Ive been taking my truck Red Dog to Army Mechanics since I had it inspected after purchase. I recently had a starter/ignition issue that I couldnt figure out and Dave came out and solved it. Reasonable pricing, and I love the fact that they are retired military. I will continue to take my vehicles to Army Mechanics for future service and repairs.

These guys are awesome.. I found them when my truck wouldn’t start and they were able to find the issue and resolve it. Unfortunately an issue came up with a bad injector from the dealership. I called them up even though it had been over a year since the repair. Fortunately I don’t drive the truck very much and with how many few miles had been put on it since the repair the dealership warranties the injector and they installed the new part for free since the issue came from a faulty part. They do quality work for a great price. I have recommended their shop to numerous people. Some have gone to them and were satisfied as well. I will continue to take my truck and other vehicles to them.

My MCI MC-12 Motor-coach ran out of fuel on El Camino Real. I consulted MCI for technical assistance (which fell short of success) & Roadside Assistance (which is only referrals to overpriced fly-by-night vendors that MCI never vets or verifies). I also searched for a Caterpillar Diesel Service Center nearby. I found Hawthorne CAT, where Tim advised me with good follow-through. But, I found I still needed someone more ‘hands-on’ to help me get my CAT C-10 engine running again. I searched Craigslist for a mobile diesel mechanic. I found ARMY MECHANICS. With a name like that these guys must have some kind of discipline, sensibility, honor and heart for their customers. I called & left a message; also used their online email appointment request system to get on their radar. A few hours went by and I felt hopeless.Around 5 pm, Dave called. He asked what sounded to be very direct and sensible questions. I told him my concerns and he responded like he got it. Dave also showed great follow through (not just dropping a nugget of wisdom then walking away patting himself on the back for a good deed like so many others do). No, this guy was on it like he was right there with me. For everything I told him, he brought real diesel mechanic knowledge to bear in resolving the concern. That night ended with his advise to get and do certain things to get the engine running. I felt like together we can get this done.Next day: I pulled out the plug he described last night. I followed his procedure to reprime my diesel fuel line. That was not new knowledge from him. It is just that others did not really care to see how it went after their advice. Design variations caused me to stop and wait for Dave respond back to me. He said he needed to come out (for a very reasonable fee) to get it started. When he arrived, he adjusted the procedure and of course he got through it quickly. Somethings you see a mechanic like Dave do, make you say, “I could have done that.” But, I don’t have the knowledge to feel I should do that, pull harder, or loosen something more or even the insight that he provides when he is with the vehicle in person. I am glad he came out. And I realize he should get some kinda of pay after all of his advice and time. Dave got it done! I feel so much better.Everyone gives varying degrees of the same faulty advice that does not resolve the problem it just helps the person talking feel smarter than you. Dave’s handling of my concerns made me feel I was dealing with someone much more conscientious. If this is the norm for ARMY MECHANICS, then they have a loyal customer for life!

They have always been honest and helpful. Theyre pricing is very fair and they usually come in under estimate. We will continue to take our diesel f-450 here when we have an issue. They only do appointments and for good reason; they have always gotten our truck back top us quicker than we expect. Definitely way faster than North County Ford and almost every other shop we have ever taken a vehicle to. Thank you!

I can’t say enough about the guys at Army Mechanics, specifically Jose. To say Jose went above and beyond is an understatement. They stand by their work and take care of their customers. We had an issue with a fuel pump in our Ford diesel superduty and Jose came all the way down to our house to diagnose the issue and had it towed to their shop, which took that huge hassle off of our shoulders.Driving the truck back home, we ran out of gas (didn’t know this is what happened) and Jose came down to us stranded on the freeway, followed the tow truck to a gas station, and helped clear air out of the fuel line and stayed with us until the truck was back up and running. Then even followed us all the way back home to make sure everything was good. And didn’t charge a DIME.I’ll say it again - They stand by their work and take care of their customers. 100%.Their pricing is beyond fair and transparent and I just couldn’t ask for more out of a mechanic. They know their stuff too!!!! They’re skilled and extremely knowledgeable in Diesel engines. No hidden prices, no surprises, discounts wherever they can give them.We will never use another company. Can’t say enough positive things about Army Mechanics. We are forever grateful we found them!

