I now own a 2013 Honda Civic. I bought this car as a commuter to and from work, and it’s excellent! We were notified of minor scratches and the car, but no issues internally. It has been working really well with only 60,000 miles on it. When I got into CarMax they were very friendly and professional, talking me through every step.

Bought my Audi Q7 from Carmax in Fairfield Ca on 10/9. We waited HOURS to sign paperwork. They seem understaffed and very inexperienced. My car started having problems almost immediately. SOS call malfunction light and AC not working. Not to mention the back passenger seat back was literally hanging off! I also received no keys for the roof rack and was told you can just have it re-keyed. Not sure why Carmax hadnt had that done... I was told that ALL repairs within 30 days would be covered. Fast forward... Carmax instructed me to take the car to an Audi dealership because they were unable to fix the SOS call malfunction light. No problem. Can Audi also fix the AC, seat back and roof rack keys? Carmax said yes they can do all repairs. PERFECT... Well not perfect. I made an appointment with Audi for 10/20 at 8am to have my car worked on . We waited at the Audi dealership for 2 HOURS because no one could get a hold of the service department at Carmax- they literally just don not asnwer the phone. I felt like I was trying to call the DMV! We were told we could get a loaner or rental- WRONG. No one bothered to answer the phone at Carmax so we ended up just leaving and getting ride back to Vacaville from a friend. By midway though the day Carmax FINALLY responded to calls and emails and approved a diagnostic check. By this time it was too late for Audi to do the full diagnosis so it had to wait another day. Thursday afternoon I received an estimate for about 6k worth of work that needed to be done including MOTOR MOUNTS! How can Carmax sell a car with all these defects in the first place. AGAIN Carmax service department wasnt answering calls ALL day not returning calls or emails. I called corporate and had them get someone on the phone to help us. We were told my manger isnt here so no one can approve the work today. So my car sat ANOTHER 24hours. I was thinking that by FRIDAY we would receive some word from Carmax so that Audi could get started. NOPE. Called Carmax starting in the morning and again- NO ONE answers the phone and no one returns calls or emails. I called off and on ALL DAY and FINALLY got a hold of someone at 4pm! 4PM.... stating the manager was still not there to approve the work but they would try to approve some of it. By then its too late anyway to start on anything so my car sat over the weekend and is still at the Audi dealership. I was finally given a rental car on Friday afternoon after being without a car for 72 hours by then. I have no idea when my car will be done but I have absolutely lost all hope in Carmax and will NEVER do business with them again. I have been a customer for over 15 years and have purchased and sold 6 vehicles to them. I am saddened by the steep decline in service and this we dont need your business attitude. They dont stand behind their word and make things extremely difficult if your new vehicle has issues right away. I am posting this in hopes that something changes at the Fairfield location because its not in line with their mission statement and values.

My experience here was awful. The person who helped me was named TYLER. STAY AWAY from him my any means possible. For one he didnt approach me or my family in an appropriate way. Didnt even bother to say hello or how are you guys doing, NOTHING and treated us as nothing. He was not supportive or engaged with us. Seemed as if he didnt want to help us in the first place. He threatened me and my family by having the police involved for absolutely no reason. He wouldnt comply with us or try to talk things out. He was VERY disrespectful and rude!!!

I was visiting Los Angeles from Northern California and was experiencing an emergency situation with the vehicle I purchased from another CarMax location a few weeks prior. I was able to take the vehicle in to swap it out with no problems at all to the Buena Park location. I ended up purchasing a 2016 Honda Civic that got me home to Northern California safely. Overall we had a pleasant experience. There were some unprofessional glitches that are easily correctable . We made an appointment to see a vehicle. That initial appointment went well, timely, professional. We had two concerns about the vehicle. Questions that couldn’t be answered that day. We were assured that we would receive a call back the following day to address those questions.The following we had not heard back so we called. We spoke to the manager who set up a second appointment to address the 2 questions and proceed with a purchase. When we returned later that day we were (what we felt) ignored. When asked about our appointment we were told that we were on the wait list for the next available sales agent. Like a walk in, not like an appointment. When we finally were appointed a sales associate he was great. Very helpful and when we posed our 2 questions regarding the vehicle, he was in agreement. The sales manager was not. In my professional experience, the sales manager is a regarded respected position. I felt that the he gave the sales associates little guidance, couldn’t care less about the 2 problems with the car and the sales associate was left to apologize for the lack of customer service they were able to provide.If the vehicle wasn’t exactly what I was looking for I would have walked away. The sales associate was great! Sales manager, not so great.I love my care and will have to pay to fix the 2 items out of pocket. I also had to have the car detailed myself. It was not done well at the time of delivery!

