I had an issue suddenly happen with my car, my stabilitrak on my GMC. They had a great rating so I chose to take my car there and so glad I did. Being a woman you have to be careful with car repairs and dishonest repair shops, not here. They were informative, honest and friendly. In the end, the stabilitrak wasnt the issue, it was the ignition coil. Some places could have tried to take advantage of this situation, they did not. They also helped me with an oil change and safety inspection; all done in one day. They have won a customer for life!

Once again I had an issue that was unplanned. I called and Elmer said he would do his best but it may be a day or two as they were really busy. Much to my surprise Elmer called me a few hours later and said the car would be ready before they closed that same day. This shop continues to take care of me and I highly recommend them.

I cant say enough good things about Nova Family Auto Services. The employees have always been attentive, kind, and personable. The service time has always had great turn around for me (I work nearby but dont live nearby, so same-day service is a must). Ive never felt like they were taking advantage of me or pushing me for unnecessary services.All and all, a great garage to go to for whatever you need (Ive done everything from oil changes to air conditioner repair to transmission flushes here).

Nova Family Auto did an excellent job in assisting me. They let me know the procedure for fixing my air conditioning and explained the issue after the initial diagnosis. This was my second time going to nova family Otto and both times they have impressed me! I came without an appointment to get an inspection on my car and within the day they finish the inspection fixed my brakes and replaced my headlight. They always have a quick turnaround and they’re always very accommodating and kind and at a great price I might add. The last time I came here I got a quote for over $2500 at the dealership for a wiper motor issue, then I came here and they performed that maintenance plus another thing for less than half of that . That day I had called them after I left the dealership and they told me to come right in and drop my car off and they would start working on it. I am always very impressed by them and each time Elmer has helped me and and he is great!

My insurance company (USAA) recommended this store for repairs. They are pretty strict about who they endorse so I chose them. When thee tow truck driver came to pick up my vehicle and I told him where we were going he said, Nice. I pressed him on that and he told me everyone in the business knows this shop to bee a reputable shop that does good work. This obviously made me feel better. After picking up my car for the third time (its a 17 YO truck with 240K on it) I will attest that they do excellent work. Everyone that I have dealt with there has been honest, upfront about cost, and I have yet to have an issue with any of the work that they have done. Use these folks with confidence.

Car was continually not starting, bought a new battery, same issue, so I brought it in expecting a big issue with a big price tag. Within a couple hours of bringing it in with no appointment, I got a call from them stating there was a simple loose bolt on the alternator terminal. They fixed it up and sent me on my way with no charge necessary. Amazing. They could have easily made up some kind of problem, charged me a ton, and I would not have been the wiser. New to the area and I have definitely found my car service station.

It makes me really sad to post this but I feel that I have a responsibility to. Ive been coming here since 2010 for service of my 2010 Honda Pilot. But, since the change in management, things have changed. My car has 161k miles on it and I wasnt sure if the repairs over the past year were due to age/wear or not. More and more major/expensive repairs were recommended which included a $1500 steering rack replacement. Recently this Sat, my alternator broke down - they replaced it last year and luckily that was under warranty. BUT, they told me that the reason it broke was a leak from my rocker arm control valve but that they would still honor their warranty - the estimate was $715 plus tax. After reading some recent reviews, I decided to go get a second opinion from a friends shop in Sterling on 9/30/19. The valve is in perfect condition and likely will never need to be changed. I am so happy to save $ but honestly very disappointed in nova family auto. I did call them to tell them and they still insisted their was oil leaking, which there was not.Update on 10/1/19 - went to another auto shop in Falls Church city today and confirmed there was no leak at all and the rocker control arm valve does not need to be replaced.