The lock on the passenger side of my 1999 Explorer has been broken for close to a year. The dealership quoted me a ridiculous diagnostic fee, plus an additional cost for the part and repair. Recently, I read the reviews about Army Mechanics through our neighborhood website and so glad I did. Dave diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and the repair was done the same morning. A week later when the lock started acting up Dave realized the problem might be an after-market issue, and ordered the part directly from the dealership. He did the repair the same day with no additional charge. The entire repair (including the cost of the part) was done for the same price as the dealerships diagnostic fee. Big Savings! So, after reading all the positive reviews and having firsthand experience now, I have no reason to go back to the dealership for anything. I will be taking my car to Army Mechanics for all maintenance needs and repairs when needed! The service provide by this staff and their work ethics are truly obvious and totally amazing!

My wife and I are very happy with the work done by Army Mechanics on her Honda CRV. The staff was very down to earth, straight forward, and honest in their opinion of the task at hand and the evaluation of future concerns of mine with the car. We were very happy with the cost compared to getting the work done through Honda. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that they will come to you for certain jobs. I would not hesitate to go back to this shop; I like the quality of work and their attitude!

Theres been so many occasions within the past 8 years Ive not been able to fix or find a problem through my own understanding or through big name garages that claim they are the best quality for the most reasonable price. All of them have left me with outrageous prices and some other thing wrong that I can only suspect was their fault. When I found Army Mechanics online from a search in Afghanistan and spoke to Dave for the first time he was receptive, understanding, fair, and since the repairs I needed were costly, he worked with me on the cost and payment methods. Hands down the best mechanic shop around and to be honest, the bigger garages need to get back to this type of customer interaction and service flexibility. Already long story longer, thank you so much for never letting me down Army Mechanics Ive been with you for years now, and Ill be here for you as long as I can make it there.

Once again David and crew to the rescue! Our Chevy Cruze went down with a coolant system leak and wouldnt keep temperature. We had been quoted a ridiculous amount of money to repair it at the dealership so we bypassed all that expense and called Army Mechanics (this is about the 5/6th time I have used them). The best thing is David came out to the house and repaired the car to full operational capacity within an agreed time frame and dollar amount (significantly lower than the dealership :) and I wasnt even home!! Thanks again Army Mechanics

Highly recommended!!! I called, 1:30 min later He arrived, run few tests on my truck, made a phone call to get some more answers for my problem, follow up with the phone call and email, also give me some more advice on how to deal with my car dealer. Quick response, on time, great to work with. From now on this is my mechanic.

I think this is the 3rd time Ive gone to Army Mechanics when I was in a pinch with one of my Trucks. As always they listen, provide excellent advice, make sure I understand the problems with my vehicle(s) while offering cost effective and safe repair solutions. Every time I have gone to Army Mechanics they have been responsive communicators and made me feel like a valued customer. Previously I used the Mobile Service but this time my appointment was at the Shop where the front office staff made to feel at home and the Tech kept me informed of the issues, solutions and progress. I just cant say enough good things about these guy. I encourage anyone who needs a trustworthy, ethical and quality Mechanic to see Army Mechanics and support a local Veteran owned small business... and not just because Im an old Soldier myself.

I took my car to the dealership for my rear breaks to be replaced. They quoted me an insane amount of money but I was already there so I had to pay it. The told me my front breaks needed to be replaced soon as well but there was no way I was going to pay that amount ever again. I was referred to Army Mechanics and was also told they do mobile work meaning they will come to you! I contacted them and they were very professional and we set up an appointment with Dave and he drove all the way out to Chula Vista to replace my front breaks. He was very friendly and professional and great to work with and it all cost me less than half of what the dealership was asking! Now thats service! Will be using them for all my car needs going forward. Cant recommend them enough!