Carmax was my first choice in the Fairfield area when I went looking for a car. We’ve gotten a car from another location and the service was great. Unfortunately when we came into the building we weren’t greeted we had to stand in front of the person at the front desk and wait for him to acknowledge us. Nobody moved to help us at all they didn’t even seem interested in potentially landing a sale. Half the cars I was interested in were actually locked and a third of them had odors one even smelling faintly of urine. I was ready to possibly drive off the lot today or even within this coming week but the service alone was enough to make me reconsider and then the selection or lack thereof was the final nail in the coffin. Maybe another location will have friendlier and more eager staff members.

Wow, first time here and I cant believe how easy it is. I Took My 2018 Jeep Rubicon in and talked to a gal named Sherry for like 10 or 15 mins if that giving her My info to enter Me into there system and another 20 mins later, BAM she was giving Me a paper with the amount that Id get for it and that the offer wud be good for up to 7days. I was likeOk and bounced. Shiittt I drove back an hour or 2 later and got paid what they had stated. The Girl though who was to finish things off with Me(No Pun Intended) was Hella Cool and MY GOODNESS I wish I cud have conversated more of anything with Her. Hell I might sell another car I think. Anyways yeah I had a good experience and thank you to Sherry and the Hotti at the end that finished Me Off(No Pun Intended).

Went over to a couple of dealerships in Fairfield: honda and Acura. The salesman gave me a degrading quote for our 2016 Toyota Sienna. Only had 98k miles. Took it to carmax in Fairfield, Ca and they quoted us near Kbb value. Carmax is the way to go to sell your car.

If i could of left zero stars i would of. I got a car from here in April and everything was good on the car during the test drive, then when i brought it home i noticed my brakes were bad. This is literally the worst car dealership ever i regret settling for them. The amount of times I’ve called, left messages and don’t get a call back is ridiculous. It has now been about 4 months since i had this car and I’ve took it FOUR different times for the same issue, i thought my appointment last week was going to resolve my issue but once again i can hear my brakes. There is no reason for the mechanic at a dealership to NOT BE ABLE TO DO BRAKES? And once again I’ve called and even sent an email and i still haven’t got a call back. If you plan on getting a car from here be prepared to be disappointed. I work and go to school i don’t have time to keep going back and fourth to not get the job done right.

The appraiser damaged my vehicle when driving it . The lead service manager offered to paint my 1400 dollar widebody hellcat rim as part of their resolution. The tire was gashed and needed replacing. The business office could not answer my questions regarding their buy policy. The lead sales manager was not receptive to the situation they caused. Overall I feel like Carmax is running a poor business and their employees are poorly trained. It was an embarrasing experience.

Carmax Fairfield is a good place with many different types of cars that fit in everyones budget, cars are bought and sold on the spot, you can have the car of your dreams delivered to the carmax nearest you sometimes for free or for a fee. Ive recommended CarMax to all my friends and family and anyone who will take the time to listen to me! In my lifetime, Ive bought 5 cars from dealerships, and my experience at CarMax was BY FAR the best experience Ive ever had. Even before you get to the lot, their website is clean and organized and the photos they put up make it easy for you to shop around their different lots without making the drive there. But when you get to the lot its even better. Their lobbies are clean and spacious with a beverage counter. The employees are welcoming and friendly and theyre not dressed in stuffy suits yet professional enough to know that you are in a place of business. I was impressed from the first step in the lobby. Getting to my favorite part of this experience: Nicole Peterson, my sales consultant. I came to her from a really bad experience at another dealership. Her welcoming manner immediately put me at ease. She was upfront, honest, and incredibly friendly. She really took care of me and difficult situation I was in at the time. She made sure that all my needs and expectations were met and she was very transparent and knowledgeable about the financial aspect of not only the loan I chose, but also about the VERY affordable extended warranty that CarMax offers. (Ive always opted out of purchasing extended warranties in the past because Ive always felt as though they were just trying to get more money out of me.) The prices were reasonable and the deductibles, which made it easy for me to purchase it for my peace of mind. The part I really liked is that CarMax doesnt have a financial officer that sits in a separate office and you sit and wait for that person to call around all over the place to find a loan for you with a good rate. At CarMax it is transparent as transparent can be! They dont even turn the computer monitor to face only them. Everything is done in front of you! CarMax works with 10 banks and you get the status back almost instantaneous, and you can choose the loan. I was really impressed with that. Nicole walked me through the whole process all the way to signing the paperwork with the finance dept. She even had my truck cleaned while everything was happening! Thank you CarMax and Nicole for making this whole experience stress free for me! Im a CarMax fan and will definitely be back for another purchase in the future!