Weve lived here two years. I trust this team. Theyve given me honest assessments and produce quality, honest work everytime. Finally found an auto shop in the area that seems trustworthy. This is my first time with nova family, but they actually seem concerned with saving you money and giving good advice. They tell you upfront what car issues they find are critical and which you might be able to wait on. They also voluntarily told me that some labor costs overlapped for my issues and they could remove some of my quoted cost.And to top it off, they have a 20% discount for first timers! My car isn’t done yet, but it’s been a great experience so far

These guys are great. They are quick in their work, do a great job, and I trust them. I have never felt like they have tried to take advantage of me, even though I dont know a ton about cars. The quality of their customer service shows through in my most recent experience with them - on a busy Saturday for them, I called on a whim to see if they could take my car in for an oil change. They did and turned around the job in 2 hours. This is exceptional service in my opinion for the DC-metro area.

Superb. My car had been overseas for a decade. I knew it needed quite a bit of work. I had planned to take it to the dealer to make sure the work was done right, but I decided to try Nova based on all the good reviews. I was not disappointed. They are very accommodating in terms of scheduling; they were thorough; and they communicate very well. I took advantage of the first time customer discount and the ride service - they provided both without a hitch. I will definitely return to them for all of my future car repair needs and I will recommend Nova to friends and colleagues without reservation.

Elmer and Joe were incredibly helpful in getting my car in for a very quick, last minute turnaround to do a tire rotation right before my 300+ mile trip. And it was the right price too! They even catered to my request to have the lugs removed without the use of power tools to prevent them from getting scuffed, which Oscar the mechanic on duty fulfilled. There are very few places I trust with my pride and joy, and this is one of them. Dont hesitate to do business with them.

I started bringing my car to them about six years ago for a checkup and havent gone anywhere else since, despite moving farther away. They have consistently saved me money on both routine maintenance and repairs, which have always been done timely and with utmost professionalism. Ive sent numerous friends to them, and theyve had the same great experience. As honest and skilled a shop as you could hope to find.

I have taken my cars to the same mechanic for 20yrs, but they do not do state inspections, so I tried Nova Family Auto Services. After telling me that my brake fluid had metal shaving in it, and that I needed to completely flush the system and replace all my brakes, I took the car to my mechanic, who told AND SHOWED me, that my fluid was not black and the flakes are normal and were collected in the spot they were supposed to be, and not free-floating in the fluid. I believe they were trying to take advantage of me as a woman who does not know about cars, so neither my boyfriend, nor I, will take our cars there again.

NOVA Family Auto Service provided me the repair that I needed and only needed on the same day I brought my car in. They replaced the broken button on my cars shift stick. Two local Honda dealers provided me with quotes that were literally 3 and 4 times the total price charged to me by NOVA Family Auto Service! I told the second dealer that they were $100 more than the first dealer and they just shrugged their shoulders at me like they had no control over their prices. I strongly recommend the services provided by NOVA Family Auto Services!

I had an excellent experience with this mechanic shop. They were able to repair both axles on my early 2000s import within a day. The price is lower than other shops in the area but service and competence are not sacrificed. I recommend this location to all my friends whenever they ask if I know any good mechanics in the area.

I came here based on Google reviews stating this place was honest and fairly priced. My experience was anything but.1. I was not informed of the diagnostic fee beforehand (I believe this is illegal). This was especially bad because I had already had the problem diagnosed elsewhere and just asked NOVA to quote me on replacing the needed part. NOVA insisted on their own diagnosis and then tried to charge me for it!2. They told me I would need both headlights restored to pass safety inspection. False. I passed safety inspection at another shop with no mention of my headlights. One of the lights was only 3 years old.3. Costs were outrageous. $150 for the headlight restoration. I could do it myself for $30 or less. $210 for an o2 sensor (part only) that cost $80 elsewhere. $80 for air filters.Is this the way they treat all customers, or is it just because I seemed like easy prey as a young woman? Please. Stop quoting people for work they dont need done. Inform all customers of diagnostic fees ahead of time. Customers - do your research and be wary. Nobody deserves the experience I had at this shop.