Very unprofessional! They’re reviews looks good, but I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.I needed a mobile mechanic for my alternator, my car is unable to start, and I had to get it towed to my house. I got a diagnostics done by a different company to make sure it was the alternator and nothing else wrong with my car. Their price was very high so I looked around at other companies asking for quotes.I filled out a form on Army Mechanics site, and they reached out to me via phone. He was very professional on the phone, and seemed to be legit, and wasn’t as expensive as the originally company.I originally scheduled my appointment for the 11th, but called back no more than an hour later and changed it to the 8th. I had to call about 5 times. We confirmed everything, he had already emailed me the estimate but just needed to email me the credit card form which he said he was going to send over right away. He never did. I reached out via email the day before my appointment to ask for the form, so that everything can be set when he comes. My appointment was at 9am, I started calling at 0915. No answer. Left messages. Had my friend call. I myself called 22 times, and my friend about 10. Still no answer. I checked my email around 10:30a (I’ve still been calling, but had to take a break because I had to go into work really quickly) and I saw he emailed me 9:58a saying: “hey, we completely dropped the ball on this one. Can we reschedule tomorrow ? At 9 ?”I made a call to him at 0954, so he had time to respond to an email but can’t pick up the phone and say something came up? They’re hours of operation begins at 8am, so why are now responding to emails almost two hours later? He obviously saw and heard his phone ring, if he can respond to an email, but didn’t have the decency, professionalism, or courtesy to call and ask me to reschedule or at least send me a proper email atleast showing a bit of empathy?Btw: I responded to the email at 10:49a, telling them that they’re unprofessional and even asking if they have something later today because I have to be at work tomorrow, and it’s now 1:39pm and they haven’t even reached out.

Ive had 3 experiences with them. First time they came and did things to my car I did not ask them to do. 2nd time they told me that they were not the ones that messed up the car and took off a fuel pump, but when they showed up they admitted to the mistake but didnt make sure everything was fixed before they left. 3rd time I tried to have them come back and get the car started and they told me about a NEW policy where they wont work on my vehicle because it is past a certain year. This was all over the course of a few weeks. Amazing that they were able to adopt such new policies so quickly. They clearly didnt want to come fix their own mess. The lack of integrity I dealt with was disappointing coming from Vets. Pick another mobile service that will finish the job they start and not leave you high and dry when they dont feel like making the trip.

I told them I needed new brakes, rotors, and calipers. They quoted me $250 total, for parts and labor. They told me no, you dont need new calipers, these look really good to me, just a warped rotor, thats about it. :)And they dropped the price to $150.

I called Army Mechanics when my 2004 Chrysler Crossfire ignition didnt turn. I knew this was a common problem for my car, so I was expecting to have to replace the ignition cylinder. When David came out to diagnose my car and give me an estimate, I got a reasonable offer of $500 for parts and labor. I gave him the go-ahead and he got to work. After a few hours, he calls me over and talks to me about how he cant get the housing out to do the repair. He explains how he will have to order a whole new housing, along with the cylinder, and that it all comes with a new key. This is where my review goes from what would be a 5-star, to a 1-star.The new cost for the parts and labor is $1,000. I have no choice now, hes already done work and my car still doesnt work. Ive been out a car for a week now and its affecting my ability to get to work and school. He orders the parts, which he says come from Germany. I wait a week before they get here, and he gets to work again. He finishes in a reasonable amount of time, and the car starts up as it should. David says there is an issue with the key that came with the ignition cylinder, and he will take it to Chrysler to get it fixed for no charge. I have one working key, so I say thats fine. I should have got that in writing, because I never saw that key, or David, again. As far as the repairs went, everything seems fine, except as soon as he leaves and I start my car up, a beeping noise constantly chimes when the door is open and the key is in the ignition. My car NEVER did this before David worked on it. What seems to have happened is he failed to put the dashboard back together correctly, and something behind there is causing the car to make a chime until the door is closed, but only sometimes.Ive been contacting David for months now, and I never get a response. I called once, and spoke with a minion of his, and when I explained my situation all he said was to write a trouble-ticket on their website. I have written two or three of these with no response.Fact is, theyre avoiding me because David is telling them to. David may seem like an honest guy, but he is anything but that. Im glad the rest of these people had good experiences with Army Mechanics, but I did not. Dont trust these guys with anything spoken. Get EVERYTHING in writing, you may regret it if you dont. What is funny is all I am requesting from them is the key that was promised. They key that I held in my hand, which David said would get repaired. I dont even care if he actually went to get it repaired, I simply want the key I was promised. If you guys are reading this, GIVE ME MY KEY!