I had an online appraisal done for my car. When I got there for my scheduled appointment time, I was directed straight to finance. I talked to the girl who was currently working and she told us that we were checked in and to have a seat. Two hours go by and I’m like “they’re not this busy,” so I went up to check in with them and they had no idea who I was, what I was waiting for or which car was mine. The girl that checked me in had left for the day and didn’t actually check me in at all. I had to wait an additional 30 or so minutes before anyone came to talk to me and the girl who did asked if I was ready to go sign paperwork and had a severe attitude. She later apologized multiple times saying that she’s from a different store and just helping out and that’s not how the other store would be treating their clients. So, yeah it was absolutely the worst customer care I’ve ever received.

Let me just say how easy the process to buy a car this was. I made a appointment Sunday morning to look at a Corolla to use as my commuter car, as I looked around the lot I looked over the Corolla and my said to look around and not to settle on this car. Im glad she did, I found a 2011 Hyundai Sonata SE in pristine condition and low miles. The Sales Rep Jessalyn was very helpful in helping us with this car..I told her I wasnt sure about financing but she said she would crunch the numbers and show me what it would be.I told her that I would not be ready to purchase the car till Monday since I really wasnt thinking about purchasing today. She said that she would hold it for me till Monday.I spent the morning of Monday emailing Jessalyn all the info needed and when I arrived at Carmax, paperwork was ready. We spent less than a hour there.5 Stars to CarmaxAnd 100 Stars to Jessalyn for outstanding Service

I was initially thrilled with my experience - found the car I wanted, traded in my old car, and was able to do the whole thing right outside my own house. Very helpful sales associates, purchase paperwork returned to me as promised the next day.The problem started a few months later when I still had not received my title, plates, or registration. Called the DMV, they said it had been pending for two months but Carmax hadn’t provided my insurance information or paid the fees yet. Finally got through to someone at Carmax after leaving my name and number numerous times and getting no call back. They conveniently had an appointment the very next week to follow up on my case. That was over a month ago and I still have no resolution. When I get through to a representative they seem to always be about to follow up with the dmv but never return my call to share their findings. Now no matter how many times I call the business office trying to speak to the dmv representative they are never available and do not return my calls.Since purchasing my car I have moved out of state, and now I am stuck driving a car that I have no proof of ownership for despite paying cash in full. I cannot register my car or get a license plate so I am driving with expired temporary CA plates. I can’t get a new drivers license or register to vote.Buyer beware - this may seem like a great, convenient service but good luck getting anyone to answer the phone if you have a problem. Especially if that problem is their own lack of follow through on seemingly simple procedures.

I don’t know who’s worse carmax or carhop. Saw a used vehicle that was in my price range. Filled out the “Pre-Approved” application got approved then I placed the car on hold. Well the next day I was called by an agent who told me the car was no longer available but I had other options🧐 I was like how is the car gone when I put it on hold after being approved. He really didn’t have answer for so I went with another car a 2013 Toyota Corolla for $10,995 with 98k miles on it. I have a low credit score (610) from lack of credit I told the salesman that I had $1000 cash to put down and a co-signer he said ok that sounds good. He ran our credit and only their bank picked up the loan yes!!! their bank!!!!. See carmax also has in house financing( I bet people didn’t know that I didn’t either until today) in addition to outside lenders. My car payment would have been $323 which was ok but when he said my APR would be 28% I was absolutely flabbergasted I couldn’t believe what he said 28% for a 7.5 year old car and 72 months of payments that’s an 10k extra totaling 23k for a used little Toyota Corolla. I felt so disrespected with those numbers that I just hung up the call and didn’t answer when he called back. You would think during a global pandemic they would offer lower interest rates to get cars off their lot but no. Long story short don’t waste your time or credit score with this company you’re better off going with a loan shark.

