have a limit to the number they will take.My reprimand: If you don’t have the space to store returnable containers within your four walls, then figure something else out.The bottom line: I can’t pick and choose which laws I follow based on their convenience to me. The same applies to you.

The owners can recommend fantastic selections, and are very easy-going about splitting up 6-packs. They keep their clientele informed via social media and partner with local and national breweries/meaderies to do tastings on Fridays. It is a fantastic staple of downtown Ferndale!** If youre looking for a cool date night, they also have an arrangement with MiChigo Pizza (right down 9 Mile) that allows you to bring beer in and sit down to order pizza. The pizza place will keep your beer cold while you wait. We have done this with friends, as well. Its a blast. **