Nova Family Auto is a breath of fresh air. I bought a used car and was told it would be in excellent condition for a while, but after a few days it would not start. I went to Nova and they jumped it and it worked, after a couple of days it died again, came back and he asked me to leave it for in depth review. They found the alternator was done. We swapped it. He was so kind and worked with my warranty to secure a portion of the payment. After a few days, again would not start, came back. He was shocked. He swapped my battery right off his shelf, no charge. Came back again with same starting problem, and he they took it in. After a couple of hours of looking into it, they suspected it was the wiring but needed to dig deeper. Long story short.........next day, they called me and told me it was fixed...no charge again. My car has been purring along since then.I quite like these guys. They are honest and make you feel safe.

I have been bringing our 4 cars NFAS for years now. They are extremely knowledgeable about older Volvo’s and getting to know our newer S60. They have performed small repairs and up to doing head gaskets on our Subaru Outback wagon. Carl, Ki, Elmer and now Joe are always welcoming and work efficiently to get you going and out the door. They will not hesitate to stand by their work and go the extra mile to figure out difficult mechanical gremlins. I am knowledgeable about cars and still like doing some repairs. They have always been accommodating to assist if I can’t manage an issue myself and get me in at the earliest time. They are a truly fair, honest and rare establishment.It had been a long time due to the pandemic that we brought our car in for service. On 4/8/21 we took our Volvo S60 in for inspection, oil change, transmission flush and possible rear brakes. The dealer (recall repair) had suggested a need for rear brake replacement due to worn pads and I asked Elmer and Joe to double check. Upon inspection Joe told me the pads were fine for now and the other services were done with no problem. I also usually ask if Alex (mechanic) can do the repairs as he is always careful, explains in detail and honest as the day is long if I ask any questions. They continue to be honest and trustworthy.

Being new to the area it’s always a bit of trial and error finding a new shop to get your car serviced at. Nova Family Auto Service provided quick response to an appointment request, outstanding service, and were overall very friendly. We will definitely get our vehicles serviced here again in the future!2021 update: Nova Family Auto has continued to be a reliable and friendly auto service location during the two years we’ve lived in Virginia, and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Nova Family Auto is the best service shop in Northern Virginia due to their trustworthiness, pricing, quality of service, and customer service. My Toyota dealer charged me $330 to have an HD headlight replaced, while Nova Family Autos price was $200 in comparison - on top of that the customer service was infinitely better. I was getting the run around at the dealer for weeks with my car. My check engine light randomly came on and sometimes my car would stall. I was complaining about it at work and a lady I worked with said I should go see Carl. I showed him the most recent estimate from the dealer. He took 20% off and set me up with a rental car.I had already been to the dealer 4 times for the same problem. Carl fixed it once and I havent had to go back in over 9 months, aside from oil changes.

Elmer and Joe are the best. I bring my company vehicle and my personal vehicles here for service exclusively. The quality of work and level of customer service cant be beaten by any other shops in the area.

Great place. We had them do a timing belt and a number of other maintenance items. Everything seems to be running fine. They offer a nice discount for first time customers so we loaded a lot of repairs into that one discount.

I have used NOVA since it opened, over 10 years plus now. They have worked on my car since it was new and it now has 175,000 miles on it, and running great. They have always only fixed what was needed and never what was not. They have done major repairs when needed, and have gone out of their way to find parts for my husbands 1989 Conquest, which at this point is not easy. If you want good service, at the right price, these are the guys you want.

This is the shop for you, if you drive an older Volvo model, like a 240 or a 740 wagon, etc. Great mechanics that can quickly determine and fix issues with your Volvo!

So far I havent used Nova for major service to my car but every time I stop in for something minor (a state inspection, for example) theyre super friendly, give me a good estimate on how long things are going to take and they always get me taken care of.With every minor experience being so positive theyre the first place Ill go when I need something big done.

About as good as you can get in a shop. Very friendly, and willing to explain exactly whats wrong and how big a problem it is - in fact, theyll even let you know if a problem is only a noise/annoyance and not a safety or reliability problem. Most shops seem to miss that distinction to get the work. Im pretty knowledgeable about cars, and I havent gotten one explanation from them that was suspect. And I havent found better prices in the area. Big thumbs up!