CarMax desperately needs help with their customer service. I paid to have a car transferred. It was supposed to take 7-14 days. I was still waiting for the car after a month and every time I called for an update I spoke with a different person who was unfamiliar with my situation. There was no follow through when they said they would call me back.

Only 1 stars because I like the car but they get 0 stars due to my car buying experience being horrible! After searching for nearly months, I found a car that I wanted at their Fairfield Ca location. I Called the number listed and a representative named James (I presume sales) assisted me with questions that I had about the car. However, He couldn’t answer all of my questions about the car so he said he’d call me back (never received a call back). He also told me that the price listed included all of the taxes and fees. When I arrived to the store they advised me that the information James provided was inaccurate. So I was basically misinformed. First, James told me that I had to make an appt in order for the Fairfield location to even see me and give me an appraisal for my trade. He said they do not accept walk ins, although on their website it states “walk ins” welcome! When I arrived there for my appt they were accepting walk ins. Secondly, About 3 hours prior to my appt I called again to ask additional questions about the car because I needed some answers and I didn’t want to waste my time or gas driving to Fairfield for nothing (I live an hour away). James still had not returned my call and I was on hold for over an hour so I finally hung up! Their call wait time is absolutely ridiculous. It took me 30-45 mins when I initially called to get a live person on the phone. I filed a complaint with their store manager and have no clue what he’ll do with the complaint. It didn’t appear to be too important. Ironically, the staff weren’t surprised either. Apparently they hear these complaints often is what they told me. The price of the car was ok. I feel they ripped me off a little in my trade in. They gave me a $9500 offer (in person) after inspection and then dropped it to $7500 after a mechanic drove it. Apparently they detected a transmission issue. I’ve owned that car for 8 years no issues to date but you can’t debate with them. They have the final say. After making a decision to just buy the car (all cash!) they were unable to accommodate me at all for any of the issues raised! The manger offered a couple of oil change coupons (which I did not receive). I had to wait almost 3 hours for someone to come out and finalize all of the paperwork due to being short staffed on Saturday! I ended up leaving at around 9:00pm! Thirdly, as I attempted to use my navigation system, I find that the The SD card is missing, so navigation and other things are not working properly! They told me I’d have to call Service so that one could be ordered. He even told me (as to warn me) if no know one calls you back just keep calling daily until you get someone. So wish me luck. I’ll probably have to wait months before my SD card arrives by mail because I refuse to drive all the way back to their store. This place has too many issues. If I didn’t want my new car so bad I probably would’ve left and took my business elsewhere. I bought this car outright! No financing. My heart was set on this car. I’d been searching for months. I won’t be returing to a CarMax anywhere in the future. The employees look exhausted and underpaid! I left there feeling upset instead of happy and excited. This car buying experience was ruined for me. If your looking to buy a car and want to feel appreciated for bringing business and you want a great car buying experience... think three times before calling or heading over to CarMax. I’ve had much better experience dealing directly with dealerships. They actually go above and beyond and make you feel like they want your business. They accommodate and are much more easier to work with. That’s my personal opinion.

I sold my car to Car Max, Car Max appraised it, then Car Max gave me $ 6000 offer in writing, but when I went to complete the transaction, Car Max changed the offer in to $ 5000, so your company took advantage of me for $ 1000, so I only got $ 5000. I had a very good experience the Second time I went in to your store on Monday, April 19th. The Agent was very courteous, professional, and was able to complete my sale within an hour or so. I was happy with my offer and the amount I received after the Payoff of my Vehicle. I received a check within moments and I was on my way. Great job by the Agent.I have to say my first visit on Friday, April 16th was not such a great experience. I arrived when the store first opened, and I presented my online offer to the person at the Business office window. I was then introduced to a buyer who appraised my car and was preparing the final offer for me. Then we needed to evacuate the Building due to a Gas Leak inside the Building. We waited outside for about 20 minutes or so while they made sure the Building was safe and then everyone went back inside. I understand these unexpected things can happen during the course of a day.I went inside to wait for the buyer to come out as she had told me previously that it would only be a few more minutes. I sat and waited for about 30 to 35 minutes, without anyone coming out to me. There were only 3 or 4 customers in the whole Building. So, i went to the Window to see what progress was on my Deal, and no one seemed to know what happened. I told a woman at the Window that i was waiting for my buyer to finalize my Deal, and she asked me Do you have a lease on the Car I told her yes, and she told me that it could take a long time, possibly hours to get a hold of Toyota Leasing to be able to get the final payoff number. By this time, there were 4 or 5 customers behind me in line waiting to speak to someone at the Window. At that time, the woman at the Window told me, would you mind stepping to the side so I can take care of the Customers behind you. What??????? I thought I was a customer. Then I left. So, that was my experience on the first visit to Carmax, not very favorable, and I would have to give that visit one Star. Needless to say, I went back the following Monday Morning knowing that Carmax had a decent reputation. Luckily for me, that day (April 19th) I had a great Agent who took take of everything for me. So, as far as recommending Carmax, I guess it would depend on what day and what agent you get to help you.

