Peter, the owner, was incredible! We came in late morning on a Saturday with two bikes in need of repairs and he and another mechanic got on it right away. They took the time to troubleshoot the problem and make sure that our bikes were working perfectly before charging us a very fair price and sending us on our way. Peter even gave us a recommendation on where to ride later in the day. Excellent service!

Very pleased with my experience at Competitive Gear. I drove 4 hours to their shop to pick up a bike that I couldnt find anywhere closer. The staff was friendly and helpful through the process. They took the time to make sure the bike was calibrated before I took it home. I couldnt have asked for anything more!

Outstanding experience from start to finish. Peter took the time to make sure it was the right bike for me when I called and wanted to purchase it over the phone. On pick-up day, Peter and the team again invested a good amount of time to make sure the bike was fit properly for me and ensure I was able to do all of the basic care and maintenance. Compared to other bike shops, this experience stands above as far easier and much more customer-centric - what a refreshing change.

Great experience. Jackie treated us well. I live in about 115 miles from the store, but called and ask if they had the bike for my grandson and they did. Each visit, they are helpful with care and operation of my Specialized bike. Filled up my tires 😀 Put new tires on my Trek and have it again for tune up. Great for expert or beginner.

Very helpful staff each time I go in. Im new to mountain biking and they have had answers for all of my questions thus far. I even needed to get my first tune-up on my new bike and they had no issue doing it for me on short notice so I was ready for my next ride. Love my new bike!

I was very happy patronizing this place. The staff was so helpful and patient and willing to give you as much info as you needed. we had been here a few times as I was in the process of looking for a new bike. People say Trek cost so much because its a name but after reviewing their products online and comparing them with other products Trek is definitely a better quality product. The owner help me both times and was able to get me on a bike after 15 years of not getting on one. You are able to ride their bikes and subdivision across the road if youd like so you can get accustomed to a bike and see if its right for you. On my second visit I ended up trying a different bike to see if the original when I got on with what Ive liked. Needless to say I rode out with the first one that he said I would. Now I have a bike that will help me exercise but also enjoy time with my family.

Absolutely disappointing customer service. Ive really been wanting to get into cycling (mountain biking specifically) and all they did was crack jokes about not being in stock. Asked if there was something else they could recommend and, again, all I got was jokes about, Not unless you have $6,000!Didnt even give me a chance to tell them I was a beginner and was really looking for some help. Made me feel completely unwelcome. I decided to leave instead of continuing to try and talk to them. Embarrassing.

Top brands, down-to-earth customer service

Clearly everyone at Competitive Gear is an experienced cyclist. For a newcomer to the sport this is a plus but could also be intimidating. The staff at Competitive Gear go out of their way to make sure the novice is placed with the correct bike & gear and makes sure all of ones questions are answered. Dont let the name of the establishment scare you - the store environment is as collegial and welcoming as can be (plus two adorable dogs on premise). I look forward to doing business (or just stopping by to visit) in the future.

Peter was very professional. He was honest and responsive to all communications. He held the bike for me for two weeks until I traveled from MD to PA to pick it up. When I arrived, he was very informed. Picking up the bike was hassle free. They got me in and out the door quickly. Now Im enjoying my bike. Overall, excellent service!

This is the second Trek I bought from Competitive Gear, the first for my teenage son (FX3) and now one for me (FX 4 Carbon). I consider myself an avid cycler (over 3500 miles last year) but honestly dont know a lot about bikes. Everyone at Competitive Gear is knowledgeable and friendly, they went out of their way to make the buying experience positive. Seems like a really nice place. I drove all the way there from East Springfield. I needed gear shifters for my bike. I asked if they had any, but one of the guys said he couldnt sell me one unless he saw my bike. He didnt ask me anything about the bike, just said I had to bring the bike in and come back. I knew what I needed. I couldnt understand why I couldnt just give him the info and see what they had. I dont know . I can tell Google that stuff and get all kinds of options. Im sure its a great store, but they didnt seem eager to help me.

Fast service and exceptionally friendly staff

I made the drive up from Pittsburgh to purchase a bike that I couldnt find anywhere else. I e-mailed back and forth a bit with the owner the day before and asked him to hold it. The day I arrived, they had it all ready to go, I was in and out in ten minutes. The employees were friendly and helpful. In a word, perfection.

Staff is very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. All bikes and accessories are upper end so you do not have to worry about purchasing inferior products. If something does not fit exactly correct or something does not work as you wanted it to they will take the item back without an issue.