I took my car lease to Carmax. I was told they will payoff the lease and buy my car so it sounded like a good deal. Now a month after selling my car to Carmax they contact me saying I owe them over $400. I ask why. They say because the payoff quote must not have been accurate. Why is that my problem I ask? Because I signed a Carmax contract that says I’m on the hook in case Carmax or my lease company screws up on the payoff quote. Nobody at Carmax told me that and of course I did not notice that in the contract. Carmax is misleading and has poor customer service when you actually need help. I am really appalled at their business practices.

It started out good over the phone. It was okay finishing out the buying process. However, we did see an item that needed to be fixed on the outside of the bumper and they fixed. However, when they returned the car to us it was not clean it was dirty on the inside. Then once we received the license plate we realized that the $400registration was due in May 2021 although we did not get the car until 10/22/2020. We were not given this information when we did the transaction. If we were we could have negotiated that cost. In the past I have never had to come up with registration earlier than a year it was always one year from the purchase date. Put a damper on my experience with CarMax Fairfield.

The first car i got from them was a breeze and it went very smooth no problems at all i wish Nova was still working there she was amazing!!!!!!!!! I was better off going to where the car was shipped from because it was ready to test drive and buy, but now thats its been at this carmax its been a month and im still waiting to be able to get the car not only that I had 2 of the same cars sent there just different features and I still was not able to see that yet its like how long do a smog take to get thats very unprofessional a customer should never have to wait this long for a car.... very disappointing!!! And here is the kicker every time I drive to work I can see the cars i had shipped there sitting in the back of there store not touch lol like really

The best part was getting to see and drive the car I order from Spokane WA. It was exactly as described --I was hesitant to buy from CarMax --- but tried it out. Love the no-haggling. The process seemed simpler and did not need to threaten to get up and leave because of the prices etc.The worst part --when I went to see and drive the car for the first time, I had an appointment, but waited for an hour. By the time I was done driving and checking it out -- I was tired after a long day and had to come back the next day to complete the transaction. All in all...I would buy from them again. thank you! The wife and I found a car in Santa Fe, NM. We flew flew from the bay area to NM to test drive and check out the car, we decided we like it and paid to ship back to California. The shipping time took longer than I expected but still made it on time from the date I was given. Once it arrived it took about 2 1/2weeks for us to get the call to come see and buy it, I can say that the fires really slowed things down in the area though so nothing against carmax. From start to finish it was really smooth, no hassle, no hounding us to buy, which is great cause I hate dealing with car salesman. I did my financing through my credit union so that was all done prior to going to carmax to buy it. I would definitely do business again and highly recommend them. I purchased in Fairfield.

We bought our car in the middle of a pandemic! We made an appointment to test drive the car, but first had to complete all of our financing paperwork in case we were interested in buying. Although strange, we thought it was easier than sitting at a dealership for hours waiting for the financing to go through.On the day of our test drive we showed up at the dealership in Fairfield, test drove the car and drove our new car home in the matter of about an hour and a half. The staff was very nice and helpful!

I am SO disappointed with the lack of communication and follow-through on behalf of the service staff that I have encountered. No one reached out to me at all while my vehicle was in for service. I had to call them daily for updates. When I picked my vehicle up, the service agent was unable to provide me with any documentation for what work had been completed on my vehicle. Ive left multiple messages for the service manager but have never received a returned phone call. Really regretting the extended warranty that I purchased. Wont be back.
